T500 completely scrambled discrete graphics

My T500 has developed a serious problem with the video of the graphic interface is completely corrupt.

I tried on the features of dual screen with my L170p monitor. As I used it, I noticed a video corruption, particularly on applications slipped between the views. Finally, I decided that it is not really me anyway, and so I minimized the 2 display resolution (800 x 600) and disabled the option "extend my Windows desktop on this monitor.

However, corruption has continued and I decided to restart it. However, before I could, the machine gave a BSOD that was mostly unreadable. Reboot, the Windows XP splash screen was also altered; I tried to use the Fn + F7 to switch to the external display, but it was no better. Try to connect fingerprint BSOD machine'ed - this text is unreadable, but I saw the word '' parity '' in there. From this point, it went from bad to worse. Connect the external display and try to get the BIOS with the F1 to the ignition, I could see a text there, but it is mostly illegible and overlapping with lots of video noise and the vertical bars cyan, flashing boxes of all colors, etc..

Somehow, I managed to do enough to get the BIOS to switch to the built-in graphics card and was able to boot Windows and install the Intel graphics driver, so the machine is little functional again.

However, go back to "discrete graphics" gives the same problem: no video on the internal LCD screen, only scrambled on the external monitor. If I allow Windows to start with discrete graphics, TI BSOD with an unreadable screen for the most part, but it seems to speak to shut down Windows to avoid damaging the material and the word 'conflict' is here, too.

Configuration: T500 type 2081-CTO, 4 GB RAM, Windows XP SP 3, fully updated with drivers

Display of the BIOS settings (all other settings are default):

Main default video device: internal

Initializing display: Thinkpad LCD

: Initially graphics discrete graphics, now integrated Graphics

OS detection for switchable graphics: disabled

I wondered if the bi-ecrans mapped configuration somehow ATI video RAM so that it comes into conflict with the top of that 4 GB of RAM. Remove a 2 GB DIMM has not helped. However, once the machine has restarted successfully with Windows, the ATI driver has not been loaded (as the discreet graphics card has been disabled) and so perhaps all that has been mapped has not been not mapped? However, I expect memory graphic mapping be reset to zero at the start anyway. And since the video is so completely that screwed up at startup, it is resembling more a permanent hardware failure, in which case the machine back under warranty.

Are there any other suggestions on how to proceed?

Best regards

-The

The machine came back last Friday - the technology has replaced the video chip, as well as the keyboard, for some reason any. He had also installed Vista x 64; I tried to learn to love it, I really have, but after a few days, I have decided that the benefits outweigh the problems of compatibility, I got with my (admittedly old) version of Lotus Notes. So I reinstalled XP Pro and everything is now back to normal - although I'm not willing to try the external chart again on this machine.

Best,

    * TEMPORARY *.

I found a way to stop the fracas. I disabled switchable graphics in the BIOS. There are two related settings and force the operating system to ignore the presence of switchable material. The system runs the only dedicated graphics processor.

Before, I was not transformed into integrated graphics, but accidents are produced. It seems only fair that the option of integrated graphics card upsets the system.

There was some graphic anomalies appearing at the time such as cutting of funds through a window without reason.

I just have to wait for an updated driver.

  • Integrated vs. discrete graphics-> processors

    Hello world

I am looking to buy a new computer workstation E30, and I am a little uncertain on which I should choose between integrated and discrete graphics. I understand it, in effect, what the differences are and I would go with discrete graphics, but I'm confused by why each option comes with a different set of processors to choose. For example, if I choose an E30 with integrated graphics card, I can choose a range of Intel Core Xeon processors, but if I choose to go with discrete graphics, I can only select one among a range of different Xeon processors.

Originally, I had planned to go with the Intel Core i7-2600 with the graphics card NVIDIA Quadro 600 processor, but this combination is available only if I select the integrated graphics card, I read is generally worse than discrete graphics. I am happy to go with discrete graphics, but I'm not sure how the Xeon processors compare with the Core i7-2600.

If I intend to use my computer for CAD programs running, but also of the games, should which way I go?

The new Integrated GPU exists on the same chipset as the CPU. The new i3, i5 and i7 processor all have an integrated onboard gpu. Some of the Xeon processors used in the E30 does not have an integrated gpu, that's why only some Xeon processors are the choice when you choose the option only discrete.

The integrated gpu + discreet graphics card option is really a direct influence on performance, since only the discreet graphics card will be used.

