• Table of contents, problems in applying the character style

  This is my first post, I checked if there was already something similar, but I can't find anything so I'm asking here.

  I work with Indesign 9.3 and I created a book of 80 pages and there are 20 + chapters.

  Dear all
  In forms 10G, I have a table of contents and a canvas stacked. When designing the form, I'm lining up the canvas stacked on the table of contents.
  I followed these steps: -.
  (1) open content then in balloon tool table that I click VIEW then STACK VIEWS.
  (2) then it will open a STACKED pop-up window / TAB PAINTING and here I select my name of stacked canvas.
  (3) but after that when I want to open only the canvas content then this canvas also stacked the opening...
  And I'm not able to hide that...
  How to do this?

• Table of content problem

  I looked through a number of other discussions here, but have not met my exact problem.  I noticed people with their OCD problems some of the positions of the command correctly.  My problem is similar, but I don't see how it's the same thing.

• Word 2007 - Insert Table of contents constantly causes problems, computer crash!

  I have problems with the functionality of Table of contents for the word.

  I have Microsoft Office 2007 (Home and Student) and it's a genuine copy that I bought brand new an office supply store.

  The product works perfectly apart from the problem with the Table of contents.

  Whenever I try to insert a table of contents in a document, insert the table of contents, but then my CPU will jump up to 99 and Office will freeze (I need to CTRL + ALT + DELETE to quit the program, because I can't even click on the red box X on the corner). I tried to restart the computer, running virus scans, etc. I've been having this problem since I bought Office about 6 months ago and he won't let me create some very important documents.

  I find that the exact time of the accident the most often happens when I click somewhere on the table of contents after inserting the it. In particular, it freezes at the present time any popup 'police' boring and useless box (small police box that arrives just above top of everywhere where the cursor was clicked). • Question about subjects, books and tables of contents

  I have a question about the subjects, books and tocs. I have a project that someone else created, and my task is to create a new topic and add it to the table of contents. I created the topic, but when I generate CHM project it does not appear in the table of contents. I tried to update the table of contents. What I think (I guess) could be the problem, is the 'links to the topics', when I see the links to the topics in other areas (old) they seem to have a link to the main book, but the new one is not mine. Could you help me? Thank you!!!

  It seems that you have a manual table of contents page, rather than using the table of contents of CHM.

  The toc.htm topic that you see in your list of topics is probably where you will need to add your new topic.

  If the table of contents was already populated when you inherited the project, I suspect the previous author was using it just to keep track of the topics they had added manually to the topic toc.htm - added the CHM topic in summary you did mark the column of the table of contents in the list of topics like '' Yes. '' then add to the toc.htm manual is not. Hope that makes sense.

  P.S. Just guess that it is installing what I can see in the screenshot. It is quite unusual, so I hope I'm right.

• Question of FrameMaker 10 Table of contents

  I did the updates of my manual, saved the book and now my TOC displays as red text with lines of text (as the changes).  The table of contents has duplicated with this red/lines of text 8 times (now the 34P) and the bottom of the page shows the table of normal contents. I can't understand how to solve this problem. If anyone can help?

  Well, not knowing whether or not it is enabled by design, we'll play it safe that we test this;

  • Save and close all files in the book window
  • In the book window > view > track text edits > Final glimpse
  • The book was updated

  If is enabled, we should be safe and assume it is activated on purpose, and you must review each chapter, accept or reject the changes. When assigning the Final Preview view, the changes are always followed, but they should is no longer showing.

  I'm about to step in the class, and maybe someone else can pick up this thread. If the issue is not the track text changes, the next thing I would like to Explorer are conditional text settings.

  1. to increase the width of the table of contents
  2. to change the settings?

  Hello I would like to know if anyone can help understand me how to format Table of contents entries to include a prefix.

  I want to each chapter entry in my table of contents to include the prefixes of words Chapter 1, Chapter 2... etc.

  For example. Just to say that my first chapter is called "aseptic".

  Currently the aseptic 'A technical' chapter title is formatted with a paragraph style called "chapter title", and this paragraph style is included in the "Styles of Table of contents.

  So for the moment my OCD simply shows the words "One Technique aseptic" followed by the page number.

  I want that entry of table of contents to say: "Chapter 1 asepsis.

  But I don't want the words "Chapter 1" to appear on the title page of actual chapter. "»

  Also, I want to be able to add unique style to the prefixes (I guess with character styles). So that I can make the "Chapter 1"style a little differently to "Aseptic", while both appear on the same line.

  Is it possible to do? I know that I can just click on the table of contents, and then make the changes directly, but it's not ideal because if I click on "update the Table of contents" then all changes are lost. I want the added prefixes dynamically so that they remain in place even if chapter headings are changed in the future.

• Problem Word document with table conversion table of contents

  I use MS Word 2003 and Acrobat 9 in Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

  I created the manual using Word, I put position (s) with 3 levels deep and created the table of contents in Word.
  It seems as expected. There are titles, subtitles and subtle (3rd level).

