Supports multi-vCPU in ESXi 5.1 feet

I want to quickly check with you is FT supports more than one vCPU in ESXi 5.1

No, it does not support.

    Hello.

We have an application on redhat with hight cpu utilization.

For now, we use the server with 4 QuadCore CPU, then 16 core.

We believe the use of virtualization for this application.

I see the standard ESXi license has limitation of 4vCPU...

Can I make a virtual machine with 16 vCPU with ESXi or vmware product?

There's a special permit for this?

Scalability is good? Or it is better not to use vmware for this use?

8 - way SMP is currently the maximum supported by ESX and which will require the product under license (i.e. not 'free' license). There are speculations that this number will 8-way beyone in the next version, but there is no guarantee. Typical applications of virtualization are scale-out, not measure - upward for this reason. However, you can assign only 8 lanes practically in several ways:

    1 x 8-core vCPU

    2 x 4 vCPU strands

    4 x vCPU 2 strands

    8 x 1-core vCPU

Use the advanced cpuid.coresPerSocket setting to configure. I have more details about it in my blog:

  • One or more devices do not support multi-equipment tasks.

    Hello

I work with 2 X USB series Renault (6356 USB).  I am acquiring data analog voltage of all 8 channels on the two Renault (total up to 16 analog inputs).  I need data acquisition to synchronize and trigger from an external digital source (a signal that I currently wired in A PFI0 of Dev).  I use a sampling frequency of 800 kHz and a 400 kS buffer size.

I tried to use an express vi for two devices; two separate express vis for each device; and recently changed to DAQmx icons (as seen in the attachment).  Anyway, I get an error (error-201426: one or more devices do not support multi-equipment tasks.).  He referred then DevA and DevB as devices that do not support tasks.  I was under the impression that tasks multi-equipment agree with property X of the series.  I use NI-DAQmx 9.5.5.

In the attached photo, I left most while loop.  The part of the diagram that I left out is just for viewing and recording of data, I've included parts, I felt it necessary to describe my problem.

I would appreciate all the advice really.

    Thank you

    Leslie

I think crossrulz is right. No worries, as they must be in separate tasks, your data is always synchronized as you want. You'll just have to do some things in the software, because not all the data will be returned in the same Bay of waveforms. What you can do is to create two tasks (one for each device), build an array of tasks, and when you do a reading, do it inside a loop for. concatenate the waveforms of each reading and you have a table of waveforms with all your data as if you read it in a single task. You also need to configure your second task to trigger the DevB/PFI0 and divide your trigger wire, he PFI0 wiring on each device.

  • Is a UPC (Unified Port Controller) of the FI 6200 supports multi protocol port simultaneously?

    Hello a good person.

Is a UPC (Unified Port Controller) of the FI 6200 supports multi protocol ports simultaneously?

For example, the second UPC has 1/9-16. Configure the ports like these? 1/9-10 for the server ports, 1/11-12 for the uplink ports, 1/13-14 for FCoE Uplink ports, 1/15 and 16 for the Uplink FC ports and so on. I know that Cisco Documents describe a port can be configured as server port, FC, FCoE... I "don't not interesting in these gross comments."

    Thanks in advance.

    Paul

In UCS unified configuration of ports is controlled by a scroll bar, as shown here.

There is a fixed configuration for FI ports, then another to the expansion Module. FCoE and Ethernet ports are both type Ethernet from a unified point of view port, CF requires that you select the ports you want to be FC ports.

All ports to the left of the slider bar will be Ethernet, which can also be configured for FCoE, and everything to the right will be CF.  So to answer your specific scenario above Yes. BUT with a caveat.

If you have moved the cursor between port 14 and 15 then left would be Ethernet can be configured as a Server Port, Port Uplink or FCoE port and ports 15 and 16 could be configured as FC ports.  BUT the downside would be that ports 17-32 would also be FC ports and you couldn't get to the Ethernet ports later.  If the port configuration is adjacent to ports on fixed ports, as well as on the extension module.

Best practice is to determine how many FC ports you need and configure each component accordingly.

Here are some details on the guidelines for the unified configuration of Ports.

  • Windows XP and Vista does support Multi processors

    Hello

Could someone tell me if material motherboards today multiprocessor support Windows XP and the same for Windows Vista?  If yes would someone also indicate which version of Windows XP and Vista no it support and even for 32/64-bit options? I read that you need Windows Vista Ultimate Edition to run on the hardware of today? Is this correct?

