Switch to Windows 7 64-bit G62?

I have a laptop G62-107SA comes with Windows 7 Home Premium, very happy with it.  I plan to move to 4 GB of RAM and I was wondering if it would be worth upgrading to the 64 bit version of Windows 7.  Any reflection on the question of whether it is worth the trouble, how much it would cost and if HP takes support this?

Thank you

Hello:

After page W7 x 64 driver download is supported.

http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?OS=4063&LC=en&cc=us&DLC=en&sw_lang=&product=4133903

Here are the specifications of product: your laptop computer may take support up to 8 GB of memory with a 64 bit OS.

http://support.HP.com/US-en/document/c02031742=

This is a decent article on the differences between 32 and 64 bit OS:

http://Lifehacker.com/5431284/the-Lifehacker-Guide-to-64+bit-vs-32+bit-operating-systems

The decision is yours. I installed 64 bit OS on all my machines with 4 GB of memory and I love it. Without any comparative analysis to back me up, it "seems" to run a little faster, as when I use the 64-bit version of internet explore for example.

Maybe you can contact HP and ask them if they will sell a 64-bit recovery disc for your laptop. If they do, it will be much cheaper than buying a retail W7 upgrade version (which by the way, comes with a 32 and 64 bit disc).

The first question is whether you have a 64-bit or 32 bit one processor.
If it is 32 bit, you cannot install a 64-bit version of Windows to
    all.

If by "any other information," you mean data files, Yes, there
possible to do something like what you say. But if you mean also
programs, may not do that. To run a program,
was installed under the copy of Windows you have started.

And even with regard to the data, I think it's easier to just do a
external backup of your data, and then pure install 64-bit Windows and
    Restore the backup to it.

And if your answer is perhaps that you have no procedures in place
to make regular external backups of important data for you, let
tell me that you are playing with fire. It is not a question of
    * If * you will lose all your data, it's only a matter of * when *.

Please help me understand what I need to do Thks in advance.
original title: Desktop PC Vista Home Basic...? ..

On the same hardware, there will be no difference of speed of moving to 64-bit. There are some marginal benefits of security with Windows 64-bit.

    Since at least the five years, almost all of the processors are able to run in 32-bit and 64-bit mode.  See for more information on current processors that work with Windows;

    http://www.Intel.com/en_UK/products/processor/Corei7/index.htm

    http://www.AMD.com/us/products/pages/processors.aspx

It's really a matter of how much you want to spend for the performance you need. See this for more information on what you will need for a high performance system:

    http://www.TomsHardware.com/reviews/core-I7-3930k-3820-test-benchmark, 3090.html

You can not simply exchange one processor to another. It must be put in correspondence with the motherboard.

You are referring to a Vista Home Basic Office. Home Basic is usually installed on low-specification PCs which are not powerful enough to run all of Vista's features.

If you want to run something like Adobe CS5, you would be probably better off buying a new computer Windows 7 to try to upgrade your existing computer.

  • Can satellite P300 - I switch from 32 to 64-bit Windows?

    Hello
Soon I'll receive the CD with Windows 7 and the drivers for my laptop (P300-20 b). I warned for Toshiba Windows 7 Upgrade Option Program. And currently I have Vista 32 bit.
Can I switch to Windows 7 64 bit of Vista 32? And another question, what is the optimal amount of RAM for 64-bit system? Currently I have 3 GB.

    Thanks for the reply!
    Kind regards
    Gregory.

    Hello Gregory

Unfortunately, you can't switch from 32 to 64 bits. If you want to use the 64-bit operating system, you must do any new installation. Install Vista 64-bit using the recovery disc or HARD drive recovery option.
After doing this update install Win7.

Optimal RAM? You can use it with current 3 GB, but if possible you can upgrade RAM and more powerful laptop. ;)
Laptop specifications that your PSPCCE can be upgraded up to 8 GB of RAM. Not bad.

