Supervision SNMP question

Hi all

I have a problem with a link between a Cisco 7609 and a Cisco 7606.

This link is managed by a service provider with their own routers.

I want to check regularly if there is a good connectivity between my 2 routers (I don't want to check the physical state, but at least layer 2 status)

I browse the mib of my equipment and found in the "cdpcache--> cdpcachetable.cdpcacheentry", several cases of neighbors:

-Instance 10.23

-Instance 11.20

-Instance 13.21

-Instance 24.17

-Etc...

Each Instance correspond to one of the router's neighbors.

I decide to make a comparison of the cdpcachedeviceid, witch is the name of my router, in my case, and everything works fine

But when I got a cut on the link, the instance of disappear in the cache and when it reappears, it takes another number

So my monitor did not until I have manually

I also tried to find the tool LDP or neighbors OSPF to the fields, but I have not found anything.

Any ideas?

Thank you very much

Florent

Wouldn't be better to get entries syslog for the event that occurs (for example, modification of routing adjacency) when the Middle link is lost? You can then define an action (email, raise alert etc.) the arrival of this specific system log entry.

You can also query the routing table and look for some objects (routing entries) that are present only when the remote site is accessible.

  • Question about KB 2033173 - SNMP configuration

Hi guys, I have a question about KB 2033173. It is said

below is an example of the host SNMP Configuration profile:

    Port 161

    Community

    Community 10.0.0.1@0 receiver

    [...]

Please note that the recipient's address contains a space, not a "/" as input to the command line.

I wonder why the "10.0.0.1@0"? I think it should be "10.0.0.1@161" because the port number is 161. Thank you.

Yes, you are correct and also keep in mind that there is a lot of difference with the SNMP agent without traps (use the port UDP/161) and SNMP agent with traps (use port UDP/162).

  • SNMP with IDRAC questions

I have Vmare ESXI installed on my Dell server. I tried to installed the package VIb, who succeeded and the dell printer troubleshooting tool can check the SNMP through my Vmware management IP.

However, I want to use the IDRAC and I set up the string of community using the IDRAC interface but dell troubleshooting tools, but I get the error message

The SNMP read request failed for the Get community name - test.

I will be happy if someone can help me on this.

NB. I read on the forum that there are two options to configure SNMP to IDRAC. I can only find one. If someone can point me in the right direction, that will be great

    Hello

Have you done the following on the console of the iDRAC to set the name of the community and enabled the SNMP Agent? (For the detailed procedure, see http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/extras/m/white_papers/20281547.aspx )

    a. connect to the console integrated Dell Remote Access Controller 7.

    b. navigate to iDRAC settings > network > Services.

    c. go to the section of The SNMP Agent .

    d. Select the check box to enable the SNMP Agent.

    e. Enter the SNMP community name.

    f. scroll to the bottom of the page if necessary and click apply.

Let us know if it helps.

    Thank you

  • Question of SNMP Variables

    Hello

you have a problem with the help of variables in Alarmmessage.

If you can see, I'm trying to use the interruption variables in the format of the Message (f.i. bigipNotifyObjPort( )

But the alarm doesn't know that {host} and {description}, but not the 3 variables under interruption Variables

How can I use them, because they are most important.

Alarmmessage I get in the Alarmdashboard:

    Hello

I might miss something obvious - but you do not have to escape the variables with ${.} - your message format should be

    ${bigipNotifyObjPort}

  • What necessary SNMP MIB file

Does anyone know where I could find information (MIB) machine for Toshiba MFP devices file. I googled had and checked the predominant sites for these types of files. I'm looking to get the OID for an eStudio-600 so I can configure the SNMP interruptions for alerts of toner and paper jams.

    Thank you

PS: I put here as a matter of SNMP network, if it's wrong please feel free to move it to the right forum.

In my opinion, this forum is wrong place for this question. I think you should contact your local dealer where you bought your eStudio-600.
They offer a type of support or not?

  • Can someone tell me which makes snmp service send a trap event. I mean, snmp does not monitor anything. To send a trap, a person or an application request SNMP to do. Which?

I was doing some research on SNMP and MIBs.Hit a roadblock when this question came to my mind. Windows stores all MIBs under

    %SystemRoot%\System32

I know that these MIBs are used to send traps. I just want to know the throughput, or how it's done. Who reads all this information and provides it to the snmp service to send a trap event? If I need to send traps that are defined in some other MIBs, how can I do it?

Any help will be appreciated. :)

  • Questions of diet with vista color: Cyan over White

Most graphic design sites copies Tips is not to use a text on light background. Same Council could consider on bottom "selected text", which must contrast with default background.

Color scheme by default in Vista and windows 7 uses cyan for selected and white background for the default background. A test showed that many men cannot difference of white clothes of pale cyan clothes, even when they are suffering from color blindness. The problem increases when you look at the computer screen TFT at strange angles, especially the vertical angles (i.e. of standing teachers supervising the work of a child of the meeting). So many people must change the Vista color scheme.

I'm colorblind and application to run on a friend or a member of the family computer with Vista or Windows 7, I have to change the color scheme whenever I'm asked to help. I have also reset the color scheme by default whenever I finish using this computer (some people, especially men, including no-color-blind men, have asked me to keep my diet "selected text-cyan", however).

Color scheme is particularly difficult to change in Vista, since you must navigate several additional levels of menus (compared to windows XP, win95 or even windows 3.0) and then save the new set of colors under a theme. Change that is related to the ease of use (i.e. the color schemes for color blind and even non-color-blind people) must be prioritized the most aesthetic, but apparently not the case of vista, where color schemes are relegated to the option "Advanced settings", and no color scheme (text selected either blue, visible) 'windows' classic appears.

[More information on best practices and l ': http://jfly.iam.u-tokyo.ac.jp/color/#convert ]

My question: is there a solution to easily change the colors of vista, without any of the navigation in the menus? Some of the default themes (which you show with just a touch of color in the menu "level of transparency") is a high-contrast color.

    Hello Jose,.

Unfortunately, you will need to navigate through the menus to change the color and theme of Windows.  You may be able to change the set of colors to your liking and save it as a theme so so you will simply have to choose a different theme in relation to changing the color permanently.  I hope that the information is beneficial.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/explore/create-your-own-desktop-theme.aspx

Please remember that once that changes have been made and that you save the changes to the theme.

I've updated the OpenManage Server Administrator from 7.4 to 8.1 on Centos6

Now the module SNMP (StorageManagement - MIB:virtualDiskDiskCachePolicy ou.1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10893.1.20.140.1.1.26) Watch INTEGER: 2 (disabled) but the Disk Cache Policy console (omreport storage vdisk = 0 controller): enabled

Reboot, policy chanling (vdisk omconfig storage = changepolicy action) has not helped.

    Is - this bug?

The controller looks like it reports properly, so it doesn't seem to be just a question of SNMP. I'll bring the issue.