    Thanks in advance

    Victor

If the material is supported on a given operating system is determined by the manufacturer equipment.  If they support a given operating system, then you are good to go.  If they do not, things will be less a lot rougher.

However, as a general rule, the professional level of the Windows operating systems support multiple processors if that is your only concern.  I hope you understand the difference between multiple processors and multiple cores.  :-)

Answers to your, "you must have Windows Vista Ultimate Edition to run on the hardware of today?  Is this correct? "query is, 'no, No '.

For Windows Vista (I want to jump, if I thought to upgrade):
    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows_vista-hardware/multi-core-processor-and-multiprocessor-limit-for/d00780f8-76e8-4AF6-AA49-e64a7007c17f

In regard to the 64-bit or 32 - bit - still once it comes down to the support of manufacturer of material for a given operating system * and * the said OS architecture.

It of for homework, isn't it?

  • 10 workstation does support multi vm ovf (VirtualSystemCollection)?

I try to open an ovf that contains multiple VMs using the < VirtualSystemCollection > element rather than just a single virtual machine using the < VirutalSystem > element. 10 Workstation supports the eggs/ovf virtual appliances that contain several virtual machines? I'm element unsupported "VirtualSystemCollection."

Hi all thanks for the suggestions. I had read all the documentation. I was faced with an appliance (vApp) virtual multi-vm with servers in 3 windows containing my solution stack, wrapped in egg. I tried open/import directly the eggs in 10 workstation, but he complained about the and didn't like the multi-vm aspect.

I installed vapprun v1.0 and ovftool v3.5.0 and used the following for my eggs multi-vm imported into the vapprun workspace and process visible with 10 workstation:

1 vapprun init - initialized the vapprun workspace

2 ovftool "c:\path to my egg file" c:\path_to_my_vapprun_workspace--deployes egg multi-vm in my workspace

3 edition *.cfg files since I've customized vcenter properties associated with the TIME as well as for each virtual machine.

4 vapprun start - gui 'VAPP name' - without the flag - gui the vapp/vm do not start. I had to use the flag - gui and that automatically launch the workstation and the console for the virtual machine have become active.

Once startup is launched, virtual machine is seen in my computer until I have delete.

  • OPA Siebel connector and multi support multi-lingual

    Hi OPA Experts,

We have a requirement that result of the OPA (validation text) must be complete multi language, if the connection of the user in "ENU" then OPA Siebel IO response should fill the results in "ENU", if the connection to the user in response 'CHS' OPA Siebel IO should fill in 'CHS '.

Do we need to maintain separate for ENU and CHS modules? Please let me know. Thank you.

    Hi Moses,

    Sorry for the late reply.

It was not possible to call a web service inbound from separate of the language/locale of the interview. However, we have recently produced a patch that should do exactly what you want.

If you contact technical support, and describe what you want to do, they should be able to provide a patch. If you mention that you need the patch that was produced for the '3-7991604331-not able to implement OPA connector for Multilingual application' service, they should send you a patch that contains an updated version of the OPA 10.4.4 runtimes for Connector for Siebel and all the instructions you need.

  • Core2Duo processor will support vmotion/HA under ESXi 4?

I want to create a learning laboratory vSphere 4 at home using 2 physical hosts and 1 OpenFiler for vm storage, and a gigE switch decent.

I followed the guidelines in the 'Maximum vSphere' book, the hcl whitebox, research/reading here.

Since this is just a learning laboratory and not the production, I do not need a lot of power and want to save money. Want something quiet/silent I am looking at workstations not servers.

With this in mind, I'm thinking a couple of HP DC7700c.

Does anyone know if their cpu spec (core2duo E660 with VT and EM64T) supports operations such as vmotion and HA?

I studied these features of vmware and they say that the processors must match, and considerations of storage/nic are mentioned as well. But I'm a little fuzzy if I face a Xeon processor do vmotion and/or HA? Or will a core2duo humble work VT ok?

I'm not planning to make the RUN on these hosts, and if the NETWORK adapter does not work I can pop in an Intel pro/1000 pcie for cheap (probably 2port for now, 4 maybe later)

Although some people say this HP model comes with a card Intel PRO/1000 PT PCIe Gigabit.

