Switchable graphics in Inspiron 15 3537

So, ive Dell Inspiron 15 3537 with Intel HD integrated 4400 and Radeon discrete HD8850M. I've problem with my discreet card, all the games could not see my discreet card! The same catalyst! High-performance switch does not help! In System Monitor discreet every time have 99% free vram.

Some screenshots:

Don't forget that Windows (and games) can only detect the GPU that is attached to the camera - and it's the Intel GPU.

The Intel GPU is primary and active - the AMD GPU is STILL just a secondary coprocessor.

  • Dell Inspiron R17-cannot switch Switchable Graphics

    Hello

I recently received a Dell Inspiron R17 SE (7720). Initially, it came with Windows 8, but given that I don't like that much, I installed Windows 7. I installed all the drivers from the Dell Support Web site. Now, I have a question: I can't find the way to switch between the integrated Intel HD 4000 and 650 M from Nvidia graphics cards. The laptop runs all the time on the Intel card (even when playing 3D games). In the Panel, I can see the two cards. If I right click on the desktop, I don't see anything on the switchable graphics. Also, when I try to start the Nvidia Control Panel, I get an error message that none of the screens is to use the Nvidia GPU and therefore the display settings are not available.

Can someone tell me how to move to the Nvidia card? Also, when I was installing drivers Intel 4000 HD, just at the end of the process, I got an error message, but the tool then said 'Installation successful'. The error, if I remember correctly, was not being able to create a process.

    Thank you for your help,

    Mircea

OK, what I did (and resolved the issue) was to simply remove the drivers for nVidia cards (works best in safe mode) and Intel processors and then reinstall them. This time the Intel driver installed and correctly after the installation of the nVidia card I could access the settings.

  • Success Story with get switchable graphics to run on Windows 10 with one to Inspiron 15r / Inspiron 7520

For background, some Dell laptops have a function where they use a low-power intel graphics card when running undemanding applications, but they spend a graphics card with high power, high power (series AMD Radeon) when demanding games is running. With the AMD/Intel version, it's a very fragile Setup and you can not download an older version of the drivers and expect to work. Dell engineers specifically design a version of intell driver installers that is compatible with this configuration.

Pilot automatic/windows updates and changes to the OS can overwrite on this delicate configuration and you are at the mercy of the people of Dell support on when you will get an updated driver. If you use just the vanilla Intel video drivers, they don't respect the will AMD to take the chart control and the AMD video card will sit unused in your laptop.

There are three parts to get Windows to use your preferred hardware driver, remove all installed software that provides drivers. This is done by uninstalling all the software that puts drivers on the hard drive. The second step is to remove all windows drivers is pegged against because Windows will not allow pilots used to be completely uninstalled. To do this put Windows in "safe mode" where it does not use most of the drivers and then uninstall and delete the driver files themselves. step final is to install your favorite drivers, the AMD and Intel video drivers in this case.

Here's how I got AMD/Intel switchable graphics to work in Windows 10:

    1. I went on the site of dell drivers with Internet Explorer (not Microsoft Edge/Google Chrome/etc) and used the detection system to recognize my laptop. Then, I downloaded the video drivers Intel and AMD for 64-bit Windows 10
    2. I uninstalled all of the AMD and Intel video drivers via the Add/Remove Programs application in Control Panel.
      1. You can search for "Remove programs" in the search box in the windows bar to get the applet in Windows 10.
      2. There are a lot of Intel drivers for things like network cards, be sure to uninstall the drivers for video cards only.
    3. I started in SafeMode Windows 10. Search for instructions on internet to find out how to enter safe mode.
    4. I opened the control panel and went to the Device Manager to remove the video drivers left on the system.
      1. I think that currently used driver files are not completely uninstalled when you uninstall the software of the driver in the usual way, we must do more.
      2. Open Device Manager (a passerby is windows key + 'x')
      3. Open graphics cards, there should be one for intel and amd.
      4. Right-click on each graphics card and choose uninstall. Then click on the option button driver remove and remove drivers
      5. reset
    5. After the reboot, check that the graphics cards in Device Manager are very generic, they say probably intel or amd.
    6. Install the device driver software intel you downloaded from dell
    7. reset
    8. Install the amd you device driver software downloaded from dell
    9. reset
    10. You should now see the option "Configure switchable graphics" If you right click on the desktop.
    11. Try to run a game that requires a bit of graphics card
    12. Open the app "Configure switchable graphics" and check that it has considered the game that you just ran and that he put it to 'high performance '.
    13. fact

Probably, you should be on a/c during all this power. I think that I heard that the switchable graphics may change if it is on battery power, not sure.

