T60 widescreen freezes

Hey guys,.

I have a T60 widescreen that freezes... Usually less than a minute after starting windows. I swapped in known good ram and hard disks from another machine without flaw. When I installed (2) the memory of 2 Gig chips it lasted about 30 seconds more, compared to about 45-60 seconds with memory that one chip. The point where it freezes is after windows loads and everything is ready to use. Usually I could select "start," "control panel", and then it would freeze until I can do a wider choice. Can someone help me solve this problem?

Thank you

Welcome to the forum!

What the battery on this T60 of yours? Defective and/or generic batteries have been known to cause freezing of the system on this generation of laptops.

  • Strange boot problem. Error 2102 UltraBay.

I just added a mainboard renovated my T60 Widescreen (model 8743). Everything works fine except that I can't start with my CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive in the ultrabay slot.

The system hangs. I'm trying to get into the BIOS, the screen will not come. After 3-4 minutes, the system gives me the following message: Error initializing 2102 (and slightly more). It is basically a problem of housing Ultrabay. I can then access the BIOS. BTW, the UUID in the BIOS is set to zero. DVD players, I try are produced in 06/07 and are both the kind Multi (DVD-RW/CD-RW).

Thus, the system boots fine with the DVD player on. Once it is running, I can insert it into the machine, Win7 records and everything works fine.

I have extensively checked online but don't see any solutions. Any help appreciated woud. If it's a motherboard problem, I need to return it. Thank you.

I returned the map leading to the seller after knowing that when I can't enter the BIOS with the inserted DVD is basically a hardware error. After receiving a different motherboard it solved the problem.

  • T60 freezes when you move the trackpoint right after starting

    Hello

I had this problem for quite a long time. Initially, I thought that it was due to an update to Windows XP, but I couldn't find any message on newspapers when the laptop crashes. I reinstalled XP many times to get rid of any incompatibility related to the software, but even with a new installation, it was happening.

I realized recently after several tests that the problem occurred more frequently when you move the mouse (trackpoint or touchpad) just after the start of the system (cold start or start of hibernation). What I discovered is that this will happen is no longer if I suspend the laptop after starting the system, do not touch the mouse.

The symptoms are that Windows freezes. No activity at all HD, the system responds to any keyboard and mouse input. If I close the lid of the portable computer system is not put into hibernation. The only way to regain normal operation is pressing the button for a few seconds, then the system turns off, and then turn on normally.

All the drivers are up to date.

Someone at - there experience this problem?

    Thank you

  • T60 8743 Widescreen - Mystery component

I changed the main Board on a T60 8743. A small component fell once I removed the cover from the base. I checked manuals maintenance etc etc and do not find where this part belongs. Did someone out there knows where he's going?

Click here to see 3 photos of the component: https://picasaweb.google.com/svrochowl/T60PartPhotos?authkey=Gv1sRgCPiD04n3-a2W_QE#55677392916159601...

    Thanks for your help!

After watching a T60 assembled it turns out that the component belonged in the small rectangular hole in the law of battery in the connector of the battery compartment. It should be placed under the motherboard before you mount it. I can't understand frankly not what the hole, but there are obviously some explanations. The component had no effect on performance.

I would say to contact the service, if your machine is under warranty until now.

You should mention it that you made a picture.

  • Recovering files of the T60 with a broken winXP installation

Hello everyone, I'm saving the files from one especially deceased ThinkPad T60 Window XP. The T60 has a fingerprint reader, and I was crazy enough to put files in a secure volume.

When I start Windows, it gets as far as the start screen and crashes then it with bike constantly the progress bar. I created a set of rescue & Recovery CD (actually two games, a serious on CD and a serious DVD) when I initially bought the laptop, but they do not contain the files I want to retrieve (that were created at a later date). When I try to run R & R starting at a set of disks, R & R software will open to the main screen, but in a few seconds (or at most a minute, but in no way I am able to actually use the diagnostic/recovery tools effectively) the system freezes up tight and will not even for CTRL-ALT-DELETE.

I also tried to remove the SATA HDD and put it in an external USB box. The disc is recognized when it is connected to another computer, but I can't access the files because they are locked inside this secure volume.

Finally, I also tried to start with a standard XP installation CD to see if running a chkdsk /r (after you select the repair option on the first screen) would help and get past the XP splash screen. Unfortunately, after loading all the drivers, etc., the recovery console Windows XP says it can't find all the disks to repair. I guess that's because there is no such thing as the secure volume for what is an OEM XP disk is.

