System Restore has a flaw

System Restore does not work properly, he repeats to me he hs found an undisclosed flaw.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hello

This can help you:

1. If you are using Norton, you should disable Norton inviolable Protection before using the system restore.

http://Service1.Symantec.com/support/sharedtech.nsf/pfdocs/2005113009323013

2. try to use Safe Mode system restore.

http://bertk.MVPs.org/html/restoresysv.html

3 Malware will stop at the system restore.

Download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware, if necessary in Mode safe mode with networking:

http://www.Malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free

And here's how to go in Safe Mode options; Select safe mode with networking from the list of options:

  • Why my system restore has stoped working and 1 problem more too!

Hello, I hope that some people may help me with my 32-bit vista, 2 cpu to 1.9 Ghz Intel, gateway comp. GM5420, G965 express processor and directx 11 or 10 and I run Avast Anti-virus.  My SR = system restore has worked for many years and now the past 3-4 months whenever I need it, it starts as usual, but at the end it says error could not change your system. No file or folder have been changed.  The only thing I can think is around the same time, 3 to 4 months ago, I found and started using some utilities to clean up my computer.  I have 4 different services who clean things different from vitsa. I wonder if 1 of deleted then a file that I need to use SR?  And if not how can I repair my vista then SR woeks again? Thank you

And another problem that earlier, I started to have my yahoo email will not load a web page, so that I can ck my emails or use any other link on messenger to open a web page of yahoo. He worked as my messenger hotmail from microsoft that works very well. I uninstalled yahoo messenger and reinstalled several times but each time that nothing works. I can sign but can't click on anything. A s error message opens and says can not find the web yahoo page you are looking for. I really need my email yahoo to work right as my hotmail works very well.  I wonder if its my IE9 that something has changed there and now yahoo of just work, I don't know just a guess. Its driving me crazy why these two problems came earlier when I've never had a problem with either an ever sice I had this beautiful Vista computer.  Please tell what to do easy to understand the answer I can do what you think I should do to solve the two problems? Ok.  Thanks for any help. Ok

There is no file to download from Microsoft; I'm sorry.

Certainly sounds like the registry cleaner has done by the removal of 10% of the files.

If SFC does not help, you will need to follow the rest of the information available to me somehow. (ask about DVD).

Or save your data and reinstall Vista.

You don't say what brand of computer for Recovery Options and you say that you do not have a Vista DVD; but a recovery disk came with him...

  • System Restore has been removed and bookmarks and bookmark backups

Hi, my father-in-law has tried to install a speaker sound systems on his PC and needed to return to a previous configuration using the system restore. He has done this, but lost all its bookmarks firefox during the process.

I don't know if it is to install the necessary drivers Sonos or restoration that did it, but his last backup of bookmarks is yesterday. He also seems to have lost his browsing history (and I guess, all of its cookies too).

Is there another way to get back them?

    Thanks in advance...

Just an update: the driver to install and/or the system restore had Firefox set up a new profile. I was able to restore the bookmarks from the old profile via RDP remote (really desperate Phonecall)

  • System Restore has removed my personal files

Today 26/12/09 and I added a new folder and photos on a secondary hard drive (D :) on my PC and put one of the images as my desktop background.) I then changed the date of my computer to 03/11/08 and then noticed that I had to do a system restore to an earlier version (12/23/09) day of this year. Once the computer has been restarted, my PC has been arrived in 2008, which erased all my points 2009 recent restoration. I also noticed that folder and photos originally placed on additional hard drive completely disappeared (I tried to search for all the ways I could - I remember one of the images had the words 'eyes' in the title). However, the picture that I put my wallpaper is always displayed. When I look at the display properties, it does not show what the name of the file is good... He pointed out just a different picture. This leads I think that the record and the photos may still be on my computer, but I don't know if they are hidden or something? Is there a way to search where the desktop display properties is actually the link to the file currently displayed as my wallpaper (photos of 'eyes')?

Oh, and I changed the date of my computer in 2009.

the same thing happened to me, I downloaded a free recovery program, the files back and tried to copy on my desktop, a window then asked if I wanted to replace the same files in the folder, which meant that they were hidden just for windows 7 If you go to your computer, click the button hold, then options records and research near the bottom it says 'show all files' with a checkbox, click on it then click on where you have the files/folders and they will be a little transparent, make a right click on the file/folder and select Properties, downstairs there two checkboxes, one with "read-only" and the other with 'hidden' uncheck both and click on apply ". , a window is displayed, select 'apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files' press OK and click OK, then the same thing to another until you have your files back

I restored my system to today to get some photos, but the file did not appear - how recover them - I didn't do a back-up

    Hello

"I restored the system to today."

What do you mean by that?

