System does not start - HP a6514f PC

Hey,.

My name is Daniel. I have a HP a6514f PC. I have almost 2 years. It was the 32-bit version of Windows Vista. I went to turn it on the other day and got the blue screen of death. I turned it off and let it sit for a while. The next time I went to turn it on, nothing happens. Turns on the pc, but it does not start and the monitor does not even recognize that the pc is on. Any help?

It might be time for the local PC repair shop.  You hear beeps when you turn on the PC?

Try this first: unplug your computer and open it. Now carefully remove and replace all the wires going to the motherboard.  Do the same for memory DIMM and the video card if you have one installed.  If there is a slide switch red near where your power cord goes to the PC, and then move it back.  Now plug your PC give a TI a go.

When connected to the charger make a forced reboot: hold the home and sleep buttons, wait for the Apple logo, release the buttons. May take a few tries.

    Hello

As you are able to boot to the desktop in Mode safe, it means that the third-party application prevents the computer from starting in normal mode. To check you can configure the computer to clean start State and then try to boot into normal mode and check what is happening. To set up its own start-up follow the link below.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

If the problem does not continues when the computer is in the clean start State follow the steps listed to identify which application is causing the problem.

Note: When you are finished troubleshooting, follow step 7 article to start on normal startup.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Vista 64-bit Black Screen of Death, with just a mobile available slider, the system does not start in safe mode.

My system worked properly on 25 April and then something happened and now the machine comes back with "Start menu options" but will not start in one of the listed options, modes result in the same outcome.  System also starts on the Vista CD.

System begins to boot normally, shows the tracer Green Windows at the bottom of the screen, then the mouse pointer appears and moves but the rest of the screen remains black.

That's it, that's all what he will do.  I checked the settings of the computer and ran the diagnostic tests available and everything seems to go fine and passes all the tests.

I worked on my own computers for over 20 years and never been stumped before, but I must say this is a first, and I have no idea what to try to do it now.

    Help or direction is appreciated.

original title: Vista 64-bit Black Screen of Death, with just a mobile available slider, the system does not start in safe mode.

See if there is a way to tecover clean your data before doing a restore to conditions of factory that will wipe the drive of all.  You can use Knoppix http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html with a good ISO as Copier: http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm as well as a blank CD (which you will need to do on another computer).  Starting on this disc and lla should give you enough access to the system (if you do not have any other means) to backup your important data.

So since you seem to have no other alernatives, you can try retoring the original factory computer options. However, if it is a hardware problem as could very well be the case, you can still encounter problems after even this drastic step.  Then you will need to consider in a reputable computer repair shop (NOT Geek Squad or or a any of these big store centers) or maybe even go back to the manufacturer for repair.   Check out several options and compare the costs, quality and guaranteed and then make your best decision.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite Pro 6100 system does not start

    Hi people,
I have the following problem. I used my laptop long enough for thet to deplete battery and the device to go into hibernation. Given the againm battery costs, I tried the system and now it does not start.
The leds light up fine and stay lit upwards. Just nothing happens, the FN key works. After a minute the fan will start to turn upwards and turns down again. But nothing else.
After some time, by pressing the power button for a few seconds seems to start the machine, but it stops immediately after 30 seconds. Even if doing a memtest.

anyboy has any idea what could cause this. I tried to remove the hard disk and start it does not affect what anyone, as does move the RAM module in the other slot. Also remove the CD/RW drive does not affect it. Remove the battery and start also give the same result.

    Hello

Sorry, but tells you don't know is not enough for me.
If you start Notepad, you see something on the screen?
    A Toshiba start screen appear?

You suggested that the FN key works. Have you checked it in windows?
AFAIK the FN keys can work only if the operating system has been launched and the drivers have been loaded. So my strange question.

The whole thing is very strange. If nothing is displayed and the laptop cannot start, so I guess a hardware malfunction. But you know without any trial it s not easy to say what's wrong.

Try to disconnect the laptop from the sector and remove the battery. Wait several times (30 min - 1 hour) then plug the AC adapter and try to start it.
If it won't work and you know that other devices are ok such as RAM or HARD drive so I think that the technician must check the machine.

  • Operating system does not start

My OS (XP) has recently frozen in a never-ending cycle of:

    • Re-boot,
    • With flashing white screen white upper-left
    • Option page prompting me to choose "safe mode, network security, normal, finally, etc..".
    • Re-start again.

