• Unable to restore the system, possible hard disk problems

  I started to have a white screen on startup and could not go beyond the apple logo. I ran the recommended repairs but could not manage to detect the operating system if the recovery console could see everything fine. The console suggested a repair disk I ran, but it seems to fail and goes to a blank gray screen.

  I pulled the drive and back up the contents of my PC and noticed them were three partitions showing in this regard. There was no problem of backup files as well so it seems that the drive is ok. After plugging it back in I tried internet recovery option and it only detects the HD recovery. I tried to erase disk02 but it does not work as well. I also use the restore option, but this also fails. I'm more used to the windows system restore and I'm not sure just what I might be missing.

  Enter the Recovery > disk utility. Select 1 TB HD Apple ST *, and then click Delete. Then click the Partition tab use arrow on the "Current" bar and select 1 Partition. Below you see a + sign or Options and will make this is the Table of Partition GUID. You will be he title Macintosh HD and Mac OS extended (journaled) and then click on apply. Now, you'll see Macintosh HD instead of the disk 0 sec 2. Select Macintosh HD, and then click Delete. Now, you erase Macintosh HD. It should be GUID Partition Table Mac OS extended (journaled). You should be able to put it in to your Mac you install El Capitan. Hope this helps you.

  The upgrade to win 8.1 were made without problem.

  2 system was created from scratch and win 8 has been installed using the ISO available. Now I want to upgrade the system 2 win 8.1 but I can't access the STORE. The shop window displays 15 items, but I can't open the STORE I tried the MSreset.exe, but it generates an error pop up. How to fix and upgrade of system 2 Win8.1

  (1) the laptop became irritating suddenly slow!
  Slow start of Windows, open files running of MS anti-virus, slow slow slow internet access, the desktop icons disappear and reappear at the beginning of every task, etc. a moment.
   
  (2) I have run a scan complete, just in case there's a virus.  It took ~ 2 hrs to scan ~ 1 240 000 elements.
  Also, I ran Disk Defragmenter in case space is the problem.

  I downloaded and installed the package, but have not yet run it!

   

  ( 3) the "CCleaner" seems well designed and comprehensive.

  It has many options for:

  .. .cleaning registry & Startup

  ... Deleting temporary Internet files & programs

  ... Bleach unused hard drive

  ... Removing obsolete software

  ... etc.

   

  ( 4) the difficulty (for me) is that you cannot select the option buttons at random without knowing or at least have an idea about the consequences.

  The problem could get worse!

   

  ( 5) for example, I've checked the box to deleteCookies or to theIndex.dat files (which I don't know what they are for, in the first place!).

  It will probably improve the performance of the system (speed), but could also block me of some web sites and would need re-subscribe, passwords, etc.

  Deleting Index.dat files can simply affecting the functionality of certain applications.

  I don't think that trial-and-error approach would work here.

   

  Will study more carefully "CCleaner".

  In the commercial category, uncheck the WindowsDefender. With this checked remove history when the last scan was performed.

  Cleaning DO NOT USE ANY Advanced options. DO NOT TOUCH THE REGISTRY OR TOOLS. At least not for now.

  Make sure that you go to Options > Advanced Options anduncheck the box ' only delete the files in of Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours "before running a scan.

  Suggests to save changes until you get to know and feel comfortable.

  Personally, CCleaner is the only program that I apply to any computer that I repair. I have never had any undesirable results to use this program. It is on the shy side of what it aims to achieve and is not very aggressive in its changes. It allows you also to save changes and reapply them if you have any of the disastrous consequences by allowing the changes.

  That being said - I can't say that the way I never realized no improvement after cleaning the registry!

• Details of allocation memory (cRIO vxWorks)

  A question about memory allocation when dealing with arrays, strings and string array.

  -I have to build and produce log files of the ASCII (LAS 2.0) on a cRIO.  The cRIO already done tons of other operations and avoiding excessive fragmentation of memory and overall memory usage is an important consideration for us, but CPU is also a limited resource... This new requirement is an addition to "everything" the cRIO already, and I know from experience that manages large data and logging as string files are taxing on the CPU, but also memory, so suggestions are welcome.

