Sync slow/nonexistent for some shared folders in VMWare Fusion 6.0.2
I have a mac host and a guest of Ubuntu linux. I recently upgraded from 6.0.1 to 6.0.2.
The guest has the latest vmware tools installed (ie: Fusion 6.0.2).)
I now have questions where the changes made to files on the host are not being detected by the guest operating system.
Note: The shared folder on the host rose - I can still navigate the directories of the two systems... It's just that the changes to files on the host are not inside the guest.
It is very problematic because my development environment is on OSX but my server on the linux client environment. Without a system of file sharing works I can't work, so all suggestions appreciated.
Yes patches are in the 6.0.3 release.
I think that the release notes for this issue only got mentioned in the workstation do not release the merge publication for some reason any.
Thanks for the updates on the tests, as you did.

Shared folders in VMWare Fusion 2 - How do you see their VM?
I have shared folders enabled in the settings of the virtual machine - I used to have a shortcut to folder on my desktop virtual to a shared folder, but when I upgraded to VWare fusion 2 (starting from 1) the broken link, and I can not locate where the shared folders are mounted in my Vista VM now.
Where do I go to 'find' my shared folders in my VM?
Thank you - I do not know why it isn't painfully obvious in the documentation.
When you upgraded to Fusion 2, you updated of the tools in the comments? Have you tried to uninstall tools, by restarting the guest and installing the tools? Have you checked that a HGFS folder is always set up?

How to enable shared folders on VMWare Tools under ESX4
On a windows server is running on a host ESX 4, VMWare Tools reports that the shared folders are currently disabled on the host.
How enable and use it?
Hello
(VMware Shared Folders) vmhgfs driver will not work with ESX or ESXi, it is only for the workstation, Fusion, a player of nd. I would put in a virtual firewall that denies all access and dev environment, until you're ready to share data.
You can then open a port on the firewall and have a system to capture these data via the port. The alternative is to use something like a Keyspan USB hub IP and write data on a USB key, and then physically move to the side of the "production" of the House.
In general I find instead of much easier virtual firewall... VMsafe even won't work here.

How to set preferences for the network folder in VMWare Fusion
I use VMWare Fusion to run a virtual PC on my Mac which I use QuickBooks to MUCH for my business. I'm trying to get the Writer of Intuit, a complementary product to work, QuickBooks statement but there need me to change the security settings on the "network drive" my files are on. Here's what he said I should do:
"If you choose a network folder for a default save location, the system
administrator must make some specific changes on the network and address
some questions of local security. To open the QMD files over a network, the
administrator must grant full trust to any executable code or to
all Microsoft Office documents in the folder where the file qsm
stored. Either the type of access requires a change in the code access
security strategy for .NET framework on the computer. The
administrator must ensure that these changes are compatible with any
other local security policies. For more information, see Networking SIE
and multiple users. »
Help! How can I do this?
Thank you
Dawn
I don't use QuickBooks but Google search for EIS networking and multiple users hit Albums is support QuickBooks - statement of Intuit writer (SIE) network and multi-user functionality and he said: 'because we do not recommend this, the files must be local when you work with them. It is necessary to copy the file IF you want to work with on your local disk, and when the finished work with the file, copy it to the server. "so this means to copy the file in the folder shared VMware on the Windows filesystem, as an example the office that you use also the feature and then mirrored folders when it copy in the shared folder of VMware.
If you don't want to do that, then it seems that the major changes that need to be taken are on the side of Windows and not really a matter of VMware Fusion in itself however in the perspective of VMware Fusion, VMware shared folder should be set to read & write and is the only permissions that VMware Fusion has no control on in this regard. Another aspect of the permissions would be on OS X and the permissions on the folder as a shared folder on VMware normally, only the owner has read & write permissions and other default permissions for reading only. You may also need to change the permissions to read & write however what I read after looking at a few other answers the main objective research to resolve that matter Windows itself using the .NET Framework Configuration tool.
So I really do not see this as a matter of VMware Fusion and see it in the totally as an issue security policy mainly on Windows, although the other mentioned permissions must be at least check and then only modified if necessary after that making the necessary changes on Windows is not sufficient even though as long as the folder shared VMware is set read/write & I think the rest this is totally of the Windows side.

