Inspiron 15 3537 no HDMI output

Hello, I bought a Dell Inspiron 15 3537, there AMD Radeon HD M 8670 and integrated Intel HD graphics (Core i5-4200U) and it comes with Ubuntu preinstalled 12.04, and I also installed Windows 7 on a different partition.

Video output only the computer laptop is an HDMI port, however, it does not work. It cannot detect the connected external displays and recognizes only the own laptop screen (Intel WiDi on Windows).

I think I have tried everything that I could do:

  • Tried it with 3 different working HDMI cables, did not work
  • Tried with a Samsung TV and a LCD monitor, did not work
  • The Diagnostic tool system that you can run before starting the operating system indicates no error.
  • The Intel or AMD Catalyst driver detects the display connected
  • I tried Win + P (projector mode), didn't work
  • Update the drivers (for Linux and Windows) did not help
  • The system update did not help
  • Beta tried and drivers AMD open source, still did not work
  • Tried to turn on the release of Linux command-line xrandr (amdconfig) did not work

So what else can I do with it?

I brought it to the shop, and they sent to Dell service. The repair took exactly one month (probably depending on where you live), and it was free. They replaced the whole motherboard, and now it's working properly.

  • Dell Inspiron 1525 - unrecognized on external screen HDMI output

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 with a HDMI output port.  I have had no success with getting a display actually receive a signal from the laptop.

I tried Windows 7 and Ubuntu and when I connect the hdmi cable to my TV, the laptop instantly detects a second display device, and I can even move my mouse cursor off the screen of my laptop when the 'extended display' expected to appear on the TV (clone of office, only showing the screen hdmi using FN + F8 ", etc. also does not display anything).  I tried all ports hdmi on the TV and have also tried external monitors with hdmi inputs, I tried three different hdmi cables that work with other devices, even once, the laptop recognizes the display and I can only activate the display in Windows/Ubuntu, but the external monitor receives a signal from the laptop.  Yes, I have made sure the TV/external monitors are set to the appropriate hdmi source.  I tried to have two devices turned off with the attached cable, then by restarting, etc..

The Samsung TV that I want the output to work on will display a message "searching for signal" when I attach the hdmi cable, but after a few seconds will display "no signal". The problem is to get a real view on the external display device.  How can I get my hdmi port to send the signal my TV or other screen?  I spent hours on google and nothing has helped.  Any advice would be appreciated.

I just thought I would update this thread that I surprisingly fixed this problem.  There was a missing screw under the laptop where the HDMI port.  I ordered a few screws replacement on EBay and I replaced where the screw should be.  There were a few other missing screws as well (I got the used laptop) that I replaced.  After filling in all the gaps, I tried the HDMI connection and it worked immediately.  No idea how or why that fixed the HDMI port, but he did.

  • I want to stop Dell Dock d3100 Audio HDMI output.

I recently bought a d3100 dock and I use it to connect my Inspiron 13z with Windows 8.1 to multiple devices, including an HDMI monitor and stereo speakers.  It turns out that my monitor has built-in speakers and does not allow them to be disabled or cut.  They sound terrible, so I'd like to stop to send the audio signal to them.  Unfortunately, windows detects the Dell dock as a single USB audio device and I don't have the ability to send audio to the stereo output 3.5 mm without sending it also both HDMI outputs.

If anyone has a suggestion on how to use the HDMI output for video without sending audio to the speakers on my monitor, please let me know.  There are HDMI cables that have an audio connection?

Thank you, Chris.  It is not a Dell monitor that I'm connected, I use an Acer B273h.  I tried to watch the sounds-> playback settings in Windows.  The problem there is that the d3100 Dell presents itself as a single USB audio device.  There is no distinction between the 3.5 mm stereo output and HDMI audio output.

However, I found a solution.  I remembered that HDMI and DVI have the same video encoding, and also, my monitor has a DVI input.  So, I picked up an HDMI cable to DVI, which now sends only video to my monitor.

    Problem solved!

  • problem in the voice in inspiron i5 3537

I have inspiron i5 3537 (windows pro 8.1) and as you know there is no (VGA/Out), so I bought a new cable for the same problem, the problem is when I connect this cable with the laptop voice turned off suddenly and don't want to appear either in video or something else (the images and other things like power point and programs work well on the lcd projector and the connected screen but without) voice)

Plug the HDMI cable and let the speakers stop working. Then, open the sound dialog box (right click the audio icon on the taskbar, and then click play, or select sounds in the control panel).