M BUT it never restarts.  How to do this?

    -Thank you, ssaucedo

Provide information on your system, the better you can:

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

What is your Internet browser and version?

Your system's disks IDE or SATA drives?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

You have a genuine XP installation CD bootable, which is the same Service as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

What do you see (exactly) that you don't think you should see, and when you see it?

What do not you think that you should see?

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

If there is a problem starting, XP is configured to automatically try to start again and you can stuck in a loop not being able to go beyond the screen boot options, or none of these startup options you choose will work only.

Sometimes, when XP has a problem starting or falls down and tries to start again, it will give you a "short" menu of boot options and none of them will appear to be good to get your system going again.  Something like this:

    Safe mode
    Safe mode with networking
    Safe mode with command prompt
Last good Configuration known (your most recent settings that worked)
    Start Windows normally

    You have tried them all!

The options are similar to the Advanced Boot Options menu XP, but the only option that you need (disable automatic error system reboot) are not offered, because XP went too far during the boot process and offers a limited number of boot options.

If this is the case, you must manually call the Options menu advanced boot yourself until you do not see the option:

Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure

When you get the XP Advanced Options correct start menu you want to see, he has options on it like these:

    Safe mode
    Safe mode with networking
    Safe mode with command prompt

    Enable Boot logging
    Enable VGA mode
Last good Configuration known (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
    Debug mode
Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure

    Start Windows normally
    Reset
    Return to OS Choices Menu

You need to choose in this menu is the option:

Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure

Then if XP does not start normally, you will see an error screen with information and clues about the problem and then you can decide what to do next.

If you do not see the automatic restart on system failure option turn it off, you must reset your system and start typing the key F8 on the keyboard until you see her disable automatic restart on system failure option.

If you miss the window of opportunity F8, you must try again and start tapping the F8 key with more urgency (earlier and more frequently) until you see disable automatic restart on system failure, and then select.

You must keep trying the F8 menu until you see disable automatic restart on system failure option, and select it.

If your system has a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD), we need to know what the screen says:

Here's a BSOD example showing information you provide:

    http://TechRepublic.com.com/i/tr/downloads/images/bsod_a.jpg

Send for the nose and the Red arrows (3 to 4 lines total).

Send all * line STOP message since there are clues in the 4 parameters.

If it looks like there is some kind of name listed in the STOP message file, send this line also.

Ignore the boring text unless it seems important to you.  We know what a BSOD looks like, we need to know what your BSOD looks like.

Answering queries and results report of the disable automatic restart on system failure screen and you can decide what to do next.

  • [Solved] pc with xp home edition as the operating system does not start after installation of SP2 via automatic updates

Hello everyone. After formatting my hard drive I reinstalled windows xp edition sp1 family and then installed the latest version of windows update agent. I have the auto update set to download the updates automatically and notify me when they are ready to be installed. Initially, he found 3 updates that I installed and rebooted. He concluded 58 updates. Again, I've installed and restarted. After that, we found ServicePack 2, I installed as well. But after the reboot, the pc does not start. What I get is the windows xp logo which discoloures after a few seconds and I don't see a bar moving from left to right. I left it like that for 3 hours, but nothing has changed. Also, it does not start in safe mode. I get a screen with red and green vertical lines in this case. Anyone know what's the problem? I'd appreciate any help. Thank you.

I was finally able to solve this problem. That's what I did. I reinstalled windows xp home and followed the same path (but his definition of the automatic updates notify me before downloading or installing updates) until the automatic updates found in the new service pack 2. This time that I did not choose to download it. Instead I downloaded from here http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=28 and then started in safe mode and installed. I don't know one that makes the difference but service pack 2 has been successfully installed this time and tha pc was able to start after installation. Before that, I also downloaded and installed the latest versions of 2 drivers through drivermax. I mention this in the case where he has also made a difference. After the service pack 2 installation and restart, automatic updates will be found a few others brought up-to-date, but after installation and reboot, it found no others. I had to visit update windows Internet explore and search for updates it and managed to find other updates and finally SP3.

    Hello

This may be a trial outcome disply to connect an external monitor to your laptop and see if you get display it.

You can connect to an external monitor via VGA or HDMI connection.  The usual process to transfer the video output to an external source is to press and hold the fn key and press f4.  Use the arrow keys to select "Projector" only and press ENTER.