I spent a few hours trying to figure this out. I have VMware Fusion 3.1 on my MacBook running 10.6.4 and a Windows 7 Ultimate VM. I went to the Machine virtual and added the player shared, changed the permissions read and write. After that, he created a folder on my desktop which has been
. host\Shared folder. I double click the file and it fails. I decided to share the OSX folder as well without success. I made sure my firewall in OSX and Windows 7 is off, still no luck.Any advice?

I'm using VMware Fusion 8.0.0 (2985594) on Mac OS Yosemite (10.10.5 (14F27)) and I have a Linux VM with Debian Wheezy (3.2.0 - 4-amd64) and PHP (5.4.41 - 0 + deb7u1).
After I've upgraded from VMware Fusion 7 WMware Fusion 8, the (open source CMS) Typo3 on my development machine began to throw PHP syntax errors during playback of its cache files. As I investigated the problem I found that the behavior is reproducible, but only when the files are written to the folder that is shared between the host system and the VM.
When I'm demanding a PHP a certain file size and a certain name of file, PHP seems to continue reading about the end of the file in the middle of the arbitrariness of other files. This leads mainly to errors in syntax PHP - but according to the name of the file that they differ, for example:
PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '' in require284.php on line 93 PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '' in require107.php on line 88 ^[[APHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected 'p' in require472.php on line 88 PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected end of file in require884.php on line 88 PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected 'u' in require185.php on line 89
All of these errors are generated by requiring the same content with different file names. If I am demanding the same file with the same name, the PHP error is also the same.
Steps to reproduce
I wrote a PHP script that seeks a different file names for a given text, until it crashes. Store this file in the shared folder and run it with php f. As you can see, all the content of the file is commented out, so it shouldn't affect anything.
<?php $content = <<<'EOT' <?php /*njsRtWyvEHREGDwjZEIuuwOCJidhxoMo lsdTFPMPhCnHYdjylYmAlJtOrNQRZRzFDQsX QAYugjeSRojQLImGMsGzvsNxSdbvIUZbHvVuXfDTJqyXxjbiNoMgiQGVlREJPPacTIbn emIhHyATFwSAHnoTRVtUppVVRoWHDAjMvkoADVBCTJFNT aCUTsQsZbIhyaQoSCWcpuhgPcoWBD bXzAuYZueusNALsxIYTpkaHGGwmLkdkEPsQRSyPojOhCTUksYnAdlr rDfHEzqctbHpFBQkUTOWgYsYKwBzguuNxktJDitUkSDLABoDjYlrQzmtBxRU TRZqbDEgTEGqpFAXbCADhmwVltDJGqvsasypalIThuzA VDJkyuQAQYJoiTyuoMtjeoXtZMVZKhWxWGbChTZjVWcNX ANAKXbsERdugbcApTEjabtRSBvMAjreOdSbCyqBikXMADmzTyIijEwBYhWXzEIQHVn LkasQDaUvNBNJghMrpNBBnqqLaUsoxqjDoGUoQjG uMQEbeYxRcQSICioqjMOLMZZhUbFTOOLdsGHrVSlk