T420 battery

I don't know if it is the only community, or if Lenovo reps get here and can help. My computer is old about 2 1/2 years, the battery life is lasts barely an hour and fast discharge. I did the battery meter reset and did not improve the battery life. Power management is set for maximum battery life. I checked the Support area and there is nothing about my model. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Guaranteed battery life on most phones is 1 year, it is pretty much an industry standard. Although there are options for the battery warranty of 3 years for users to the company for a broad exchange, it is quite rare and sometimes not worth the extra cost.

ThinkPad battery, all battery technology that exist on the market, it runs in the long run. Just like the tires on the car.

You might have bought two cars of the same exact specs and tires, but you would probably wear different levels, according to the styles of driving, the type of road surfaces you use, how many times you brake, etc.

Battery is the same, and level of wear is still earlier to measure, because how you discharge/recharge the battery, the temperature of the discharge, the frequency of discharge/charge, would affect the farm differently.

While, 2 and 1/2 years is somewhat a good durability of a laptop battery. Some people may get more mileage out of them, while others would get less mileage out of them according to usage patterns and battery brands.

Finally, your husband's laptop computer is a lower end model, does not mean that the battery used is also the lower part. For most the intentions and goals the batteries used in modern laptops are fairly similar quality because of the nature of production and technology, also the competitive nature of the industry does not cost reduction in the production process, because it would provoke questions of quality and security.

It is normal so he can make a full discharge of the battery as part of his learning cycle every 90 days. Make sure that this isn't that. If this isn't the case, the reason, give it 24 hours. If it is fully charged, update the system (including RAID firmware, driver first) firmware. If not fully charged yet or it reproduces quickly, then replace the battery - power down to replace.

  • T420s low battery

I bought a cheap T420s of soneone a few months ago, and if the specifications are good, the battery life is not. Under normal conditions of use, I get about 1 hour and a half, but if I do something intensive grpahics, he died in 25 minutes. Now, since the College begins, I need some strong autonomy.

I read that people get up to 10 hours of battery life with 9 batteries, and 6 hours with 6 batteries, can someone tell me how to get this performance? If I need a battery (which is highly likely), I would prefer a reccomendation and if possible, no part erased only out of the back, but if this collage party gets a lot more juice for the price, so I'd go with that.

  • T420 unable to charge battery

    Hello

    A month ago I received a brand new model T420 4180F65 with a battery 9 70 ++ (45N1007).

Yesterday I was no longer able to charge the battery which now remains at 0%, and I can use the thinkpad with the AC adapter is plugged in.

The battery has only 37 cycles. The application of battery lenovo in windows 7 indicates the battery has an error and can not load, so I am also unable to try to perform a reset of the battery.

I've seen similar problems here, which was resolved with an update of the firmware of the battery, but there for this model of battery. I am so unhappy that the battery for some reason any already dead? Or maybe this battery also this firmware error?

For a hardware problem, you must call the hotline.
I am guessing, but it seems that the battery is defective.

  • T420s UltraBay battery 57Y4536 (old) vs A 0, 36310 (new)

I want to buy UltraBay battery for mine t420s and these 2 options:

    57Y4536 (old) Euro-105

    http://www.Verkkokauppa.com/Fi/product/53279/crsbf

    36310 A 0 (New) - 150 euros

    http://www.Verkkokauppa.com/Fi/product/12878/dhfrs

The problem with the first battery cheaper on the referenced site above t420s is not listed as a laptop taken in charge. But when I check these:

    http://shop.Lenovo.com/ISS_Static/WW/EMEA/merchandising/PDF/en/T420s_DS_EN.PDF

    http://shop.Lenovo.com/us/sitelets/batteries

    http://www.nbwn.com/products/20937/Notebook-Accessories/battery-power-supply/battery-Lenovo-IBM/Leno...

The first battery is clearly indicated for t420s.

I would be grateful if you help me to answer following questions:

    1. is it more age compatible with t420s 57Y4536 ?

2 are there advantages of the new model on the old model? Is - this block?

I have defenetelly feel uncomfortable to pay 150 euros for the new model, if the old 105 Euro model works very well.

Both batteries are basically the same, the 57... We're older, without the authentication chip (does not work in T430s), the 0 a... one is more recent, with authentication chip (also works under T430s).

