  I started to notice a new peircing sound really annoying ear on the SL500 I received last week.

  It's a very high-pitched sound that hurt my ears and gives me a headache. I first noticed it in class yesterday.

  I'm in dual boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu Lucid Beta on my new Edge 13 "(Intel). I have problems with the sound: things work in W7 but on Ubuntu I don't get sound from the internal speakers, even when headphones are connected. In fact things worked at first, until I hit once the button mute, reactivate after I started having sound from speakers and headphones at the same time, and then for some reason, no noise in the headphones. I tried to change settings in its preferences, but not luck.

  check in the settings on the mixer (in the control panel > & Sound Audio devices > device Volume > advanced > [new window] Volume Control) that the output MIC channel is cut. This should stop the feedback.