I guess I could try something with a Linux LiveCD or something, but because the files I want are locked inside a secure volume I don't know who's going to make me still to come.

I have the administrative password WinXP wrote down, so if there is there a tool that will allow me to open my files using this password, I'm in good shape.

Any ideas? I really want to recover these files. I don't like about installing XP itself, and in fact I intend to format the HARD drive and install OpenSuse as soon as I brought back my files.

I managed to recover my files.

I booted into Windows and press F8 to bring up the Safe Mode option (I thought I had already tried this before, but I guess I've forgotten). I had hoped once in Mode safe, I'd be able to pull the files off the SecureDrive.vol (mapped to drive R :), but I guess there are some drivers or services that don't load in Mode safe so that windows does not even see the a: drive at all.)

But I was able to run a chkdsk/r, which took place during the next reboot. It took two tries to it (chkdsk froze the machine on the first run through), but chkdsk found and fixed a lot of errors and I was able to connect to Windows XP. I pulled all my files on a USB key, and literally within 30 seconds the system frozen solid again.

Running the diagnostics of a Lenovo PC Doctor bootable CD, I discovered this fujitsu 100 GB drive is riddled with errors. So I might try some kind of low-level format to try to clean it up before installing a new copy of OpenSuse 11.2. Any recommendations for rehabilitation and repair in shape this drive?

  • T60 / T61 / hard T61W compatible cross-training?

    Hi guys:

I have a question about hard T60 and T61 discs.

I work for a company where we are gradually T60 laptop computers for the new T410.

Are we able to use T60 stock hard drives in laptops T61 and T61 (widescreen) if we were to rebuild their image for Windows 7?

In my view, that we use the 80.0 GB HDD T60 version.

I also wanted to know if it is backward compatible (if we need older drivers during the upgrade of the OS)-that is, a disk hard T61 or T61W, working in a T60.

I believe that all hard disks that came with laptop computers, when we bought were the stock 80.0 GB... but would be still the 60.0 GB 5400 RPM (or 7200, I completely forgot that we use) in a book in a T61 so T60 we were to reformat and install Windows 7 top?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you!

I have just been informed that the tension (or was it amps, I forgot) is different for a T60 and a T61 stock hard drive.

If this is true (which seems very likely to be), how will this affect performance / use?

Is there a way to increase the voltage on a hard drive because of the different models?

How will this affect usability be?

They use the same type of hard drive, the drive SATA itself may be exchanged between T60 T61, T400/T500, T410/T510.

  • Lenovo T60 video card problem

I have a T60 with 3 GB of Ram under Windows 7 (32 bit) when the bike a video (on or off-line) the display freezes or the pace slows to a crawl, in this case all the minutes. I also encounter the same problem when you play a game on the machine.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Thanks, but I solved the problem. It seems that the CPU was faulty, I replaced it with a CPU of a Fijitsu Siemens Lifebook and it works perfectly now.

  • Cannot open password tab to set a supervisor password in the Security menu of BIOS. BIOS freezes

A few days ago, I bought a Thinkpad T60. Everything is fully functional except for a problem with the BIOS password. It seems that there is no password defined previously as I can the entrance, the BIOS menu and put all the specific entries without any problem. However when I come to put a password in the BIOS, the BIOS suddenly freezes. Can - as someone knows what could be the reason for this? Is there a solution how to fix? Thank you

Also just to clarify, flashing a bios chip not to change the password or delete it, but if the chip is reburnned, which is often done during refurbishment a Council the data of all the chip is replaced. I don't know if this is possible or not, but given that the system has been 'hacked', you know, it is possible that someone reburned unduly bad data on the chip doing the supervisor password option non-operational. If (and I don't stress the 'if') that's the problem, then you can get it repaired. This type of repair is often necessary if a bios flash is interrupted and the system becomes unusable and costs usually $ 100 to $200.

Your best option might be to just use the system for what it is, or just replace the motherboard and do with it.

    Good luck

  • CS3 - video freezes on the Capture and playback - please help!

    Hi all

    Here's the problem:

When plans to capture via firewire Mini DV, shot in DV standard, within a standard NTSC DV Widescreen 48 k project, the picture freezes after 1 second.  You can still hear the audio and images actually get caught.  However, after the sequence has been met, and load us the clip in the Source window and press play, the video freezes after 1 second game again.  Once again, the sound continues to play and you can move the cursor anywhere on the clip and see that all the images are there, but as soon as you play from any point - the same thing, the picture freezes after 1 second of game, which makes editing impossible.  The clip is captured as a .avi and all acquisition settings appear to be correct.

