System Restore is no longer available.

When I go to 'Start' / restoration of the system, the dialog box displays "System Restore's protection is no longer your computer." Restart and try again. "I made several and restarted, with always the same result. How can I activate SR again?

TIA

It was the only thing I have in my notes on the service of SR and that error and I recreate once more here to be sure my notes makes sense.  I have this same error for other Services and therefore usually a missing file, usually easy to fix

Do you know if SR worked properly since Avast has been installed?

Given that your SR Service is broken, and if this is the only problem that you know, you could:

1 export section Service of SR from your registry and send it here for analysis

2. I can export the component services RT of my registry and send it to be installed on your system.   I have instructions for this (the SR Service is not very exciting to watch)

3. you can completely reinstall the system restore (you don't have to reinstall XP - only the part of SR)
a. I have instructions for this and you do not need an XP installation CD
b. If you reinstall SR, you will lose all your current Restore Points
(c) if the RSF does not work in any case, who cares about number b

Even if Avast is pretty good, I wish that you would do this while you think about it:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs at:
Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

  • System Restore Windows 8 has been restoring for almost 2 hours. How long should it take?

New windows machine 8. Installed AVG anti-virus requiring a reboot. It wouldn't restart. Kept giving me the dpc_watchdog... error. (more & on & above) So I chose to do a system restore to last Friday. I saw him start & I left the room for a while.  He has been restoring for almost 2 hours now. I noticed the "finalizing" file restore less than an hour ago. Is this normal? I have to do something else?

    Hi Marcia,

I understand that the system restore takes a long time to restore your computer.

System restore usually takes 15 to 30 minutes depending on the size of the data has changed since the date of the restoration up to the date where the restoration is underway.
If the computer is blocked, do a hard reset. Press the power button for about 10 seconds. Once the computer shuts down, stop and try again and follow the steps.

Follow the steps mentioned below and perform a restore of the system from the Windows recovery environment. Check if it helps.

    (a) Insert the disc to install 8 Windows; Click on repair your system.
    (b) click the Advanced Boot Options.
    (c) click Start Windows settings.
    (d) If you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.
((e) (f) If you are using the Windows installation disc, click on system restore.
    (f) click about to restore during which the system worked very well.
    (g) click on apply, click OK.

Hope this helps and let us know if you need more assistance. We will be happy to help.

  • (Windows 8) System Restore how can I?

    Guys,

I was see several issues since windows 8A are released on the no sound, Apps, and other small problems with the operating system and laptop.

System Restore is a software available in all versions of Windows 8. System Restore automatically creates points of restoration, a memory of the system files and settings on the computer to a point in time. You can also create a restore point. Then, when you use the system restore to restore your computer to a point in time before the beginning of the program, the System Restore returns your computer for files and settings of the restore point. Your personal files and documents are not affected.

Most of these features worked fine until an installation (Windows), or just randomly stopped working.

As a general rule, when a features quit working all of a sudden the system restore will bring the laptop at a time where the features on the laptop was working.

When you do this step, you must be sure to save any information or downloads you recently installed on a flash drive or any type of removable media.

System Restore is a great feature that HP and other manufactured goods have to give you the possibility of not losing the functionality at any time while having the laptop.

First of all, here is the document that will help guide you in this step.

While taking these steps, I must warn to re-register you please any information you have recently saved or downloaded.

  • System Restore suspended VPS 64 bit

"Please wait while your windows files and settings are being restored"

    Running system restore

How long should I wait before doing anything and can I turned off the pc in this stadium?

You have to wait until she finishes (it will give you a message) and you certainly can not turn off the machine while he made the restoration or it may not only not work, it may cause even more problems you had when you decided to use the system restore in the first place.  It shouldn't take more than an hour or more depending on the back where you went and what changes are needed.  Be patient.  If it has not finished after 3 hours, then it is frozen and you will need to power down (even if you use the power button to do so).  Then restart and try the system restore using an earlier date.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • my computer will do is no longer a system restore

    Original title: System Restore

my computer will do is no longer a system restore. I use windows XP.

Well, it is good that you got SR works again.  When you reinstall, SR deletes all old PHI so things work as expected.

If SR was quite broken you need to reinstall, it was really broken and sometimes malware will do things like that to make you believe that you need to use a Restore Point, perform a repair installation, or drop and completely reinstall your XP if you really never.

Once you get an infection, it is sometimes a good idea just to hit all the old restore in any case Points in case the infection got inside of them, then make a new brand that you know is clean.

If you have an infection, it seems that CA to disappoint you, but no anti software does seem to know about everything, it is so good to have more than one.

The free MBAM and SAS are scanners of respectable, good, without real time (right now).  SAS can find a whole lot of tracking cookies, but I would still use it.

When MBAM and SAS to run clean, it would be the time to look at your other questions.  Sometimes, there are some small remains of infection that must be deleted manually.

Try to explain that the something to work with errors at the time of saying exactly, and also when you see them (what you do when you see them) and then decide what to do next.  Sometimes they say things like cannot run. Cannot be found, cannot open, error loading, etc.

Do the best you can to relay messages you see.

When things are all cleaned up, you should test your SR and make sure that it really works (or fix).

Do, or do not. There is no test.

  • After having recently updated windows, some programs no longer work. In addition, System Restore does not work.

After having recently updated windows, some programs no longer work.  Also, when I went to do a system restore, that he would not allow me to restore to an earlier date.  Among the programs that no longer work are VLC Media player, ieploxer, f.lux.  Even though I have uninstalled and reinstalled they would not load correctly.  I would get the splash screen for the program, but noting else.  When I am gone in Windows Task Manager the program would not appear in Applications, but there are processes running.  And an interesting thing, the exe afficheraient use of the 72K memory.  Still, even for different programs.

    What can I do?

Start the command prompt, and then type

    sfc/scannow

  • System Restore no longer works

I recently had problems with my computer when a "friend" told me that he could easily connect our two computers to establish a local home network. When he had finished, not only do we not have a local network, but my computer would no longer connect to the Internet. I tried to do a system restore, who had worked on several occasions without a problem. However, after going through what seemed like the normal process, at the end, he told me that the restoration of the system had not, and none of my files had been changed. He suggested that I have try again, with a different restore point. I did this several times to get the same result. Can you please help?

Some security programs prevent changes to their file and must be configured to allow the restoration of the system work.  For example, if your computer has Norton Antivirus or Norton Internet Security, you must disable Norton product Tamper Protection before you run the system restore. • How to remove the graphics drivers nVidia Windows system - scan driver is no longer available.

There was an old post and now it seems closed. I update my DV6500Z again to Windows 7. It worked fine for months and then I lost sound, so I decided to start over. Did a clean install with Windows 7, then service Pack1 followed by a lot of updates from Windows update. Also added a lot of software. Now, I sound and have not yet added the optional updates from Windows update to the sound card drivers. I haven't added the other drivers so what comes from Service Pack 1, Windows 7, and important updates.

Probably should have started the search in just after Service Pack 1, but no drivers have not because I had no problem. A few things are of yellow color in the Device Manager but it should for things like quick launch buttons, SD card reader. So now I'm looking in drivers and ran through http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-systems-and/How-to-remove-nVidia-graphic-drivers-fro...

I uninstalled NVIDIA drivers very well using Control Panel - program & features. Now, I found scan driver is no longer available. Device Manager indicates that I will use a standard vga adapter. Should I just go ahead and add the nvidia chip and then get the nvidia drivers or do I let more fragments, which will cause problems?

    Thank you
