  We live another problem with NI MAX.  We have Lookout 5.1 and 6.2 on a stand alone and a Virtual Machine, both with the same problem.

  When you attach a database, we select the 4 Citadel, the wizard opens.   By clicking Browse results in closing the window and MAX unresponsive.  If we enter the path manually and click OK the same problem arises.

  No excessive use of resources, no other weird not to mention that MAX being completely useless windows requiring a force close.

  First of all I apologize for bugs in the Citadel 4 support.

  My idea was to use MAX installed with belvedere 6.1 to attach and convert the database. If you install the Lookout 6.1 on a clean machine. At least there's no higher version of installed Lookout.

• To configure a serial port using Max

  I inherited the code that configures the serial port using the old serial code that does not allow the user to specify the term tank and turn on the tank of the term. Any ideas on how this is done with the old serial code? I also tried to use MAX to set the term tank and allow it, I am able to communicate with my device series with Max and I saved the changes when I was.   What you do to the MAX to the extent where the configuration of the serial port have no impact on the LabVIEW program. (EDIT: which means that you can change the configuration in the LabVIEW code.)

  If you load the old code in a version of LabVIEW using VISAS for all the stuff of series then the screw would have been automatically replaced by shell screw that NEITHER created for the old code. Inside, they use just VISA. More than probably the old code use via digital port numbers. For example, in the library of \vi.lib\Instr\serial.llb of , you will see these shell screw Serial Port' writing' for example, calls the 'Open Serial Driver' VI which simply returns a VISA session. It then uses the Write VISA. So you can define characters of termination by obtaining the VISA of "Serial Driver Open" resource.

  Of course, the best solution is to rewrite the code using VISA directly. It will be much cleaner.

• Unable to connect/configure PSC 2020 using MAX

  It's something like 'part II' to try to use the serial ports on our PSC 2020.

  I received a lot of help and valuable advice from Ravens Fan and others of the Spanish community in regards to the series, and I really appreciate their help.

  However, just at the point where I was about to make the first test, after you advise them, someone in my Department decided, there are a few days to clear (or format) all the contents of the memory of one of our CFP-2020. In addition, there is an another PSC 2020 which was unused for a long time. Well, the point is that none of the two controllers is seen by MAX, and therefore they cannot be configured by MAX either. Both are simply a blank space (i.e. nothing appears) under remote systems or devices and interfaces or another area in the configuration tree.

  Another important detail, we used an earlier version (4.xx, I guess) and also a newer version (7.x.x, I guess) of MAX trying to win again the communications. None of these versions could not communicate with one of the CFP-2020. In other words, none of these versions could establish communication or to show a sign of life of one of the two controllers. We test the wiring and it worked perfectly with the other PSC 2020 we have in existence.

  I guess that LabVIEW 7.1 or 8.0 (versions that we have) will not be able to communicate with controllers or if MAX has failed before. Am I right?

  Is there another way to see (contact) the CFP-2020?

  Is there a procedure for 'must - after setting shaped' that we are missing?

  This behavior has something to do with the DIP switches in the cFP2020?

  Is it possible to say if controllers are broken (fatal hardware failure) or if it's just a matter of software configuration?

  I am pleased to have been able to help so far.  Let me see if I can help even more.

  First of all, to find a big stick and go fight anyone who formatted your controller overhead.

  Second, if you don't see anything under remote devices, I'll guess that the controller has been the installation of another IP address on a different subnet than where you are now.  I would try the instructions on page 3-6 of this Manual to reset the IP address.  That set it back on a 0.0.0.0 address who should make them findable by MAX again.

  Thirdly, MAX is up to version 4.6.2 (perhaps under minor version or two later.)  So, I'm not sure "newever version 7.x.x" unless you have a version number of LabVIEW.  Yes, you will certainly get the controller found in MAX before LV can work with it.  Definitely check the DIP switch as safe mode and reset the IP.  It is possible, that there is an incompatibility of drivers fieldpoint between the remote control and your LV version but I think that the two would have to endure somehow offset, otherwise you wouldn't be able to update the fieldpoint drivers in the controller.

  If there is a problem with the controller, I don't know how to determine that.  A person of OR may be able to help.  I think that the most likely scenario is that the last IP address defined for the controller corresponds to the setting for your PC or network, you are now, in which case the IP reset should help that.

• How to 'book' an Ethernet cDAQ chassis based in software without using MAX?

  I am using a cDAQ 9188 with Ethernet interface. It works fine, but the Setup is a little more than I like for end-users. Users are all first go to MAX and do make a connection. After that, users must 'reserve' the chassis to ensure access to it. This isn't a problem except that I still have to find a way to make the code G. I have rather not in my documentation would include a series of steps require that the user enter MAX whenever they want to turn on the system.   Hello, I was hoping you guys could help out me with a big problem, I ran across when trying to install Windows 7 on a desktop computer new, custom - build. I managed to successfully install my Windows 7 64-bit, it appeared, but when I try to run it, that I will meet a black screen that says "Setup is preparing your computer for first use" and it will stay there forever, I would say. I let it run all night and didn't go anywhere.

  I would like to understand if this is a limitation with Oracle XE that causes this problem. It seems to me that the problem is to select the MAX value in the variable that has been set. Executing the query directly from sqlplus does not generate an error, and therefore do not feel there is an error with the SQL code. The only time that we can't get the error is with the INTO statement.
  
  Is there a way to use the function as it has been defined in production? Why the ORA-06502 error would be thrown? It does not seem to make sense to me. Would appreciate any guidance on this.

• PDF attached used open - problem just started

  This week, a PDF file attached to an e-mail gives error message "error downloading, the download could not be saved, because an unknown error occurred - try again. On the download window, the message is "failed, resource mailbox. Yet, I can save the file to the desktop and open it.

  I went and changed the options of attachments to use my own Adobe Reader instead of the (in Thunderbird) option. Now by clicking on the attachment in Thunderbird works fine. There must be something wrong with the drive of Thunderbird.

• Ehternet Instrument IP address using MAX

  I have several instrument (PS, freq counter etc) which are the instrument of ethernet. I'm trying to find:

  1. If the IP address can be changed in the form of LabVIEW for each instrument? It is after that the aircraft is initially configured with an IP address and not it is moved to a different subnet. Also, when the IP address is changed to the MAX instrument automatically identifies the IP has changed to this instrument or MAX needs to be updated?

  2. I would like to read the IP address of each instrument by programming in LabVIEW, during initialization. Once the obtained IP address I have a ping of the instrument using LabVIEW himself.

  As seen in the Service request, this problem was resolved when you demoted to LabView 2012 and reinstalling Max5.5, so we can properly install the Driver NOR-Rio and sees the device to the Max apparently, it was a compatibility issue in versions...

  Just a recommendation for a few cases like this. Please check the compatibility chart before installing an update of LabView in order to have the right version of Driver OR-Rio.
