Table of contents displays the wrong fonts... Sometimes

When I generate a table of contents, it generally works well, but sometimes text comes from the size and color of the text source instead of the assigned police of OCD.

I have a my "TOC 1" paragraph style value 9/18 black points.  One of my headers is partially oversized and reversed text to white 36 p. It is not saved as a character style, just make it bigger.  Rather than follow the assigned table of contents 1 style, this text is available in white 36 p. I have other places where the headers are reversed and or resized and it displays fine in the table of contents.  In some cases, the table of contents comes in the color of the text source... but most of the time it comes of as it should be, as the color of the table of contents 1.

Why the inconsistency?

I keep digging and I found the answer. It's more than the "local formatting". It is "localpartial formatting" that replaces the table of contents style.

I saw this initially because it was only a space empty at the end of the header which is different, so it was invisible to me.

If the text in a header in the doc is exactly the same, no matter how it is modified locally, the TOC style is applied in its entirety.

If any part of this text is different, the table of contents will be changed... BUT:

Different changes apply to different parts of the line in the table of contents. So we can predict how some inmates / change will apply.

If this is supposed to be a feature rather than a problem, it's a pretty bad; too many incompatible variables.

The graph below shows some of the results possible.  At least now I know what is the problem and how to avoid it.

  • Character palette displays the wrong font size

    I work with a card that has been created with GIS mapping software. For some reason, the sizes are wrong in the character palette. For example, type that is actually 5.56pt is show as .7pt

    If I reset the palette of characters, the size of the fonts and characters back by default (enchantress 12pt), but the size is in reality much larger than 12pt. There must be another place where the type is currently scaling, but I can't find it anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    To make matters worse, if I copy the text to a new text box, type return to its correct size. It's clearly something to do with the box that contains. I'd rather not have to replace every occurrence of the text, because they are too many and placement is critcal in map data.

    Also, to clarify, I can say, the text block has not been weighed and both horizontal and vertical scale are 100%

    If it comes out of ArcMap then the best thing to do is to select all and any click using the arrows to the left and then click the right move.

    How stop the TOC 2 on the first page of the project start and how do I display so I can access it later.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Pat

    The start page is not a topic. This is what opens the three components and the topic you see in that is the default theme.

    By default, HR takes the name of your project and which initially applies the page so if your project is called redrabbit, the start page will be redrabbit.htm.

    Many authors can call the redrabbit of the theme by default as it is the name of the project and it seems logical.

    Problem is when the wizard attempts to use it as the default value for the start page, the name is used for the number 1 is added.

    This means that you end up with redrabbit and redrabbit1. If you look in the wizard, you will see the name of the start page, first on the ground. You do not redirect, that redirect you to the default topic that is longer than down in the page of the wizard. The index is that the field is called the default theme.

  • How can I display the table of contents for the iPod Touch to 6

    When I opened first of all iPod Touch Users' Guide, I used the table of contents (TOC) to locate and access sections in the manual. But, after looking through the manual for awhile, I tried to return to the table of contents, but it wasn't there! I have tried various things to see if the table of contents are being hidden, or if in some way, it has been deleted. Anyone can shed light on this mysterious event?

    What is the version of iBooks that you speak? There is an online version here: https://help.apple.com/ipod-touch/9/ Aha, I see the table of contents on the left disappears if you zoom before or make the narrow window and reappears if zoom you out or make it larger.

  • Table of contents displays a mess

    I created and generated a Table of contents and I'm having a weird problem.   He is a 19-page document and Table of contents is set up to display items 1 and 2.  Everything went well, except that to the a page Heading 1 on top of the page opens in the Table of contents under the heading level 1 below - i.e., they are in the wrong order!

    Yes, on the page.

    Text 9

    Text 10

    But he returned on the Table of contents.

    Text 10

    Text 9

    Any ideas on why it would do that?

    9 and 10 numbers page, or numbered paragraphs?

    TOC paragraphs in psotion on the page, then the things that are more left get picked up before things that are less advantage, if that makes sense.

  • Indented in the table of contents is not retained in the table of contents of the document

    Hi all

    I use RH7 on a Windows XP Professional platform.

    I am generating documentation and indentation in the table of contents generated in the document is not the same, not even close, as the project.

    I tried to use HTML heading levels maintain checkbox, but while titles fonts are better, indentation in the table of contents for the document is getting worse.

    When I disable this checkbox, it will give me a decent indentation in the table of contents, however the fonts used for headings in the document are sometimes more small then one used for normal text.