In the list of devices, you should see "speakers". Right click on the speakers and set it as the default device. See if you can get audio on the speakers in this way.

If you are able to get audio on the speakers, then insert an audio cable into the headset and the other end of the cable to the external device, you want the sound to come out.

("Câble" I hear a cable fitted with a 3.5 mm TRS Plug one end of it see the photo of the type of card - the card looks the same as a headphone jack for a). The other end of the cable must have a card that matches the device to which you are connecting. It could be a TRS jack, or he might have taken CINCH.

But if you don't get the sound from the speakers while the HDMI cable is connected (as described above), forget the audio cable because it won't work in all cases.

  • HDMI output have suddenly stopped. Pavilion a6340a

    Hello

I posted here in hope that someone can give me some advice.

    The system in Question is:

    • HP Pavilion a6340a desktop computer. Double heart
    • Vista 32 bit SP2.
    • NVIDIA GF8400GS
    • COMPRO Video mate Vista TV Capture card.
    • 2 GB of RAM.

It is a bit of an older system, I guess, but it plays well as a HTPC for a while now. It has a small LCD monitor connected via the standard connection and a large flat screen Toshiba TV connected via HDMI. He did a great job.

Today, the HDMI output just stopped. The Toshiba TV again to survey/is visible in the Nvidia Control Panel and the Vista Control Panel when it is connected to the HDMI. the implementation of the features of multiple monitors are available. But there is nothing happening on TV.

    Things has tried so far.

    • Two different Cables HDMI - nothing.
    • Connected my Pavilion Notebook DV6 on the same HDMI port on the TV - works fine.
    • Installed the latest driver from Nvidia - nothing.
    • Tried all the three HDMI ports on the TV - nothing.
    • Physically, shot the video card in the computer, he dusted off and reassembled it. -Nothing.

I don't understand. Could this be a processor problem, or I have to pay for a new video card? Is it possible to test the output from the HDMI port with a multimeter or something? I do not understand why it would stop just like that. I just installed Vista SP2 a few weeks ago, but it was working well after I did.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. The system is out of warranty, of course, but it has been a great HTPC for me. I stuck a blu - ray inside player and I was about to give him another 2 GB of RAM.

Kind of useless now, without HDMI.

IM at a loss. What else can I do to verify that Exchange of the graphics card?

    Hello

The short answer is: replace the video card VNvidia GF8400GS. If you happen to have another video card around laying which has an output and HDMI, then install it for a test. It's the fastest way to solve the problem.

  • Re: Satellite U400-145: no option to select HDMI as HDMI output default

    Hello

I followed the instructions in the manual its leader to the topic on the HDMI output.
However, when I go to the sound control panel, there is no digital output device (HDMI) listed only the Conexant Chairman and SPDIF outputs.
I tried the default SPDIF output, which did not work.
The HDMI works fine for the image, but the absence of the sound through it is driving me crazy.

I'm running VISTA (fully updated) on a U400-145

Someone at - it ideas how I can get the HDMI to appear as an output option?

    Andy

    Hello

Go to the control panel-> Sound-> playback tab
There, you have to click to the right.
Then mark the options; Show all disabled devices
Then you should see the HDMI interface.
Now, you could activate and chose as the default value.

Does anyone know the formal classification of HDMI connector (or a UK power cable) I can be sure I buy the right cable?

  • Live streaming and own HDMI output on camcorder SONY consumer (HDR-PJ650VE in my case)

    Hi all

I'm trying to figure out how I can live streams, using my Camcorder HDR-PJ650VE. I managed to connect the camcorder to my TV by HDMI out and get the live stream, but the problem is that it also displays the superimposed onscreen. It would be a very useful feature, since it this way, you are able to capture the stream by a jury of consumers capture and share it on Youtube for example.

I cannot find anything on the manual release of the stream HDMI output and get rid of overlapping info. Is there a key combination or a hidden menu to achieve?

In addition, it seems very strange SONY would not offer such feature, as for example the PANASONIC offers this good enough consumption walked on models like HC-V520

Please, let me know if it would be possilb esolving this annoying limitation

    Best regards

    Matteo

I want to share my discovery because it seems to be valid for all SONY camcorders: to have a clean HDMI out, turn off on HDMI CTR.

I'm very happy now and I'll start live broadcast!