I use T420s with the 57Y4536. It's a Li - Pol battery. I bet that the new is also Li - Pol because Li - Pol is the only technology bringing cubic, not cylindrical, which is necessary for this battery.

  • Battery loose on new T420

    Hi all

I myself recently got a new T420. Everything except the battery is OK. For some reason any battery 6-cell (55 +) not closely attached with the laptop. (Yes, I move the 'switch' on the 'lock' position). the battery is a little loose, it moves clearly and you can hear it clicking on if I move the computer. I guess it is normal to have some 'soft' but I think it is more 'normal' (and usually I try not to pay too much attention to minor details, but this one is bigger than I can possibly ignore).

Someone of you have similar problems? Have you managed to fix it?

    -af

Please note that the solution presented in my photo above turned out be not quite perfect: I noticed that the implementation of the Ribbon to the center stack is part of the flex, pressed by the battery case.

A better solution is to divide the pile into two piles placed on the left and right of the battery compartment edges: the case is much more rigid. The battery is supported in 4 points in this way, with no sagging.

  • Battery and type of machine T420

I want to buy a new battery 9 cells for my lenovo t420 and I wanted to know the machine type important when buying the battery is? For example, my machine type is 4178-A2G. The battery is supported by lenovo t420?

Thanks in advance for the help!

type of machine as xxxx-xxx is not important in the management of battery. T420 uses all of the same type of battery.

  • Battery life more long T420s

y at - it a battery of longer life for the T420s. I can't seem to find one on the lenovo site, although it does not find my model number 4171-7fu either. the current battery gives me only a few hours of life.

    any ideas appreciated.

or just get a second battery of 6 cells. The problem with the ultrabay battery is that they are expensive and their longevity is not large. In addition, it takes about half as long as a 6 main cells and costs the same.

  • Battery critical shut down - 50%! (T420)

My laptop (Win 7 Pro) T420 suddenly decided that 50% (and not 5%) is the critical battery level. Without warning, it will hybrinate - even as I type. I checked the power settings - battery critical level is set at 5%, Hybrinate is disabbled except battery critical, active power only the sleep switch, etc. The Lenovo battery util signals that the battery is in good condition.

Can someone tell me what could be wrong? I don't see that I've implemented anyting incorrectly, and this problem did not exist until now. Suggestions?

    Thank you!

Are you running TPFanControl? Troubadix has mentioned such behavior.

  • Improve the life of the battery on t420s

Hi guys, I have recently switched to Ubuntu for my laptop to work, which is currently I have a new T420S. I have the standard battery on the bootom of laptop and also the extra battery on the Bay slim, I'd say that I'd be lucky to get 2.5 hours with the two batterys fully charged. I noticed that the fan is always on and there is no software I can find who can control or regulate the speed of the cpu fan and it seems that his constantly at 100% whish I think is the cause of my problem of battery life. Everyone here with success of Ubuntu running on their T420s and have had similar problems?

    Thanks in advance

not really had time to tinker and try to solve this problem, so I switched to a macbook air, it works and build so much higher quality compared to the plastic t420s

  • T420S display switch to 50 Hz battery power

I just got my T420s, and I love it, except for a boredom that I can't mitigate. No matter what options I choose, whenever I draw from the power adapter, the display of flickers for a second, back to the top, and of course, it went to 50 Hz. When I plug the power back in, it flashes again and back to 60 Hz.

I tried everything I can think of. I did the graphics properties and made sure to turn off all the power saving features when the battery is selected. I tried the new 60 Hz after setting that it has introduced to 50 Hz then on the battery. This work until the power is reconnected and then removed, at which point, she goes back to 50 Hz.

This happens as well with the display of Lenovo and Intel a genereic driver. It happens with the preloaded image that comes with the laptop and with a clean install. I don't know if it's a bug with the drivers, or Power Manager software. Does anyone else have this problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Red blackBerry exclamation Z10 there is in the battery icon when it is connected to the Thinkpad T420

I'm new here and the Z10 is my first BlackBerry smartphone.

I noticed that when I out took it of the box and connected to my Thinkpad T420 that was running Windows 8, it started to charge the battery and it was OK, and then I installed the link of BlackBerry that comes with it and after that I restarted my laptop, there is a red in the battery icon exclamation point , and it seemed that he was arrested for battery.

I uninstalled the link BlackBerry and after restart, it began to charge the battery again.