Xeon processors are processors designed for servers, workstations, etc., that are held permanently the large memory and cpu intensive operations. The supply of RAM ECC on the Xeon also reduces the error rate when used with these processes.

If you try to run games, Quadro 600 isn't really all that good, you're better with a game cards, who may have some compatibility issues in the E30. In addition, 280 watt on the E30 power will not support a lot of graphics card. Also according to CAD programs, then you can get away with using a standard of play rather class graphics card workstation cards. that is, many Autodesk products can work with playing cards.

I think you should probably look to build your own office rather than buying an E30, if you also want to play games. If you have the money, then you can get S20, D20, C20x, which are better suited to the range of uses you have in mind.

PS ThinkStation S20 does not have provision for Integrated GPU, therefore, it cannot be bought with the discreet graphics card and it does not support the i3, i5, i7 cpu of the class.

  • Problems with discrete graphics from NVS 5200 m on T430s

    Hey all,.

I just got my T430s mail this past weekend, and I had trouble with the Blue Screen of Death. It happened twice so far, and both times the graphics card is not recognized after reboot. The first time it happened, I tried to do a system restore, but that did nothing. I reinstalled the initial configuration using the recovery partitiion operating system, and that did the trick.

The blue screen of death just happened again, and exactly the same problem has cropped up again. After reboot, the system no longer recognizes it has a discrete graphics card. When I try to start the Nvidia Control Panel, it tells me that it cannot detect a discrete graphics card in the system.

I did a quick search of the forum, and I can't find any thread with a similar problem. I found this in the Lenovo support area, but it is not relevant to my http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/diagnose-and-fix/detail.page?DocID=HT052544equipment >

On the NVIDIA site, I can only find drivers 'Beta' for NVS 5200 M http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-304.79-beta-driver.html>. After you download the driver and any attempt to install, the system gives me the same error that it cannot find any compatible graphics hardware.

    Here's my hardware configuration:

    ThinkPad T430s

    i5 3320 M 2.60 GHz

    NViDIA NVS 5200 m

    4 GB of RAM (stock)

    360 GB HARD drive (stock)

It is located in Optimus. I don't think that there is only a discreet.

I called Lenovo support center and discovered that there is a new graphics driver. Have not had a problem with the blue screen of death since then. Looks like that was the problem.

Once more, if it happens again, I'll be sure to post here.

  • T500 (vista x 64): graphics (ati radeon 3650) lack of device driver

I realized recently that I've been running on integrated graphics, so I checked the Device Manager and cannot find my discreet ati radeon 3650 device anywhere. In my display settings, there are only 2 sets of integrated graphics card intel 4500, when it can be the one who said mobility radeon hd 3650. I installed the new video card driver for the ATI radeon lenovo support and still nothing (Yes the correct version etc.), the ati mobility did not show in the Device Manager to all. I tried to address ati to high power mode, still nothing, resulting in my computer down most of the time, it seems to put on powered down. The only device driver available seems to be my integrated graphics card intel crap. I tried in the bios to set the display to set the discrete graphics, white screen on lcd screen, gets all the times I have reboot, I had to plug an external monitor on my laptop to return the parameters to the switchable graphic on bios. Is anyway to fix this or what is going on b/c my mobility radeon card suffered a hardware failure? Thank you.

It sounds like your radeon ATI have a problem. You let guaranteed? Application of a force on the GPU ATI chipset allow it works momentarily?

If you have not guaranteed, then you should stick with your integrated gpu.

  • T400 w/Discrete Graphics gives the blue screen of death

    Hello

I just got my T400 with discrete graphics.  From the start for the first time, Vista Basic told me that the computer does not close correctly (I'm guessing at the factory).  I started it normally (not safe mode) and it booted to Vista, but the preparation of the system 3.1 popped up and asked me what I wanted to do.  I chose "Enter system Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE)" and he did his thing and the system seems to work fine after that.

After playing with the features a bit, I decided to close the lid and let it go to sleep and then wake him.  After awakening, the screen shows the office, then black, then I got a blue screen saying that a device driver signed an infinite loop.

I was able to reproduce this problem several times and decided to change the BIOS settings to run only integrated graphics.   The system has worked under integrated grahics so I decided to run the update system and Windows Update and updated as supply manager.  After that, whenever I set the graphics settings in the BIOS to hybrid or discrete, the computer will boot into vista and then give a blue screen right after the flash of the Bureau on the screen.