    Does anyone has an idea how I could fix it? I don't want to do too much formatting in the Word document either, because it takes a long time.

    Thank you

    Thus in the document that you want to book either title 1 and 2 book 2 and in the table of contents you want this?

    As you can see, this is what I have in the TOC and the body is as described above.

    If you select HTML to maintain levels, you will always get the above with the titles of books but third topic will become a heading 1, as it should with this option checked.

    I maps to a Word template where the TOC styles are defined to be indented as above. Maybe you have to match to a Word template, or if you are, you just need to tweek styles in it.

  • How hide the table of contents in the body of an e-book?

    Hey people, I'm kind of a weird request. Do not forget that everything I know about InDesign, I taught myself for a month, so I can miss major somethng.

    As an intern, I am creating ebooks and I have to make sure that those I create the same look as the ebooks previously created for my employer (better yet, I had to do it from scratch!). In their previous ebooks (EPUB file format) the table of contents posted by the ereader clearly indicates a specific style of OCD was used to create (he titles and subtitles, so it is not just the default style that draws from the file names), BUT there is NO table of contents anywhere in the body of the ebook itself. There is also no blank page where a table of contents can be hidden with a hidden layer.

    I created a table of contents to match style to them, but I can't it appears in the drop-down menu Styles TOC when I go to export EPUB book file unless the document of the table of contents is also included in the book file, and as I said, I can't get the table of contents in the body of the ebook itself just in the menu that is displayed by an ereader.

    Any advice?

    Did you use dialogue style of content Table to create a new style of table of contents? If so, then the new table of contents style must appear in the drop-down list TOC Style selected in the dialog box in the Navigation options to export EPUB.

    Kind regards

  • Add text to the table of contents or the skin

    Hello

    I want to add text to the table of contents that shows all the time (is not clickable).  Is it possible to display some text of infomration on the bar of navigation/table of contents?

    Or is it possible to add it to a skin it will appear at the bottom of the screen?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hi Julie,.

    You can try the project--> TOC--> Info it will open a dialog box where you can enter information about your organization, as well as a logo.

    In addition, if you wish, you can change a TOC and their default legend items.

    To do this, close Captivate.

    Open Notepad-

    Paste below-

    [TOCStrings]

    SlideTitle = Module name

    Time = time

    Status = status

    MoreInfo = my info

    Clear = Wipe

    ClearToolTip = State of Wipe

    BookMarkToolTip = book-marking

    NoSearch = String not found

    CurrTime = what

    ---------------------------------------

    Save it as TOCStrings.ini

    and place this file in the location of the Adobe Captivate installation on your machine.

    Now launch and add a table of contents to the Porject and preview or publish and see the change.

    Thank you

  • Table of contents for the issue of the ePub

    InDesign CS5; Mac OS 10.6.5

    When I export my TOC document to ePub, do not show the table of contents, only the last two pages with text and an image.

    The table of contents defined paragraph styles. I think I have my correct export settings.

    Help to isolate this problem is appreciated.

    Note: Display of other documents in the book via ePub export display correctly, although the book must refine to ePub format.

    Also, when I tried to export the entire book through the book panel, InDesign starts export, but no activity in the progress bar. I have to force quit to get out of the endless loop. Then when I restart InDesign, Untitled files begin to open, 10, 20 and so on. So, I have to manually close each file.

    I suspect that OCD is causing this issue.

    Yes, that's correct. Once I've re-recorded old files "CS" in the new version, including the file book. Everything worked well.

    And I don't mean just making a backup (thinking that will result in savings in the current version) I want to talk about a backup - as in another folder in a different location... ie you Office

    After I've been using Word and Outlook for awhile, I get the following message: there is not enough memory or disk space. Word cannot display the requested font. Once I get this error message, my fonts are truncated in Word and Outlook.

    I am running Windows Vista 64-bit Home Premium with Office 2007. I have 4 GB of RAM, with settings in automatic mode (Windows detect).

    I'm not a power user. I googled and searched Microsoft help, nothing helps.

    My brand new computer becomes almost unusable! Help, please.

    kimlife,
    Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers community forum.

    There are a few things that can cause this.  One is a damaged normal.dot template, one is a damaged printer driver, and the other would be a sort of third part add in.  Start with the simplest to try so that replaces the normal.dot template.

    Click Start, click search, and in the search for box, type normal.dot.  There should be a search option you can check "Search hidden files", which is checked.  If it does not, try searching * .dot.  It can be difficult to find because it is a hidden file.  You may have to go into options files and make sure that 'show hidden files' are ticked.  Whenever you find the normal.dot file, rename the old.dot and restart your computer.  Open Word and it will create a new normal.dot template, which is what Word uses as a document is empty by default.

