• Biggest disappointment ever

  I bought this laptop Lenovo Thinkpad T410 2 weeks ago and I am completely disappointed with this purchase. It is the biggest piece of junk that I never spent my money. I would never recommend Thinkpad for the following reasons:

  1 processing speed sucks - I had an acer and hp before. Both were less than $500 less, and had core 2 duo processors. Acer and HP IS at least 1.5 times as fast was slightly faster than the Thinkpad with i5 560 M processor. What a shame.

  2. wireless is a digrace - I added Intel centrino 6200 instead of default thinkpad bgn, for better wireless coverage and speed faster when I'm on my WLAN with 30Mbps plan and 2 users. I'm so disappointed in the performance. This laptop is at least 2 times slower than the HP that I've mentioned before, and same acer was faster than that. If I move my laptop even 6 inches, the signal falls for a few seconds and then resume again. I am very surprised, how can it be called a company laptops.

  3 Sceen is difficult to clean. During the presentation, I touched the screen to display the drawings and the strain is still there, even after the use of lotions, cleaning and dry cloth.

  4 CD/DVD writer is terribly strong: it's embarrassing, when you write a CD/DVD in front of customers or peers. It is so strong, that it disturbs everyone in the nearby cabins.

  5. the speakers are useless - unfortunately, I realized the harder path. Another customer presentation, I had to show them the product you tube campaign and the speakers were not good enough to be heard by the customers sitting 15-25 feet away. The same video was much better on my laptop Dell Inspiron to friends.

  There are more things that you vex and you bug to your life. But for the sake of justice, here are a few good features:

  1. fast start time awake mode 'sleep'. Within a few seconds he come and you can continue to work.

  2 battery performance okayish - up to the range of standard products. Consumes very little energy in standby mode and strategies of good power of Eve.

  3 nice Keyboard Layout - good typing but do not like the Fn key instead of the Ctrl key. This change is stupid and unnecessary.

  4. light in weight - I wear it a lot and its weight is extremely special for me and many other back packers or passenger.

  All in all I EVER recommend it to business people, developers, Designers, students or no matter WHAT BODY. I spend over a grand on this piece of s *, and I'm totally mad. My HP sucked with the battery and heat system but has at least a good performer and machine smooth if put on a dock, this piece of s * is junk and useless.

  This is T410, I don't know about the series W or X in the series. W series could be better than that. I would if I could replace it with W510, but don't think.

  I hope that we can resolve some of these problems out.

  1. The i5 - 560 M is a fast enough processor. By what metric you claim the HP and Acer to be faster?

  2. try to update your drivers with ThinkVantage System Update. Also, check if your wireless performance is set to Max Performance in Power Manager.

  3. use a damp cloth. fingerprints wipe immediately. A dry cloth tends to mess around.

  4 power Manager allows you to set the report level performance/noise to the optical drive. I have mine set to silence, but I never use it anyway.

  5. the speakers tend to suck ThinkPads, but with something like SRS HD Audio Labs, you can increase the volume ("perceived" being the key word). Fortunately, some of the more recent ThinkPads 2011 receive Dolby Certified speakers.

  ---

  1. the release of sleep should take about one second. Hibernation takes longer by nature.

  2. There are a few tips to improve the battery life. You have the discreet, integrate, or model the T410 Optimus?

  3. the button Fn has always been on the left on ThinkPad (AFAIK). You can enable or disable in the BIOS, but the keys will still read Fn-Ctrl. Some prefer it go, some prefer the other.

• EA6350 Question VPN

  I recently got a new laptop from my desktop which requires me to connect via a secure VPN tunnel.  My laptop has no problem to connect to my router and internet access.  However, when I log in my VPN then I only have access to my internal sites and readers, but no longer have full internet access.  If I take my laptop to say... McDonald's or Starbucks and the use of Wifi, I have no problem.  If I do a wired connect to my gateway, then I have also no problems, so I know this isn't my ISP or the laptop itself.  For some reason this seems to only happen with my router if I'm connected to it, either with a rigid cable or WiFi.  As the subject says, it is a model of EA6350 with Firmware version 1.0.4.164719.  It was working fine and then 5 days ago abruptly stopped.  I'm not positive if there was any kind of an update of the firmware or not, and I suspect, there is a setting somewhere, but I can't seem to find it.  Any thoughts on what could be the cause?  I thought that maybe it wa a signal problem, but as I said, I received it even in being hard wired to the router.

  I ended up putting the mac address of my laptop in my DMZ settings and that seemed to fix it.  Since my work laptop has its own level of security I want make a bypass for this purpose.

• Network connections sharing ghost that I can't remove using vista and xp

  I just have this problem above. Old shared connections to the file systems on the laptop running xp that will not disappear. They also appear on another computer running xp on the same network but then xp enabled me to remove vista does not work. I've tried everything I can think of, but nothing works.