  • Satellite U400-11U: no sound with HDMI output

    Hi all

I am the proud owner of a model of satellite U400-11U PSU40E running with Windows Vista.
Recently, I tried to view a video on my TV. To do this, I used the HDMI output of the laptop connected to the TV.

I took care to connect the cable to the TV and only after to the laptop.
Then use the quick access key (Fn + F5), poster image on the TV.
    Unfortunately, there was no noise.

After some googling, I discovered that I needed to activate the HDMI audio output via the control panel of the sound.
Unofrtunatly, when viewing, I have found no output Audio HDMI, but only speakers and another exit (whose name I forgot--sorry).

I tried to update the video and HDMI audio drivers (I noticed that there is a HDMI audio driver in the perpipherals system, which was considered 'work' of Vista), but it changed nothing.

So, what can I do to activate the audio output over HDMI?

    Hello

Please see this FAQ from Toshiba:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9401B00001R01.htm

You will find an instruction how to solve this problem... it s about Qosmio G30 but I think it should work on U400 too...

The point is that you must set the S/PDIF audio output by default!

And don t forget to RESTART the laptop after the change was made.

    See you soon

  • Not possible to set the HDMI output as default screen on Qosmio G30

It is not possible to set the HDMI output as default screen! This works only with VGA output. There is no option in the BIOS. According to support, Toshiba will plan any action for this useful feature.

I use an external TFT with HDMI adapter DVI Cable and I want to have as default screen TFT. With VGA, it will work without problems.
    Any solution?

    Best regards
    Nicolas

    Hi Nicolas

Very interesting question! In my view, HDMI port is to be used with the HD ready LCD TVs or plasma. Combination of connection HDMI and HD DVD movies, you can really have a HD on your TV picture quality.

As you know the port is a standard VGA port to connect external displays. The image quality is very good and, in my opinion, you should not use HDMI port for the same. Do you perhaps the best image quality?

  • Satellite P50-B-103 - to connect my HDMI output on a VGA monitor

    Hi all

I just bought a satellite * P50-B-103 *, which has a HDMI output and I want to connect it to an external VGA monitor.

I thought that I just need to buy a HDMI - VGA Converter, but the buyer was told that Toshiba, unless this model, is not ready to connect to a VGA monitor, although I use a converter.

Is it true or I can connect my laptop to the vga monitor using the converter?

    Thanks in advance,

    Charly

It remains that HDMI provides digital signal and analog support port VGA (RGB) signal.

To be honest, I read a lot of articles on these adapters and converters, but in many cases, these converters are useless.

So it s no matter if your laptop was manufactured by Toshiba or another manufacturer.
ITSA the question of the standard of caught signals supported by each port.

  • Satellite L500-131, an HDMI output to the audio amplifier

    Hello

I can't the sound of my Satellite L500-131 HDMI port to my Pioneer amp supposed to be designed to manage these tings...

Think the problem is in the early stages as I * don't * select "Realtek HDMI output" as default + output + option is not available.
Playing around, I managed to get to an old Microsoft driver hidden in memory somewhere and could select HDMI output 'default' through the laptop speakers. But ultimately this ddn can't get sound through either, well that the volume to "sound board" control of Vista indicates activity signal (bars during playback of DVD)... :|

No idea what is the problem? By selecting "Output HDMI" audio output by default seems to be a Solver for everyone, but it's the only option that is not left in me, so frustrating... :|

Thank you very much for any help provided.

    Hello

To be honest I often use HDMI connection on my laptop but I never had any problems with this connection. Everything is working properly and even I checked again all works well!

Anyway, in your case, I'll try reinstalling the audio driver. You can find it on the Toshiba site.

If you use the HDMI connection, connect the cable first. Then turn on your TV or your amplifier and finally the laptop.
    Check it!

  • Y510p - drivers nvidia HDMI output that's an analog connection

I had occasional problems with HDMI output before, but can usually get things working in certain combinations to turn off TV and laptop.

This time, however I can't convince them to talk together. I suspect that this may be due the new drivers (353.30).

The control panel can see TV and recognizes that it is a LG TV, but TV shows only "no signal".

    I tried

-the extension and mirroring of the display

    -changing the resolution

but no luck. The only thing is that enter in the nvidia Control Panel, I noticed that the control panel is refers to the "analog display" and claims that he uses the VGA connector.

Any ideas how NVIDIA persuage it's really a digital camera display via the HDMI connector?

    Thank you

    Mark

Now fixed by the expediency of simple to try another HDMI cable :-(
