System preferences icon has replaced the dock
Hi all
I have a strange behavior with the dock in macOS Sierra, especially with the "System Preferences" icon After you open the system preferences application, the icon was his suddenly replaced by another icon (see image below). It looks like a Doc App icon?
I tried to remove the 'System Preferences' app to the dock and put new in. It's OK for a while, but something after a few hours or days, the icon has been replaced by the "Doc App" icon again? !!
Is there anyone who has this strange behavior?
Thank you
Torp

You can access all the options of recovery like this:
- Click the Power Options icon, and then hold down the SHIFT key while you click the Restart option. Keep now shift until the screen shows it restarts.
- On the first screen that appears, select troubleshooting, and then select Advanced Options. Finally, choose the boot settings and click Restart.
- On the next screen, you will see things like Safe Mode and service options which would be "last well known."

'iPhone Messages' icon appearing in the Dock
I experienced this with Yosemite as well. Don't remember what level it is resolved, but things were fine until I upgraded to El Capitan. The 'Message' icon won't stop appearing on the left side of the bar on my Dock. I did the following on the advice found in searches:
-Open iMessage and disabled my account (this is what all our mobile devices are connected using)
-Open system preferences... Notifications, click on "Messages" on the left pane, select 'None' and unchecked all boxes to 5 check
-restarted
Inevitably, as soon as a member of the family gets a text, the "Messages of the iPhone" sticker reappears. It's ridiculous, and it's maddening.
I hope someone has a solution...
Thank you

Hmm, this is interesting because it is usually an enabled icon who lives not in the Dock will appear on the right side (before the divvider).
And you clicked the control icon > remove the dock and he comes back?

What has replaced the vpn concentrator?
Greenhorn here, I was not to sit in this place. We have three remote sites, sister of institutions, we share an app with. Host us the app. A site has a configuration of vpn concentrator, the other two use a leased from point to point line. They each have a router that connects to a single router. They want to replace the lines leased by using a vpn. Do the digging, I see that the hubs are EOL.
So, what is used to replace the hub today? What is a solution today from leased lines? They are all poor profit. My guess is that they will say look on Ebay for a hub if the solution is too expensive.
Thanks Jim
Jim
The package of security (CISCO2901-SEC/K9 or CISCO2921-SEC/K9) is the convenient way to get the combination of the router, the software and licenses you will need. I don't think that you need something more elaborate than one of these security packages.
I think one of these would be a good choice for you. It's been a while since I looked at the details of these routers. My recollection is that the 2921 offers more power, more interfaces and a few other benefits and would be attractive to many of us. But I think I understand your needs, I believe that the 2901 router cheaper and quite adequate for you.

wireless system tray icon disappears when the wired connection is present
When I plug in ethernet, the wireless icon disappears in the system tray. Sometimes I connect to a Wi - Fi, and at the same time.
Is there a way to make it stay put?
Hello
It is not possible to show the two notification icons when you connect to a Wi - Fi network and at the same time in the system tray.
When you connect to a wired connection, it will display the wired connection icon and if you connect to the internet wireless, it will display an icon of wireless connection. Both will appear in the same time.
However if you have connected both cables and wireless Internet, it will show you one of the two icons based on the priority that you have set.
We can change the priority of the network connections and make them follow an order of desired connection. You can make Windows 8 use wired connection instead of wireless. When you start your laptop, if there is a wireless connection, your Windows laptop will connect to the Wi - Fi connection. Even if you connect to a wired connection, usage will continue to be the Wi - Fi connection. This is because, when more than one network connection is available, Windows uses the one with the lowest metric value.
To change the priority of network connection, follow the steps.
a. press the Windows key + C.
b. Select Search and then type network connections.
c. now, click the ALT key to open the convening of Menu bar. Click on advanced settings. This will open the properties box.
d. under the tab cards and links, you will see the list of connection and Windows services related to the order in which they are consulted by network connections and others. The default value is Wi - Fi, Ethernet, and then remote access. The network connections service manages objects in the network and remote access connections folder, in which you can view the local area network and remote connections. Using up and down arrows, you can change their order and set it according to your priorities. When you change the setting as shown above and make Ethernet as first choice, your laptop will use the wired connection first by choice.
e. click OK and the output.
Your Windows PC will now follow this order of priority when the detection of the available network connections.
Hope this information is useful.