  • A6511.uk Pavilion: Pavilion a6511.uk windows 7 64 bit upgrade

I have improved my a6511.uk Pavilion from Vista to Windows 7 32-bit of the disk to upgrade without problem and been running this for a few years now. I installed 2 additional 1 GB memory DIMM in the slot 3 and 4 to take up to 4 GB, as indicated by both HP and Kingston as a specific system upgrade for this model. The BIOS and windows both report of 4 GB. «The reading of the form of specification of motherboard site HP it is said ' 32-bit PC can not solve a full 4.0 GB memory»

Although the office comes with Vista 32 bit and I have upgraded to Windows 7 32 bit, the processor is 64-bit, so I have three questions:

1 will be available the additional 2 GB of memory in the current 32-bit OS (Windows 7 32-bit is asked to use up to 4 GB of RAM), or if I wasted my money with this upgrade?

    2. Windows 7 can be upgraded to 64-bit on this computer (I have the required upgrade disc comes with the 32-bit upgrade disk that works on the same key)?

    3. If I switch to Windows 7 64 bit upgrade tool, I would do this as a pure install or use windows, and the 64-bit system will have drivers to support this machine?

If the system can run on a 64-bit system, the question is why not with a 64-bit processor Devil!

Thanks to all those that can help you - the next step is to upgrade the HARD drive for one 240 GB SSD (an another HP/Kingston class upgrade), but I want to get this sorted out first.

Put in the extra memory for 32-bit OS wouldn't give you much of a performance increase.

You could install an OS 64 bit Windows 7 on the computer, but drivers can be a challenge that HP has no Win 7 drivers.  Drivers of this thread look like your system can work.  If this isn't the case, we can help you.

With a Windows 7 64 bit installed you would be able to upgrade your memory up to 8 GB.

Yes, Windows 7 will be a free upgrade for Windows 10, find out if it will work on your system may not be 100% sure.  I've seen newer computers not being not able to run win 10 Tech Preview and still some elders will be.  Only a Microsoft Upgrade Advisor will tell you, but it is not yet available.  For now see the minimum requirements to win 10.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/preview-FAQ-system-requirements-PC

Remember you can only switch to Win 10 64-bit only if a prior installed OS was 64-bit.

If you're feeling adventurous, try to install the win 10 Tech Preview now.

  • Computers provided with Windows 7 64-bit, and we need Windows 7 32 bit

Our company bought 5 IdeaCentre K300 computers from a big blue store. Computers came with W7 64-bit Home Premium preinstalled. We also purchased 5 windows whenever the PIN upgrade which allows us to move to W7 professional so we can add these computers to our domain. We have several products to launch from the part of field and will not work with the 64-bit operating system and running in XP mode just hard does not work (for these applications). The person who bought computers said the computers contain the 64-bit and 32-bit W7 Home Premium and we can switch to the 32-bit version using the OneKey Recovery utility and then run the Windows Anytime Upgrade. I have one of the computer booted several times and you press the F2 key when the Lenovo logo appeared and have only one option, the 64-bit version.

How do I get the 32-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium for these computers?

    Thanks in advance,

It is not possible to switch from windows 32 <> 64-bit by performing the clean install of windows (with a key recovery)

You must install a clean install of windows. Download iso windows legal from the link below, then do a clean install of your computer for activation, use online activation or call microsoft.
    http://Forum.NotebookReview.com/Windows-OS-software/428068-legal-Windows-7-download-links-just-like-...

PS: Make sure that you download 32 windows. and burn recovery discs before installation clean Windows, just in case.

You can download the drivers from the link below:

  • Windows 7 64 bit damaged, no backup, no repair disc, no set of recovery, no picture,

My granddaughters computer laptop K53E from ASUS (2010 purchase) with Win7 64 (home?) has stopped working and has not been used for about 2 years.  Not record it, no set of recovery or repair, no image or backup.  He now needs - hard drive was full with games and some viruses.  I've released the space and got rid of the virus.

Update Windows automatically downloaded around 150 updates - it wouldn't let me select this option to install only some, then they all begin to install, almost done when windows crashed and could not even get a DOS command prompt.  No recovery no worked configuration option.

I used Win7 64 bit Pro drive my son (came with his HP ProBook) to install Windows and located all ASUS from ASUS.com drivers.  But now I can not activate Windows.  I tried the license key from the sticker from ASUS (for don't Win 7 64 Home / Premium (?)) No dice.  Tried the Win7 Pro 64 of my son disk key and no dice.

