Tecra 8100 does not start.

Hello. I have this Tecra 8100 I think sell for parts, because I am crazy about her. But before that, I ask you here as a last.

It seems the section "power" of the laptop works very well: if I plug the power, the 'dc in' and 'battery' LED will light, and the "battery" led even go from orange to green when the battery is charged.

If I press the button "power on", "power" lights up. The hard disk starts to spin. The fan does nothing, and no "beep" is heard at all. In addition, the screen does not display anything. External VGA output or output TV shows nothing, too. I repeat, that no. a BEEP is heard, until...

I close the lid. A long beep is heard when I close the lid, but no trace of the image on the screen.

I have changed or upgraded nothing notebook: memory, CPU, etc.

I opened and took every piece of it: internal battery, motherboard, sound card, leds and buttons edge... and I tried to connect our case so t may be a short circuit with no luck at all.

What is a BIOS problem?

The BIOS can be reflashed in this State, as the AWARD BIOS?

Are there keys or buttons I could press to enter a kind of mode to diagnose or service?

Thank you.

Hello

The Tecra 8100 doesn t supports no internal memory. Two memory slots are available, and it depends on the unit memory has been installed.
Always is it that you can improve it to max 512 MB (2 x 256 MB)

Now to you deliver; It sounds like a hardware problem, but no one could be able to provide a diagnosis exactly what we can do is speculate on the fault.
I think that it s a motherboard problem

See you soon

    Hello

My Tecra 8100 not start or take me to the BIOS Setup. It lights up, swirls the hard drive, but there is no activity on the display. The only way I can get something on the screen is turning with the F12 key when I get the 'ready for the update of the BIOS. Place the BIOS update diskette in the drive "... message. So I tried the traditional method of updating the BIOS, found on the Toshiba site, but nothing helped. The machine seems to read the disk (that contains the downloaded BIOS) but does nothing. It is just there for centuries, with the disk light.

The last two days I have trawled thro much views and even took the whole machine goes to check the connections loose, but I found no answer yet.

Can someone out there please help?

    Thank you very much

    Hello Rory

I did the BIOS to be updated several times, but I've never seen this message at startup upward. • Tecra M2 does not start successfully - zeroes appear all over the screen

    Help!

My Tecra M2 does not start. After the toshiba logo, a series of zeros (0) appear all over the screen.

-suspect it is caused by a virus, I formatted the HD (in another PC), but still the zeros appear
-I might want to start in the DVD player, it seems to read the disc, but nothing happens, just a cursor flashing at the top left of the screen
-J' I reset / replaced the RAM, but still no effect.
-the power button works, lights and shuts the laptop but does not start.
    -CPU fan works
-LED indicators of work are power, battery, dvd, wireless. Does not have HD LED light on.

Any suggestions on how to solve this problem is greatly appreciated.
    See you soon!

    Hello

I think we can exclude HARD disk failure because you are able to format it in another computer.
As you suggest the RAM modules has been replaced but the problem persists
So in my opinion, a motherboard problem would be possible

But as you know, it of really difficult to say what might be exactly wrong
I think that the technician should check the laptop then it would be possible to say what part is malfunctioning

In any case, I think a motherboard might be affected

  • Tecra A6 does not start with battery only

    Hi all
I'm having a strange problem with a Tecra A6 I picked up recently at the refurb because it does not start with a battery only: it starts only when / sector is also connected, but eventually DΘmarrer on battery alone (and works fine) with the power cord removed shortly after pressing the power button. It's just on battery alone, I get no answer by pressing the power on button (so the power outlet must be set at this first stage or I don't get anything).

Now I'm wondering if maybe it's the battery voltage? It seems that there are 2 options for this model, a 10.8 v and the other at 11.1V. With loaded Windows and Hardware Monitor reports running the battery is at 0% wear level and cool until completely (so I don't think that the battery is faulty), but it indicates that the battery is running at * 11, 1V, * but the battery installed is actually the * model 10.8v*. Could that prevent any power on only to batteries?

More information on the model I have:
    Tecra A6-PTA60E-0EJ013EN
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0 Ghz
    2 GB of Ram.

Thanks in advance for any help on this one. Essential, I would like to know is if I have a 11.1V battery to run this model correctly (and get it) on battery alone. If the voltage makes no difference so I guess it must be a weird motherboard problem and I need bother not buy a new battery.

    > Will have to buy another battery and see if the same thing happens (I'll know then if it is the motherboard), but in the meantime if anyone can let me know if the voltage is serious I would appreciate it.

To my knowledge, the batteries for Tecra A6 should take in charge 10.8V
There's piles more strong for example 5200mAh but the voltage must be the same 10.8

  • Tecra M2 does not start

I'm new havoing problems with my Tecra M2. can someone point me in the right direction with regard to breakdowns, I had a glance on the forum and the threads associated with the Tecra range but cannot find all threads that match my problem.

