T61 7659-ac5 refuses to power on

Hello

This is my first time to post in this forum. I bought a used t61 7659-ac5, I got it without a sata drive. Experienced on linux mint for now all looking for a decent used sata drive. Ran memory tests and downloaded updates, downloaded games to take the time and trouble on linux. honestly, it was a unique and enjoyable experience using Mint. the other day I started, thinkpad screen is appeared, but after a while, I see no more linux desktop... the screen is empty. power remained. then I tried to power cycle it.

light in order

1 batt / AC

2 batt / AC

3 capslock / numlock / power

4... then nothing...

everytime I push the power button these lights on nothing... no thinkpad splash screen.

tried the second lifting 30 - no luck.

tried to remove all the accessories, card wifi-bluetooth-dvd player - nothing

tried to remove 1 dimm, tried to rotate it even... nothing

but when 2 DIMM removed: the two indicators of power/batt lights then = beep, 3 beeps, 3 beeps, beeps then more nothing... power/batt stays always on!

any ideas or suggestions?

my intel GPU is at fault? are both my favorite DIMM?

Thanks in advance

Mike

for reference:

Hi guys... I do not know you are doing the thing. the thing is still alive! have ran memtest at least 6 passes - without error. fan swirls as it should.

"My methods seem unorthodox, but I think it's the beginning of the operation of a"franken-Pad"!

1 removed the black plastic to every part of the motherboard... including the GPU intel. I know it is anti-static protection, but since we live in Manila where the moisture is very abundant, stray static is not really a problem. while removing the black plastic, I discovered a lot of particles, like a person adding the seasoning of a dish... and a lot of it in some places. I was able to deduce that the previous love eating snacks.

2. carefully brushed all parties that the eye can see. hope that I haven't missed an important area.

3. some inductor soldering looked Brown and crusty. so with a little help from one with a soldering iron and solder the fuse (and Brazing Paste) to remove and appy new welding at the questionable joints. It is not a pretty thing to look at from the point of view of the engineer a process but I did my best to weld it decently.

4. the reassembly. the thing has not worked in the first round. the pump PATA and hold for 30-seconds finally brought alive.

Thank you guys for the ideas and methods of troubleshooting! Hopefully this one will not anytime soon through rough seas.

Tuus, where this one goes, I'll seek help of a replacement system card... If the budget allows.

Thank you all!

I questioned myself. My conclusion is the $50 I paid for mine back in 2008 was more then the advantage he gave me, but you can buy much cheaper chips now, so if you are on vista or seven with a disk sata hard, then it will provide improved performance, as a reduction of the reads/writes to disk, extending its life. Which of course is not something you can see or feel in daily use.

I use the turbo memory in my system with the exception of a couple that I have installed SSD drives.

  • PowerEdge 2950 Gen I refuse to power.

I have a PE 2950 who for some reason, stop randomly during the day. Since that day I could not start it. Plug on our server into multiple sockets throughout the House. The server shows signs of power on the motherboard and LCD, however, when the button is pressed. For a second or two, the server sounds like its on then stops immediately and the LCD screen displays "E122C".  I looked at the forums and found nothing that helps solve this problem. We thought that the NVRAM can have need of compensation, but that does not make us good. Anyone know what could be the problem and how to fix it?

If none of this works, you need to replace the motherboard or processor (s).

  • Acer cannot turn on after install Win10 - get 5 flashes on the power button - nothing happens.

Last week I have installed Win 10 to my Acer laptop 4830 t. rebooted several times and things seem to be ok. I tried playing a CD and got an error message about its incompatibility. Before I could upgrade to the drivers, the system entered hibernation mode and now don't restore or restart at all. I just get 5 flashes on the power button and nothing else. Yes, I've tried holding the power button until 2 minutes. I can't start or get any diagnosis since the system refuses to power on. I tried removing the battery but the battery is integrated and inaccessbile so I can't disconnect it without removing the motherboard to disconnect the connector of the dough. No possibility to boot on USB or CD/DVD car will not be powered. Technical support said they cannot help me if I can't remove the battery (uselessness is which?!).  Apparently they have not suport scripts that relate to the actual products because it is a classic process for much older laptops.  I am an expert IT guy and has more than 20 portable and built a lot of my own computers.  I wonder if anyone has experienced this problem or has any helpful suggestions... • T61 upgrade issues with T9300 cpu

    Hi all

    I have a T61 (7659) with a T7300 cpu and m/b No. 41W1487. Can I switch to a T9300 processor, using a connected bios?

I tried once, but the computer is unstable. I suspect the second-hand T9300, I received is damaged.

All m/bs Merom can * unofficially * accept the Penryn processors, with the exception of the BIOS boot message?

    Thank you very much.

    Welcome to the forum!

I have installed T9300/9500 processors tips T61 with modded BIOS and have never encountered a problem. YMMV.

Your likely culprit is the CPU.

    Good luck.

