TCP/IPv6 and homegroups - TCP/IPv6 is enabled, but homegroup says that it is not.

I have three computers with Windows 7 Home Premium installed recently and works well. I want to create a homegroup. When I try to join one of the computers to an existing homegroup, I get the message "your network must have IPv6 enabled connection". I have tried the stop and restart, TCP/IPv6, but I can't the homegroup to work. I cut off all firewalls. How can I verify that TCP/IPv6 works, and how I can fix this problem if it is not.

The homegroup on two other computers worked without any problems. All are connected by ethernet cable to a Verizon FiOs router. The computer problem has no other problem of connectivity - internet and e-mail work correctly. I also see the computer of 'bad' on the map of the network on the part of others.

Hi SandyGrim,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site.

one) that you get an error message?  If Yes, what is the exact error message?

I would like to explain that IPv6 has been dependent on the NPRI (redundant network routing protocol) service. To resolve this problem, we will see the following steps.

Step 1:

Temporarily disable the firewall and third-party antivirus on the computer for a test.

Step 2:

Check the relevant services are enabled.

1. click on "Start", type "services.msc" (without the quotes) in the search bar and press ENTER.

2. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

3. right click the "Peer Networking Grouping" service and choose Properties.

4. Please check if the service is started; If this isn't the case, please click on the Start button and see if it works.

5. you can also choose automatic next to startup type.

6. click on OK.

7. repeat the above steps with another service: PNRP Machine Name Publication Service.

Step 3:

Modify the key to register IPv6 to enable IPV6

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 322756

1. Click Start, type regedit in the search bar and then click regedit in the list programs.

2. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

3. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\TCPIP6\Parameters

4. check if the "DisabledComponents" registry key exists. If so, move on the next steps.

5. double-click "DisabledComponents" registry key and change the value to 0.

(If the key does not exist, please create the above key and assign the value 0)

6. exit the registry editor and then restart the computer.