    Here are the best:

-HDV video captures and plays back.

-DV videos entered correctly at the beginning, this has been a recent problem going on now for several weeks, after no change in the system.

-The biggest kicker - after trying successfully capture, playback and video editing, we closed first, has reopened, has tried to play the previously captured DV sequences and he plays very well suddenly in HDV !  Then we closed the program, reopened and tried again - back to the gel problem and he never played back fine still...

Here's the specs (I can give more details later if necessary, it's computer of my partner):

Sony PD-150 DV - Cam (but record on Mini DV in mode standard DV, DV - Cam no)

    Windows 7

    Intel Core i7 3,20 ghz

Asus X 58 motherboard with onboard Audio and Firewire

    6 GB of Ram

NVIDIA Geforce 9 Series with PhysX

Please help if you have an idea how to solve a problem crazy like that.  Thank you!!!

    Greg

you have windows updates turned on? Sometimes the updates can mess things up. turn off if its on.

try to disable physx and see if that helps... you don't have that with the exception of the games.

try to activate hardware acceleration a notch... see if that helps.

the graphics card is overclockee? If so, go back to normal speed.

Defragment your hard drives, including the pagefile - get rid of something not necessary on your drive (s) to give you as much free space as possible (before defragmentation)

Update your video adapter driver to the latest version. something might have messed up the driver...

  • DV PAL Widescreen issue export Bitmap 16:9

I searched this issue past issues, but unfortunately last questions did not a definitive answer or a viable solution in my case.

    I have a project turned to the DV PAL on a Sony HVR - Z5E format. My sequence settings are: 720 x 576 DV1 / DV PAL 16:9 (1.4587). Captured video is showing only 720 x 576 (1.4587) AVI 25 fps.

I create a freeze frame by exporting it to Windows Bitmap sequence. I put Media export as PAL DV screen aspect 16:9 wide (1.4587) - the same as the source parameter. In output/output of the source monitor looks identical. It seems that I export properly - I can only assume.

But after export, the bitmap image looks like 4:3 with pressed sides. Back in the sequence import confirms this: it is 720 x 576 (1,094). I exported using both Widescreen and programming of square pixels, all produce two aspects of 4:3.

Why SOUL does not export in the correct aspect depending on the parameters? Why it maintains a 4:3 aspect? How can I successfully export to Bitmap and keep the existing 16:9 and bring in my project?

Additional: I do not need my export through any other software, just to capture the still image and import it into the project.

I just tested your workflow (even if I use DV NTSC) and I can confirm what you see. As far as I know, bitmaps are only able to square that contains pixels, then the square of the output image pixel dimensions what dimensions of the image allows you to export (in your case, 720 x 576) becomes. It is not a big problem, however: with the right button of your imported image, simply select "Film" and change the RAILWAY in accordance with the big screen BY.

Also use TIFF which will respect the setting by export.

  • Mail (version 9.3) frequently freezes, requires a reboot.

Mail under El Capitan (10.11.6) freezes frequently. Rebuild my Inbox, sent messages, Junk, etc was not rectified the problem. Seems arbitrary? Anyone else having this problem? All possible solutions to this?

Make a backup, preferably 2 on 2 separate drives.

    Exit the Mail.

Go to Finder and select your user folder. With this Finder window as the windshield, select Finder/display/display options for presenting or order - J.  When the display options opens, check "show the library folder. This should make your visible user library folder in your user folder. Go to Library/Containers/com.apple.mail.  Move the folder com.apple.mail on your desktop. You must move the entire folder, not just the content.

Reboot, re-launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, recreate the required e-mail settings and import emails you want to save to the folder on the desktop. You can then put the file in the trash. If the problem persists, return the folder where you have guessed replacing one that is there.

  • Freezes and restarts on 2015 5K running El Capitan iMac and am ready to freak me out

    Hi guys,.

If I posted my check and reports being panic, could someone tell me what caused random freezes and restarts on my iMac 5 K - ish, El Capitan running? I am a designer/Retoucher and I am in the middle of a big job, of course.

He went on and off for a few months. I have cleared my startup disk and played fresh OS installs (didn't even use Migration Assistant just to be safe), three times. I installed apps one at a time try to refine what is the cause but could not.

At first I thought it was my mouse Logitech G502 because when I went to an old mouse for a few weeks the problem has disappeared. But yesterday, listening to iTunes via Airplay and working in InDesign, the system froze again.

I wonder if she might be SoftRAID(4) and/or my two RAIDs of 4 external ThunderBay?

    Thanks in advance!
