Tablespace size question

Oracle 11.2.0.1.0

RHEL5

My database is to have a 'WHITE' tablespace with size 1200M.

When I exported this schema using datapump, I got a dumpfile of size about 50 M and later I imported the dumpfile even into another schema 'BLANK_ALL' with an another tablespace using datapump BLANK_ALL tablespace size is approx. 70 M.

How can we get there such a huge difference between the size of the two storage spaces?

No, you can't rule out the space one tablespace to another because they use different files.  TEMP uses tempfiles, storage of data use data files and never the two are irreconcilable.  It is not like to shovel mashed potatoes, one plate to the other. storage spaces are physically separate entities.

I support the opinion that you consume space TEMP at an "alarming rate" because you misspelled, poorly performing queries.  Yes, it's a data warehouse, but overnight batch process to repopulate this warehouse are not collected statistics?  A question you have run 11.2.0.1, the base of the 11.2 version, because it is quite buggy with some of these bugs related to statistics and optimizer.  You should, if possible, at least 11.2.0.3; 11.2.0.4 would be better.  I came across a nasty bug with 11.2 where the columns of unique, non-null would generate histograms of frequency numbers unnecessary.  Of course these histograms wreaks havoc on the plans because the optimizer uses these "fake" numbers  Of course, some of these could be attributed to badly written queries (and 'canned' queries from purchased applications are usually at fault if the app was designed to be "independent of the database".  If the seller does not use the DBMS-specific features and language extensions, that it goes without saying the queries more complex performing very well.

Rather than trying to "goose" space it TEMP that you need to know what is consuming space and see if it can be fixed.

  • for the iBooks file size question

    Hello..

With a view to monitoring of storage space on a MacBook Air without 85 GB of available space, someone knows on what an iBook, file size can be?

    Thanks in advance!

    Carolyn

    Hi there is Carolyn!

Looks like you are looking to see what type of file sizes to wait for iBooks. This article seems to answer this question directly:

    On iBooks

    Size of files

The typical book is about 2 MB. The books that contain improved, audio or video, features vary in size depending on the content. Enhanced books could take longer to download than a standard book.

The iBook Store also offers manuals that might be larger than 1 to 2 GB of file size. You need a Wi - Fi download them on an iOS device. Time to download textbooks vary depending on your Internet connection.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

  • How to UNDO tablespace size?

    As legend. Thank you!

An UNDO tablespace sizing requires three data items.

    (UR) UNDO_RETENTION in seconds
(UPS) Number of undo the blocks of data generated per second
(DBS) Overhead varies on position and size of the file (db_block_size)

The necessary cancellation space is calculated as:

    UndoSpace = HEART * (UPS * DBS)

read the Doc ID 262066.1 it has retail formula.

  • Can verify us the scope of management for LM tablespace sizes?

    Hi all;

Sizes of extensions that are managed locally can be determined automatically by the system.

Otherwise, all extensions can have the same size in a locally managed tablespace.

I created a test locally managed tablespace.

How can I check the sizes of scope management for tablespace in oracle 10 g test?

Most likely your tablespace is created as AUTOALLOCATE LMT. You can consult:

    SQL > set long 50000

    SQL > select dbms_metadata.get_ddl ('TABLESPACE', '') of double;

If you see the keyword 'autoallocate' you know why extensions are allocated with different sizes as AUTOALLOCATE specifies scope sizes are generated in the system.

If you want to create scopes with the same dimensions, you must specify UNIFORM.

    Example:

    SQL > CREATE TABLESPACE TS3 DATAFILE ' / oradata/ts3_01.dbf ' SIZE 50 M MEASURE LOCAL of MANAGEMENT UNIFORM SIZE 128 K;

    SQL > select tablespace_name, extent_management, segment_space_management, initial_extent, next_extent from dba_tablespaces where nom_tablespace = 'YOUR_EXAMPLE ';

    NOM_TABLESPACE EXTENT_MAN INITIAL_EXTENT NEXT_EXTENT SEGMENT

    ------------------------------ ---------- ------ -------------- -----------

    YOUR_EXAMPLE LOCAL 1048576 1048576 MANUAL

  • Tablespace size

    Hello

How can I know how many terabytes of space allotted to me?

How much of it I've used and how much is left.

Also if possible I would like to know how much space is allocated to all users using the same tablespace.

    I'm using oracle 11g.

    Hello

Everything is in the data dictionary, even if we don't know exactly what parts you are interested in.

DBA_DATA_FILES contains information about the current file sizes.

DBA_EXTENTS contains information about the amount of space currently used.  You could subtract the amount in the total amount of space (found in DBA_DATA_FILES) use to know how much space is left, but which could lead to confusion, because the data files can be configured to automatically expand when users request more space.

DBA_TS_QUOTAS contains information on quotas (it of limit on the space that each user can take, regardless of what is available), as well as the actual amounts used.  The values of-1 in the columns BYTES or BLOCKS mean that the user is authorized to take whatever space is located in the file.

  • tablespace size and uniform LMT

    Hi all.

The database is 11.2.0.3 on a linux machine.

A tablespace created with 50 MB of uniform size.

    The following comes from dba_tablespaces.

