• Intel 5300 in T400 high Ping problem!

  I bought a laptop T400 with a wireless card intel 5300 a few days ago, and I have installed the latest driver from intel which is v12.1.2.1 for 32-bit vista.

  I tried ping the gateway of my house, then feedback between 300-500 ms, sometimes going to 900msand sometimes the sound directly outdoors. I also tried to use my other card USB wireless to test this problem on T400, then it was fine, feedback constantly 206ms.

  IM using vista 32 bit with SP1, and I tried to reinstall vista as well and test without any software, then same problem.

  but, on my other pc, PING feedbacks are very good, constantly 206ms, if someone knows what's the problem? THX

  Check your 5300 card power management settings and make sure they are all set for maximum Performance.

  I just bought a Samsung SyncMaster 2443FW, 24 "TFT monitor with a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1200

  Problem:

  Monitor works fine with my new T400s and my old Acer laptop. However, with my T400 (described above), I can't do the monitor uses the 1920 x 1200 resolution. However, all the other ugly resolutions so I need it to work with 1920 x 120

  Problem solved:

  I was using my old monitor vga cable that doesn't use 14 pins (worked fine with my T400s and Acer laptop - but not with the T400).

  => When I switched to cable 15-pin that came with the monitor, the problem was gone!

• Lenovo T400s problems after cleaning

  Hello

  I have a Lenovo T400s, which was full of dust, due to the high temperatures and the slow performance, I decided to clean the cooler all by myself.

  After carefully removing each part, I managed to reach the cooler and clean. I put up successfully each piece of hardware, with the temperature now to a maximum of 70 degrees Celsius in mode performance. Yet, there are a lot of questions that I am yet to repair:

  1. the overall performance of the laptop are slower than before, with the browser and all other apps clearly slowed by something, even after the start of the laptop.

  2. sometimes when I plug in the power cord, the laptop suddenly crashes. It happened to me several times during the loading of the operating system or when I was working on the laptop. After I cleaned up the laptop, I got an error saying "plugged in, not charging", but I fixed it by removing and the battery connection.

  3. the Bluetooth adapter doesn't seem to work. Whenever I try to connect a Bluetooth mouse, the laptop freezes.

  An idea about the origin of these problems and how I could fix them? Thanks in advance.

  Yes, TPFanControl should work. Set the speed of the fan to 64 put maximum normal operation is 0-7.

• T400 Vista only 2.5 G of showing RAM

  I had 3G and 4G of RAM installed in the T400.  -> System control panel shows the good amount of physical RAM in both cases.  Be that as it may, the Task Manager displays only 2.5 G total.  I understand that the address space of 4G gets used to a certain extent by mappings device (or potential device mappings) including discrete graphics.  And the graphic chipset to take some real RAM.

  However, even with these two a maximum of 2.5 G is ridiculous.  Especially with the 4G installed.

  (My T61 provides all 3G and my PC with 4G installed is still avaiable 3.5)

  Any ideas on how to improve this?  All hope of BIOS mods, different chipset drivers?

  It's bad manners to answer some of my own questions?  I was exchange of the sticks of memory in and out and tilting discreet graphics card BIOS and integrated with graphics switchable and detection disabled.  Some interesting numbers about the available RAM and (very rough) power consumption/range:

  Base: Switchable graphics enabled, either 3G or 4G of RAM installed: total in Task Manager / performance-> 2517MB.

  Switchable graphics disabled, 3G of RAM: integrated-> still 2517 MB graphics, graphics processor dedicated-> 2553MB.  Oh boy!

  Off switchable graphics, 4 GB RAM: integrated-> 3029 MB graphics, graphics processor dedicated-> 3065MB.  better!

  Power consumption/battery life w/9cell, just office and a vim window opens, charge 95%: integrated-> 06:30, graphics discrete graphics-> ranged from 04:30 to 05:30.  Looks like ATI has a sort of ongoing Adaptive power thing.

  Passage to the graphics card integrated into the necessary BIOS a boot to let the driver (re) install, then reboot to return to a useful system with correct resolution. -On more testing, it seems that the dual-boot to switch to the integrated graphics intel only happens when done with a change in size of RAM.  You will need to test this further.

  Thus, it is possible to extend the available RAM by cutting one of the graphics units and stuffing in 4G of RAM.  It is a bit pricey and feels useless, but the bump for switchable was only a $75US.  I guess I'll run this thing w / 4G of RAM and only the integrated Intel graphics turned on unless I have something presentation happening requires that the controller (unlikely for this older hardware nerd) fancy graphics.

  Perhaps the above will be useful to someone.  Please correct the typos, thinkos or factual errors.  I'll get this ad @ www.beezmo.com one of these days as well as a few other notes of thinkpad.

  IIRC, the choices were 1280 x 800 (WXGA) or 1440 x 900 (WXGA + mine is).  W / models CTO, you had to choose one with the performance of the system.

  When you get the new iPod, you can use iTunes on your computer to select and synchronize the music you want on it, in the same way that you synchronize your current iPod - your iTunes will recognize them as different devices and will remember your choice of synchronization for each, it will not (unless, for example, you restore the backup of your current on her iPod) put the same content on both.

  Under Windows, I find that my CPU fan runs constantly audible. The fan made ramp immediately after Windows starts, even with no applications running. Windows resource monitor shows the CPU usage in the range of 25 to 40%. However, the maximum percentage of CPU frequency is consistently above 100% (usually around 110-115%).