Skyrim has worked after that, as well as the intros of l4d2 ran very slowly (they are incredibly unstable when they are executed on the graphics of intel), but the application itself crashed without warning on the desk, just as he finished a solo campaign of loading for me. I suspect that it's probably more a thing of windows 10 a graphical thing and hopefully reinstall the game will fix it.

Well, my case is very simple. I just install the driver the newest Intel.com and amd.com, and everything works. I wish just that Dell can update driver Audio Conexant Audio Device.

  • Problem with Inspiron 15 3537 AMD Radeon HD 8670 M Driver for Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit

    Hi team,

I bought this laptop a month back and still not able to understand the problem with the video driver.

    Laptop model - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/inspiron-15-3537

Issue - AMD Radeon HD 8670 M Driver does not not in Windows 7 Enterprise. Error - driver has stopped working.

    Drivers have tried - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/ag/en/19/driverdetails?driverid=P28NG

    Help, please.

I called Dell phone Support and they helped me solve the problem.

    Solution: -.

Step 1 - updated BIOS to latest version

Step 2 - before you install the AMD driver, install the Intel HD Graphics driver 4400 (most of people think that is not necessary because we have a dedicated external AMD card. "It was my mistake too). You can download it from Dell support.

Step 3 - install AMD Radeon HD M 8670 driver

And yeppy it works! Windows experience index has a flexible 6.5 for the games graphics on Win 7

  • Switchable graphics: is it possible to use the GPU Radeon ONLY?

    Hi all

I have two laptops: one is a Latitude E6420 and the other an Inspiron 14 Intel N4050.

Both have switchable graphics; NVIDIA Optimus on the E6420 and Radeon on the N4050.

I'm on Windows 7 Professional 64 - bit genuine on both machines.

With the E6420, if I choose, I can either affect the GPU discreet default one or can I just go into the BIOS and disable Optimus, which makes the machine run only on the dedicated graphics card (I normally do, since I'm almost never far from an outlet.)

Unfortunately, I have no such control with the N4050. I wonder if there's a similar way to disable shared Intel GPU on the N4050 in order to force him to run only on the Radeon graphics cards. There seems to be no way to do it via the BIOS, and I think that the deactivation of the GPU from Intel in Device Manager is not a good idea. I know I can control which GPU crosses where the Switchable Graphics method in Catalyst Control Center, but this function appears not yet to disable completely the shared GPU (which seems to take when running on battery - there is no apparent way to say with certainty what GPU no is used).

Thanks in advance; your help is greatly appreciated.

The answer is no, it's not.  The AMD GPU has no connection with the display device - all video data through the GPU on Board of the Intel processor.

You cannot disable the on-CPU GPU - if you do, you will get no display at all.

  • Inspiron 15 3537 no HDMI output

Hello, I bought a Dell Inspiron 15 3537, there AMD Radeon HD M 8670 and integrated Intel HD graphics (Core i5-4200U) and it comes with Ubuntu preinstalled 12.04, and I also installed Windows 7 on a different partition.

Video output only the computer laptop is an HDMI port, however, it does not work. It cannot detect the connected external displays and recognizes only the own laptop screen (Intel WiDi on Windows).

I think I have tried everything that I could do:

    • Tried it with 3 different working HDMI cables, did not work
    • Tried with a Samsung TV and a LCD monitor, did not work
    • The Diagnostic tool system that you can run before starting the operating system indicates no error.
    • The Intel or AMD Catalyst driver detects the display connected
    • I tried Win + P (projector mode), didn't work
    • Update the drivers (for Linux and Windows) did not help
    • The system update did not help
    • Beta tried and drivers AMD open source, still did not work
    • Tried to turn on the release of Linux command-line xrandr (amdconfig) did not work

So what else can I do with it?

I brought it to the shop, and they sent to Dell service. The repair took exactly one month (probably depending on where you live), and it was free. They replaced the whole motherboard, and now it's working properly.

