• Why is it written in tiff files slower than writing to AVI?

  I'm having a problem of capture and video recording at high speed.  I have images of size 2448 x 2050 x 8 bit, which are absorbed at 15 fps.  I can successfully write this record as an AVI uncompressed in labview, and don't miss all the frameworks for the length of experience (5-10 minutes).  However, I prefer to write individual images in uncompressed tiff files and were so far not managed to get the same performance.  Y at - it a reason that writing to the tiff format is inherently slower.  Anyone have any suggestions to improve the performance?  With writing tiff, I can get 8 to 10 fps.

  I have attached a picture of my code with tiff wrote in place (basically just avi version replaces "write file" with "avi write framework").

  Any help is appreciated.

  I assumed that the cause is the overhead involved in opening and closing of each TIFF file, you write that you open the AVI file once, write in to several times, and then close.  If you really want them in TIFF files, you can always convert them in post processing.

  I am a beginner with queues and I have a few questions.  I have attached a simple example of code that I wrote to better implement a consumer who can queue data and write on a worksheet after running the code.

  First of all, I noticed that the queue still has residual remaining after the code ends.  It then writes this element to the file to run the vi.  I can't figure how to get rid of this element.

  Second, anyone have any suggestions to improve this code?  I've been playing with it for quite some time and I finally got to work like that, but it is certainly configured differently from the other examples I've seen.

  Thirdly, I am reading the number of items in the queue, but the two in the loop of the producer and the consumer, told me that there is no element.  How can this be?  My output file seems to work and I certainly put items in the queue.

  Finally, in the future I'll use data from the queue in two places.  Here I've implemented a notifier to do the job.  This is the best method?

  The reason why you do not get the last element of the queue (at least not until you restart the VI) is that you have your automatic indexation tunnel that collects all the data to send to the writing on file SS service cable for moving to register.  So this last piece of data from the queue to get into the shift register, but it is not getting into the 2-D chart by the tunnel of automatic indexing up to the next iteration of the loop.  When you rerun the VI, as the shift register is not initialized, it is already there and became the first point of your next data execution.

  Why did you put the register shift in?  Just remove and just use the tunnel of automatic indexation.

  I don't know what you really want to do with the 2nd loop to say if the Notifier is correct or not.  But if you do not want to lose data in the other loop, then you need to use a second queue and have your producer loop enqueue data in the two queues, a queue for each consumer loop.

  With regard to the elements draws in the queue, seeing how your code is configured, the queue will almost always empty because the dequeue function will be ready to pull out the element immediately after the enqueue function puts in.  Unless you have your loop producer much faster than your consumer loop running, you will not see a build up of the elements.  (Try putting an expectation of more of 100 msec in your loop of consumer.  Then you will see elements accumulate in the queue.)

  I don't know why you put the spreadsheet feature writing after the loop.  Normal use for queues in an architecture of producer/consumer must transmit the data to a separate loop that contains the functions write file.  This way he can work at his own pace, but write the data and make sure that you do not lose it.  As you have now, if your code runs a long time, you may run out of memory when at the tunnel of automatic indexing table becomes too large.  And if your application crashes before you complete it with your stop button, then all data are lost because you did not it writes the file.

  I'm currently implemented a producer consumer-consumption-consumer architecture. (Loop acquisition > write disk acquisition > read data from disk data > display of the user based on the data.) In plain language, I have a created the data loop, a loop of these data, a loop of disc storage and a loop displays a user interface. (This isn't supposed to be a real-time application, and I am aware of the charge created by the writing and the reading of the disc). Just stick with me on this one.

  So my problem occurs concerning the second loop. This loop is responsible to write the data be queued (produced in the loop 'Acquisition') on the disk. The problem is also, feeds on a queue to the loop of "reading disc". This configuration causes a few obstacles. The main obstacle arising from the nature of queues of LabVIEW. The loop "write to disk" writes only a part of the queue of the 'Acquisition' at the same time. This general is not really a problem, until you consider that this loop also determines the execution of the loop of "reading disc", with the use of queues. As a result, this loop determines the rate of the next loop and was therefore likely to slow demand and leave a large number of items in the queue. In addition, you must keep in mind, I'm only queueing about 7 MB of data per element, and my HARD drive has a write speed average of 60 MB with a 64 MB cache. Therefore, my installation I can only write one item at a time, therefore making me use only 7 / 60MB of bandwidth from my drive.

  My question is; It be possible to have the loop "write to disk" write several items in the queue at the same time. I hope that I can write simultaneously enough items that I can use my bandwidth 60MO together writing and speed up execution of any sub routines that depend on data written to disk.

  I know there is probably best architecture for this application, but for the moment, I am limited to this architecture. If you have any suggestions for other architectures, I'm more willing to listen to, but coming back I am looking for a way to improvise simultaneous tail reads and then write them to disk with my current structure.

  You can put your element Dequeue function in a loop For and set N to a number so that you get several items from the queue at a given time.  Turn on indexing and you will have a table of data.  Write the table in its entirety on the disc.  This should speed things up a bit.  Don't forget to use shift registers for the sons of the error and the reference to the queue in the loop For and also put a little delay in the loop to stop 100 percent CPU usage.

