Table of contents: not positioned wrong page numbers

When I create my "list of Figures" (A Table of contents item type) I get ugly results such as (p83 and p84):

and (p105)

There is not always a dashed line and page numbers are not always end on the right. Is there a way I can influence it?

I found a solution, less elegant, but it seemed to work in my little test. Add a GREP style to your paragraph to add a character without pause style tab and the number. (This corrects the independent left-aligned numbers).

Then do a search and repalce to add a space before the tabs. The result is far from ideal, because it leaves a space between the text and the leader, but it seems to solve the problems of end of line too tight.

  • I am trying to print PDFS from Safari, but can not see the page numbers

    I just opened a document PDF 700 + pages in Safari and need to print the odd pages and there, but I can't see the page numbers displayed when I scroll the document. When I view the same document on an iPad, the page numbers change when I scroll but on my iMac (with the help of Safari 10) they appear not at all - and 700 + pages is a lot to go wrong! The clues how I can spend on 'display the page number?

    The default Apple PDF Internet plug-in used by Safari does not display the page numbers (except if they are in the footer of the PDF document in question), and there is no setting in Safari preferences to turn on this feature. Your best bet is to download the PDF file, then open it in preview or Acrobat Reader, where the thumbnails will be the correlation to page numbers. Then you can select several arbitrary thumbnails using the control button to print those selected pages. In the Pages section of the print Panel, you select "Selected Pages in the sidebar".

    The PDF Internet plug-in installed by Adobe Acrobat Reader or Pro displays the page current and total page in its turnaround Panel. If there are page numbers in the footer of the PDF file accessed, they are not deleted. You must enable Internet Adobe plug-in to Safari preferences: Security Panel.

  • Table of contents flowing to multiple pages

    Is there a way to get the table of contents flowing to several pages on the fly?

    I have a project where the Table of contents will be certainly several pages, but the content will be different per pound, so I don't know how many pages the TOC will be until the work is set up at the end.  Since the merger is done programmatically, the best thing would be to set up the FAKE text object if flow dynamically as he had a variable in it, but since it doesn't have a normal variable, the possibility to sell the document does not appear.  For any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

  • Is it possible to add a table of contents with a URL Page "link to" which opens in a separate browser window or tab?

    Using the Properties window for the Table of contents, the general tab Page, I can specify a web address for the link to the field.  If I click on this page table of contents after the project is compiled, the URL is displayed in the topic of the current pane.  Is there a way to open the URL in a separate browser window or tab instead of in the topic of the project pane?  Thank you!

    I think the answer is to revisit properties!

  • Table of contents, separating the positions and Page numbers

    Hello

    I work with a table of contents in InDesign CC. Some of the titles that appear in the table will be very long and the next line. I want to wrap up before it hits the right hanging tab so that there is a visual separation between the page numbers and text. I understand that I can do it manually, but I want to do it consistently because it is a model for a large number of documents.

    Here's what I want it to look, the important thing is that the long position:

    1. regular position... 5

    1.1 regular subheading... 6

    2. long title that I hope

    a smart person would reduce

    down anyway............................................................ 8

    As opposed to:

    1.      Regular Heading...................................................... 5

    1.1 regular subheading... 6

    2. long title this person smart hopefullya would be

    cut down anyway..................................................... 8

    Any ideas? Is it possible to have an active table of content in a table? Or maybe something else? Expand on a second column?

    Well, looks like you know how to a negative indent on the left margin; you know, apply a few dash to the left margin, then some Indent first line. Look carefully at your dash controls in your toolbar: apply some indent right margin, then a few negative withdrawal of last line, and you can get your table of contents behaves exactly as you wish.

    I can take a few screenshots for you later if my description is not obvious.

    I am using MS word 2010 to create the model (*.rtf file).

    The report displays the details of all the products used by the customer. Report 1 product per page. All products have the same model.

    What I want is to create an Index page, which displays the product name and the page number of the report in which it is generated.

    For example. Client Papa Johns uses 10 products. The generated report will contain details below: 1st Page-> Front Page containing details of the customer base.

    2nd Page-> Index page that contains product names and page numbers

    3rd page: 1 product details

    4th page: Details of the product 2.

    .

    .

    and so on.

    INDEX

    Product name Page No.

    Anchovies 4
    Apple at the top of 5
    Bacon 6
    7 barbecue sauce
    Barbecue Sauce2 8
    9 the chicken filling
    Dough 10

    Please note that the product number will be variable (it can increase or decrease), so there may be a case when the index page takes more than 1 or 2 pages just to print the names of products and their respective numbers.