She paid for a license of Windows 7, when she bought the ASUS K53E.  Single MOM at 30, she goes back to the school and broke.

Is it possible that she can turn it on Windows7, or some other way to get a short operating system to purchase $130?

You own a poorly installed edition and you used a HP disc reinstall. You must specifically download and reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

How to: What are my options for Windows 7 reinstall media?

Make sure you scroll down and read the section:

What to do if you cannot get your manufacturer recovery media, refuse to use or to buy it or the Microsoft Software Recovery Website does not work?

Windows 7 64 bit comes in handy when you need to deal with at least 4 GB of RAM or more. Windows 7 32 bit can use up to 3.2 GB of RAM. Because the address space of memory is much larger for 64-bit Windows, this means that you need two times more memory than the 32-bit Windows to accomplish some of the same task, but you are able to do much more, you can have more apps open, do things like run a virus scan in the background it will affect the performance of your system. 64-bit Windows 7 is safer too, malicious code cannot easily infiltrate it, drivers are more reliable because they must be signed before it can work with 64 bit Windows 7.

Regarding compatibility, you need device drivers 64-bit hardware devices, you may have. In addition, there is no 16-bit subsystem in Windows 7 64-bit, which means, your applications must be 32-bit only, not 16-bit Installer or programs uninstaller. Also, if you decide to switch to Windows 7 64 bit in the future, there is no way to upgrade from 32-bit Windows, clean install only.

    Can I run 32-bit programs on a 64-bit computer?

Most programs designed for a computer running a 32-bit version of Windows running on a computer running 64-bit Windows versions. The notable exceptions are many antivirus programs, and some hardware drivers.

Drivers designed for 32-bit versions of Windows do not work on computers running a 64-bit version of Windows. If you try to install a printer or other device that only has 32-bit drivers available, it won't work correctly on a 64-bit version of Windows. For information on updating drivers and troubleshooting issues with device drivers for 64 bit versions of Windows, contact the manufacturer of the device or program.

    I would be using a 64-bit computer?

The benefits are more obvious when you have a large amount of RAM (RAM) installed on your computer, typically 4 GB of RAM or more. In this case, because a 64-bit operating system can handle large amounts of memory more efficiently as a 32-bit, 64-bit operating system can be more responsive when you run several programs at once and switching between them frequently.

If I am running a 64-bit version of Windows, I need 64-bit drivers for my devices?

Yes. All devices devices need 64-bit drivers to work on a 64-bit version of Windows. Drivers designed for 32-bit versions of Windows do not work on computers running 64-bit Windows versions.

To learn how to check for drivers, see update a hardware driver that is not working properly or go to the website of the manufacturer of the device. You can also get information about drivers by going to the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor website.

I try install win xp 32-bit, but some occued to error when I did install using boot DVD (blue screen!).

Also I can't win xp 32-bit version could support 4 GB of RAM.

    Hello

Mr President, Oracle 10 g does not support Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit)...

You must get the works of Oracle 11 g on Windows 7 64-bit and 32-bit... (or any newer version of Oracle)

If you have Windows Home Premium 64-bit, you can fresh install Windows Home Premium 32 bit & use the product key at the bottom of your laptop computer to activate Windows 7 using automated phone support...

Windows 7 32 bit can be installed if the size of the RAM is more than 3 GB, but it will be 3.2 GB use only...

    with respect,

  • Cannot adjust the brightness - model HP G62 363 TX - Windows 7 32 bit reinstalled

    Hi gurus,

    I reinstalled Windows 7 32 bit in my laptop HP G62 363 TX .

Now the brightness in the function keys button does not work. I am unable to find any option of adjusting brightness in the display section as well.

ATI Mobility Radeon Premium graphics card is missing. I tried to find the driver on the Site of HP drivers but this particular exe file is not present when clicking on it.

It's wrong to evil in my sight, and I am unable to work.

    Help, please!

    Hello

Try to download and install the version a little more early of the AMD software at the following link.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp50501-51000/sp50719.exe

After the installation is complete, restart the laptop.

    Kind regards

    DP - K