  • Bug to stop random, DIFFERENT from the power switch question

I found a problem that I have yet to isolate the cause of the, but his is happened a few times now.  Sometimes, when my Sansa has updated its database and has not played a song at the moment, if I change the settings and then try to play a song, it starts to play, then cut completely.  It doesn't happen often, but these are the circumstances each time.  The player will not respond and will refuse to power on.  The only way to get on is to hold the power switch until the device resets, release, and then power it turned on, which of course means another data refresh.  Once this is done, my settings are all back to where they were before the last change, I can change their return, and everything works fine.  As I said, the problem don't occur often, only about 3 times since I've had (since June), but its still an obvious problem.  If someone wants to know more about it, or want me to try a few things, let me know.  I'm mainly just let Sandisk people know, then maybe we can get this in a future firmware update.

New firmware is in the release process now, so hang on until release us the next version.  It can help about this.  Should be within 1-2 weeks.

  • Sudden power problem

(I searched the forums for a couple of hours, without success, before posting)

I have a T61p which worked great for a few years.  All of a sudden yesterday, he refused to power upward: a boot cold goes like this: to begin with, only the power plug and battery lights is on.  When I press the power button, the light of Z-with-a-circle and the caps lock and caps lock Num-buttons flash (with a soft click), and then, with another low click, the lights of locking caps and caps lock Num-fade - and nothing else.

I took out the battery, unplugged the power cord, drained the laptop by pressing the power button and plugged the cord in - same result (except the battery light is not, of course).  Today, handing the in fact only the battery orange flash light, making me think it battery is not, either.

I'm deeply watered?  Must I now begin to ask questions about how to recover my data from the hard drive for my laptop soon-to-be-newly purchased?

This is compatible with the nVidia GPU failure. If your laptop production date is before 2008/08/08 (August), then he has a graphics processor which tend to fail more often then normal. If this is the case, you need to replace your motherboard. In this case, there are many options and here are several good discussions in the forum on this subject and the options to solve the problem, just be careful because there are many tips that have been poorly repaired offered for sale. It would be a trivial question to get your system to boot, but it would increase again in minutes, days, weeks, each time only.

I suggest you do some reading and if there is anything I can do to help, let me know.

I have a Thinkpad T61 (7659 AZ1), the battery damaged and I want to know if it may be a battery of a T60 (40Y6797). Please can someone inform me, thank you.

If your T61 is a screen 15.4 inch widescreen or 14.1 inches standard then yes it will fit.

Unfortunately, your model is 14.1 inch wide screen, is not compatible with the T60 battery, you can get 4, 6, 7 and 9 cells for your model.

  • Power Manager profiles 1.52 error (add)

    Hello

about a week I have been faced with a problem with the Power Manager (after that I tried the last updated - wait until May)

I can't add or set any profile.

I found a few solutions here: http://chris.brandlehner.at/Brandlehner/cab_blog.nsf/d6plinks/CBRR-6YWBNV but it has not worked for me.

    1. Go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg\PowerPolicies] and delete all dublicated policies. Leaving you with few windows standart policies and few policies created by the Power Manager. Numbers should start from 0.

I deleted all of the strategies

    2. Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Controls Folder\PowerCfg\PowerPolicies] and do the same thing there.

Here too and then I killed "rundll32.exe" process, then I ran Power Manager-> it adds default profiles to the registry.

    I renamed (0, 1, 2, 3...)

    2. Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Controls Folder\PowerCfg] and set LastID key to the number of the last policy.

    I put the lastID

    But it still doesn't work.

After reboot, I have many other profiles (mostly "empty" or duplicated) in the registry.

I tried to downgrade Power Manager too, but it didn't work.

Maybe there is a problem because I deleted the strategies default system can too, so someone sent me its exported registry keys in:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Controls Folder\PowerCfg

    and

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg\PowerPolicies

    Thank you very much.

I hope that Lenovo will soon release some fix.

Moderator Note: version number added to the line object for clarity.

    Hello
    Thanks for the reply.
ThinkPad T61, MS Windows XP Pro, Power manager version 1.52

But I have already found a solution.
I deleted all the registry values of:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Controls Folder\PowerCfg

    and

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg\PowerPolicies

then I restored the default registry keys in these places. I'm bringing work of the WinXP installation from one of my friends.

I guess it can be restored registry of image (VmWare etc.) Virtual PC too.

  • T61 - Blue-tooth device disappeared

    Hello

I have a T61 (7659-A96) and the blue-tooth device was available a few months ago.
Because I use to connect other devices using BT, I don't know exactly when the availability of device came to an end.

Now, I can not find the device. The BIOS Setup is not not present BT on/off function. BIOS version is LENOVO 7LETB9WW (2.19) 06/06/2008.

I don't know if this model has an independent BT card or if it is integrated motherboard.

    Thanks in advance.

    Expedito

    I found the solution.

I was expecting to find a Bluetooth on/off function in the 'Network' of the BIOS Setup screen.

But the Bluetooth is disabled in the PORTS of CONFIG/SECURITY/IO configuration of the BIOS.

After I change to "activate" the Bluetooth works great.

    Kind regards.

