Table of contents - off after having generated.

I have a real problem to generate a Table of contents.

I have three different paragraph styles:

I select in the menu table of contents, but when it generates turns my paper of 40 pages.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

I think that what has happened here, is that you had generated a table of contents sooner and threaded to the frame of the table of contents with the other images in the document. In this way the history became a FAKE story.

Now when you generate the table of contents with replace content on executives all text gets deleted so the table of contents can go, but the TOC would not get generated for any text at all because the text has been deleted.

I suggest that you never screw the frame of the table of contents with the normal chassis.

Even now, I would say that you copy all the text (no COT) and paste into a new framework and flow on other pages. Then generate the table of contents.

  • All my attempts so far to generate the table of contents for Kindle (.mobi) failed. Can anyone help?

I used InDesign CC to create an epub file and the TOC and the Navigation bar appear perfectly in Adobe Digital Editions (version 3.0). Then I saved the file to the IDML format open InDesign CS6 and use the Kindle Plugin to create a mobi file. I use the same style of table materials used to create the epub file, but although Kindlegen validates the file, the table of contents is unable to generate. I've been on several discussion forums and many people express problems by having their TOC displayed in Kindle Previewer. Can anyone help?

    Hello

Kindle requires a separate html file for OCD and even must be referenced in the guide in content.opf element. In your InDesign CC document, generate the table of contents on a page and make sure the option 'Make the anchor text to the source paragraph' is checked.

Now export the EPUB 3 file. Open EPUB in Sigil (it's a free EPUB editor of Google). Menu Goto tools-> Table of contents-> generate HTML Table of contents. This creates a new xhtml file and automatically adds the element of guidance in content.opf like this:

Save EPUB and open directly into Kindle Previewer. Table of contents option must be turned on now and should work.

Please try and let me know if it works.

  • How to keep the format setting when generating a table of contents

    Hello

I have a superscript® in a title in a document that should be put in the Table of contents. When I generate the table of contents, I can't keep the format in the table of contents.

I could cheat and manually change the, but there must be a way that remains with these properties whenever I have to regenerate the table of contents.

    No idea how?

    Kind regards.

    What version of FM?

    What the police?

There are two separate issues here:

    1. If you are super as a character Format in the files of body, the format must be in character for the OCD catalogue, or the formatting is not applied.
    2. If you do this and get it display correctly in the table of contents, which will break the hyperlink linking it.

The solution is usually to do great as characters of Unicode natively by exposing and not the character Formats.

See: TOC link with a character index does not in PDF format

  • WebHelp, view a topic that is not present in the table of contents

    Hello

I'm working on RH8. I use multiple TOC and created a table of contents with only the first 4 chapters. After having generated the WebHelp by using that FAKE, even if I look for a subject that did not exist in the table of contents, I can see the help.

Ideally, if the topic is not added to the table of contents, should not be displayed even if someone searches for it.

    Please help me with this.

Looks like you expect the table of contents to control what is in the construction and it's not the way it works. It is simply the pointer on key issues, which may need to support the topics where you wouldn't wish that the user to start and that might clutter up the table of contents.

What you see, it's the way it is supposed to work and how a HAT I've seen. The table of contents indicates what you want to highlight, the search finds all that is in the build.

You can use exclude research in properties, introduced in RH8. In this way the subject is in the build-up but not searchable.

If you don't want certain topics, use TCC to exclude.

  • Missing entries in Table of contents

I am working on a long document (550 pages...) in InDesign CC 2014 and has created a style of table of contents in order to generate it.

But for some strange reason some entries are left behind not taken at the table of contents are generated...

The styles are applied and included in the table of contents style...

Someone has encountered this problem before?

I've seen this when the style names are duplicated with capital letter, or there are two copies in groups of different styles (or in a style group), and both have been applied to different parts of the text.

  • Table of content items to be revealed when the learner is over each topic?

We are still using Captivate 5. Is it possible in one of the versions Captivate to set up the table of contents so that a topic is active (available) in the table of contents only after the learner has completed pages in this topic?

We envisage that a learner has not completed a topic, the name of the topic would say dimmed, which indicates that the learner could not confirm yet. But after one of the learner, it is available in the table of contents where he would like to return to this topic to examine something.

It would be a means of encouraging learners to work through each page and not jump all the headings.

    Thank you!

    Hello

That feature is not there in Captivate 5, but he's here in versions of Captivate of Captivate 5.5, then you will get in the last version of Captivate also (Captivate 7).

The function is "Visited Navigate slides only" (you will need to check that) within the project framework > Table of contents > settings.

This feature will allow you to do the same thing you mentioned in your query.

  • Conditional compilation tags or phrases in the table of contents

    Hi all

I meet another problem with my conversion, this time with the tags and conditional compilation expressions.
Everything seems to go well in my subjects, but not in my table of contents.

Some of my topic titles have words with conditional text applied in the source FrameMaker document.