Also, I'll probably start ESXi 4 usb thumbdrive.

The motherboard goes to 8 GB max, which is fine for now. Once again, not planning on executing lots of virtual machines simultaneously. More than just familiarize themselves with the operations of vSphere 4.

Here is an example of a system with 4 GB of RAM on ebay for $250 ($30 shipping cost)

    -Thanks for all the tips

    No mate problem.

  • Support multi-screen in mode 4

I was under the impression that view 4 was going to be true instead of the multi-monitor support rdp version and using splitview.  We were waiting for version 4 so we could ride on all desktop computers, and I still don't.  In fact, when I choose multi-monitor it won't cover even two monitos now.  Someone at - it ideas?

In this capture customer screen display is running in windowed mode and it would not use or adapt to mutimonitor as the application window is treated as a solid glass.

In the capture of the attached screen shots you will notice I have spin a session which begins in multi-screen, changes of are displayed and finally back to multiscreen as follows.

Start view customer / login / multimonitor desktop selection / select / select Connect (PCoIP is my default)

    See screen-one shot

I can take this mode session window as yours, by selecting exit full screen in the bar of the shadow. As you can see, the View Client is running in windowed mode and adjusted the desktop virtual to fit the window and tilted in single display mode resolution.

    See screen-two screenshot

I also took a third page where I manually expanded the Client of the view window on the two screens of my client. As you can see, even when he has automatically adjusted for virtual the desktop resolution to match the new size of the window.

    See screenshot screen-three

This is the expected behavior in this multi-screen intervenes only when you start a session in multi-screen mode. It does not knock when you are in windowed mode. Looking for multimonitor when running in windowed mode?

Affects your screenshot, it appears that the resolution has not been reset or adjust which is an indication that the multimon parameters have not always taken. The virtual machine must be powered down at least once after the changes. Did you turn off the power or reset / reboot? A reset/reboot will not work.

  • support multi touch

I would like to know if Adobe Creative Suite, in the Photoshop part, supports touchscreen multi-touch functions on the touch laptops.  I heard there is also support for multi-touch on MacBook Pro with the trackpad.  I would like to know where to find information on two of these subjects in this thread, the Mac and Windows support for multi-touch/touch.

    Sincerely,

    Markerline

There no explicit support - only what we automatically receive the OS/drivers.

  • Query related to multi site VMWare esxi 5 according to the installation program.

    Hi all

We have several distributed sites based on vSphere 5 according to the installation program which are the ESXi host 5.1, 5.1 vCenter and a storage for each site... Now, we anticipate adding distributed locations all host esx to vCenter built one of our new site.

So, what should be the best way to achieve this.

    (1) is it advisable to add the distributed over wan to vCenter site on a different location?

    (2) can we also go with modes related? Since all our existing site already live, do we need to re - install vCenter to have bound mode installed?

    Concerning

    Varun Khatri

Hi, as long as you have enough bandwidth between sites, you can add you remote cluster to vcenter.  I've done this before and I had no problems.  Your approach depends on the configuration of your environment.  If you have existing vCenter installed on each site, you can use the linked modes, and you don't need to reinstall to set up connected mode. vSphere Documentation Centre

  • Percentage of loans processor multi vCPu VMs threshold

    Hello

I'm trying to get some understanding on how to calculate VM CPU ready based on this as best practice white paper page 5:

Key indicators to measure and track

    Ready (RDY %)

-% of time a vCPU was ready to be programmed on a physical processor but could not because of the contention of processor

    -Threshold recommended: 10% per vCPU

Assuming I'm using ESXTop to get the value of %, made this means that if the percentage of % CPU ready for:

    • 1 x vCPU VM should not be greater than 10%
    • 2 x vCPU VM should not be greater than 20%
    • 4 vCPU x VM should not be greater than 40%
    • 8 x vCPU VM should not be greater than 80%

    is my interpretation correct?

    Hello

I think and I know, calculation of % CPU RDY for all VM CPU not for a core.

If your ready CPU threshold is 10% for the average of all hearts % RDY.

You can do something like this

    Get-view ViewType - HostSystem-property name, VM |

    Select Name,

    @{N = 'vCPU'; E = {}

    Notice-EEG-Id $_. VM-property Runtime.PowerState, Config.Hardware.NumCpu |