    Thanks for the help in advance.

    All,

    Managed to find the error. I used the option field to insert available in word. Copy the tag instead of the field option and then build the table of contents.

  • Index is not showing is not the correct page numbers

    I use 7 HR to develop versions online and print the user guide. There are several tables of contents for this project (the tables are specific to the user). When I generate the project for my chosen table of content, and I find the results, the index numbers do not show the right page. Example: number of units... 106; number of units is actually on page 112.

    Is there a trick to make it display correctly?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Table of contents not be created properly

    The table of contents does not correctly render levels.

    My second level is made before the first. Why this might be happening?

    I forgot something? If this isn't a bug... then I'm completely preplexed.

    I created TOC of hundreds of times and I've never run into this issue.

    Levels does not actually get used to sort the table of contents, unless you sort alphabetically. If sorting by page, the usual cause of things ouot of order is implemented. ID search for images containing paragraphs to be included from the upper left, then down, then up opt to move to the right and down again once, so a framework that is more to the left, even if low on the page, is first.

  • Table of contents not showing is not on DVD

    I need to burn a DVD with table of contents. For some reason when I test the DVD on my player, there is no content/menu. I came to chapter markers, so I don't know why they are not transferred to disk. Help, please!

    What do you get when you insert the DVD? Is - that the video starts to play automatically instead of the menu?

    Note: you can easily avoid wasting disks DVD sharing on your hard disk instead. This creates a disk image, you can ride as if it were a real DVD by double-clicking it in the Finder.

    In this way, you can test the result in your Mac using a DVD player (even in a Mac without and real DVD player) and you can make adjustments and re-export as many times as necessary. When you are ready, use the Finder to burn multiple copies of the DVD that you want - in El Capitan, just control - click on the disk image file and select burn. [In previous versions of Mac OS X, you should use disk utility to burn DVD discs]

  • I can not display the page numbers of my books

    I want to sort my books pdf by number of pages, but when I add this detail (Pages) in the folder the whole column is empty.

    How can I get page numbers to display?
    I tried the following far with the following results:
    1. the folder does not give me the ability to edit the details of the file when I right click on it so I can't enter the page numbers manually.
    2. when I right click and check the properties of the available tabs are general, sharing and customize.  Customize tab only allows me to change the folder icon.
    3 when I select the properties of one of the pdf books in the folder tabs only I get are general, Pdf, and resume and I am unable to add the page number, use one of these tabs as well.
    4. I downloaded 'Quick pdf tools' that allows me to be able to change the pdf information because I thought that the reason why the column is empty is because the PDF itself does not page number filled in, but by viewing the properties with this tool, I am able to see that the page numbers for all the pdf files are listed (and can not be changed) so I don't understand not why the column for pages shows blank in the windows folder.
    What I resorted to that adds the keywords column to the file and write the page numbers in this column because the information I enter in this field will appear in the windows folder column.  I have a number of books, and it's a little disheartening to think that I must do this for each book when the information is already there for example the page number.
    So, if anyone can let me know what I can do to make the Pages column displays the number of pages rather than remain just an empty column, I would be very grateful.

    See if the following help to view pages:

    1. in a folder, choose 'View' - 'choose details '.

    2. a dialog box "Choose details" will appear. From there, you will have many options, listed here in alphabetical order:

    * Title of the album
    * Artist
    * Attributes
    * Audio sampling rate
    * Audio sample size
    * Author
    * Flow
    * Camera model
    * Category
    * Channels
    * Comments
    * Company
    Author's rights
    * Date of access
    * Date of creation
    * Update
    * Date photograph
    * Description
    * Dimensions
    * Duration
    * Name of the episode
    * Version of the file
    * Type
    * Keywords
    * Name
    * Owner
    * Pages
    * Product name
    * Product version
    * Description of the program
    * Protected
    * Size
    * Status
    * Topic
    * Title
    Track number
    * Type
    * Year

    Naturally, some of these options do not make sense for all folders. But for those who have a sense, check the boxes next to the details you want to see.

    If you want to move an element upwards or downwards in the list (higher appear to the left in "Détails" view), click on the item in question and press the 'Move up' and 'down '.

    I hope this helps.

  • Table of contents displays the wrong fonts... Sometimes

    When I generate a table of contents, it generally works well, but sometimes text comes from the size and color of the text source instead of the assigned police of OCD.