    If this does not work, read this article about a third-party add-in that can cause this problem:

  • Update multiple tables of contents in the same doc...

    Hello

    Here is the code I tried to write:

    myDoc var = app.activeDocument;

    var myTocStyles = myDoc.tocStyles;

    var myTocNumber = myTocStyles.length;

    for (i = myTocNumber.length; i > = 1; i ++) {}

    Thank you for your wise ideas!

    Check your syntax "for".

  • How insert/edit a table of contents in the Bookmap?

    Hi all

    I am quite puzzled, how to use a bookmap to create a full PDF with table of contents to FM9? Everyone (well almost...) wants to OCD but I found nothing in the help and did not try it myself. It seems that I would need to insert a table of contents in the frontmatter section.

    Please excuse if there is already a thread, a link would be useful I have search but can't find this problem in the forum. Maybe it's so simple that I'm the only guy to have problems.

    I also read in FM10 help but found nothing there either. All information is available from adobe at all? Update to FM10 would be an option if needed.

    Hi Robert...

    FM-DITA (any version) does not support the automatic generation of a table of contents, Index, etc. a bookmap book lists entry. To create a generated list, you must manually add this element in the generated directory file and regenerate your book. You'll want to do it anyway so that you can assign paging and numbering and apply special models. This procedure is still the best way to manage the map of generating the address of the DITA standard FM...

    http://KB.leximation.com/DFM/?kbid=4

    Other hand (here is the sales pitch)... If you use DITA-FMx, it is provided automatically. Once you have set up the INI file of book-building with the properties and characteristics in the book, lists of books that add you to the bookmap will become good listings and all your pagination and numbering is applied correctly (in addition to loads of other features).

  • Several table of contents in the document

    Hello

    I'm new in the FM8. I recently received a document FM8. The structure of the document is:

    Each document file corresponds to a chapter. Each chapter has a table of contents for its secondary headings and paragraphs.

    Table of contents (here is the chapter of 1 to 10, that chapters)

    Is then Chapter 1 includes a table of contents with all subtitles and paragraphs (for example 1.1, 1.1.1 and so on)

    Chapter 2-10 similarly.

    This isn't everything.

    Chapter 7, 8, 9 and 10 are placed in different folders, corresponding with the title of chapters. The rest of them (Chapter 1 to 6) are placed in the same folder.

    For chapters 7, 8, 9 and 10, I managed to update the second table of contents (which contains subtitles and subsections - for example 1.1, 1.1.1 etc..)

    There is in the main folder that contains the rest of the chapters of the files of table of contents for the main Table of contents and the contents of subeahds and paragraohs corresponding to each chapter. Here, I have problems with their updated because when I opened the book and update only the main table of contents will be updated. The problem appears when I create a PDF file. Because after the creation of PDF when I click on a chapter name in the table of contents it will bring me to the chapter I want to but when I click on the table of contents for subtitles/paragraphs that has nothing happened, except for chapters 7, 8, 9 and 10.

    So, to be more explicit.

    When I click on Chapter 7 in format pdf, acrobat will send me to Chapter 7 where I find another OCD where if I click subead 7.3 that he send me to the page that includes the chapter 7.3. On the contrary if I click on Chapter 4 it will bring me to the page corresponding to Chapter 4, but if I click subtitle 4.3 that nothing will happen.

    I will attach an example of this PDF.

    The structure of the file looks like this:

    Chapter 7 the folder:

    -Book

    -The TOC file Chapter 7

    -Chapter 7 (same goes for Chapter 8, 9 and 10)

    The project folder

    -Book (it contains all files from Chapter 1 to 10)

    -File table of contents (the main table of contents)

    -Files table of contents of the chapters

    -files of the chapters

    Thank you. Any help will be appreciated.

    Excuse my poor English writing.

  • Table of contents of the printed Documentation

    How can I specify the location of the table of contents in the printed documentation? I would like it to appear after the title page, but it still appears before her.

    It's true. The title page which is created by the printed documentation is a default start page that you have little control over. If you imported a word document that already contains a title page that does not appear before the table of contents because the HR doesn't recognize it as such. Those of us who create print usually do as you describe. We create a generic title page that is stored in a separate word file. Then we generate the output and copy the frontispiece. You need to remove the title page of the printed good documentation process, otherwise you'll end up with both of them! I hope this helps.