  Worst?) If I build the file whole by concatenation and set up the content of the file as one long string through one shift-register/ring to another, as it goes, more which I think is the worst possible way to do it from a management perspective of memory.

  (Better?) If I build the content of the file line by line and create an array of strings where each element of the array corresponds to a single line, it will be better? As each item is a variable length (String), I don't know how the memory manager manages these tables? Ideally, this is a list of pointers, so that each element (of variable length of the string) is its own segment (contiguous) memory vs all elements in the array in a single contiguous block? If so, that would mean that an array of strings would require nearby less memory than the same data represented as a 1 d of U8 array?

  An advantage I can think of the approach of the matrix (or line) is when it is time to write the data in the file, I could write each element of the array individually, once again, the idea is that there should be less overhead to manage the lines individually vs a giant stream on the disk memory?  I could then possibly construct/write of the file into blocks so that I'm never content of "whole file" in a row of table...

  Better yet? -Anyone have any ideas?

  As a mark of separation, unfortunately, all the data that will eventually be the file do not exist when the file is first created (trace-additional scans are added as soon as they are available throughout the day), and while the raw data itself in the LAS files are in the last section (so new raw data can be just added to the file of string without loading / parsing of the file) , there are some areas in the previous sections that may need to be updated (for example the tag STOP in the ~ section W), I was counting on the manipulation by a number of bytes for the fields that must be updated after the creation of follow-up, but if anyone has experience overview they can share on this subject as well , I am to listen to (in the case otherwise, I'll probably keep these counters in a list of attributes for quick recovery variant and simple because I maintain log files individual person well and therefore need a way a little more organized to follow that just a table or similar).

  Like that everyone would just learn to consume newspapers of PDM files we recommend that rather than insisting on all these other formats. :/

  (For a similar project (WITSML files), I ended up finding a relatively significant performance gain by building a large part of the ASCI file content as possible from the constant matrix U8, but luxury with this project was so much the structure/content of a static file that it was very, not to mention the WITSML requirement was for a scan/trace by file) , so it was create and forget.  It's been a HUGE calculate time and the difference in CPU usage.  Not sure this makes a real difference as far as its use/allocation of memory went other than constants of course being constant/charge with the VI and possibly optimizations the compiler as a constant U8 is potentially easier to work with than the strings (and string constants?).)

  I am logging the data locally on the disk with my different projects cRIO, because Yes, people just can not and will not use the TDMS files. What I do is I pre-allocate my paintings of strings - for example one the point current data to be logged out of the text file is an array of strings of 1 d, 1 item per channel, I have created by first creating an array of fixed size U8 (INIT 1 d array, say 16 bytes), conversion to string and then initialize my array of strings (INIT 1 d array again).

  I keep this saved allocated string of 1 d table change. When it comes time to write a new line to my account, I browse the table, using a loop FOR and Place the item Structure (not), new values in connects.

  I do everything with CVT or variables shared so I just read the tags by program and do a 'chain of fractional' on them. To write the string in the file I keep a last number of bytes and simply go to the file position and write.

  So far I didn't problems with leaks memory or fragmentation - you see the largest continuous block only decrease and then remain constant.  My systems typically run a week to a month between resets.

  It sounds like you are already planning to do this: work with arrays of pre-allocated chain. I'd say it's the way to go.

  Also, what version of Mac OS X turns?  You can select about this Mac from the Apple menu to get information about your system.

  You do not need an Apple Airport access point.  But your router's wireless settings a difference.  For example, the last iMac G5 model (from 2005) has only 802.11b and g wireless, not of 802.11n (unless you use a third-party add-on).  Make sure your wireless router is not set to 802.11n only.

  Like test, place the iMac that is close enough to your router so that you can connect using an Ethernet cable.  Do you have an Internet connection?  If so, select software update from the Apple menu to confirm that you are running the latest version of the system possible for your version of Mac OS X.  If there is an update, try the connection Wireless again after the update.

  When you buy your laptop it comes preinstalled with the operating system. If you paid for a copy with valid license. If you don't like it you should not use it. No one forcing you to do so. If you want to install the version of the OS, you must purchase a valid Microsoft DVD facilities and new license. You can't download free OS.

