  • Designating a system library

Can't I use an external drive for the library system?  When I opened this library, it won't let me choose "use as a library system.

Yes you can - you designate the library system in the Photos of preferences - if the game as library system button is gray it is already the system library or the drive is not suitable for the photo library

Photos of library must be on a drive connected locally to the format Mac OS extended (journaled), which is about through a fast wired connection, not used as a Time Machine backup volume and it should always be available before launch Photos

  • / System/Library of the El Capitan initialization process

    Hello

When I list all processes that are running on my mac os session, it shows me tons and tons of process/System/Library, associated with "Image Capture", "AOSKit", etc. Is this normal? I did not remember to initialize?

I only Chrome, BetterTouch, promotion, F.lux and Terminal programs open and my consumption of memory is almost 4 GB!

Where do I can disable these processes to automatically initialize or are they part of the execution of the El Capitan?

    Thanks in advance,

    Guilherme

You don't have to initialize a process to make it appear. The operating system initializes dozens of processes related to the computer running and providing all the necessary services.

Consumption memory is not directly related to how much apps that you launch. The reserve system of large chunks of memory to improve performance and have the available memory as needed. OS X will try to predict what future memory needs will be.

Do not attempt to disable any process, if you don't know what they are for, or if they are needed. It's a sure way to crash the operating system. What you see in the activity monitor, is to help developers, technicians and others to know what works and if it's causing a problem.

Simple rules: if it works then leave it alone; and, if you don't know what's going to happen and how to fix it, then let it be. If you want to learn more about these different processes, then try searching with Google for this information. However, if you are not a programmer you will find difficult to understand information.

  • System library on the external hard drive at home, macbook pro travel?

I migrated my library 250 GB + opening of the photos app and designated as a system library. It is located in a 5 d Drobo (without optimization, i.e. contains all original), which I can't take with me when traveling. I activated the iCloud 3 days ago photo library library half transferred which is pretty good, I guess.

Then, when I travel I'll take my camera and the Macbook pro along.  I want to change the new photos on the road and not wait until I return home. I want to end up with my new photos in their full versions in the library of Drobo and iCloud.

    1. when I import new photos for my MBP pictures open and create a new library automatically?

    2. If I named this new library as a library system photos will merge with the photos in the cloud?

    3. when I go back and fix my MBP on my Drobo, the new photos will end up in the library of photos of Drobo if I designate as a system library again?

    4. I can then remove the library of 'travel' from my MBP without deleting anything my iCloud and Drobo.

Also, I'm still on Yosemite. I was already on El Capitan 10.11.1, but upgrading to 10.11.2 was a nightmare, installation stalled repeatedly, I couldn't go back 10.11.1 because it stagnates too and had to return to Yosemite 10.10.5 back up I got the time machine. Photos is 1.0.1. MBP is mid-2014.

I understand a improvements in El Capitan pictures, but

    5. the foregoing have an effect on my problem 1-4.

    I hope someone can help.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Olli-Matti

    1. when I import new photos for my MBP pictures open and create a new library automatically?

When you launch Photos and your library is not available because the drive is offline, Photos will ask you which library to use. You can create a new library at this stage or open a new one.

    2. If I named this new library as a library system photos will merge with the photos in the cloud?

Yes, but the photos will all be first download all photos in iCloud in the library of new, local Photos on your Mac. iCloud library aims to keep all the libraries of identical to the version in iCloud iCloud and update. Don't switch to another library in the library of the system, when your external drive is offline. each switch will result in massive downloads and uploads, for several days.  And download my not fit on your internal drive.

    3. when I go back and fix my MBP on my Drobo, the new photos will end up in the library of photos of Drobo if I designate as a system library again?

    4. I can then remove the library of 'travel' from my MBP without deleting anything my iCloud and Drobo.

I recommend to use the new library locally and wait until you get home and have access to your external drive.

Then, use PowerPhotos to merge your new photos in your photo library in the system.  It is a great tool to manage libraries of separate pictures.

You can download a free trial here: Fat Cat Software

Or use the web interface of your iCloud photo library.  You can download directly to your iCloud photo library without launching Photos on your Mac.  Go to www.icloud.com, launch the Photos.app on this web page, then download the new photos.  Then they will be downloaded into your library of Phtoos on Drobo when you connect your player and open your system from Photo library again.

  • My button "use as photo of system library" in photos is dimmed and I can't select.  Any idea on how to solve this problem?

I found that photos must be defined as "use as photo of system library" in order to be able to have the clickable area in FCPX to then import media from him.  However, when I go into the photos to do, this box is also grayed out.

Looks like the library is already defined as the library system.

You have problems using the photo media browser?

  • What happens when the photo of system library is on an external drive and then the system creates a library of Photos? How do merge you them?

What happens when the photo of system library is on an external drive and then the system creates a library of Photos? How do merge you them?