  • Switchable graphics BIOS

    Hello

In 5458 Inspiron BIOS there is the option to disable switchable graphics.

What will happen if I disabled it? The Intel video card intel will be disabled or is it the other way around?

    Thank you

It would be a new option - latest Inspiron is not a material for hybrid video installation control.  If this is the case, disabling switchable video must run the nVidia GPU all the time (at a cost for the duration of the battery and more heat and therefore activity fan, of course).

If this is what is happening, post back - it would be a novelty for Inspiron, who, in recent years, have been entiredly muxless (software only command).

  • Inspiron 15 3537 and reactivation of Windows 8.1 problem.

    Hello.

I just bought my new laptop. I have it for about 10 days. Everything was ok at first, but after 3-4 days, that I decided to upgrade to Windows 8.1. After that the laptop never wakes up after going sleep little matter what I do.

It seems that others have the same problem. I tried to uninstall and reinstall display drivers, I removed a bluetooth device that there was an error with 8.1 but I couldn't solve the problem of reactivation. I ran the resolution of the problems of power, nothing. Hybrid sleep in the advanced power settings was already closed.

Is there a solution? Help, please. It's really frustrating to have to do each time a hard reset

    My machine is an Inspiron 15 3537, i7 4500U, AMD 8850 M, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB HD.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I have the same laptop. My solution for this problem is:

-go to Device Manager and uninstall the drivers for AMD and Intel card (Please select uninstall components... and do not restart your computer)

d ' Add/Remove programs please remove all software associated with the graphics card (catalyst, graphic intel)

    -restart the computer

-Download the latest drivers from dell for card site intel and amd and install it, then restart your computer

And now your problem should be solved, now my computer with no problems turning on sleep mode.

Unfortunately, right now the R series does not offer a switchable graphic option between the integrated graphics chipset (Intel HD Graphics 3000) and him dedicated ATI 6450 M.

I have a model R850-10V with an i5 - 2410M and there is no option in the BIOS to such a choice, who would help a lot to increase the autonomy of the battery using only the onboard graphics for example.

It's a shame, because all other important producers (HP, Lenovo, Acer) who use ATI 6450/6470/6490 M graphics integrated solution, updated their bios to allow a switchable graphics option.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the situation is that you should not do the upgrade of Win10.  Their upgrade tool has done a really poor job of detecting switchable graphics before the updrade, and as a result, people like you end up with machines that are no longer fully functional.  Same thing happened to me.

With switchable graphics, the only work pilots come from OEM making machines, because the material is suitable, so having to be engines.  MS does not supply these drivers any more than the video card manufacturers.

So, without driver HP Win10 for your PC, you're stuck with only two results:

    (1) keep Win10 and faced with the problem of graphs

    (2) to return your PC to the original operating system.

I chose the second because I prefer a PC with an OS more old where everything worked, to a PC with a new operating system, where things don't work.

  • Preview of Windows 8 consumers: AMD Switchable Graphics - Unswitchable

    Hi all

I have a HP Pavilion dv6-6004tx laptop and I recently upgraded to the consumer preview Windows 8 (Build 8250). I wish that some troubleshooting those who have / are affected by this and may have found a way around it.

Insofar as the specifications of my computer is:

    Intel Core i7-2720QM

    6 GB DDR3 RAM

    64-bit operating system

    AMD Radeon HD 6700M

    Family of Intel graphics

The problem in my display drivers. Some of you may also have a Switchable Graphics feature that is installed in your computer. But for those who do not, basically, what it is is a feature that allows to switch the display adapter to a GPU to save energy to a GPU performance and vice versa.

In my case, as you can see above, the GPU performance is the Radeon 6700 M, while the GPU to save energy is the integrated Intel one. My problem with not being able to switch back and forth, as if I was able to come back on Windows 7. As it is a feature of AMD Catalyst Control Center, I searched their site and they actually have a version of supported driver for Windows 8 CP, although still in beta and sometimes glitch.

    http://support.AMD.com/us/KbArticles/pages/Windows8ConsumerPreviewDrivers.aspx

(As you can see, my model: AMD Radeon HD 6000 M Series is listed)

I rebooted after installing the control center, and a popup notifcation tells me that:

"The Catalyst Control Center is not supported by the version of the driver for your compatible graphics card. Please update your graphics driver from AMD, or activate your card AMD using the display manager. »

I found this curious at first, my model was clearly indicated. But after an inference, I realized that my computer needs to run on the Intel integrated graphics by default. This has been further strengthened when I tried to play a few games and other applications (it would be a bit rough - also experienced before when I forgot to switch on GPU performance).