  I was up at 02:00 and discovered that it was my fault all the time. No surprise there then.
  I had references to the readers that no longer exist that I forgot. Vista is not able to mark as not being more necessary, but allow recreation something with the same name and not necessarily the same content. The procedure to stop file sharing and then erases the link with the network of vista system request.
  I tried parts of your suggestions, but the references were external devices, I really expect Vista to hang on them in any case, they might still have been valid. I think there should also be a way to the administrator of killing existing or unwanted links to network locations.

• Only 24 of 48 drives available for the disk pool

  I have a MD3220 with a shelf of 1220 and I try to re - configure and create a pool of large disks with all 48 records.  When I go to create the disk pool, it only takes 24 14 to but shows 32 TB available disks.  I amazed the previous installation configuration because we had to take a tablet of 1220 from this table not used for another project, so now I'm back to reconfigure.  I wonder if the high-end features must be re-activated because I deleted the config.  Maybe, that's all.  When I go to md - storage.com to regenerate a key of course it doesn't have no idea what my system.  Is there something that I am missing.   Should be a two-minute task that will now take hours apparently.

  Ah, that's your problem. Yes two disks must be of the same size & speed, otherwise the pool will use the specifications of the smaller disks to build the pool. Yes, you can develop the direct pool you just need to get seen by MDSM readers and as long as they are showing that no, so you can assign them to a disk pool or group of disks that you want to.   I recently bought Halo 2. I just installed and the game does not start at the top. I installed it and reinstall it. I installed the recent game for the windows file. I've updated my computer. But the game does not start at the top. Since I have read that it is possible that there is some sort of compatibility issue with some windows 7.  Any suggestion or help would be most appreciated!

• Questions about the installation of the wrong firmware

  Hi all. I have a few questions for those who are more qualified than me on updates of firmware for optical discs. Here's the quick overview: I've been helping solve problems that have met a couple of our colleagues posters after completing the firmware updates. There is a possibility that the firmware that they installed was for the same brand but a different model, in this case the Philips DVD8801 against the DVD8881. In both cases, that the installation seems to have success, which means that the two were asked to restart when you have completed the installation. After installing the readers were no longer available in the bios or Device Manager. Disassembly of the filters made no difference, and it seems to me they should be able to see the device in the bios, even though Device Manager could not see due to a damaged filter problem. Readers are not detected when using DevCon either. So here are my questions:

  (1) how was to be updated with the wrong firmware? My thought here is that the reader had nothing in place to prevent that from happening, which for me is a little annoying.

  (2) because I'm assuming that the installation was successful (in the sense that it completed the installation), this is probably the cause for readers no longer appear? Basically, it is not the disc because the firmware and the drive do not match each other.

  (3) given that the disc is not localizable, is it possible to go back to the original firmware? I checked on the Philips site and the only thing it does for these models is the point to the Dell site (and the only available firmware is updated to the DVD8801) because they are OEM models. There seems to be no way to flash back to the original firmware (also a little unnerving).

• Facial recognition technology Optimus for T410 questions - please help

  Hi guys, I bought a T410 with NVS 310 graphics card and built-in webcam. Although the battery 9 cells works really well, I always like to save more power using the integrated graphics card Intel in light load. It's supposed to be done using NVIDIA Optimus but I can't ' find it anywhere or how to activate it. Some have said depends on pilots and I did not try that again. Please help for a long time.

  The next question is the software of face recognition, as my friend's Asus laptop has Smartlogon using face. I really enjoy doing on my T but I searched a lot of places and can't find it. I knew he had formerly VeriFace which seems to have stopped developing for Thinkpad. If anyone has this software, please give me the link.

  And once I found a problem with a device called Lexmark X 422, windows 7 reports that it may not start (code 10), I try the new driver and still no use. I have disable (uninstall) it can restore the entire system and now I can't find it in device manager to try to fix it again. My question is what is this device and how to correct these problems?

  Lexmark X 422 was probably your webcam, there is no need to do anything if the machine works fine now.

  Not sure on the recognition of faces, as far as I know there not this feature for ThinkPad.

• T410s: DVI/DP on the dock only with discreet/Optimus graphics?

  I have a T410s/w switchable graphics. Recently I have disabled graphics from NVidia (since it seems to be fried, but that's another story). Now, with the race on "integrated graphics", I can't use my dock (black screen) DP/DVI connectors, only VGA or the DP on the laptop itself works. -What is that supposed to be this way?

  So, I worked through the same issue on my fleet of T410s I built my own image of the base from scratch, so I had to take a few additional steps.

  Because you seem to think your graphics from nVidia or Optimus chips are fried, you need to get that fixed or looked at by a Lenovo technology before you continue.

  The T410s is going through its digital video signals the optimus nVidia chip and map of 3100 m discrete NVS. You must have the correct driver installed for the NVS 3100 M (update of windows treats it as a Standard VGA controller, I had to download the driver directly from nVidia)

  Then go into your bios and enable the nVidia Optimus as a display device.  It's the default "out of the box.
  Thus, by default out of the box, switchable graphics option of bios is disabled.

  Once you have configured these options, preventing any malfunction of hardware you have, video output digital will work on the Mini Dock Plus Series 3.