Please let me know what I can try.  Currently, I restore the hard drive to the factory image.

I really can't believe the laptop left the factory like that.

    * Update

I ended up sending my laptop in the warehouse, and they had to replace the motherboard.  Now everything works.

Dealing with technical assistance has been horrible... but Mark_Lenovo helped me through this process and even extended my warranty as compensation to receive a machine comes with 2 problems: 1) a defective hard disk image and 2) a defective hand on Board that caused the onboard graphics to fail.

  • Dv6-6060sa I have discrete graphics memory or graphics memory UMA? + Where is 'Fan System' B "

    Hello

I will try to replace a fan on my Pavilion DV6-6060sa laptop, I have been looking around on the net and read through the repair earlier to better understand which component needs to be replaced.

I'll be changing the system 'B' fan, as indicated by the message error at startup. (I tried the jet of air through the vents, but it did not work.)

In order for me to buy the correct number, I need to know if I have the Discrete or UMA memory.

As stated above, I have a Pavilion DV6-6060sa unit, the extract below comes from the maintenance manual.

    (12) heat sink (includes the thermal material replacement):

For use only with the computer models equipped with ATI Mobility Radeon HD4650
    graphics subsystems
    518435 001

Intended only for computers models graphics subsystems with discreet
    graphics memory
    512837 001

Intended only for computers models graphics subsystems with UMA
    graphics memory
    512830 001

Could you let me know what part number I require and also send me a link for a HP original spare part please?

The fan I will replace is the closure of the fan of the power button, looking down to the laptop from a view of eye birds that it is located on the upper left corner. The two vents (the left one) and the other on the part superior usud have hunted air of the fan, which is now not working. I guess it's the 'B' system fan and the heat sink?

Please can you confirm the above information?

Including a description of what 'B' system fan is? (Thank you)

    I appreciate your help, Simon.

    Hello:

When I look at the service manual, based on the GPU configuration your laptop is, you need to this Fan/Heatsink combo:

For use only with the computer models equipped with a graphics subsystem with 1024 MB

discrete memory HP Part # 641477-001.

It's maintenance manual, you need to refer to the... Chapter 3, page 30.

For some reason, I need to know this, when you order a new fan.

Thanks for any help on this.

    Hello:

The service manual doesn't list graphic adapters as discrete for models with AMD processors.

See the table in Chapter 1 on 1-2 and 1-3 pp.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c02985882

So, I have to say that you need the Assembly of fan/radiator for a laptop AMD with the memory of the UMA.

He is the only one, I noticed that in Chapter 3.

  • Need help to install a new discrete graphics card

I had a desktop Pavilion p6101f, upgraded to Windows 7, with an integrated Geforce 9100 graphic card. I want to install a discreet card to increase a little things. The HP support instructions say that the first necessary step is to "disable on board and select the right setting in the BIOS" by going into the Setup (F10) immediately at startup, go to the Advanced tab and then select the type of card being installed, which would be PCI - E. Problem is, there is absolutely no sign of the graphics options in the advanced options, or a different tab in my BIOS setup screens. So, what gives? Can I just skip this step and go directly to step 2 - disable the integrated graphics card drivers before installing the new card? Or do something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the clarification. Your correct, it is just to delete the previous drivers and installing the card, then the software from the CD of EVGA. To 31W of power, the card has doesn't require any power plug (s).

I send you a link to theManual

    Hello

I own an alienware 14(Haswell model). When I press fn + f5 to switch integrated graph and discreet n/b, it says your graphics solution is automatically configured for optimal performance and does nothing. I think it's something to do with the bios, but I can't find any hybrid option in the bios.

Depending on your system configuration and the installed operating system, I will go ahead and show you the steps to have different applications that run using a specific card. So please give me your number system by private message service.

  • CS5 requires a discrete graphics card?

My computer has a Core 2 Duo and 3 GB of memory, but only graphics onboard. CS5 Design Premium system requirements include 'card graphics OpenGL hardware acceleration, color 16 bits and 256 MB of VRAM'. Does this mean that I can't run CS5? Or that it just means that if I want the benefits of a graphics card, the card must meet these requirements?

I should be able to answer this question myself with a bit of web searching, but couldn't! Thanks in advance.

Depends on what you are doing. It will work, but I can't assure you that it will work well, especially Photoshop.

Why not download the demo and check it out for yourself?