  By the way: you're wrong about the recovery image. There may be a lot of things you don't like or don't want to use, but you can remove the system and optimize the Vista preloaded. I do the same.

  Have a problem with connecting external display to my U300 - namely a TOSHIBA LCD TV

  I used a laptop computer from a different manufacture earlier and had no problem to connect my TV big screen as an external monitor with a resolution widescreen (1366 x 728), chipset - Intel 915

  Now that I've tried to do the same thing with the U300, I discovered that there is no such a resolution in the list. Only non-large available resolutions, including the monstrous 2500 something x 1500 something.

  I studied the case and discovered that removed intentionally Toshiba screen resolutions of the list of resolutions available using the video BIOS Table (VBT) in the BIOS. Download cooler version of the BIOS did not help. The U300 uses intel 965 chipset that certainly supports this resolution. The manual says that the use not recommended resolution likely to overheat the system, but I'm pretty darn sure that 2500 x 1500 uses a lot more resources.

  The only thing that has helped is Strip program but it is not only the best solution because it has some bugs and doesn't work at all stable time.

  The question: does anyone know why Toshiba do that? Why they exclude list screen resolutions? is this some sort of thing marketing or something?

  NB: for some models, they have released a new version of BIOS that solves this problem (some Tecra models) but not for Satellites...

  I don't know why, there may be a limitation with the graphics chip or something.

  Which is wrong with powerstrip? I used it successfully the results, it has been fairly stable. But I'm a little afraid to use it as this could damage the system, possibly void warranty of your laptop. So be careful what you change the settings.

  If you start this problem, it is not subtle.  It will stop what communication whether in the PXI chassis, including bluescreens or crashes the system (assuming that you use something in the chassis).  It occurs whenever there is a 64-bit address bus, but when that happens, you will have a hard time missing.

  I have a very large file PDM with about 3000 properties. After that I open the file, it will take about 2 sec to read a property with the PDM get properties VI.   Then, I'm afraid that there is no simple workaround solution unfortunately. If possible, you may want to consider splitting the TDMS file to some smaller TDMS files. We had similar bugs report, on the performance of the PDM get properties, especially when having a large number of properties PDM, we worked on possible optimization now.

• Impossible to change automatic update settings

  For some reason, (possibly malicious, but my computer is now clean) I can't change the settings of update automatic windows.  I can open the page in the Control Panel, but the options are gray translucent and cannot be clicked.  There is a note at the top that "some settings are managed by your system administrator.  I am the administrator.  There is no reason that I would not be able to change these settings.  I currently put to tell me if there are updates so I decide to update, so it isn't a huge problem for not being able to change, but I would like to auto update of important updates.

  Hi I have in fact already MBAM and Spybot installed for general prevention, and both scans lift you own. I also have a separate account a couple of weeks to limit damage in case of infection in the future... but also in the hope, it would solve the problem. Even when I go into control panel for this account, it still prevents me from making changes. I actually posted a hijack this log on spywarehammer.com some time ago, but when I don't have an e-mail saying that he had been a response to my son, I guess no one responded. It only occurred to me to go back and check after I posted this, it turns out, I didn't just have this updated profile to me send me an email (I guess that's the default) I thought since all scans, I ran (both above and a few others on demand scanners) were clean, that the problem was in the operating system possibly left by a previous infection, I had cleaned and that I needed to talk to someone at microsoft who know how to reset it, or fix the problem, that's why the post here. I posted this response in the thread about spywarehammer, but an administrator he suggests to do some other tests anyway, which I'm currently in. I know that the forum, is virtually useful for malware, and I guess that this forum is no longer for specialized knowledge of windows and its parameters. For now, I want to finish to a good clean out of my system with the help of someone. But, given that I don't know if this problem with automatic updates is actually related to malicious software that is currently on my system, I'm not sure that the cleaning, he would give me a result, then, I know not how. It would be better to close this thread (I can post later if I still have a problem after that my system is completely clean) or to leave it open in case this happens?
