T61 broken frame/hinge

Hi all

I searched the forum for the info, but had no luck.  My apologies if this has already been answered.

I was wondering if I have the latest post (08/08)? MoBo in my T61, don't know how to find out by using the serial number.

starts, LCD is always white, I'm in the area so no VGA cable to confirm the operation, but was working before hinge/frame off taken... story below if you need more information...

I am a true IBM / Lenovo fan, grew up in the shadow of Poughkeepsie... Currently, typing this post on a R51 I picked up for $200 in silicon valley.

My problem is with my beloved T61. A hard life has made it's magnesium internal frame broke. He had a hinge/framework sloppy for about 18 months and finally let go. I just he returned to North Carolina, (have extended warranty), hoping that someone he will have pity on me and say it's fixable.

Not sure if the framework is covered by the warranty, but paid enough for it security, so hoping for the best. If this isn't the case, I really don't want to take his retirement this machine and I'm ready to shop for a frame of e - bay IF the motherboard is a newer version...

Thanks for any help!

John "selectric" (if you have to ask, you're too young!)

About the map system, there is no way to tell by looking at, part numbers, or any other method if it's the gpu revised or not. The ONLY conclusive way is by the number of unit series/date code. 08/08 or later version is good, prior is uncertain. You can made a guess by looking at the date of the GPU, but I came to the conclusing that the gpu of old design and the new were produced at the same time, perhaps in different factories, or production lines, so the date of the single chip is not conclusive.

If you need a new framework for your system, I have a couple and that he would be open to trades and trade... send me a PM if you want.

    @Albert5

The question of the hinge on the Evny of HP is well known to HP, and yet they refuse to do much, if anything, to this subject.  If you are in warranty, they will typically set for free, no questions asked.  Out of warranty, however, it's like a completely different society.  They will be responsible of very varying amounts, from $130 to $300 to fix their own design flaw.   Here is a link to a long thread that I started to update others on the issue and my relationship with HP:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-hardware/defective-hinges-on-HP-laptops-envy/m-p/5378336#M204440

We hope that you will find useful information.  As further evidence that HP is aware of their own design flaw, the new 17 "want to have a case completely redesigned with a much better hinge.

    Good luck!

  • G6-2342dx Pavilion: Pavilion G6 broken left hinge and not display

Hello! I have a off-warranty book Pavilion g6-2342dx, which also has a broken left hinge. 2 days ago the display stop working. The system starts normally, but no display.

I have attached a HP s2031 monitor via the secondary monitor output cable and the notebook seems to work as it should.

As is the left hinge is broken, could the connection of display power came in bulk / cancelled? I don't really want to tear into it without some prior advice...

The warranty has expired may 3, 2014, but I noticed that many other people have experienced a problem with this hinge. Is it possible that HP can "Troubleshoot", and perhaps "extend" the warranty for the same problem?  You can give advice or advice will be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you

As an addendum to this post...

I received a phone call from an AMS TC escalations team case manager. He has very kindly let me know that HP would solve this problem for me! Yesterday morning I received a HP shipping container and sent the unit to their repair center.

THANK YOU ALL, here and ch; for a solution very Satisying to this dilemma. Once again, my loyalty faith and H.P. product has been reviewed.

    Cheers, all!

  • Widescreen - torn R61i cable under the broken right hinge

    Hey everybody,

I recently bought a used R61i which has been described as having only a right hinge broken. - However, the EC, I noticed a black ripped/broken cable protruding under/the broken right hinge all about.

I searched through many many sons of "broken hinge" on various forums, but no one ever mentions this black cable near the right hinge as far as I can tell. He is always on the left hinge antenna cables. I have also looked at the manual but cannot know what is function of this cable (a). I think it has something to do with the screen, but:

The laptop seems to work very well; I installed Windows XP and there is no problem with the screen (outside of not being able to set a higher resolution, but I think this comes from a graphic/Monitor driver problem).

Can someone tell me what is this black cable and what problems it might cause (in the future)? Should I replace it - is replaceable? I'll be replacing the hinge and clean fan anyway, so have to disassemble the laptop anyway.

Here are some photos to show you the black cable and its location:

    Thanks in advance!

The black wire is the wire aerial (secondary) to the wireless LAN. The gray wire on the left side is the main. You can get a poorer Black wireless reception. To replace it, you must remove and disassemble the lid/LCD

  • Broken left hinge and base separating

Computer hp laptop g6-2016tx paviliong, I bought in 2012 and with an additional year warranty, the warranty expired in 2014-August/sepetember

recently, I observed that the left hinge and coverage of basic connection of the laptop is broken and get separated, when I searched on the net that this is a problem occurring most for hp pavilion g6/dv6/desire/probooks if I would have known this problem well before you buy it, that I would have stayed away from hp, I used dell laptop , who is first-rate in quality of construction compared to this cheap glossy plastic, I paid 45 k inr for this thing that looks like serious construction cheap,.

When the problem occurs repeatedly in many of your laptop models who also have the same problem, why hp did not do anythign like replacement/fixing such things in for free even if the warranty has expired, because seriously, it's a defect in design manufacturing/assembly line, is a sure iam mechanical engineer on this subject be of a LARGER company with good reputation, you should have addressed this question before, check or google, you will know about this problem with your notebooks hp in particular, broken left hinge everyone complains about the same, but there is no official announcement on your side of hp,

I decided to stay away from HP next time, thank God I thought to buy hp series of water courses that I am saved me!

