Windows VISTA Home Prem on DELL Inspiron 1521 will not start

Read the message below. It has been copied from another thread and the poster has been informed to start a new thread with his question. What is ironic, is that I have exactly the same problem on my Dell.

After downloading some updates to Vista my Dell desktop computer restarted and tried to load step 3 updates, it moves very quickly from 0% to 100% and then restarts, only to go back into the same loop of trying to set up step 3 and restart.

I tried the following, starting in safe mode, same results updates are trying to configure.

Auto repair, I am told by a message, it cannot be repaired.

System Restore, I have only 2 system shown to restore points and they are at the time of the upgrade, if I try these points to restore I get an error message.

I tried to reboot from the original installation provided CD but all I get is 'windows is copying files', then a black screen.

I tried the boot iso but neosoft option again to the message windows is to copy the files, and then the black screen.

I'm in thr stage where I can not think of anything else other that to go to a data recovery specialist, to recover the files most important (have over 200 GB of various things on the hard disk) and then reset to factory settings and load data and try and find the sources of all the programs that I had. It looks like an enormous task and it is the main computer for my business. If a kind soul has suggestions as to how I can get this situation somehow, I would be eternally grateful.

Thanks in advance

I'm fairly warned to get to a point to get my data before a complete reconstruction, however, I give that easy. Anyone else having this problem. I'd really like to find a way to solve.

If safe mode does not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

Four "beeps", could indicate a memory problem, if you are comfortable working inside the computer, try to open the case, remove and reinstall all memory modules and see if that makes a difference.

If you not comfortable working with the removal and the reinstallation of the components, then I suggest that you take the Inspiron 530 to a repairman.

  • Dell Inspiron 17R will not start

    Hey,.

My Dell Inspiron 17R laptop 5720 was working fine until today, she won't start now. I had a virus, but Avira seemed to clean it properly, so I thought everything is ok now, but after restarting my laptop I didn't even have the "Dell" screen more. I've been Googling this topic for hours, but no one seems to have this kind of problem. Most of the users get stuck after the POST screen, but I don't yet get there. I just press the power button and that's it - laptop starts, but doesn't show anything. 1 out of 10 times, I managed to start and it works perfectly, even restart Windows it works then, but once disable us it probably will start again for the next 7-8 attempts.

    Things I've tried:

-Remove the battery, hold the power button / stop for 60 seconds

-In the course of running Dell Diagnostics (regular and thorough mode) test - it detects no error

    -Commissioning with or without battery

    -Flashing of BIOS (A14)

    -Reinstalling Windows, even tried Linux

-Remove the strips of memory, trying to start with one stick (I had 2 x 4 GB) - will not change anything

It looks like a problem that does occur from time to time. It is a hardware or a software problem? Is there anything else I should try before sending it for repair?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi randomthings,

I appreciate for all stages of misjudged shootings.

I recommend you to disconnect all external devices. Turn on the system and check if there are codes of beeps at startup.

Given that the system turns after several attempts, it may be due to poor nutrition or inadequate food, bad drive HARD or other hardware problem.

A poor, distressed or inadequate diet is often the cause of this problem. If the hard disk does not have enough power during the first time the computer starts, it will not be able to spin the platters of hard drive fast enough to start the computer. However, if you restart the computer, two, three, or four times, because the platters spin already, he is able to get the drive to speed and able to boot from the disc. Try with an AC adapter / CC known good and control; If the problem continues, I suspect it is a HDD failure.

Please, remove the HARD drive and turn on the system and check the status.

Please find the manual for Inspiron 5720 in the following link:

  • Dell Inspiron 17 - will not start - get hard disk clicking noise

I am able to boot up the laptop to the BIOS (F2) and the laptop passes all diagnostics - I upgraded from Windows 8 to 10 Windows about 6 months ago and everything has been great to work - no problem at all.  Then a month ago started the problem of loud noise clicking.

Here is my problem laptop > I start pressing the power on button - I can hear the fan start - power and the drive light - but one or two seconds later, the drive LED turns off and it's the disk hard clicking noise starts.  I have to then press and hold the power button until the laptop stops.  I can hear the stop of the fan and Park disk heads - then all the lights will turn off.  Then I have to start this process all over again [sometimes more than 8 to 10 times] until the laptop finally gets up and allows me to connect.

Nobody knows what will fix this problem?

Question...  You have whatever it is listed in the "Network adapters" section of "Device Manager" now?

While ensuring that the exclamation point is not for your wired network device (plausible) or bluetooth (plausible) and you just need to configure your wireless network to connect to * your * wireless network now.

You may have to contact Dell to see why none of their drivers receive your wireless device works on the original operating system, what they included.  This could be a hardware problem PURE.

"About MSDN or TechNet product key
They are genuine Microsoft product keys, they are in fact retail licenses, but it is expected for a product specific Microsoft Software Developer Network (MSDN) and TechNet channel for professionals who pay a subscription. The main objective is for evaluation purposes. The big thing to their subject, unlike Microsoft, MSDN or TechNet keys evaluation software expires. Because the agreement by virtue of which the subscription is provided is a single license, none of the software should be distributed outside of it. Although its $50,000 worth of licenses, it is for one person only for use and no one else. Unfortunately, no matter the conditions of license, people still abuse of the program, two key product gift or sell on auction sites. Microsoft it issues licences in good faith that customer will not do it, but I guess human nature win on.

In your case, what has probably happened is, you bought a license MSDN key, which carries up to 10 activations unlike packed full of retail licenses which carry 1 activation. The person who sold it to you probably sold to 10 other people. Somewhere along the way, one of these people could have installed on a second system activated, because it went past 10 activation threshold, Microsoft has detected that he was abused and blocked the key for later use. »