  IE9 64-bit mode to run without crashing and with active GPU rendering.

  IE9 32-bit mode crashes with rendering GPU helped to open with any graphics card I said.

  IE9 32-bit mode runs with software made fine.

  Live Movie Maker crashes when opened with nVIDIA graphics card, but NOT with the Intel one.

• Fan of correction, error, but for how long? (T410)

  I recently inherited a Lenovo T410 (2518), who was a computer job. The warranty expired in the middle of last year, and I understand that he had been in office use since around 2010. I don't think it would have done intensive heavy work either.

  Shortly after that I had the, I started getting the "fan error" message during boot, I understand is quite common with these models. I gave the computer of a friend of a friend, who works in it. He was able to resolve the problem of dismantling the computer and the fan spray with some kind of expensive silicone spray. What troubled me is that when he gives, he said he could work for another 5 years or 5 minutes! He also said that if it were to fail again, he wouldn't a repair value.

  Has anyone ever corrected their mistake of fan in the same way, with good results? Or is it better to replace the fan - and if so, are there good instructions on how to do it?

  Please note that there are two types of fans, make sure you get one that matches the graphic on your specific model (integrated vs. discrete).

  I meant $200 as a resale value, assuming the machine of lower range and the United States. No idea on what it is worth to you.

• Can no longer open a project - and readers of the report accident there?

  I worked on a project for a few months and just completed phase yesterday, has sent again and produced a bunch of DVD. Now, I can no longer open the project. It crashes every time, like auto save copies and save copies. I have to go back to a very old copy that works - they work if I go far enough - and do a lot of restructuring.

  Y at - it someone who can read a report for you to try to determine the problem?

  Yes, it happened with the film. Most of the cameras allowed to 'see' the film advance, if they released the limp, as the rewind crank would turn too. I knew better, but makes a shot at Williamsburg, Virginia, and one body was not moving. I have checked no - hurry, or too little coffee early in the AM? Fortunately, I was shooting with 3 Nikon, so was the film of two of the three for the start (missed some of the WA establishing shots), and when it was time to recharge, I checked the body #1 - Oops! Who corrects and got the images (returned on my own for a few of the shots WA) and learned a lesson, that I thought I knew - independently verify the rewind crank.

• When I plug my cell extreme l40g optimus he no longer shows on my computer, and I can't transfer files

  I used to be able to connect my mobile phone to my Windows 7 computers and photographs of transfer.  This feature has disappeared from both of my Windows 7 computers.  The mean that all drivers are up-to-date.  I find myself with three versions of the phone showing under "Devices" under "Hardware and sound" on my computer, these icons will eventually have no functionality.  Any suggestions?

• Workaround for importing between cloned readers sequence is no longer works - duplicate clips appear anything

  So we struggled massively with the eternal problem of the creation to have several editors working on the same project using cloned disks. To say the sharing of sequences is a nightmare is placing in slightly. We are on a feature-length documentary and our projects are massive, so we are importers of each and other sequences pray to God whenever it works without duplicating the main elements. The previous workaround solution to this if I wanted to, say, import a B training sequence on one of a sequence of drive, would be dupe of the project folder of the drive B, open it on a drive with drive B disconnected, reconnect all media in the project to their counterparts in the a drive, save the project, open a disc project and import the sequence desired my B drive project to chip away at. So many headaches that was, at least he tended to work.

  Now, I've duped the player project B, and to my surprise he relinked automatically to everything on a disk without even asking. Great, good! It now seems to ignore the top-level name difference (beyond the names of Player A and B, the structure of the drive is exactly the same) and is able to connect automatically without asking from the main directory to the top. Except when you import sequences of this project automatically reconnected, he dupes now all single item in the sequence. I was pulling my hair out trying to find a way around it, as it is effectively grind our project together to stop right now. At the automatic reconnection, a feature that has been added with an unexpected consequence? Did anyone else encounter this problem and have you found a way around it?

  For all he has foibles, I really think first is a great platform, but presents a caveat of insisting that the elements in a sequence reference key items in the project Panel, rather than just directly referencing the clips on the drive is prohibitive to the point of madness.

  Problem solved through Creative Cow - it's as simple that importation via browser media and not through the command import. Because they are apparently the same process, not sure why we work and not the other, but I'll take it!

• Interruption Optimus latency

  I have suffered with problems of latency interruption for a long period. They greatly affect my touchpad, as soon as they are sometimes very insensitive. Recently, I tried to watch 1080 p videos and the interrupt latency is simply too high for the video to follow.

  After spending many hours playing with the drivers, I finally reduced the problem down to the Nvidia Optimus drivers. With the disabled driver I have averaged about 120us, while with the compatible driver, I am continually see latency beyond 2ms. However, the problem seems to be intermittent, every few minutes or if the latency will be fine, and then it will begin to spike.

  Everyone has similar problems or know a solution?

  After reading the rest of the forums, this seems to be the same problem that the ' T410 extremely annoying Audio problems, "but I did have some audio issues, only video. I'm going to call this resolved until the new Optimus drivers are out.