    I have a my "TOC 1" paragraph style value 9/18 black points.  One of my headers is partially oversized and reversed text to white 36 p. It is not saved as a character style, just make it bigger.  Rather than follow the assigned table of contents 1 style, this text is available in white 36 p. I have other places where the headers are reversed and or resized and it displays fine in the table of contents.  In some cases, the table of contents comes in the color of the text source... but most of the time it comes of as it should be, as the color of the table of contents 1.

    Why the inconsistency?

    I keep digging and I found the answer. It's more than the "local formatting". It is "localpartial formatting" that replaces the table of contents style.

    I saw this initially because it was only a space empty at the end of the header which is different, so it was invisible to me.

    If the text in a header in the doc is exactly the same, no matter how it is modified locally, the TOC style is applied in its entirety.

    If any part of this text is different, the table of contents will be changed... BUT:

    Different changes apply to different parts of the line in the table of contents. So we can predict how some inmates / change will apply.

    If this is supposed to be a feature rather than a problem, it's a pretty bad; too many incompatible variables.

    The graph below shows some of the results possible.  At least now I know what is the problem and how to avoid it.

  • Tables of contents, not the substitution of character styles applied in chapters

    My table of contents uses not the style of input I select words in the paragraphs that have styles of characters that are applied in the chapter, so some letters, more precisely the parameters, displayed in green, which is well in the chapter but not in the table of contents. I can manually fix this in the table of contents by changing the character to any style after the table of contents was generated, but I don't want to do that. I think it has to happen automatically.

    This should do it:

    (?<=\()[\w, \w)]*(?="">

    It searches the text in parentheses without selecting them.

  • Table of content not applying paragraph styles do not

    Hello

    Intensely frustrated, but assuming that I have do just something stupid I can't understand.  I use CS4.

    Try to make a table of contents.  Everything will import correctly in the table of contents - I because of paragraph styles to the different levels, I've wanted to, etc., including some of the hidden layers.  All these import correctly.

    I did the paragraph styles for the real KNOCK out and filled in the box for each to apply to the specifc level.  The basic indentation formatting etc. I am applying work, but features and the font size will not change.

    When I look at each paragraph style, everything entered in the way that I want it to be (that is, text formatting, etc.).  I can go to my OCD manually and click on the section of text and apply the style to the paragraph I want and apply the recesses, etc., but the formatting of the text is not.  I have to go to character styles to make it work.

    If I go into another section of my document, apply that same paragraph text style, then all (characteristics of fonts & renfonçait changes etc.).

    Looks like you can have styles of characters applied to text in the document itself, and these character styles are preserved. Local formatting and character styles applied in the paragraphs are retained when you make the table of contents.

    Many users doesn't seem to understand the distinction between character and paragraph styles, too and using character styles incorrectly. I'm not saying that it's true for you, necessarily, but you should undersand this character styles are used to change the font attributes for bit isolated from the text in a paragraph. The basis for the type specification is part of the paragraph style, and there should be no reason to apply a style of character with the exception of special cases - some words or characters - in the paragraph. Text most will have no style applied character.

  • Table of contents not applying style does not correctly

    I have an InDesign document of basic test with a "paragraph A Style" applied to a few main headings in the document. I created a "paragraph Style B" separate for the TOC to represent instances of a paragraph Style A. Style is set in 8pt font. Style B is set to 14pt font. When I place the Table of contents in the dialog box, I chose the Style A appear as Style B, but when I actually put the table of contents, it always appears in A Style. Any ideas as to why?

    InDesign CS5 version 7.0

    Windows XP SP3

    Same problem on two different computers (with the same configuration as shown above)

    You might also look to see if you apply a character style to the text.

  • What is the best way to list the numbers of page and page number ranges in my table of contents?

    I use the feature book to create a catalog.

    Thus, it consists of several files.

    Each file is a 'different' Section that Indesign is concerned.

    Here's my table of contents now:

    toc.PNG

    All page numbers are static.

    Each rounded rectangle, color corresponds to a section (which is a separate file). Some sections have subsections, some don't.

    The catalog changes over time, I would like that all page numbers in the table of contents of auto-update. Less work and less chance of human error.

    I noticed the text variable and tools of text to anchor, but so far have failed.

    What do you recommend?

    I decided to use text Variables.

    -J' I first define the header of each category as a Destination of the hyperlink text.

    - Then I insert a text Variable in the mounting spot in the table of contents, using my simplified page number text variable definition:

    Takes two text Variables with a hyphen between them to express a range of pages. It works well enough.

    A small tip is necessary to the last page of page number. I use a text in the large box in the mount table as a Destination of the hyperlink. He is never seen, but as long as he stays on the right page, it will always give me the page that I need - the last in this section:
