System BIOS upgrade issues

Envy 17 3D: 17-2090nr

Model LV045UA #ABA

The system was delivered with installed system BIOS Version F.07. I note that the HP download site has published two subsequent versions: F.08 and F.15.

It is advisable to upgrade the BIOS system F.07:

F.08?

F.15?

Are there negatives to installing either of these later versions of the system BIOS?

If I upgrade to F.15, so I have to upgrade in gradin: F.07-> F.08, then F.08-> F.15 or right F.07-> F.15

Hello

Each BIOS version contains fixes and patches of all previous versions, then that means that you can upgrade to the latest version without wories. You can also see the fixes or patches (fix/improvement) for each version of the BIOS on the HP download site so take a look at this and see if you can benefit from the upgrade. Usually works if a computer works well, has no need to upgrade...

  • How to upgrade on ESXi Server system BIOS?

    Hello

I have a Dell PowerEdge 2850 (BIOS Ver A02) installed with the server ESXi 3.5.0

I want to update the system BIOS and want to update the firmware?

Is there any 3rd party bootable utility to the foregoing or can I do it via Server ESXi?

    TIA

    Nadine

What I do is to use the FlashCD utility, which is found here: http://www.bootdisk.com/flash.htm

Select the second link, "Bootable CD to Flash your BIOS. Make sure that your server starts on the CD before the internal HD.

The process is simple. Download the updates you want from Dell to the format BACK. Open the image ISO "Flashcd.iso" in a program of editing/burning the ISO like MagicISO and add any BIOS/Perc firmware, updates etc., you need. Then burn the ISO to a CD and start the server with the CD. You will get to a command prompt BACK, and below the disc from left to right: you will have all your updates firmware Perc BIOS, etc. you've added to the ISO. Then you can just run the updates needed/wanted. It works like a charm and I highly recommend it.

The only thing I found is that the updates of Perc, Dell has a batch file that runs in an attempt to find a piece of information. The batch file does not work correctly because it is trying to write a text file (think it is on a diskette in writing). I have that get around easily by running the appropriate orders to the batch by hand. It takes a little longer, but this isn't a big deal.

  • Aurora-R4 upgrade issues & troubleshooting

Hello, Alien Techies!... I come to you, here, now, humiliated and who have need of the councils for the control box... Let me start by listing my "original specs' followed by 'changes' everything / ALL next to or after (directly below), because I think it may be relevant to my points and questions.  Please note that I started at the time of the purchase with a modified version and upgrade to my request, and they DO NOT take into account the standard.

My problems to surface around Thanksgiving, Christmas, he's 7 months after 3 years I had bought my Alienware.  It was a result of my first major update from Windows 7 to Windows 10.  My PC don't recognize even 10 Windows!  Instead, it / PC been force-fed Windows 10 conversion therapy through Remote Support assistance technique Microsoft.  Shortly after, in the week, was my first MOMENT BIG FREEZE, when out of nowhere, while surfing the internet entered my systems.  I could not even Ctrl + Alt + Delete for task register, fans revved up, and I couldn't do anything else the latest kind of hard reboot - disconnect the PC from socket... It would not happen again for another month or several weeks. And when my PC finally woke from its slumber of drunk and lazy, very, very slowly restarting black screen, try it is harder to take Windows or reject.  It took more time, once the main screen is running, and once he finds Windows.  My processors working OT, until finally about 15 minutes after its start in resting peacefully, the demon banished.  I could play, no problem, but when I was on a browser on the internet, and / or when I arrived 'Automatic updates of Windows' chaos, the demon returns, and the Big Freeze returned.  I know all this only in hindsight, looking back, 20-20.

It would increase only slowly, until the moment where 6 months that I have upgraded to Windows 10, she felt more fits, between half an hour sometimes a few hours at the end.  She's trying to restart, but seems completely Catatonic and unable to meet black screen alien find GOLD Windows and about every other day to once or twice a day.

I replace my hard drive, after he died, and he had pretty much cloned it from the backup of the my new SSHD, listed above.  It's now my second update in less than 2 weeks, in the second week of June 2016 now.  My third update level, all now a few weeks apart, with BIOS A06 to A11.  I don't know why or how that is never presented as lacking a upgrade.  I did a lot of checking, cleaning, defraging and even added a new Trend Micro Security to protect my investment.  AND I STILL see the hiccups like those from my old hard drive.  Nobody seems to be willing or able to diagnose this problem as a problem that pre-existed before my new hybrid Solid State drive... A few days ago, I received an error message through troubleshooting with Trend Micro and do an F5 accumulated prior to departure.  * The error Code 2000 - 8314 and Violation 119539 "- something like CPU error msg thermal 100 c 100 c thermistor PC exceeds the thermal limit out of reach."  I do not know.  Is this one of my chipset, processor or fan around my motherboard?

I want to apologize for this drag all this, but I believe that the devil is in the details.  So, thank you for your patience.  And I appreciate any input at all in my ongoing troubleshooting.  I spent enough money in the last two weeks.  And my own brain is pretty fried at this stage of troubleshooting by internet.

Now, A QUICK or a possible upgrade issues that I hope might actually alleviate part of the symptoms or even problems entirely... I would like to top off my 32 GB maximum RAM with of 4x8Go.  It seems that thought that there are very specific for my Alienware sticks, and I have to stay with this margin does not overwork anything.  I also want to do it myself, as I did with my other Dell Dimension 4700 PC.  I just need directions to wait for him, because I have other fires to put again AND / OR maps specific 8 GB RAM can I work with my R4 Aurora?

    "Play hard and go home!"

REMOVE ALL OverClocks (I suggest permanently if you want a stable system that lasts a long time)

Run Diags ePSA. Repair everything falls down before continuing.

Make sure that the machine is not overheating and SMART is good.

Use usb.iso to try a clean install of Windows 10/64-bit (for one SSD/HDD Virgin) to rebuild from scratch. Perhaps the migration of drivers and legacy applications during the installation of the upgrade was not 100% or you have an incompatible application in Win10 or the installed driver.

A real SSD is faster than any hybrid SSHD. I love real 240 GB SSD as boot C: and install only Windows and main applications on this subject.

16 GB Dual Channel Quad (4x4Go) is very well - don't mess with it.

Never used Trend-Micro-Security. On Win10/64, I use Windows Defender & firewall.

    Maybe try this:
    REMOVE ALL OverClocks
Disconnect existing SSHD (becomes a backup).
Install SSD 240 GB (or 100% perfect player)
    Clean-install Win10-64 to blank disc
Mainly use Microsoft only provided drivers from Windows Update
Install only Win10 updated applications, use Windows Defender & firewall free for now
    See how it works.

  • Satellite U400 - 112 (PSU40E) - Safe BIOS upgrade - SOLUTION

    Dear all,

Trying since long upgrade for the bios of my laptop favorite... Toshiba Satellite U400-112 (PSU40E)
I have Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) English and BIOS version 4.00(until yesterday).
The problem was that, in windows 7 (32 & 64 bit), the tool flash never started the process of update due to several incompatibilities.
There is a solution (in fact a workaround solution) to be honest and works 100%!

    My solution is:

    (A) download the latest bios upgrade version appropriate for your laptop, save it (tomake it is easier in the root of the C:\ drive) and unpack it in a temporary folder (for example: bios).

    (B) use the Hiren's Boot CD a real support from a USB or CD (download and burn a CD or follow the process of CD copy on a USB key).

    (C) boot the laptop from the CD or USB flash and in Hiren's Boot Menu, select the version of mini Windows XP.

    (D) allow completely Windows XP startup and then run the tool to update the bios flash from the temporary folder. The update procedure make it exactly as it is described in the manual of the bios update. (If you are not experienced)

    (E) it will update the bios, and then he stops himself. Then you can start normally your operating system, remove any CD or USB key mounted on it.

I hope you find it helpful and convenient.

    Best regards

    Ioannis

To be honest I updated the BIOS on my U400 (running Win 7 32 bit), A210 (Vista) and Tecra A10 (Win 7 64 bit) using the victory as the BIOS version and never had any problems in running the tool
Anyway thanks for sharing your knowledge with the community

    Hello

On the page of the driver Toshiba Tecra 540 section, you will find two packages of BIOS.
A package 8.00 - TRAD BIOS contains an exe BIOS Tecra 540 and some pdf documents that described how to upgrade the BIOS.

In addition the document FAQ Toshiba + how to upgrade the BIOS on my Toshiba laptop and where can get the latest version of the BIOS for my machine? + provides a step by step instruction.

Please check this last point * the 7 BIOS upgrade procedure *.

    It is said:
    For all models except those listed in the procedures (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6)
So if your model is not in the procedures at the beginning then you will have to use the last procedure 7

  • Re: Need Satellite 1800-804 - BIOS upgrade

    Hello!

I would like to know where I could find the BIOS upgrade?
    I updated Win Win XP.

    Hi Aki

You can upgrade Windows ME to Windows XP without updating the BIOS!

The update of the BIOS would not affect the installation of Windows XP.

    Perhaps an important fact is not known to you;
The update of the BIOS is always risky and should ONLY be done to fix some bugs.

In your case, it seems that you want to change only the operating system and therefore the update of the BIOS is not really necessary on your Sam 1800.

Anyway, if you looking for XP drivers then you might find it on the page of the European driver Toshiba-> * area of ARCHIVE

  • HP Envy x 360: updated HP Notebook System Bios (Intel processor)

I updated my BIOS version before (about a month) but I just found out that the HP Notebook System Bios Update (Intel processor) would have been forgotten. I actually cancelled this update and when I tried to do it again once it does me no more. I contacted the HP Chat Support at that time here and they said that my laptop was very good. I got a blue screen of death once and that's all. It was the only issue I've had with my laptop. After that I have updated to the latest version of the update of the birthday a week ago w10. I don't have any problems with it, my laptop works well. I have not encountered any problems. I just reccently bought this 2 months ago.

Well recently, I got an update in the HP Support Assistant about an update to the Intel 10 series driver. I contacted HP Chat Support and they said that my laptop doesn't have the driver. It was an update General and not directed to any specific PC. Long story short, he said as I have no need, I don't need to update and that my laptop was fine. The Windows 10 anniversary update... Well updates everything that said the tech.

    I was just wondering:

    1. is the HP Notebook System BIOS (Intel processor) update updated CRITICISM that I really need to find a link or something to update?

    2. is it harmful that I have doesn't have the update?

    3. do I really need updating?

    4. is this the reason that the HP Support Assistant advised me on the Intel 10 series driver?

My Version of the Driver is: 20.19.15.4377

I hope that I have provided all the information that might help you to help me solve my problem.

Answer all my answers and also explain are GREATLY appreciated.

I thank very you much in advance!

    @PaulineTan

Thanks for the reply to my post,

And Yes you have covered everything, I hope!

The 10-anniversary of windows update would install all updates driver concerned as well, so the BSOD issue you referred previously.

    (1) Although the update is not important, you can go ahead and install it as at the moment (this is optional).

    (2) Yes, you can, basically, there is nothing to worry about.

    (3) No, it is not critical.

    (4) No, it will not damage your computer.

More updates to the bios contains a fix for the specific issues, published by the manufacturer of the motherboard (bios) and at this point because you don't have any problems on the computer, you don't have to install it.

Let me know, if you need anything else!

    Kind regards.

  • X 360 HP spectrum: spectrum HP x 360 BIOS upgrade using SCCM

    Hello!

I'm currently loaded with a BIOS upgrade mass to 500 + HP Spectra x 360 changeable and I was hoping to do this using SCCM 2012 as I already have for other desktop computers and laptops

Previously, I would have created a cmd file using hpqFlash.exe or HPBIOSUPDREC.exe, however, I can't be working:

hpqFlash.exe - BIOS is downloaded from HP in an exe format that I can get from .bin & .sig files, but this tool requires a .cab file

HPBIOSUPDREC.exe - after you have retrieved the BIOS for .bin files, this tool is complaining that they are not in the correct naming convention 2013 BIOS and I get about 4 of each?

Then. Does anyone have this successful previously? I have to rename the correct naming convention .bin files, if so, how would like to know this?

    * EDIT - we also use bitlocker so it may need to be disabled before a BIOS upgrade? All I really need is the command line and can go from there!

    Thanks in advance!

According to the HP Support, it couldn't be done... BUT... Turn on you can put a/q on the extracted exe and it will install silently... Not that he mentions that in the BIOS, notes...

Finished by editing this script below and copied to a location of the account SYSTEM is able to access: https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/Suspend-Bitlocker-and-0e3d43c0

    schtasksCreateCommand = ' schtasks/create /TN "" bitlockerscript"" /XML "«\\domain.local\NETLOGON\HPBIOS\bitlockerscript.xml»»»

(I used an .xml file to give me more options on the task even on battery, because we want this task to force bitlocker on the drive to the next opening, if it worked or not).

Then, creating a new application in SCCM with source files (containing a copy of the script) pointing to a batch file that contains:

    cscript.exe bitlockerstatus.vbs
    Timeout/t 10
    0804FF35.exe/q
    Timeout/t 600

(Waiting times were just for me to ensure that the system BIOS before SCCM installation asks for a restart).

To force the restart I changed the return codes:

    Soft reboot 0

    1707 soft reboot

    3010 soft reboot

Finally... I created a rule of detection using this script below to detect the installed BIOS version:

"Change of strBIOSUpdateVersion to the version that you deploy.
    strBIOSUpdateVersion = "F.35.
' Get the Version of the BIOS from Win32_BIOS
    Set objWMI = GetObject("winmgmts:{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\.\root\cimv2")
    Set colBIOS = objWMI.ExecQuery ("Select * from Win32_BIOS")
    For each objBIOS in colBIOS
    If objBIOS.SMBIOSBIOSVersion > = strBIOSUpdateVersion Then
    WScript.Echo "detected".
    End If
    Next

Hope this helps to all the

  • Self Extracting BIOS upgrade fails

I have a Pavilion 15-n096ea with the original BIOS.  I think that sp64555 is the upgrade of the BIOS for this.