You use the system restore to put the settings of the computer to an earlier Date, doesn't not to hand over to today.

System restore only "puts away" remove photos.

It has nothing to do with the data files.

And if you mean the system recovery to factory (like new) settings, which erases the hard drive clean of everything.

Regardless of how you spent, try this free program to recover:

    Hi Milanko,

What version of Windows is installed on the computer?

I suggest you to follow the steps and check if it helps.

Method 1: Scan your computer with Microsoft Safety scanner for viruses and check if that helps.
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Method 2: Run check file system (CFS) analyses and checks to see if it helps.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Note: SFC system gives an administrator the ability to scan the files all protected to check their versions. If the System File Checker detects that a protected file has been replaced, it retrieves the correct version of the file in the folder cache (% Systemroot%\System32\Dllcache) or the Windows installation source files and then replaces the incorrect file. System File Checker verifies and repopulates the cache folder also. You must be logged in as an administrator or as a member of the Administrators group to run the System File Checker. If the cache folder is damaged or unusable, you can use the sfc/scannow, sfc /scanonce or commands sfc /scanboot to repair its contents.

Method 3: Using the Group Policy Editor

If your edition of Windows Vista includes the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) snap-in, follow these steps:
    a. Click Start, type gpedit.msc and press ENTER
    b. go to the following branch:
    c. the Computer Configuration | Administrative templates | System | System restore
    d. double click on disable the Configuration and set it to not configured.
Note: If the above setting is already set to not configured, set it to "Enabled" and click on apply. Return back the setting to not configured, then click on apply, OK.
    e. Quit Group Policy Editor.

Method 4; Follow the steps in the link and if the problem is solved with your printer.

It sounds as if your PC has been hacked - bad! (Alternatively, according to the)
How you look at these things).
You almost certainly have a significant infestation of malicious software, which, even if
cleaned up, could still accommodate unsuspected backdoors.

My recommendation would be to backup your data on an external drive, and
which is verified by a decent anti-virus, reformat and reinstall
the operating system on your system.

  • System Restore has been disabled by your system administrator

    Problem of administrater

Hello all, I thought that my problem was a simple one but not so much. I am logged on as administrator Windows 7 Ultimate, I went to restore my system files and is turned off by mistake, while I thought was not a problem, I knew not that it deletes the system restore all files, so here I am again to make it back on and guess what, it is said that the administrator should be informed that they are off their After trying several ways to achieve this, I resorted to no protection on my UAC, it has not helped, tried a new UAC which did not help either, so now I'm on my hands and knees hoping someone out there can help, after such a simple mistake that I was allowed to do because I was Admin , I went to not even be able to system restore back on without contact my administrator! Is any way around this, there must surely be, any help would be greatly apreciated.

    Steve.

    Hi Steve,.

Step 1: Use the Group Policy Editor

    a. Click Start, type gpedit.msc and press ENTER

    b. go to the following branch: Computer Configuration | Administrative templates | System | System restore

    c. double click on disable the Configuration and set it to not configured.

Note: If the above setting is already set to not configured, set it to "Enabled" and click on apply. Return back the setting to not configured, then click on apply, OK.

    d. Quit Group Policy Editor.

If using the Group Policy Editor do not fix the problem, try the registry fix from the following.

Step 2: Using the registry editor

Important: The below mentioned method contains steps that tell you how to change the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-Software-policies-Microsoft-Windows NT------SystemRestore

    (c) in the right pane, delete the value named DisableConfig

    d. Quit Registry Editor.

    e. restart the computer and check

  • Satellite Pro A300-1 system restore has 8 Vista works not

I wanted to use the system restore because of the attempt to reconfigure the administrator rights, its somehow deleted all my shortcuts on my menu and messed with a few things.

However, when I try to use the system restore (I tried to use it in safemode, via cmd promp, bunch together and normal), but all seem to keep hanging in the same green page where you can read something in the sense of "system is initializing restore etc" (spend 45 minutes on this page until I get fed up and shut down the computer). I tried to use different restore points the same thing happens. He loves his work not at all.

Can anyone help with this please?

My laptop is a Satellite Pro A300-1 to 8.

    Hello

You mean the Vista tool, which is located in (Start button-> all programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore) does not work and you cannot set back the Vista until the early time?

Well, usually there's not much to do to restore the operating system to start time the point you have to play the System Restore tool and choose the restore point. Then everything should run automatically.
If this doesn t work while something is messed up as you said in your ad above somehow deleted all your shortcuts in my menu and messed with a few things possibly operating system was messed in.

Try to clean the operating system by using the freeware CCLeaner for example. I also use it. It s great. Repair and clean the operating system and check if it is possible to use the system again restore tool.