The graphics card AMD Radeon used to have a mistake (the unit does not start. Code: 10) in the Manager of devices, but with a new installation of the driver got to AMD, it seems to work very well. However, my computer is still using the default Intel card, and I have no way to switch to the other GPU as catalyst will not start.

Has anyone found a way around this?

I'll give you a way to make it work!  He has listed there so many incompatibilities with the FIRST METHOD , you will not get use an Intel (less power consumption card) GPU to work after the changes! You have to wait until HP allows him to work properly or deal with the thirst for energy GPU AMD even in battery mode.

THE SECOND METHOD listed works without any problems with the compatibility of all the apps BUT it IS demand the pace and order (can be comprehensive for beginners, no worries listed below has got all the information you need to make it work)

    IF the first option:

NOTE: THIS WILL TRIGER OUTCONTROL EVENTS SO AS A PRECAUTION METHODS I RECOMMEND IN ADDITION AS WE GO STEP BY STEP _ DOWNLOAD CHROME IF RUNNING INTERNET EXPLORE (GRAPHICS CARD WORKS WITH THE GAMES BUT NOT WITH APPLICATIONS METRO THEY WON'T CRASH NOT JUST SE NOT LAUNCH)

ALL METHODS BELOW TESTED BY MYSELF AND HAVE WORKED YET MUCH INCOMPATIBILIES WILL ALWAYS USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!

I know all the games work properly battlefield 3 is yet to launch

1 AT first make sure that windows UPDATE IS SWITCH OFF or let you choose to download and install (not automatically or it will update your device (in Device Manager) without your permission and all efforts are gone!

2 uninstall AMD Catalyst "program and components" in Control Panel, and then uninstall all Intel and AMD devices in Device Manager in the control panel (unistal check pilot to pilot intel HD)

3.reboot! After the restart, download this http://www2.ati.com/drivers/hotfix/win8/amd_catalyst_win8_consumer_preview _ [rc10] .exe

    and this

    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp53001-53500/sp53025.exe - 300 MB

    4. install sp53025.exe in windows compatibility mode 7 (it will unpack in C:/SWsetup by default)

then start the istalation make sure that u choose a "custom", THIS IS CRUCIAL - uncheck the CATALYST (check all the rest intell driver amd driver ect.) do not restart after the instalation

    5. then start the instalation of windows 8 consumer driver overview of AMD.

Uncheck everything (after that the sp53025 it will be only the AMD (check/uncheck) driver and catalyst box (check/uncheck) available) uncheck the AMD driver and install the driver CATALYST only!

Reset! Enjoy! There is no CATALYST (only preference of intel and the settings where the CATALYST should be) click the mouse but switchable graphics is now awailable LIKE THIS

Unfortunately you won't be available to choose between the INTEL and AMD! AMD now works by default

All the .exe now recognizes 6770 m

AND METRO APPS WON ' T WORK! AS internet explore will crash as you will open it

SECOND METHOD, IF THE FIRST FAILS (WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE IF THE HANDS ARE MORE OR LESS STRAIGHT)

    IS PROVEN!

THIS METHOD EXCLUDES THE SUBWAY APPS CRASH AND ALL INCOMPATIBILITIES REST WITH ALL PROGRAMS EXECUTABLES AND GAMES!

Note: Requires knowledge to sign your own drivers, disable the application to start signing and modding some inf files.
I am not responsible for any damages that may occur. This guide is not exhaustive.

    Requirements:

    • .NET framework 3.5 - can be activated in Windows 8, in "Turn Windows features on or off".
    • Windows Driver Kit (WDK) - Can be downloaded from here
    • Configure Windows Update to only "download updates but let me choose weather to install' and hide updates from Intel and AMD. This is to prevent our updated driver by Windows.

    1. download the latest switchable graphics drivers from this site: leshcat IT blog tips & tricks: catalyst 12.3 Pre-WHQL UNIFIL for Switchable Graphics