IxnyGZMFpCNRqFBOYSbSbyzqhzZyjrkUzjEPXSoZNnbnNsdHVdUKosgpVCDSakQjEgNmUM vmusESUYiXPKKqvPfVghfqmTniFjPUorDvEpGGvRaKln vrQGhLncjvcGQRBWVGKQQVDfbCPRYrJkUTvLpWfIQscGq eaZkNjlIfWCYaWMIHPjUkQNYtEdoJbTCYbHqmQYnaIEsVrYXiqibBWrZIFdcyGdCqLRaW KjYicadGOioWoiYJrrfUjdTwKhNnhppkjhXZdUmWMxfiqetHCVvZfrKieR yhRbxbgbeORKMVxFmLmTexQhALUTNkOGhjaESxabCZSbcMlNLhz QnRzjUstpUDJpAcRLSjpPGSwaPKaVqdXrlXsHRtCFpbaEhocTxUAgPKwFvTskukCbCItNS vSDsuvlhCtMwYLOQRaJkSfbCaSlUsKZLVnuESjFwiAuJvIumSiCAHYBjpOFWvS pPRnkwaQCgYUtrHujVaEvxQ NtmJNjkSoCTvMzLXvmDBnymC pddMGqTojVadloHtRkipEFiZrWIsCXaqdayQWzynSiXtBIjesEguDtIfmd ZmkZrfNbXmtaUiOBvVvKmFaHePX CVCGMVGYjzjXyELANgIyAcsjfvdaGdDEttAofjawnondQuScwBUrAUdYxxerNG llGfZwYymZrykyajgjRGkDMpREVsybITgbTlgfhJUWJgGAtEM yskdfRkKDBaSfgSgLpKgQBmHybHxo EMlIkmGTopRdwcNxzLZigZxhakIcdGtlXVrEyPEgrxzG wxEFZcpSvgNUsiEVKZsdWGnSFiypJLvRnBUPGNa crmUUXjOENCuxstveIQFfhZYLmUljXEMIkH pBpmdMAMuBmTWlYZHOgxnPxQeHpMnTDnQRTmBRpoSRHZABhiQO qGksOOcpPKfcKhpdQVDvOcUzjsHIrIUSndRreDHdMtxmorrfaUyNmvuS uzQQlEcZXpaILAbCXblyXNQxARvGcRSyXDdAwZuBACpQJkZZNBJSkf ptcApSlflVBLBxGGtQLBWgoLciHHZsgixDFWqejANmDqiVWhGwQzQKpcNPH KIWUpmzHnUVBNBJCxaQKsy lRQCfqSWaiqkpyKmodooVOlEcmiUfElZhoDwhWnivqeEqWOEEJRRlbAPdlAJioAXBZpTXc pUzpJRxevfDotRbgqCtdzqIXrCahDDnLqymyREXzAvmMniQghmwbMIdnprCsdpxtsvGplq ArYJDZfLGhQVEyzwnPyavPgdvbpIKQyTCwgjiZuQUPQumlcKllkDRfErLLqyNGrLMHBpzY biPHNtPYGjrYztLOYhaoPmyVahPtiojqptGVQwbKmrFiqNfSv nnHyvOuEgLWZxCfrfmAbCspFUYMugmGZZlXFMSYfUlOQxcsOxpSUOEfvI ztnBZJKMbEoQZfRzbnQkUXC kXEEPviTpYGNrikuJbkfXSyALJmFIzmVamWouZqAwGanZFCSiN AVUDwCPZWUJNIrmUwpaoSWTGKmtkev uaKSTGLYHTvKAFQRFnMbCBEJQbpgrxOUYTTLGExcQokfKVmEhaCjK xBqwGyJyqvscyLMQlsgzfXnIKUZZZfNwsu IVwNskHoJTBrRMtKTaxcgoKyUEVONWywwxKbCMMqcw aryEooyClPfmWeLRdMGcIDUhWKMztUQrsQmKwTVVXUOxZnMwxr PuKuPRLLYsvbvUUIXNVSkdITWLTOmCQrbFEArsfwpTIQYmRNPDLvJheP HFSyzYzvuVUQHsahuUQqiPBaDEYJuiySqZfVYPqsaKEm aNsbVyGFRpNREYAcFoFLbCNRa jQfdxcrOqGHQkcuqGxTMHoGSgAmVAxpPMmhtwRUCKshdXLNnggmuOhgbClYbUzmiBwQ UOcNuUNpmEJwDHGpQLEHzIrFlJlEJALIhQyEpYgcVzsmHIffBBpbhnidaK SIjqXPyiGTTCUSCZdqZcXOUVCGgAZZuzgpVpjVYkRArhZgHNc pbjeIcbCtYZKhvCdxRSVloKVDGXLYqnbjBJZtieEGYprYWtDRH pDIELcriTtSXVsTnHBboDfxHJemyOwmPqCDjJjdFsm wUKVYearKMHOwWgptjVJAEresgHifdhkdQdKfrYXJUrtyXqTDUbYOjCsCOEnoWZJDiFt JmzMKbzvfZDmhFHRnMATdBOcFOiicGGTYEQhvKjazZNgXTP abtSIvcZpQXNDiAIBIRkwOKqLjemQjUHywrfCHNxCNRmMosAOGTHEzCqNfcxQQmTvUx puCzHyJacoGHtUDhVLDlcCXBytJpJDOIEUtDcWxENdHXfhGaRnfJKZpOsRaEstLopUBoUv vWJvmIRLprUJlMiNqdrPD PrXisnQvcMbmZwMrgaZcJcIuFlpuJXwtzasYQHUrTinNtXJYxKftihuApOxUFpSxyjqbWW CqHRWXTrsTIuXEZbjNCEwhPNAZoqlAoQD XWanteqzjVEzbBIhCEeWsnjdzCWORDAXfPKvJZIfb qMHQasPmLItsTsxijJrkQbaowAPjJyasyilAYTwSg wefnnxtBFkoYMEXoZiYdKtEqoGtnymFqkvuLHxOmv bNjqEWbtxaioqkYPmwXKaqAxQLHJHmJTfJBZymDLvx obVmpstUZETvYISUiqySvemOXCzjuWGvfgC FKJCBTIdSbbnlvKIkBqbMhAhwkAQMexej oWBdyunrwxJuWtHsLtIcveTYmCATjiEDoZuggrAxlQhjlUMtMYR TqkWuIblrRzKHhNWaGPOd