    Goodbye hp

Thanks to JeffHelp, Mr.ABG Tilak (hp authorized service), Mr. Biraja Prasad Bidhar(Case Manager, Indian customer relations) and Mr.kevin - t (Moderator-support forums) to help me and get the replacement of the broken base cover

  • Y560 broken screen hinge

Happened yesterday. I always knew that the case itself was a little weak, but honestly, I wasn't expecting this after 1.5 years of normal use. I move not even the laptop around so much...

If ye, the hinge of the screen on the left side is now broken in half, so some of it is still in and the screen is in place (more or less), but Im worried about how long and that that could be the consequences if I start to move around, or if it comes off completely.

I called local support, they want to take my laptop for 2 weeks replace which is simply unacceptable because of my work and the final uni and honestly, it's just a hinge, how long can it take...

Does anyone have a similar experience? How did you solve this problem? I know my way around a computer, so it shouldn't be too difficult to do so myself, but what should I look for?

    Thank you for your time!

  • How can I fix a broken screen hinge?

    Hello

I recently saw that the hinge of the corner of my screen opened. It looks like this

More I close, more it opens.

I was wondering what can I use to help it stay closed?

It looks not to the metal is broken, but the plastic piece is just open.

I was going to use super glue or glue Gorilla, but he answers on the web, a few said that it wouldn't be good.

I have a HP Pavilion laptop of m6, and I don't have a warranty. It's been two years that I got this computer, and I was also wondering if it would be too late to get the warranty on that? I always get a pop up on my computer to get the package of care and while I looked it up, it looks great, but I don't know if it would be for my cell phone and if he can help me with this problem.

Any help would be good. Thank you!

    Hi @tsab12 ,

I sent you deliver to be wound and check your private message when an HP employee reaches out for you.

  • Import of images - not illustrated - only broken fram icon problem

    Hi guys

Im trying to import illustrations in livecycle - im images in illustrator and export as BMP images.

When I try to import into my livecycle form (create the frame of the image, select BMP in office) all I get is a grey icon broken chassis.

I see that BMP is a supported image file type, so an ideas of what is happening well wrung out here?

ID be grateful for pointers (once again... Thanks guys) as im hoping to create most of my topics or game type in illustrator, it slams into forms such as images - so if anyone knows what's wrong - could point me to a decent tut etc it would be greatly appreciated.

Im hoping this is just being dumb.

also, while asking im - vector art can be introduced in livecycle? -I did not see that he supported - guess you could be at the size to agree and then export as bitmap? but then I would get gray sampling error

    Help...

    see you soon

example (randomly) attached BMP does not

I will not be able to use your image either.

If I convert it to another format (ex: jpg) it works fine. If I open and save again (save in bmp format) it works fine, but your image will not work.

The only difference between your orinal bmp and mine is the color depth. Yours is 65K mine is 16. 7 m, but I see no difference.

Anyway, the image is in the attached files section.

According to the vector information, discover 3D 8.2 components and versions of livecycle, maybe they will do what you want.

  • Satellite T110-121 - broken the hinge/bracket

Anyone know the part number of a set of display/hinge for the T110-121 media?

Mine broke last week and I can't seem to buy a replacement or a suitable alternative.
    Thanks in advance.

EH... it is not easy to get this information, but, in my opinion, you don't need it. all Satellite T110 have the same hinges and there is no difference.
Different can be only the motherboard and some other hardware components like Ram LAN wireless card, HARD drive and so on.

Basics like hinges are the same. I don't know where you live but try to use Google for your country and check if you can find the hinge Set support or laptop computer Toshiba Satellite T110 hinges.

Also, check eBay for your country.

  • Broken left hinge on Satellite Pro A40 - need part number

Can anyone help? I broke the left hinge on my A40. I can't find anywhere to get a replacement and I don't know where I can find the part No. so I don't know, I get the right one.

Does anyone not know the part. and where I can buy a hinge?

    Hello

Replacing display hinges is not easy and kinda hard you must remove the entire screen, and I imagine that someone without experience could damage parts during disassembly procedure.
I recommend you contact the ASP for details and help.
The authorized service partner can also order the right and new hinges for this laptop directly from the head of Toshiba warehouse.

    Good luck and best regards

  • Satellite L50-B-1LN - broken screen hinge

    Hi all

November last year they gave me a L50 B 1LN Satellite to the DSO at my University to help dyslexia as I had never really owned a decent laptop.

Since then, I have the Treaty with great care, so you can imagine that I was not too happy when the right hinge connecting the screen and the body became stiff a few weeks ago.

At the point where I do not think that anything of it think it is would have something taken there will be evicted over time.
This was not the case, however, I discovered a few days back, part of the inner metal structure of the screen had been bending broke now and is now coming out behind the screen, as the force to break has removed some of the envelope made of plastic.

The laptop is less than a year so I'm disappointed that equipment broke in a way, it is designed to be opened and closed! The wire on the screen is now exposed, so I want this to be resolved sooner rather than later.
Apart from this, the laptop is fully functional and in good condition.

Since then, I tried to find an appropriate on the Toshiba site number but had no success, I can't turn in circles, and I'm not really sure of what to do next.

My provider is not any string like world of Curry or PC, so I can't exactly take it there.

Any advice on how to go on this matter would be appreciated.

I have attached some pictures of the damage.

    Thank you

    Cameron

Since then, I tried to find an appropriate on the Toshiba site number but had no success, I can't turn in circles, and I'm not really sure of what to do next.

In the event of hardware problems, the authorized Toshiba maintainer in your country would be the next point of contact.
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/generic/ASP_SUPPORT/

.. .and I agree with you: the lid of the laptop is designed to be opened and closed and it should work properly...

So I hope that the ASP would be able to solve this problem
