System update / installation in a freshly restored z60t 2511-EJG software

Hello, is Ottorino.

I ' ts good to know that such a forum exists.

I hope to find the answer to a problem that I can't solve.

I worked with my z60, running Debian Lenny and I almost forgot to winXP,

with the exception of some applications that I really need (mostly Nokia PC suite). (The dual boot still worked very well).

A couple of last week, I started XP, for my mobile phone backup and thinkvantage asked me for updates. I let the system to download a lot of patches and updates, but on reboot I got a lot of problems.

I never managed to return to the status of previuos (working!).

I have all my copies of backup (partimage), but nevertheless, I decided to buy the recovery CD set and start from scratch the whole thing.

Therefore, I made the offline restore procedure to return the computer to factory conditions.

Then I removed all of the things that I have no need (symantec, diskeeper lite, games, Messenger).

After the reboot, I installed my antivirus and also launched a thinkvantage system update.

After awhile, the thinkvantage system update responded a bit like 'nothing to upgrade' or more.

I noticed that in Explorer (6.0), there was an icon thinkvantage (Installer): when you press it, a update/upgrade process began, but ultimately failed.

I then googled around and I realized that the Installer software is no longer supported.

While searching on Google, I let XP to download and install Service Pack 3.

After a reboot, update system started by itself, tried to connect and download something (732,52 KB), it keep on downloading up to 42% and once again ended by saying "the sistem need not update/update" or similar.

Then I tried to install a new version of system update (3.14), but before I installed the NET.framework 2.0 such as requested by lenovo, but without any improvement.

Update system connects, start downloading and eventually stop on 42%.

I would like to see as the stuff of thinkvantage functioning again, before installing debian.

Any suggestion to create works of thinkvantage?

Thank you very much

Hi eheikell,

Yes all that happened in the weekend.

I really need the laptop this week, that's why I was in a hurry.

Thanks for the information.

I'll check the site in the coming weeks.

Just for the records...

I installed Ubuntu Intrepid ibex, yetesterday and installation was really child's play.

Only a few adjustments to install the finger drive.

If I think that thinkvantage has been designed to help users to...

  • System Update Readiness Tool Vista installation error - error: "the parameter is incorrect."

I have a virtual machine running Vista. I need to update with the SP1 and SP2 for Vista and the VS SP1.

I have downloaded and saved the 3, but when I tried to install SP1 for Vista I got an error that says I need to run the Vista system update tool. I downloaded the analysis tool, but when I tried to install it on the virtual machine is a mistake here:

    "The parameter is incorrect."

    There was no error number.

    What should I do now?

    Hi MeProgrammer,

Temporarily disable the antivirus software on the computer as a test and try to install the update and check if this is useful to fix the problem.

If disabling the antivirus software works, then you need to configure the same so that it does not disturb. Please contact the software vendor for assistance in this regard.

    Warning

Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Additionally, make sure that you download and install the correct version (32-bit or 64-bit) system from the link below for Windows Vista Update Readiness Tool:

In all other ways my XP system is up-to-date, with the exception of SP3. I never needed before. SP1 and SP2 have been installed at the time when they were new. Now SP3 is required to upgrade to some new programs. Installation of the SP3 at this late date crush the latest system updates or interfere with programs like IE 8? I don't want that my system is back to older parameters which are now outdated. If the system settings are changed, how do I know those who?

For some reason, there is no system restore point to go back to a system update before, and I am not allowed to create a system for yesterday restore point, so, how do I fix these errors?  Obviously these defects are not affecting performance, but given that I'm a bit OCD, they cause some irritation. : O

Had the same problem and the same error message after that 5.01.0005 system update stopped working and would not install after being uninstalled.

I looked at the Setup log and there was an error on the failure of the installation service. Then I looked at Windows Services and there was a service of installed system update, pointing to a non-existent folder under Program Files (x 86). I removed the service manually (sc delete SUService since the administration command prompt) and after this update installed fine system.

  • T440s lost Bluetooth after having installed the latest updated via the Lenovo system update

Hi everyone, my setup - Windows 8.1, Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 7260 with Bluetooth built-in.

After the installation of the last packet of Intel's Bluetooth (via the Lenovo system update), I lost Bluetooth constantly.

-J' I tried to uninstall the update of the driver, nothing has changed.

-J' tried to restore through Windows Restore Point (I did a fresh restore point before you install these updates,) without success...

    I noticed that:

-When this happened, the fingerprint reader to are featured strange - there is no if light (with green light) initially, Windows, and Windows was asking me a password instead of the fingerprint.

-In the Device Manager. Bluetooth category disappeared (I was there before the upgrade - for sure.). but I saw a new unrecognized device whose name ends with something like "(de l'énumération n'a pas pu) '-this could probably be the Bluetooth card."

-L' tray for Bluetooth icon disappeared.

-The Bluetooth system option submenu and its devices in the Windows settings disappeared (and it was here before).

-Looking for Bluetooth in Windows 8.1 returned property (with Win + W hotkey) framework "set up Bluetooth devices" or similar, but when I clicked it, it couldn't access this option - just took me to the main configuration screen.

I had to do a restore of the system using Linux (thankfully made a full HD image backup of the HDD and SSD using Clonezilla readers - that was the only way to fix this-instead of complete reinstallation of Windows).

The only driver that works for me is the Intel version 3.1.1307.364 issued on August 1, 2013.

    -Anyone else had similar problems?

Apart from this, the Bluetooth disconnects always happen: see http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T440s-major-WiFi-and-Bluetooth-instability/...

Can someone give me some advice please?

    I need help with this.

I found a solution to this problem.

Apparently, installing bluetooth driver through update system does not install it properly.

So I downloaded the latest driver of Lenovo driver download page, and instead run autorun.exe, I sailed to 64-bit dir and then run the installation program.

    Everything works fine now.

  • Can I update the image of factory restore?

    Hi all

I recently had the pleasure to make a 'factory restore' on a M100 and an A300.

While the process went smoothly (even if the A300 recovery disk creator should not be put back first to make it work), data that has been restored were, of course, obsolete because he didn't understand not updates either the operating system (Vista Home Basic) or to one of the Toshiba Software (including drivers and tools utility).

I know that you can return the system to Toshiba for a new image of the HARD drive by them (at great cost), but I don't know if that provides a picture of 'update' or if she simply replaces the original image (obsolete).

Is it possible the 'factory restore' image stored on the recovery partition can be updated and a user, or a technician of the 'non-Toshiba"without having recourse to external software such as Acronis?

Thanks in advance for all advice offered.

    Hey Buddy,

No, you can update the image of factory restore t. Settings (Windows, driver, etc.) are stored in an image that can t be changed or updated because these settings are pre-tested on your laptop computer and any change would be not compatible. In addition, I think that Windows updates are made with two or three clicks, you need just to a good internet connection. Alternative, you install Microsoft's latest Service Pack which contains many important updates ;)

By the way: I made my own image using Acronis image. After the installation of recovery disk Toshiba I removed all applications that I n t need (ConfigFree for example), installed the Windows updates and my other apps that I need (Skype, Office, etc.). After that, I tested the laptop a bit and finally and especially that I created an image with Acronis. So I can restore my own settings every time too. ;)

For what is interesting, what I ended up doing to solve my problems was to re - install Vista with the 'upgrade' option, so I don't lose any of my files or desktop settings...

After that, I had a few problems with my OS reinstalled with several (80 +) updates, SP1 and SP2 from catching up.  But overall these problems were minor compared to it, that I lived just to fix some missing files.
