Taskbar window preview disappears in a second

I use Win 7 Professional on a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop. My problem is that whenever I have fly over my mouse on an icon in the taskbar, the preview window disappears quickly, no matter, I don't move my mouse. This happens as well with a USB mouse and touchpad, also. Like the new arrangement of the taskbar is completely unusable. I think that this problem causes also that when I open Messenger main window, the cursor starts flashing immediately in the search contact field. And it often happens that when I open a new window of a program, the new window appears below the other, not above. (I got these last two problems with Vista, also on this laptop). And descriptions of elements act as window-previews, too. They disappear very quickly.

The new "SuperBar" seems to be a characteristic of "love it or hate it." I have become accustomed to it and can't imagine going back to this primitive old taskbar now.

HOWEVER:

You can change the time to hover in the global system that will set the delay to hover for your entire system, including the icons on the taskbar, start menu shortcuts, etc.:

  1. Click the Start button and type regedit and press ENTER.
  2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse.
  3. Right-click on MouseHoverTime and select Edit.
  4. Set the new value. The default value is 400 milliseconds.
  5. Once modified, click OK and restart your computer.

There are many sites with detailed instructions on how to disable or change the new features and to bring the behavior of type "XP".

  • Firefox icons in the taskbar Windows 7

I have a FF icon in the Windows 7 taskbar. When I click on it, a second icon appears when the homepage is open. Following clicks on the first icon opens the tabs that appear in the second icon. Also if I open a new tab (using the '+' or via a bookmark). The first icon does not show the preview of open tabs - second icon again.
    It didn't happen in FF9

  • Windows 7 - Aero Peek window previews flicker when displayed not allowing not the window selection.

When I move my mouse over one of the icons in the taskbar much of the time it will not display the Aero peek for windows previews. When he does it usually blinks for a few seconds then does not appear. The odd time, keep it visible it will allow me to get an overview of the windows by bringing to the forefront through one of miniature windows flying over my mouse but when I click to select a window it goes back to what I was on earlier. In the case of multiple windows of the same type, for example to say Firefox and download manager in firefox by clicking on the firefox icon in the taskbar is nothing, until I navigate to and close one of the two windows manually. It became a major problem with my daily use of my computer so much so, in fact, that I returned to the use of Linux Mint during the bulk of my computer daily as it does not take me an excessive amount of time to navigate between windows. If anyone has suggestions as to how this can be fixed it would be much apreciated and would allow me to start using Windows 7 even more.

I tried to run the troubleshooter several times with no results yet. The driver is up to date and working properly, I tried unintsalling, restart and reinstall the driver 64-bit Windows 7, with no change in the problem. I can try a reinstall of Windows 7 because it won't cause a lot of data loss with separate OS and partitions of data.

    Launch of HP Support Assistant.

    Thank you

    Hi RicardoMC,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community.

From the description of the problem, I can understand that you need more information on disabling the taskbar thumbnails.

Windows 7 does not include a graphical (GUI) User Interface to disable taskbar thumbnail preview.

The only option that comes pretty close to turning off the feature is by modifying the registry settings. Check out the following link and check if this helps you to disable the taskbar thumbnails.