  Table of contents in Word works very well. No problem.

  In the PDFMaker options on the Bookmarks tab, I put 1 TOC with 3 levels.
  However, after you convert the entire document in PDF, bookmarks seem very strange.

  They contain only the titles (no subtitles at all), each bookmarked line ends with some number 3, 4 or 5 that I have not idea what it is and these bollmarks point to page table of contents no to the page, they should have.

  
  What is the problem and how can I fix it?

  I have read a lot of posts with similar problems and tried all of the suggestions posted.
  I tried:

  1.

  Reinstalling Adobe (by removing all of the related files), well I don't have any older versions (and facilities) of Acrobat in this computer.

  In Adobe PDFMaker uncheck the option "enable accessibility and...» »

  3.

  Set up printer to Adobe PDF

  4.

  In Word > parameters-OCD I ticked the option "use hyperlinks instead of page numbers.

  I also tried in Adobe PDFMaker use not FAKE, but to use 'convert Word headings to bookmarks.
  The result was horrible. Double bookmarks, reverse a lot of bookmarks empty and level 1 level 2 positions (I think that created by blank lines in the charts on the pages).
  Please note that by using the same word headings create TOC without any problem!
  The only plus side was that some of these bookmarks came with correct links.

  

  These bokkmarks were created using "New bookmarks from structure" option in Acrobat (after conversion of the document)

• Problem with proper alignment of the character in my table of contents Styles

  I'm working on my first book project and I have read so many threads here for the last hour, but I either just don't understand, or I have not found that I still had, so I apologize already where this question has been answered before...

  OK, so... I'm building my OCD and have set up corresponding TOC styles with paragraph styles used throughout the book.

  what I want is for the page number must appear before the entrance. so for the page number I put in place its own table of contents page number character style.

  the page number appears left aligned. I checked the palette styles of character and here I can not put a tab for the page number appear stalled right...

  How can I get this page number to be propped right? and THEN, how can I specify the distance between the page number and the entry?   I played with this for almost an hour, and as much as I know there is no way to adjust the alignment of the page numbers in the table of contents, suggesting off the beaten path.

  After testing a whole bunch of stuff that didn't work, I came up with the somewhat strange solution, but not impossible to simply change the table of contents manually to insert the required number of spaces listed in each entry. It takes the police that you use for numbers has Lining Figures, and you specify that, in the style, but a solution of script (and I don't know if it is possible) which are the best that I can offer. To set the distance of the number on the text, use a tab and set the position as part of the style.

  I'm really starting to get stressed with the automatic text features in InDesign. Each auto text feature is implemented in a superficial way. Notes don't cover columns, references break books, crash the app or go in infinite loops, indexing is a mess.

  Now, my question is: how to avoid the following events? Look at it please, screenshot.

  

  As you can see InDesign takes jumps of line and base-travel of the headlines to the table of contents, even if the paragraph to the TOC styles define a zero baseline-shift (well, the breaks are characters). Is there a work around to stop what is happening? A way to tell InDesign to ignore break characters and, Yes, to keep the definition of table of contents styles?

  I would appreciate any advice. I sent a bug report, too. I hope that Adobe goes back to the roots and begins production stable, careful products once again. Since CS4 the mess of bug is a real pain. Less marketing and editions and better quality, please!

• Table of contents to highlight the problem

  I use RH8.0.2.

  When I click on the text of the hyperlink it navigate to the correct page, but in the content of the table of contents section that appears is not highlighted. Then there's the page where he was selected remains highlighted.

  For example: as in Fig1, if I click on the "TMD PDU" it navigate to the page on the right as in Fig. 2, but fake 'E - UTRA RLC Messages Overview' remains enabled. Ideally in TOC "TDG PDU" page should be highlighted.

  Hi Rahul

  There are a few things you need to check here. I will assume from the images, you create the CHM files.

  First, open the project set-up pod and expand the Windows folder. Change the properties of your CHM window, and then make sure that the option to synchronize the table of contents has been activated.

  

  Once you've done that, change the properties of single Source available and click the change... button. This should open another dialog box where you must click on the Styles tab OCD make sure you check the option always show selection .

• Table of contents page numbering problem

  I do turn a problem in which the Table of contents, newly created or updated to date, is not its own pages, causing all the page numbers next to be turned off by the number of pages in the table of contents itself.

  What I am doing wrong?

  I never heard of something like that happening.

  The only thing I can think of is with Smart Text Reflow option preferences?

• Problem with the table of contents pages and books

  I use 8 HR and generate Webhelp.

  I created a project and had to change a few pages of table of contents and create TOC books instead. I deleted the pages and added books, with the same name. HR, it looks fine, but when I generate the table of contents for the page instead of the book. I tried to clear my cache in Internet Explorer, and the deletion of the page again. Still no help. I rebooted and even rebooted and still have the same thing. Can someone tell me how to solve this problem?

  Indeed if a book has nothing in it, it will not appear in the table of contents. When you think about it, it is very logical. Why would you want a book to appear if nothing was inside?