Upgrade to El Capitan has replaced the boot on Configuration partition dual boot
I've been using find for a dual-boot my Macbook Pro with OSX and Ubuntu. Today, I decided to upgrade my OSX Yosemite to El Capitan.
After downloading all the 6G, which took about six hours, and the installation program, I received a prompt to restart my computer. After that, and waiting more than 10 minutes staring at a blank screen, I pressed the power button, but nothing happened. After doing this several times and get in trouble in the meantime, I pressed and held. To my surprise the blank screen is having a background slightly shine completely black color. Then, I realized that the computer was actually still on, and I interrupted probably something I shouldn't.
Then I turned on my computer, and instead of being presented to the screen where I choose which operating system to load, I got OSX loading screen with the Apple logo and progress bar. After some time, the OSX installer appeared and told me that it would take 19 minutes to install OSX. However, after a minute and a half, the installer left with the message:
OS X could not be installed on your computer
A partition of start-up assistance is required when working with the storage of carrots.
Exit Setup to restart your computer and try again.
Product restarts the same result, as described above.
Using the disk utility program, I see that I still have my Ubuntu partition, although not like OS X doesn't shows being available and has no information about it other than its size.
As a customer, I am pretty upset by this situation.
Why don't/that the installer should overwrite the MBR? It's totally useless! Why the installation program could not upgrade the OS that he treated and leave the rest alone computer? If someone at Apple has not considered the possibility that some of their users will want to double to start their systems?
Why are there not warnings or other information displayed during the preparation phase indicating that this would happen? Why me staring at a screen empty while something, probably important, took place in the background and leading me to believe that my computer had hung up? Surely a window could have been displayed saying something like "do not turn off your computer.
Now that I have my setup porked, I need to recover from an old backup, get kind of rEFInd running again, back up my Ubuntu installation and probably delete the partition. Then try to upgrade to El Capitan again after the download of an another 6G. Once El Capitan is at work, I'll have to recreate the EXT4 partition and restore Ubuntu top and install rEFInd. This seems to be an arrangement rather STUPID having to cross in 2016.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so, advice on how to get all this done effectively?
New user account is not happy!
Well, it seems that the recovery of my Time Machine backup is not so simple...
In the setup of OS X, utilities disk is available, so I ran it.
I've selected the partition where OS X is installed and choose the editing command-> restore from the menu, and then set the "restore from:' location to my partition backup (located on an external USB drive) and press
." This produces a message saying "restore process has failed. Press OK to continue. (Continue where?)

Windows XP Professional

the original instructions have been written by Shenan StanleyPosts: n/aRe: Main administrator account appearing notIf you can connect with the new account that you created (which should be an administrator account as well) then go directly to step 2 below.I suppose that you use the administrator account as your main account (bad
idea anyway) and that means that you probably have Windows XP Professional * and *.
somehow enabled the guest account or create a new account - or
installed some patches that created a new account - as .NET.I guess also that (since you say "appear") you also use the 'Welcome' screen
opening of session instead of the classic logon.(1) restart the system. Press CTRL + ALT + DELETE twice on home

and do not put in any password and logon. Work?(2) or follow the instructions below to add the administrator account of

Decided to try to use the bookmark option in sync of 4 FF. I had been using the other options of synchronization without problem. My goal was to get to my work PC bookmarks in sync with my PC at home. I turned sync bookmark on my work PC, when I Rose House and restart my computer, before realizing what had happened to FF had crushed my favorites on my home PC with bookmarks of my work PC. I have now lost ALL my favorites on my home PC. How can I get these?
I didn't have time to try to save my favorites from my PC at home, apparently when you set the only instance of synchronization to use the bookmark that they all are set to sync. I thought I'd have a chance to save bookmarks from my PC at home before I activated on this computer to synchronize bookmarks.
Firefox automatically saves backups of your Favorites, you must restore a backup of the day before that happened. See this support article.