I don't know if this is a bug or not.

    Thank you.

I have not tried the phone with Windows 8.

I am trained on technical support for Windows 7, and I do technical support for Windows 7.  At the moment I have no training to win 8 support.  If your device is running Windows 8 - RT, I would put a strong bet on a compatibility issue with the link for the phone drivers. If the device uses the standard Win 8 OS, then I would be inclined to think that it is a problem of compatibility of equipment of a certain type. From what I read link is supposed to work with Win 8. I do not know RT

    Read on...

I think of how link installed on Win 7 systems, that it comes with its own drivers. I never watched very closely into that because I never had a problem with the link using Win 7.  I had some problems with XP on some older computers. Without the software Link installed Win 7 installs its own generic drivers.

I also found with Win 7 computers with the former manager of office installed, these drivers to work also with the Z10 to charge and be able to read the card SD and memory of the phone via the USB port. Software Desktop Manager does not work with the Z10.

Try if you can do it in 8 Win.  Install the software Link. Go to the properties of system with the phone BB device.  Uninstall the phone in the hardware section. This should uninstall the drivers. Restart the computer with the phone powered on and connected. I'm game if drivers Win 8 BB will be installed on the recovery that the pilots of the link. I never tried with Win 8. It may be interesting the shot.

Something else interesting to try if this does not work, connect the Z10 using an external powered USB HUB between him and the computer. The CENTRE acts as a buffer. Maybe the OS will react differently this way.  I had problems where a powered USB HUB solved some problems with specific USB devices. It's more with printers, scanners and GPS devices.

Another problem is that I believe that your Thinkpad works more like a Tablet than a full blown computer. This may be a problem with the software Link. It would be interesting to know if someone else who reads this, use the Link software on a desktop or full blast laptop computer that runs 8 Win. If so and there is no problem, this should limit the problem the T420, rather than the system Win 8 or the software link itself.

Another interesting looking thing is so that the phone can not load the Link software able to read the phone anyway?  If so, you may have to live with the fact you can save and restore the phone with the T420, but not load.

If you sync the phone with Hotmail, you will have a form of a backup of your contacts, and I also believe that data. I tried syncing the phone with Yahoo and Gmail. Gmail has had lots of questions. Yahoo has worked but not exceptional. I found that Hotmail works best with the Z10 for synchronization.

If you have Outlook, you can install the Outlook Hotmail sync tool. This is available on the website of Ms. It is called Outlook connect if I remember correctly. This way you can configure MS Outlook to sync with your Hotmail account. This will keep the phone and your Outlook all synchronised with Hotmail.  I do this with a number of Z10 with great success. You will need to make yourself a Hotmail e-mail account. Then, you will need to do some reading to get it going.

  • Impossible to use the extended battery T420 extension

It is quite disconcerting to have the laptop stop and be empty when the battery life indicator said there is more than 6 hours of life left.

My T420 has a senior 55 + and 27 ++ long battery life.  If the main battery is used to power, when the main battery reaches 0%, it will fail to pass the long battery life and die.  It's not only to stop, it will stop.  Windows don't like this.  If the computer is using the extended battery for power, it can switch successfully to the main battery when the battery reaches 0%.

There seems to be no way 'approved' to force the first laptop using the extended battery.  I got this laptop a few weeks, but in my experimentation, the laptop uses preferably the battery with the lowest percentage of all.

For normal use, long battery life load profile I programmed to stop at 95%, this will get the laptop started on right stack when the two are connected, but not help if I'm out and on the use of the main battery and want to extend by adding the long battery life.

The only method I found to force the laptop to use the battery when the main battery is low-capacity must simply remove the main battery.  Of course, to do this, I have to either stop the laptop or the put it hibernates in.  Then, remove the main battery and attach the long battery life.  Reboot the laptop.  So far, I have no problems with this method. The laptop is perfectly happy with just 27 ++ battery attached.  But if I'm going to pass the batteries, I might as well have an extra 55 ++ lying around and waive the 27 ++.

Would be nice if Lenovo could provide instructions or a software patch that would allow me to tell the laptop to use preferentially the extended battery as soon as it is available.

The way the system is designed, it's that you won't always unload the 2nd battery first, not the main battery. If this is not the case, check the switch on the 2nd battery. Make sure it is in the position "on / green.
