I use Windows Vista Home Premium (x 64) with Service Pack 2, and I noticed that "mainstream support" for Vista seems to have ended in April 2012. I'm a user at home and as far I can tell that Vista has "extended support" until 2017, but I don't think that this applies to individuals.

  The latest security patches have been installed on my computer by windows update last night.  The system has been restarted. After the reboot, I was unable to open a session.  I could click the icon for my id and enter my credentials. The system seemed to process for a little, but could return to the initial screen where users would click to sign. I ended up doing a system restore to an earlier date. Later, I changed the settings for windows update so patches would not automatically installed after that wrong me the second time.

  If anyone has experienced this?  Any idea on how to fix it?