  • Satellite U840W - disc cannot be displayed in disk part operating system does not start

Yesterday I tried to boot my laptop Toshiba Satellite U840W (PSU5XA-001006) and it came with no bootable device - please reboot

When I try to view the disc in the part of the disk, it cannot see that the USB key that I use to try to reinstall Win 8. In the setup of windows 8 I can't display the installation discs. I can't run the recovery because I don't have a recovery disk and repair does not work as it says that the disk is locked.

Don't know what I can do now, would be grateful for all those who had suggestions.

Of course, there is a problem with the internal HARD drive.
If it is not listed in the BIOS (BIOS first page) then the HARD drive died and that's why the system cannot be found.

I guess that in this case, there is only one solution: HARD drive needs to be replaced and the system must be installed again.

  • 3000 N200 system does not start

    Hello

I have a 3000 N200 laptop since 2008. Despite his work both Kapersky and Norton, I got infected with malware Windows Security 2010 in summer. Malwarebytes did not work to get rid of, so I adjusted used rkill at the start to stop upwards. A couple of weeks, I got malware security tools. Now rkill wouldn't work. I tried to follow a manual online guide to remove. He suggested to abolish the EXEs with random numbers. I found one and did, but now the system will not boot to Windows. It goes to a screen with the Lenovo logo and a symbol of rescuer. What should I do? The screen is very nice but there is nothing to click on and no keys work to start any process.

    Maria.

Turn off your computer and run it by pressing a button to retrieve key.

    then follow the instructions.

WARNING: running windows own installation may delete any personal files on the c: volume, so I suggest you back up your data first. In addition, just in case where, under windows, run recovery & restore and burn recovery discs.

  • A60-155: operating system does not start.

I have a TOSHIBA A60-155. When I turn on the laptop it doesn't load the operating system, I have read the manual and apparently it is a self-test failure, I tried selecting all modes start but nothing will work. I have not yet tried any recovery CD the problem started after I pressed the power off because the computer froze. Does anyone have the solution to this problem?

I would also like to know what the BIOS is and what I need to update? my laptop is around the age of six months.

    Hi Ben,

First of all, you need to update your BIOS if your laptop is only a few months old.

Second, the boot sequence for your laptop is a three step process:-

    1. the post OFFICE will verify the functionality of your attached peripheral resources, DVD, disk HARD etc.

    2. the BIOS then load and deal with the allocation of RAM etc and also initialize the functions of the basic system of your laptop.

    3. BIOS bed the Master Boot Record to determine what operating system you have installed will be then load the required system or give you a menu of options which you can choose.

If you press the ESC key as soon as starts the ignition process, you should see the results of the first two steps (the POST and the initial BIOS load).

The fact that you see the selection menu with the choice of types of loads (i.e., Safe Mode etc.) suggests that your system is unable to load your operating system from the hard drive. The fact that none of the options work indicates that there is a fundamental problem with your hard drive.

If you have a bootable CD then I suggest that you try to boot your system from CD (press and hold the F12 key during the first power on sequence and select your CD drive in the list).

Alternatively you can restore your operating system recovery CD, but it will format your hard drive, which results in the loss of your data.

    Hello

Have you created a Toshiba Recovery disk in the past?
If this is not the case, try the procedure for recovery of HARD drive as described here:

+ How to recover a Toshiba notebook with the HDD recovery procedure.
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

If HARD drive recovery is not possible, then you will need to order a recovery disc.

  • Update the system: does not start after upgrading to Windows Vista SP1.

I had the same problem. Called Lenovo, the response was:

N ' - what is Vista come with SP1? No! Then, it is not a supported configuration. You're on your own! Bye: Pei

Well, there is a feature called "Automatic updates" and Microsoft forces you to use - and you're foolish to not use it! In any case, I hope the support to the Denmark, named Thomas, and his bosses to get a better attitude towards customer.

My question was simple. He was missing a Windows Service called "system update". It is implemented in "C:\Program Lenovo Update\SUService.exe.

I had register service menually. There is a tool in the .net framework called InstallUtil.exe. The SUService.exe is implemented in .net, the InstallUtil can help.

Start a command prompt by right-clicking and choosing "run as Administrator".

    Run:

    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\InstallUtil.exe "C:\Program Update\SUService.exe Lenovo."

Modification of traces according to needs. If InstallUtil.exe is missing, it could be part of the .net SDK - do some research on Google.

Go to services (in the contral Panel - administrative tools) and start the newly created service "system update". System update now worked for me.
