  • Get blue screen errors. My hard drive died?

    Original title: hard drive crash?

Finally, my hard drive failed? A few months ago, I had a virus so I had to back up my entire hard drive on my Toshiba laptop. After I did this whenever I started it, I had to press F12 to load device of your choice. Then he said something on the hard drive failure 4, stuff like this press F1 to continue. I usually do and it runs slow but the other day I went through the process, and he came to load Windows XP then blue screened with c:0000218 (a registry file failure). I've tried safe mode, safe mode with command prompt last good known configuration and start normall. I always get blue screen and sends me in a boot loop. I tried also to insert the OS and restore CD that has not been loaded. Went through the process above.

What do you have with regard to the virus out of your backup drive?

How - to what support - did you back up your drive?

Is a version of Norton antivirus or security program installed?

When you use F12 to select boot device, what device were chosen to boot from?

The message you have seen 'SMART failure provided on disk hard 4' followed by an identification of the drive?  What disk drive has been identified?

What happened when you tried to use the CD "OS and recovery?  Please report any error completely, without paraphrasing.

See the following tips from frequent poster Jose Ibarra:

For those who STOP: c0000218 error, a chkdsk /r usually will fix you right up and then you will start normally once again, then it will be broken again with the same problem until you run chkdsk /r once again, so you have to work, do what you have to do when you get started - uninstall Norton completely and correctly.

After the chkdsk/r, you will still be able to boot mode safe but as Norton components not load safe mode and rush through the file system when loading.  Then you can go on the WWW of Norton of the site and use their instructions to get rid of the beast to uninstall...

Here are some instructions in order to at least run the Recovery Console:

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that might have come with the acquisition of the system store.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

  • Blue screen error caused by display driver igfx

Origin: the title display driver igfx

My Toshiba Satellite L305-S5907 started suddenly to do all kinds of crazy stuff, the screen was all distorted and it flickered and then it would break.  Then I had received a message indicating that the screen was confronted with a display driver igfx problem and had been recovered.  This has happened about 5 times and I was trying to see if I could get some info on the help and support page, and then the screen went black.  Now my laptop won't open at all.  I pressed the button 0 and holding it down and then through this recovery process and it will get so far and then a blue screen error appears and says that he is arrested for not to damage my laptop.  It is as far as I can get and it won't let me on my computer to get to the control panel or to download updates.  How can I return to my laptop to download the updates?

    Hi Tempol,

Since then, you receive a bluescree and unable to boot in normal mode, you can try to boot from the Windows Vista full version installation disc and perform a startup repair.

If restarting fails, then try a startup to restore the system from the installation disc.

Please help me to solve the problem, and I'll be really thankful to you.
    Kind regards
    Kay

First of all, you need not use a setup of Windows 98 to work partition disk before installing Windows XP, Setup of Windows XP has the tools to do this job.

Windows XP Setup cannot see the hard drive as it doesn't have drivers for the SATA controller on board.  To install Windows XP you must go into the BIOS and put the hard drive in IDE mode you will need to integrate the SATA drivers in the XP installation CD, or you need to feed them to the Windows XP Installer with a floppy using the F6 method drive.

Your new PC does support Windows XP, it has Windows XP drivers available for it?  If this isn't the case, you will have a lot of crying by train to get there.

I'm on a computer laptop gateway and my cd player does not work all of a sudden. I can eject and put CD in there and it will hum for awhile, but nothing will happen. I went to Device Manager and it is not yet listed. I read the other topics and the problem is still not resolved, please help. Also, my HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder has not all folders in there, so I can't go to system/etc to delete anything because there is nothing to remove. Thank you for your time

    Hello

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers to check with the system manufacturer to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your if necessary.

  • White screen - tried all possible solutions and still no progress!

I'm not new to the forum of sansa, but I've never posted. This problem has been so stubborn that I took the time to register so I could get help.

I own a fuze 4 GB black with 2.03.31 firmware version.

The screen went blank and will not change. All functions of the unit seems normal. I know that this problem has come up with many people and I lived all the pages on this forum about her.

However, I formatted the "rocket" several times, demoted and updated the firmware (by the sansa updater and manually, both MSC and MTP), and still the problem remains.

Am I missing something, or it's time to drop it?

As you obvoiusly discovered lurking around the forum, there are many complaints of the "WSS" (white screen Syndrome) here. Some of the reasons & causes are known, some are not. Some are fixable, some are not.

There is a user Forum. We have all the answers. Don't get me wrong; I'm glad you signed and welcome in the community. It's a good place and you can learn a lot by interacting with the others here, but...

There comes a point where you have to call the Pros (in this case, a Support technique SanDisk) and let him handle it. If they cannot find a solution, they can get you set up with an RMA (returned merchandise authorization) and replace the unit for you if it is still under warranty.

This, in my view, would be this time.

My computer has been reformatted recently, due to a virus to its original configuration, using the disks that came with the compture.  To restore the application software, I noticed, every so often as a blue screen of death appeared.  I turned off and restart.  The computer came fine.  After a couple days the problem happened again.

I went to the Microsoft website and they said that McAfee has isolated an operating system file and rename the file etc etc.  I contacted McAfee and they carried out an audit and said that the problem is with Microsoft and to communicate with them.

I read that a driver could be the cause of the problem, but which driver?

All software loaded has been loaded before, and I don't have this problem.

I also ran the Dell diagnostic hardware and it came out fine.

    Any help out there?

  • Blue screen error: 0x0000001a when using system to restore with new hard drive disk

original title: blue screen error when you use the system disk to restore with new hard drive

I bought a new hard drive to my computer because the old one gave me a bunch of error messages on screen blues. I installed in the tower and tried to use my restore and system recovery disks that the manufacturer has given me, the process has got to the last disk then asked for the system once again restore disc, and then began to load the last steps and went to blue screen error. I don't know what to do, I mean it's a whole new drive hard, so where could the error come, theres nothing on the hard drive because I have not yet used really, yet. Help, please

I have finally fixed the problem myself. The problem was that one of the sticks three memory was bad and the only way I could test this error. I took two sticks a left, used disks I had and was able to restore my computer, then I put a stick, turned on the computer, had no errors so I let him, so I put the last stick in and com immediately on, I had the Disconnections: memory management and that's when I knew that the last stick of memory was bad I took it back and now my computer works well and I can't buy more memory for not too. So if someone gets this BOSD error on memory, I'd say 8/10 computers have bad memory (not a number). If youcannot run the tool of diagnosis of memory like me then I would suggest to do what I did with the trial and error, it was the only way to understand the problem. Thanks for your help

    Hi Anna K.

When you encounter a Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) in Windows, the computer saves information about the error message in a log file. This log file or minidump file is saved in the subdirectory of Windows Minidump (C:\Windows\MiniDump). Generally the information stored in the minidump file can help identify the cause of the blue screen error message and help you solve the problem.

For more information on the reading of the memory dump files, see the following article:

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Communities. I understand how it could be frustrating when things do not work as expected. Please, I beg you, don't worry I'll try my best to resolve the issue.

    1. are you able to boot into Normal mode?

I suggest to follow the steps provided and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

Step 1: I suggest to disconnect all external devices other than the keyboard and mouse, then check if you receive the same error.

If you receive, I suggest you follow step 2.

    Method 2:

Step 1: Try to start the computer in safe mode and check if the same problem occurs:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Step 2: If the issue does not exist in Mode safe mode then try to put your computer in a clean boot state.

By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the troubleshooting steps, see step 3 of the binding of boot is a way of putting your computer to normal startup mode.

Method 3: Also, try the steps in the following Microsoft article and check if it helps.
