my computer will do is no longer a system restore

Original title: System Restore

my computer will do is no longer a system restore. I use windows XP.

Well, it is good that you got SR works again.  When you reinstall, SR deletes all old PHI so things work as expected.

If SR was quite broken you need to reinstall, it was really broken and sometimes malware will do things like that to make you believe that you need to use a Restore Point, perform a repair installation, or drop and completely reinstall your XP if you really never.

Once you get an infection, it is sometimes a good idea just to hit all the old restore in any case Points in case the infection got inside of them, then make a new brand that you know is clean.

If you have an infection, it seems that CA to disappoint you, but no anti software does seem to know about everything, it is so good to have more than one.

The free MBAM and SAS are scanners of respectable, good, without real time (right now).  SAS can find a whole lot of tracking cookies, but I would still use it.

When MBAM and SAS to run clean, it would be the time to look at your other questions.  Sometimes, there are some small remains of infection that must be deleted manually.

Try to explain that the something to work with errors at the time of saying exactly, and also when you see them (what you do when you see them) and then decide what to do next.  Sometimes they say things like cannot run. Cannot be found, cannot open, error loading, etc.

Do the best you can to relay messages you see.

When things are all cleaned up, you should test your SR and make sure that it really works (or fix).

Do, or do not. There is no test.

I need YOUR voice and the points for helpful answers and propose responses. I'm saving for a pony!

When I went to my computer on Thursday, he had installed updates and turns off. When I tried to turn on everything I have has the windows logo and it stuck there for centuries. I turned off then when I turned on it again chose option to repair. She didn't so I restored to before last update (17th? (June). Still would not work so successful to restore to June 7, and it worked.

The next day, the same thing happens again. Searched on the internet and discovered had to change the settings so that I have to choose updates to install.

Because I could not use my pc decided to use the laptop - lo & here's exactly the same thing happened with it.

Now, today, I see that in the menu start, there the! to say that it will install updates if I turn it off.

How will I know which update caused the problem without going through one by one? Anyone had this happen?

If you use Ctrl F11, which calls for the restore by Symantec PC Dell and who could restore your system to the as shipped on the status of the plant and you would lose all your personal files:

NOTICE: Using Dell PC Restore permanently deletes all data on the hard drive and removes applications or drivers installed after you received your computer. If possible, back up the data before using PC Restore. Use PC Restore only if system restore did resolve your operating system problem.

A Windows XP System Restore does not know or care about your personal files and allegedly, leave them intact.

I suggest to start the computer in safe mode and check if you can start:

If you are not able to start the computer in safe mode, then do restore from the system recovery options and check if that helps:

    It will be useful.

Start in safe mode did not help.  The computer wnt in a mode of repair without end, without any results.  I finally got a memory diagnostic option (F8 or F12 - can't remember which - of the splash screen) and ran it for the hell of it.   Somehow, when it is finished, the computer started upward.  I did a system restore and I thought that was OK.  Then I met several different errors and finally gave up. All the problems started with me trying to upgrade to Vista Service Pack 2.  The installation failed (twice).

I've upgraded to Windows 7 (from Vista) and am happy so far.

Thanks for the help.  Good to know he's experts there.

  • System Restore will not restore the selected date, even if the date is in bold in the home

It just says: cannot restore the selected date

Usually, this is caused by your anti-virus program is interfering with the system restore.  Norton is especially guilty of this behavior.  Try restarting your computer in Mode without fail (repeatedly tap key the F8 key during the restart of the computer), and then perform your safe mode system restore.  When it restarts after you perform the restore, allow him to start in normal mode.

  • "The scan of the computer is enabled is no longer" false error

    Hello

I bought and installed a HP DeskJet 3521. It is configured for wifi connectivity to two computers on our home network. A laptop computer is 8 64-bit Windows. The other is Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

The printer seems to work perfectly. However, the driver regularly (as in all the several minutes or so) pops up a message saying "the Scan of the computer is enabled is no longer" or something like that. It is apparent from the system tray. It fades after a few seconds. Otherwise the printer seems to work very well. This happens on two laptops.

Laptops are in the same room as the printer and the router. The signal strength is high.

Why did this message occurring and is there a solution for this?

    Thank you

It is very probably the same problem I had with the HP printers for years.  It happens when the printer goes into a power saving sleep state and falls of connectivity.  To resolve the issue, you have to walk on the printer and the power of the cycle.  It has NOTHING to do with your router or static/dynamic IP allocation.  It's the fault of crappy entiely firmware and HP software.  HP 'experts' are playing the same game of blame-the-other-manufacturer or blame the old user that HP has always played.

My current HP printer is the third HP sub-standard product I've owned... on three (Yes, I know, shame on me twice).  I've owned a high-end, expensive laptop which overheated during playback of a video to youtube and two printers which disengages automatically when they entered in the mode 'sleep'.  It will be the last HP product I already own...