The downloaded file works on Windows and can either upgrade the BIOS, create a bootable USB drive that upgrades the BIOS or just put the BIOS firmware on disk for future use.

I went for the second option because I can't use the first because I am not running Windows on my laptop.

My problem is that if I create the USB bootable on another laptop (not HP) which is running Windows 8.1, sp64555 seems well and told me that the USB was created and to insert it in the correct computer and restart.

However, when inserting it into my house, I tells me that the USB drive is not bootable.  I tried this with 3 different stick, which one had a top first bootable filesystem I tested to work.  That, to me, shows that the Pavilion and the USB key work properly, but the image created by the download may not correctly create the USB.  I tried to create the USB for Windows XP also, but the software has not found the USB key.

    I'm doing something wrong?

Just for the closure.  I ended up saving all of my work on an extrnal-hard disk before you reinstall Windows 8 on the laptop in order to apply the upgrade of the BIOS.  Which had been applied once, I reinstalled Linux on the laptop and restored the files.

Work a day of total to see that upgrading the BIOS does not resolve the problem, I had in the first place!

As the upgrade procedure. I noticed that with Windows installed, gave me the option of updating the BIOS from the menu of boot UEFI (ESC key at startup).  I think there's some added additional UEFI software when it is reinstalled Windows on the laptop which is used to upgrade the BIOS.  There is also choice was diagnosed with additional system in the menu too.  When I installed Linux, I chose to delete the Windows UEFI system partition and in the process lost the BIOS upgrader and diagnostic tools.

  • Aurora R3 system BIOS A11

    Hello

I have an Aurora R3 and installed Windows 10 - which went quite easily (with many thanks to all users and their useful son on how to do this).

Since the installation of Windows is not new - upgrade - I decided to just check the Dell website for available drivers and downloads. When I entered my service number, in the downloads, I see the following:

    Alienware Aurora system BIOS, A11

    File name: Aurora - A11.exe
    Important: recommended
    Description: Windows/DOS (1.94 MB)
    Release date: June 17, 2013
    Version: A11, A11
    Last updated: June 17, 2013
    --------------------------
Now, I don't have any problems at the moment and certainly not looking for anything :)
But I was wondering, since I have seen many complain Dell do not update the BIOS to the R3, does anyone else know this download? Has anyone tried to install this BIOS?

    It is said...

    Compatible systems:
    Alienware Aurora
    Alienware Aurora ALX

    ... that is the Aurora-R1, R3 not.

  • Dell XPS 13 stop during sleep after bios upgrade

Recently updated my BIOS Dell XPS 13 L321X-the worm 8. Since then, whenever I close the lid and put the laptop to sleep for several hours, the processor seems to come and the backstory is very hot. When the cover is opened, the screen remains blank and no wake mode 'sleep'. The only recourse is to make a hard stop with the power button and then restart. The laptop restarts then black screen troubleshooting, or select the normal startup of windows. Since then, I tried to update all the drivers, but still no luck. He continues to run hot and won't start after placing the phone in sleep mode.

    Any help is appreciated!

    Divider ~.

    Thanks for the quick response!

To review, my problem started when I updated the BIOS to ver. A08. Before reading your solution, I ended up flashing my BIOS downgrade - worm. A07.

I started a series of applications and then closed the lid, let go in mode "Eve". After a long period of time, I opened the lid and the wake of the computer normally with no issue. No screen cases, no empty overheated. And not need a hard stop and restart with the power button.

Hope that this remains the case, I will record your steps suggested in case reports of problem, but so far, it seems that BIOS upgrade vA08 was the problem and a reflash with v A07 was the solution.

Toshiba said for the upgrade of the traditional Bios use the key"toshisba" to the left of the space bar to the 6100, I tried this nothing happens

And how risky are Bios upgrades running Windows

everyone updated the 6100 to worms 1.9? That's what I want to do
to stop this annoying missing USB

    Jack

    Hello

No, I don't think that it is more risky to have the upgrade of the Bios from windows then the traditional way.
I found this info in the Toshiba document that describes the procedures to update the BIOS:

For the current offers in the range of Toshiba laptops two different BIOS update procedures.

1 Windows base update: BIOS is updated to Windows.
    2. traditional update: BIOS is updated using a floppy disk or a CD-ROM when starting.

We recommend that you update the BIOS from Windows.

At least one and that 14 of the foregoing have occurred daily since the upgrade.

I can't: a) ignore these events, or b) go back to the previous version, or c)?

The solution is to install one version of HP Support Assistant, other than the 8.1.40.3 version (such as downloaded in sp72974.exe) which does not have State errors.  So far there are no other version available on the HP download site. For now, I uninstalled the support Assistant.