ouYgqSMhhngaisNrySZEoJuZrFXHlfPqfWoEZzOiqMqilx sQOTKTweognuFhfrluhjAXa PqplUMYbKtCvcHYhpcgShKmulTWLprLohwqAWMNyTcNYZJFcWtn UwOXvcdCeJiQrEsCycJwSyZJqrsaiSVFcPOMQKCJqRhfAgBmmgDvdsFUIqHWiagR wjRmbEIMrDpJXKqGRndpTUfbpjwlpmBtUOIbdngG MmItcEisVEgXUnnvEiTIhMPRazVFEplnBfYQWqLMi HGZZdDnjVLjluFnDlFLHWseOeJXSFjrfBUXLcIoITqozfHolhIdCmHUsKKYtnng FrlAfGIMXlQRYfsaigOJABjLRknqdIbZlZVcLOqjKYmPcjrHH SLrsFrNInZMHVeWJHPKwGFKNapGNMgXFqtPOdB KExsWUQXnoORsjShtiRRCTYSKwSAhQjgZbzwRHTsiWGIukdOD PJKBKqUvyQvWlsrJENAeNLiVTDapsYAnqQwYFuskUVaWHtditUJpiFVsJwKytWu aihAvXNVkxTqixFtPumJDocWAmvocxDHZtUzCcEoFHdwFzclKlAdfLOuhZgqZDTptmXii DgYmqpKdlbCtenKLhAVrWmJuDofoWpCPHWYdtjXZiYajKuFh GGyFSgSVkGRwVakkZafdGvOMHalwDyeOZY oFrLUGOVbaHClgsfLepNpHagKdPzLGnilQUAbPyiSrVcIiJaChvlYOIIWWPRPl */ EOT; for($i = 0; $i < 1000; $i++) { // generate a random number $rnd = rand(0, 1000); $filename = 'require' . $rnd . I wrote another script to generate the build the combination of text and name of the file that is causing the problem:
<?php // the decimal ASCII code of all upper and lower case chars $ascii_alpha_chars= array_merge(range(65, 90), range(97, 122)); // how many tries $count = 500; $out= ''; for($i = 0; $i < $count; $i++) { // generate a random number of files $lines = rand(70, 90); $out =''; for($j = 0; $j < $lines; $j++) { // ...and a random number of chars on each line $rand = rand(30, 70); $out .= get_random_chars($rand) . "\n"; } write_and_require($out); // echo "$i\n"; } function write_and_require($out) { // write the content to a file, require it, and delete it $sourceCode= "<?php\n/*n$out\n*/\n"; for($i = 0; $i < 50; $i++) { $rnd = rand(0, 1000); $filename = 'require' . $rnd . '.php'; // echo "$filename\n"; file_put_contents($filename, $sourceCode); require_once($filename); unlink($filename); } } function get_random_chars($n) { global $ascii_alpha_chars; $out = ''; for($i = 0; $i < $n; $i++) { // add a random char $out .= chr($ascii_alpha_chars[array_rand($ascii_alpha_chars)]); } return $out; }
This problem occurs only for the upgrade of VMware 8 and only when the script runs in the shared folders, I strongly suspect that it is a problem within the VMware stack.
Can anyone elso reproduce this behavior?
Hello
If you use the kernel of an open-vm-tools HGFS customer then yes there are bugs because the version provided with that was broken and not tested. People has not listened to my complaints about it.
Current recommended approach is to always use the installation of VMware tools for the shared folders feature.
Open-vm-tools are used to install tools user mode only. We try to make all of the features available with these, including a file sharing client FUSE based. Version 10 of the open-vm-tools will have this.
Stick with VMware tools install for now for file sharing.
Thanks for your great art information and debugging this issue.