  • Inspiron 1521 lights (finishing post) AC or battery power.

I realize my Dell Inspiron1521 is several years old, but I like it. Recently, he refused to power upward.  When you connect the adapter sector/charger, the blue power led light flashes once and turns off. If you press the power button, you can hear the hard drive starts to turn upward, however in a few seconds in farm back down, obviously to default startup diagnostics (post). The display never gets the chance to light up.  I tried methods all the recommended to try to make it work, including the purchase of a new sector/charger adapter.  I tried the Fn button on tour, but the same thing happens. I just disassembled and tried to start by opening up and noticed the cpu cooling fan doesn't come on. This could possibly be the problem?  And if so, how can I order a new one?

    Hello

Honestly, I don't know the answer to these questions.  I think that technical support would distribute the motherboard together as a spare part in this issue.  If you can replace the BIOS chip or not, I'm not even sure that you can acquire one without acquiring the motherboard together.   And I begin to guess the cost.  I deal with support issues and I have no visibility to the price of the parts.

You can check the Dell spare parts and, I think, get a quote on a price. Since the system is more than 5 years, I don't know who they're wearing parts for him more.  If this isn't the case, you can check ebay or other online computer parts suppliers.

Sorry, I couldn't be more helpful and better define what part is causing problems.

  • iPhone 7 doesn't work...

After restoring a backup, my iPhone 7 overheated and then would not power on. I was wondering if anyone else had problems eating or switching on of their 7?

After receiving my black Jet iPhone 7 mailed, I turned and followed the instructions on the screen to activate and restore from a backup on iTunes. 40 minutes later (my previous iPhone was a full 64 GB), the restore is complete, and that I unlocked the phone to find most of my 100 + apps have dimmed and not download. iTunes has shown my complete restoration. I tried to sync the phone and nothing has changed. I noticed that my pictures were disorganized as well. Thinking that something went wrong while I wasn't looking, I decided to do the restore once more. The same exact results and no change. All the time my iPhone 7 had been on the table, I used it. I picked up the phone and felt that it was VERY hot. It comes to my iPhone 4, and it's been hot. I thought I might have a situation of battery "samsung" on my hands, then I hit eject the iPhone on iTunes and unplugged 7. At that moment, I realized that the battery percentage has dropped 30% of then I first connected on my mac. I know that my power cord and mac worked, because I had just used to load and save my iPhone 6 successfully.

Soon, the iPhone 7 has given the "iPhone needs to cool until you can use it. I quickly placed under a fan and kept a safe distance from myself... After 10 minutes, I came back to the phone and it was usable, but still hot. Noticed applications were still gray, and the battery percentage fell even more.

I noticed that the 7 wasn't 10.0.0, while the backup was coming from an iPhone 6 with 10.0.1. Unfortunately, the wifi I used was too slow to immediately update the iPhone 7 to 10.0.1. Feeling frustrated and helpless at 11 pm, I decided to call it a night. I had clicked download only on iTunes earlier, but he had about 4 hours download the 10.0.1 update. Without the phone connected to anything, I turned my iPhone off 7.

The next morning I eagerly woke up to fix my phone, but to my horror, he refused to power on.

An even longer story short, I have tried different methods, talked to Apple Support online and then to the Apple Store. There are lines to buy the iPhone 7 and all the reserves have been reserved, but I was still able to take a walk in the genius bar appointment. In the end, they could not either power on my iPhone and the tests, they ran gave no immediate response. I'm now waiting for the store to call me when they have a replacement, Jet Black is not easy to get...

If all goes well they will soon have one for me! A when they do I'll do the restore with me!

Someone had problems like that? Found a few tweets "iPhone 7 lights" on twitter.

    Things, I am wary of:

    1. my iPhone 6 back came up to 10.0.1, while my iPhone iOS 7 functioned iOS 10.0.0. This could cause a restore without success?

    2. my iPhone 7 has a bad battery that caused heat, discharge and ultimate disappearance.

Your thought #1 seems very logical.  However, I went through the same process with success: I got an iPhone 6s running iOS 10.0.1 I restored a 7 10 iPhone running IOS.  Then, I was able to update the iPhone 7 iOS 10.0.1.

If I have not personally experienced this, I would have thought that your suspicions #1 was on the money.

If you still have the iPhone in your possession, I highly recommend a reset.  On the iPhone 7, because of the new taptic the home button, you reset the power and volume buttons together for 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.

There are 5 blue lights to low forehead, which shows power light, on early light shows on, lightweight battery, the next lightight showson flickers and then dies, and the last for the internet access, of course, does not illuminate. In addition, on the right side of the machine, there are a yellow/orange light port DVD projection on, when I press the Start button, but the port will not open, so I don't know if there is a disc inside.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance.

    And what now?
I put t understand what kind of help do you expect now.

You don't see anything on the screen after turning on the laptop or not?
If you want to see if there are drive inside you can manually open optical drive. Normally, there is a small hole under the disc tray. You can insert a paper clip or something similar into this hole and manually open the drive tray.