    --------------------------------------------------

    -initial_extent: 52428800
    -next_extent: 52428800
    -content: Permanent
    -extent_management: local
    -allocation_type: uniform
    -segment_space_management: auto
    -bigfile: no

    --------------------------------------------------

    I created a table with 10 MB of initial_extent and next_extent 10 MB
on the table above space (one of 50 MB size).

    From dba_segments,.

    -initial_extent: 10 MB
    -next_extent: 10 MB

    However, according to dba_extents

    -bytes - > 50 MB (*)

    --------------------------------------------------

There is an incompatibility between dba_segments.initial_extent and dba_extents.bytes.
Is this a bug or normal?

And is there advice to change without re-creating the tablespace uniform size of a tablespace?

    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards.

In a LMT - if you create an object with an initial size, that the initial size is considered a minimum. The size actually get you will be the smallest number of extensions (uniforms in your case) that you leads at least your initial size, so no, this is not a bug

  • Weird disk size question

Sorry if this sounds too easy.  I looked in the other posts but can't find an answer.

I'm using VMWARE Workstation 6.5.0 and have been very happy with it, but I can't find an answer to the question.

I have setup a Windows XP Pro Virtual Machine and installed a number of software packages, all work very well, but I went to install another product and can not because there is not enough free space on hard drive of the virtual computer.

-When I check properties Win XP Pro, in VMWare's watch a 45 GB HD specified

-When I start the virtual machine and check under Start, my computer, drive C: shows GB total 21.9 and 1.29 GB free.

Is not jive with the allotted 45 GB size and I have no idea how to solve this problem.

    Any ideas?

    CT

    > Do not know how to check this with disk manager.

For a graphical interface within your VM XP, right-click on my computer and select manage. Then select disk management. That should show you scores and their sizes. Any expansion that you have done will be displayed as free space until you re-partition it.

For XP, it's easier to use a 3rd party partitioning program, I was using Partition Commander for several years. The most recent live CD Linux distro will do, but I would be careful.

Once you have reached the SYSTEM tablespace to the maximum size you have only one option to add the data file,
Again you say audit is being activated, check out the links provided by Lubiez Jean-Val., Helios & Hans.

Even in a situation, auditing is not enabled, there would still be plenty of recoverable space using the resizing script. But it doesn't allow you to resize.
I searched a lot, later I learned to know an answer is the database to recreate. means to create a new database and perform the Export & Import.

    A few examples I mentioned.
    http://jonathanlewis.WordPress.com/2010/02/06/shrink-tablespace/
    http://asktom.Oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0:P11_QUESTION_ID:153612348067

Of course this isn't a path in a real environment, because his is not accepted.

Looks like it is a path in your situation, where you can do some practices on cleanup/move audit & etc.

  • design of table size question of data modeling

    Hi Experts,
Sorry if I put my question in a wrong forum please suggest an appropriate forum.

need your opinion on the current design of our data warehouse of 10 years.
There is a dimension table with the structure as follows

    Dimension table
    --------------------
Number of dimension key (THIS IS NOT a PRIMARY KEY)
    Natural key (from source) number
    the source name character
current record indicator e Char (1)
    date of form_date
    TO_DATE date
several other columns, which, if change a new current record is created and the previous one is marked as H-historical

Data are stored in the table of size like this
Dimension_key natural key Source name current record ind from_date to to_date
    1 10001 Source1: 1 January 2005 May 31, 2005
    1 10001 Source1: 1 - jun - 20005 12-dec-2011
    1 10001 Source1 C 13-dec-2011 NULL

    2 20002 Source1: 1 - jun - 20001 12-dec-2011
    2 20002 Source1 C 13-dec-2011 NULL

The problem I see in this design is that if any attribute is changed there is no surrogate key, the new record is inserted first taking the key dimension based on the (natural_key, source_name, current_record_ind).
Shouldn't it be kept as follows based on the principles of data warehousing.

Dimension_key natural key Source name current record ind from_date to to_date
    1 10001 Source1: 1 January 2005 May 31, 2005
    2 10001 Source1: 1 - jun - 20005 12-dec-2011
    3 10001 Source1 C 13-dec-2011 NULL

    4-20002 Source1: 1 - jun - 20001 12-dec-2011
    5 20002 Source1 C 13-dec-2011 NULL

Please let me know the advantages and disadvantages of the current design.

Published by: Rous Sharma on December 15, 2011 20:28

Correct, your second example for example by using a surrogate key is design to go with.

    Flaws with the original design:

-There is a relationship one between Dimension_Key and Natural_Key, no need to keep both.
-Si Dimension_Key is the FK with a fact table, there will be a number of many relationships between fact and Dimension.
-Additional processing to search for Dimension_Key rather than simply for example use a sequence.

    HTMLDB right APEX?
So I guess your tablespace could be FLOW_1.

Here's a sql query to get the names of table and the file namespace and current size.

    SELECT t.name AS tbs_name,
           d.name AS file_name,
           d.bytes / 1024 / 1024 AS file_size_in_mb
      FROM v$datafile d
     INNER JOIN v$tablespace t
        ON d.ts# = t.ts#
     ORDER BY 1, 2

to increase its use of size

       ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE
      'full_file_path_from_previous_query' RESIZE 40M;

and use your size desired of course resizing.