These subject titles also appear in the table of contents that are automatically generated when I connect my framework book in Robohelp.

I put the conditional compilation expression in the Webhelp settings dialog box and then save and build.

These topic titles appear to pick up the correct conditional compilation expression in the subjects themselves, but the title of the table of contents displays several conditions (including the condition that I set myself to 'Exclude').

Thus, for example, if the title of my topic is

    "Conventions in this documentonline help."

    WHERE
    -----
document > should appear in PDF format only
    and
online help > must only appear in Webhelp

I can get the Webhelp topic to use the title "Conventions in this online help.

but the corresponding TOC header looks like this:
    "Conventions in this documentonline help.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.
    What

Conditional compilation tags are not imported to the table of contents of the FrameMaker content. However, you can follow another approach to achieve this. We can manage the conditional compilation expression in FrameMaker itself and import the content of filterted in RoboHelp. In order to achieve this, set the conditional compilation expression in FrameMaker. Enable the setting in RoboHelp to 'apply FrameMaker text building conditional Expression '. [File->-> import-> Edit (FrameMaker settings)-> other settings of project settings]

This way of RoboHelp will import only the content filtered with conditional tags build resolved according to the expression applied in FrameMaker.

  • Duplicate sections throughout the table of contents after generating the HTML5 multiscreen output

    Use: RoboHelp 10, version 10.0.0.287

    Steps to reproduce the problem:

    1. click on file > create > main layout (Multiscreen_HTML5)

2 al ' Generate window click on [Save and Generate]

    3. wait

    4. click on [view results]

5 results show swathes of the table of contents reproduced in other sections.  10 more times to repeat the generation before that the entire table of contents points are correct and I can publish.  This is not preventing me from doing the job, but it's certainly a time killer.

Background: I inherited a working version.  I did not create it.  I have more knowledge of the HTML language, but I'm not a developer.  I didn't upgrade beyond RH10 option.  I have studied this many times, but have not been able to find a solution.  The only other thing I've seen sometimes are error messages related to the toctree.js file, but I still don't understand those.  Even when I have not, this past yet, but I have included this error just in case it may be related, although I suspect that it is a separate issue.  I don't currently have the line in the js file because this sample is old and I have not seen the question at least a month.

Other Notes: I've seen a few posts on a similar question in the printed version, but, I do not have a printed version.  I don't know if that makes a difference, and do I know if anyone in the past that put in place or even where to go to watch.

  • Topics and new books do not appear in the table of contents after generated in DHTML (RoboHelp v8)

Until recently, when I tried to add a topic for a book in the Table of contents, I just dragged into the project manager in the Table of contents.  I don't know what is different today, but the new entries appear in the Table of contents pod but not in the generated DHTML.  To make it more confusing, to me anyway, some newly added topics show.

    Hello

I don't think 'huge' search and replace that can affect things. But we need to check a few things first.

When you look at the SSL recipe, using any type of a conditional build Expression? If so, perhaps you have tagged content and it is not for this reason.

  • RH10 errors generating WebHelp after having applied the fixes

I was able to solve this problem. It seems that, in the frame following the instructions for applying the patch to WebHelp, fix for Internet Explorer 10, some files have been deleted.

Fortunately, my TI support person had made a backup of the folders before him applied the patches and was able to copy the missing files.

I'm now able to generate again the WebHelp.

  • Table of contents generated a mess

With the help of FM 10 with a table of contents generated.  The first page of a chapter has 2 streams, "Chapter title" and "text body".  "Chapter title" exceeds "body text".  The 2 streams are not connected, because I don't want a headline to encroach on the text and ruin the formatting.  If the title is not related to what anyone, but the body is connected to the next page.

Table of contents generated Finally, puts the title of the chapter under all the other entries for this page.  The following pages are fine, until the next title page.

From other posts, I have moved around the page title (upwards and downwards), changed the names of stream and paragraph styles, and it still puts the flow changed title on this page.

Two text streams are defined on the master page.

It seems that all that is in the flow of a single displayed the first without worrying.  How can I fix?  How to read the stream in the correct order?

    Help.

After several days of fighting, I decided to give in and make all a casting spanning 2 images.

The TOC works, which should surprise no one.

Just to be perverse, I went back and disconnected the executives still once, renamed them what, and continued to work on the table of contents.  So now do I want the way I want.

    Go figure.

Not really intuitive, but does not require a hack, and I can live with the result.  As with many things with FM, once you find the rule, you can use it to do the job.  The observation of these rules is the hardest part.  Another 'undocumented feature' for books.

    Thanks for all the help.

  • FM10 cannot generate the table of contents with main points

    Hello world

I've read some useful discussions here on this issue but I still can not to be able to solve this problem of main points for my OCD.

I already assured that the reference for all my image in my book files have the same reference table of contents of the page entry page. When I generate my OCD the main points are missing!