Your library system can be on an external drive, if the drive is Mac OS extended (journaled) format and mounted on-site.

But you must be careful, your external drive is always connected and available before the Photos and to import new photos.

If Photos opens a different library, news, you can switch to the library on your external drive by double clicking on an external library. You can have several libraries, no problem.

But pictures don't have any tools to merge libraries. You can switch between libraries, then open them alternately.  To merge two libraries export the photos of the smallest library and import the photos exported in the largest library.

Or use third-party "PowerPhotos" to move photos between libraries.  But the merger is not supported in the free trial version. You must purchase the full version. You can download it here: Fat Cat Software

  • Repair disk indicates: WARNING: SUID "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" file has been modified and will not be repaired.

My computer is slow, so I did a repair disk with disk utility. It shows the following message: WARNING: SUID "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" file has been modified and will not be repaired.

This is what significantt and what I need to do.

In addition, anyone recommend a good antivirus, malware application; or is the system Mac enough? Wharton could I do for optimization?

    1. it is normal. You need not do anything.

    2. unless you use Windows on the computer or often to share files with computers running Windows, it just Synchronize Mac OS X and use your common sense.

  • iCloud library is not available if the system library is located on a network file server

I moved my library on an external hard drive, that drive is directly connected to my router via the USB port.

I can make pictures to my library of photos and pictures of charge very well. I've set the library to serve the library system:

But, by selecting the option of using iCloud library gives me this error message "iCloud library is not available if the system library is located on a network file server.":

I have the ability to connect this external hard drive to an iMac which is used as a server, I just prefer not, but if it's the only option I want.

So in short, can I use this configuration? If so, why the error message and how to cope.

    Thanks in advance to all.

That's right - the library needs (for iCLoud, use of the library and for the safe operation) to be on a local wired connection - may not be on a network connection

  • ShowWindow enter an infinite loop when you try to open a subfolder of a file system shell extension

    Hi all,

I've implemented a file system shell extension. Everything works fine, but the next case: the user tries to open a subfolder of the extended file system (double clicking on its icon, for example), but an error is detected. When the ShowWindow is called to display the error message, the thread enters an infinite loop within the ShowWindow function.

It seems that the shell access mode when double click to open a subfolder which prohibits the display of new windows.

Have someone faced this situation? Can anyone give me a suggestion in order to investigate in the right direction?

    I thank very you much.

    Hello

I discovered the reason for the behavior represented: I created the message window as a child of the display window. At the opening of the subfolder view window becomes disabled, which also affect the child window. Definition of the parent to NULL window I solved the problem.

  • malicious program or a 10.9.5 OSX system library folder?

There is Adware on a 2009 27 "iMac still under OSX 10.9.5 (for the 3rd party compatibility for example Adobe CS6 software suite).

I followed the threads re. removal (thanks Linc Davis) and the problem does not come back.

To the date of departure of the Ad problems, there was a file in the Macintosh HD/library with a red dot (unopenable) 'uschiwakin', this folder is not present on the own iMac, is this a legitimate system file? Now held in the "basket", just in case.

I tried the TotalVirus site but it could not analyze the case, I also remove dit8.tgz in private/var/tmp /... After the reboot, etc. EtreCheck always gave an alert and I need to follow this.

Would appreciate any advice on 'unschiwarkin', because it doesn't show up on search engines. malware.

No, it's not legitimate system folder. It is probably part of the adware,

And do you mean, 'TotalVirus","VirusTotal "?

  • Could not import the files to/System/Library

I am trying to download files to the library of patch of Quartz, but the files copy to the folder. When I try to drag and drop the file appears with a grey symbol "cannot complete this action".

    Is this a permissions problem?

El Capitan running on an end of 2012 13 MBP retina.

    Is this a permissions problem?

Sort of. It's probably the integrity of system of Protection (SIP) preventing rogue of hacking of the system processes.

If you really think you need to change the system, disable SIP, make the changes, and then re - activate the SIP.

  • OEM 12 c - remove folder system library software full & manual

    Good afternoon

Had a problem with the file system on the filling OEM12c library the library itself is a NFS store on a second server. Noticed that an import a virtual machine model attempt failed because of a full file system in the software library. Of course, it's packed solid.

Navigated to the software Center, highlighted a few large models VM and deleted. When I checked the NFS file system associated with the software Center, it was always packed. Should not the mechanism of suppression in the software Center remove the data from the NFS file system? Or is it just to remove the entry from the database for the purpose of software library?

Is it possible to manually remove VM templates? I understand that I can go to the directory structure and launch rm - fR'ing data directories, but because of the file naming convention I'm having a time hard ID'ing what components are in the directories of 60 + in the software library.

    Any help would be appreciated.

When you delete an entity from the software library, it is marked as deleted, but not actually deleted. To remove it completely, you must purge the software library. The action menu on the administration page of software library should show this option.