  My Color Laserjet 5550dtn suddenly lost the capacity of its network - as evidenced by the disappearance of the network address in the printer display panel.   I replaced the jetdirect 615n card, and I could then access the installation of I/O again and set the address of the printer that it had before (192.168.1.106)

  The printer seems to work OK, but when I try to access the printer via my browser, using its address, screens appear, but after a very long delay - sometimes up to two or three minutes.   Similar delays occur every time I have change the Access tab.

  I put the mask 255.255.255.0, and the DNS server on 192.168.1.1 (the address of the router system) and have disabled other protocols except TCP/IP.

  I don't remember the exact settings I had before, so is there anything else I may have missed that causes this extremely slow response?

  Sorry for not answering before, but my wife is damaged the problems of column vertebral too take precedence over all the rest for a while.

  I started to have more problems, leading to no communication via the ethernet card at all and only work with USB connection.   I bit the bullet and bought another printer of opportunity - without the cartridges of ink, which works very well, and commicates quickly to local net address.

  I saved some of the components of the old machine, so the expense was not so bad really.

  The original machine was always a little suspicious, but it was also used, maybe, I had a bad Control Board.

  The three files that does not loaded at startup proved a Paragon backup facility that I had deleted.  I found in the registry and is more had this error.

  Slow and sudden episodes of "not responding" continues in safe mode, safe mode with network and boot.

  Mr. Fixit noted that I had too many programs loaded on startup that I already knew and will work hard to stop.  It has been useful in this gave me a list of the programs that did not need to start.  Some of this list was a distant base such that suggests my AV does not need to start, but some of it was useful.

  I then started to keep track of programs that seemed more likely to slow down or freeze the machine.  I reduced to one of my drives 3 1/2 inch WD 7200 and my 25 M Intel SSD.

  I ran Intel SSD toolbox and it showed no errors and no updates.  Estimated of life was about 95% and I had the car for 2 years.  There is an option to click that says "SSD Optimizer", and I suspect it is similar to a manual pad because it is one of their first records.  I "optimized" and it was immediately faster.  Intel said to do once a week or two and I never did.

  I ran HD Tune Pro on the WD and it showed a bad CRC so that a warning on the drive, which is less than a year. HD air said the drive is bad OR a cable is bad.  I had a backup, Acronis Disk which took most of the data and I also had the cloud with versioning backup.

  Knowing that the food had been replaced by a technician who had twisted power cables, because most of the readers had been asked in reverse, I attacked this first.  I turned every drive so that the connection of the power supply has been on the same side and reconnect the cable after doing my best to straighten out and flatten the wire.  I then installed a new SATA cable on the WD drive in question.

  Then, wanting to be done with it once and for all and ensuring that I could save between Acronis and my backup of cloud, I used the command line in Administrator, then to Drive E tools mode, error checking.  I ticked the boxes: analyze and attempt to recover bad sectors and automatically fix file system errors.  A reboot and the process had started.

  When you are finished, I seemed to have a catchy machine and some of the programs which often hung, is done in two days.  Programs were pretty much intact, but most of the files had been erased from the disk.  I have restored all wiped files and files of Acronis and the cloud and everything seems to work perfectly.

  Unable to help me, I ran HD Tune Pro and made a mistake (not fast) full scan on the E drive.  She came back without error.

  I know that this drive can fail again, and above all, I couldn't have been this aggressive if I had not had 2 backups.

  Do you think it will fail again?  I decided that, if so, I'll get another SSD (or two) to replace.  Although it will cost you much, I fear that hard drives are not very well made and I don't want to go through this again - and maybe not be so lucky.

  Thanks for your help and I'll post again if it fails in the near future.  Someone knows something about the new SSD Plextor?  Or would you go with Samsung?

  My VM Images became unworkable slow since I upgraded the VMware Player to version 3.0. With version 2.5 that has worked very well.

  I must say, I had a similar problem before, but after the addition of mainMem.useNamedFile = FALSE in the. VMX file it worked perfectly.

  What Iboot the same Windows XP machine and run the same VM from there images using VMware player 3.0 for Windows, it works perfectly (better with version 2.5, in fact).

  Tried all kinds of settings, installed vmware tools update, reinstalled vmware player and even reinstalled ubuntu, but same result.

  Of course, I want to get this thing running with VMplayer 3.0, but I dropped.

  Thanks for your reply. I review the post. I understand that drivers are a bit old. I first want to eliminate hardware issues with the computer's wireless card by performing all the steps which are associated software.

  I understand perfectly that WiFi and wired Ethernet connection both seem to be slow.

  A few steps to try:

  • Disable all firewalls and antivirus, including ten windows programs have antivirus programs and firewalls.
  • Try mode safe mode with networking to check if the Internet connection is fast. Try the wired and wireless options.
  • Link to the safe mode with networking is given in my previous post. Please try this.
  • Uninstall the existing network adapters and update the bios chipset network adapters and (wired and wireless) from this link: http://hp.com/drivers
  • Please try to change the channel of the router with another value. Try different channels work. that could help for the wifi only.

  For me, it looks like a problem with the SD card inserted.
  I think you should try to format the card CD and it should check again.
  If this will not help and you won't see a performance improvement you should replace the SD card and should try another.

  Have you used the recovery disk Toshiba or did you start from HARD drive recovery?