I just upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 on my Macbook, the latest version of Fusion 3. A close I would say file sharing does not work. When I look at the computer ads I see "(shared folders).
(VMware-hôte) (z) "and it is X - ed out with a big red X. Save one of my applications in a shared folder and now it won't work. It is said that he cannot access the shared folder. Also, when I ask to install VMware Tools, it fails at some point again due to the inability to access shared folders.Anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?
Glenn Gabanski
1. turn off the shared folders
2 uninstall, not fix, VMware Tools
3. open shared folders
4. install VMware Tools

I already disabled all devices even sharing folders by going to system preferences. Here is a picture of a computer does not exist apparently shared in my laptop (unless this unit is my printer?). Anyone could explain what it is or how to turn it off completely. I can also extract information from this "PC."
Thanks in advance.
"Shared" means made available to see you and possibly use.
This does not mean that you share something in return. Ignore it.

sharing is only working for some websites of Internet connection
Wi - Fi my laptop is steady as a rock, but the wireless adapter I have for my office to cancel very often, so I decided to connect both via an ethernet cable and use internet connection sharing so that the Office can enjoy wireless laptop. Both computers have Windows 7 Home Premium installed.
The Installer seems to work, but only for some Web sites - for example, it has no problem to connect to google and microsoft.com using ICS, but he absolutely refuses to connect to facebook but also many other Web sites. My laptop has no problem connecting to websites that my office cannot connect, so I'm puzzled as to why it seems to be able to relay connecting to some Web sites, but not others. Can someone help me understand what is happening here, so that I can access more than just pieces of the internet on my desktop?
I'm sorry, but you can understand how annoying it can be when someone does not even time to read your question and posts nothing but completely irrelevant, canned solutions (who would would realize that they were not relevant if they had taken the time to read it instead of just copy - paste * based on the title of the post). It's worse than no help at all, because then people who might bring if not actually useful assistance will see oh, "this question has already been answered" and move to one that was not. In any case, I'll try to ask in this forum. Thanks for the suggestion.

Permissions to download content for the contents of shared folders
Full administrators can download content to the shared folders of content? All the documents I can find says that only the author can, but in practice, we find that full administrators can also download content for folders as well.
Is this true for anyone else?
Admins can do anything except content download and host meetings during the use of the license for the meeting of the named host. You must be a member of the authors or host the meeting of groups to download items to the content library.

I have two computers on a network using the P2P architecture. I created shared folders on both computers. Why only administrators can access the two shared folders on XP?
Users generally are able to see one way the two will not both.
Hi AnnPThompson,
I would have you look at this article that has more information on Peer-to-Peer network environment. Please go through the documentation and see if it answers some of your questions.
In addition, for more information, take a look at this.

Vista can ping machine to another, but cannot access shared folders on the machine
Hi experts,
Recently, we have problems with some Vista machines to access shared folders on other Vista machines. This seems to happen after the automatic updates of windows.
These 'problem' machines are able to ping other machines 'good' but is unable to connect to shared folders machines 'good '.
The reverse works fine ('good' machines can ping and access 'problem' machines).
When you connect to folders shared of these 'problem' to 'good' machines machines using \\machinename\folder or even \\machine_ip\folder, the error window "the network location cannot be reached" appears.
'Problem' machines can do desktop connection remote for the machines 'good '.
All machines have the parameters: -.
Same workgroup
Same domain - private network
Network discovery on
File sharing on
Public folder sharing
Password protected sharing
I am not able to find a solution on the web site and microsoft.
Re-install Vista on 1 machine of 'problem' and the problem goes away.
The problem with reinstalling is subject to re-registration of certain software licenses which has no registration online (through applications for certificates).
Is there a resolution without having to re - install Vista?ltkhoo

Access to another system of Win7 has stopped working for some reason any
I have 2 systems Win7 Ultimate x 64 on a network. These two systems have been able to share files etc for a while using standard file sharing both in a home network. For some reason, I was on the road for a few weeks and when I came home and connected to the network I am more able to reach other Win7 systems. I can Ping the systems IP address but not by name (I get the message "Ping request can not find host xxxxx."). If I do a 'net view', I see the host name but can use net use to access the shared drive (error system 53). Since the home network, I can see the system and open the view which shows the 'Documents', 'Videos' etc., but records by clicking on the folders just returns without having to open the folder.
Clues as to what perhaps is the problem or how can I do to diagnose the problem.
Thank you