In a short time, less than three days, I had a problem that began with the laptp re start when it has been moved to now does not start at all. All the lights are what I expect of them with the exception of the HARD drive indicator, that does not illuminate at the start of the boot sequence. Does that mean that my HARD drive or the connection at the disk has failed, measures of observation of fault that I can follow to confirm or deny my fears would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

If the HARD drive is faulty, then you should not be able to start the operating system, but you should be able to see the BIOS splash screen.
You see that? Are you abele to access the BIOS?
    Please check this!

To access the BIOS ESC and F1 press immediately after the laptop has been powered! If this is not possible then there might be something wrong with the motherboard or any other piece of hardware like RAM.

If you are able to access the BIOS, then you should check if the HARD drive is recognized in the BIOS.
You can also use the tool called Drive Fitness Test to verify the HARD drive!

  • Tecra 8000 does not start after the BIOS update

From one day to the other does not start my Tecra 8000 (400 MHz/256 MB BIOS 9.30 for years). After start-up, the disc starts to turn, but the screen including the backlight remains completely black, without red logo TOSHIBA BIOS is not accessible.

I got a new mainboard on stock, so I replaced it, and it worked. Unfortunately now my WLAN card now did not work properly. I tried several settings of the BIOS with no results, so I decided to do an update of the BIOS from 7.50 to 9: 30. After the upgrade, I get the message "ROM WRITE successful, utility completed. LEADER BIOS: Tecra8000 v 9,30 ". Because what either kept silent, I pressed the power button to restart and heard a long and many short beeps (endless). I could interrupt what pressing the powerbutton for 5s.

After turning on again I have the same problem as described in the first line :-( I can't get into the BIOS, but I can again update (with pressed F12). Once again these beeps.

What to do with these beeps after average BIOS update? I replaced the MoBo connector LED with pension. Processor, memory, keyboard and HD has remained the same. So, before I start disassembling the machine, please notify, your help is very appreciated.

    Hello Joachim

I'm not a technician and don t know what the beeps but I am afraid that the BIOS chip is damaged. Because of this, the unit is completely dead. Sorry, but I really don t believe you can do anything. Maybe the new motherboard again :(

  • Why Tecra A3 does not start from CD/DVD?

My laptop Tecra A3 does not react to the BIOS setting asking at the start of the CD/DVD.

CD/DVD is the first place in the list of bootable devices (defined through F12 in boot sequence) the operating system starts with the HD. I have a chance to start with a bootable CD!

    Hello

    I agree with go.
The ASP would be able to tell what means error.

Usually means short and 1 long: 0
So the error must be: 1010 1010
Due to the last significant bit (LSB), to be read by behind:
    So it now means: * 0101 0101 binary *-> it must be converted to hexadecimal-> * 55 Hex *.

Then, you will get a hex code.
But unfortunately, I m not very well which could mean this code

    So ask ASP for help!

  • Studio XPS 8100 does not start

Hello!  I have a 2010 studio xps 8100 (Intel (r) Core i7 CPU 860 to 2.80 GHz, 8 GB ram) and it's great when it works.  Last week, I was out of town and when I came back it would not start upward.  I can turn it on and start the fans, but it does not pass the POST and therefore does not start.  I tested the ram and it seemed ok (two beeps when trying to boot without ram, no beeps when ram is correctly placed).  The original of the graphics card died last year and I had it replaced with an EVGA Geforce GTX 750, I chose because it was one of the few cards that could work with the power supply 350w provided with your computer.  I thought that maybe the PSU was then replaced by a 500w PSU, but the problem persists.  I then read somewhere that if you SNYC date/time problems (which I was when the computer would turn on) that you need to replace the battery on the motherboard, so I did and still does not start.  I don't know what I can do, is the dead motherboard?  I tried the drain the power thing (release the button so that disconnected power for 30 seconds) and that didn't work either.

    maddygillis
Yes, but I'm sure that the battery is not the issue.  If it was I'd get stack codes error beep (5 beeps).

    Not necessarily...

    maddygillis
It does not pass the POST because it does not start...

If the video card is faulty, the PC can still start but you just do nothing appears on the monitor, so I don't know that you can actually say that it does not pass POST.

When you have tested the monitor with your laptop, did you use the same cable and video port on the monitor that you use with desktop? If you have used another port on the screen with the laptop with the office, this is not a fair test.

Have you tried reinstalling the video card into its slot and check the connections of the video cable at both ends?

This system has onboard video and Pluggable software component video card. So, you can remove the add-in card and switch the monitor to the onboard video port. According to the specifications, the onboard video has HDMI and DVI outputs, so assuming that your monitor supports either people, you have an easy way to test more.

NOTE: The embedded video ports are DISABLED unless you physically remove the video card. If you cannot move just the video cable to a built-in port while the video card is installed.

  • Re: Tecra S5 does not start

After the upgrade to win7 and sometimes having a blue screen when you start the following happened.

After blue screen once more, laptop is not starting at all.

The only thing that happens is that I see the upstartscreen (in touch with tomorrow TOSHIBA) and the icons at the bottom of the screen indicating the readers. Nothing happens any more, it does not start doe.

I can change by tapping F12 in a new boot through the CD rom boot procedure, but there is also no effect.

Also, it is not possible to enter the bios (esc + F1).

The keyboard works because, after a while each touch result is a short "beep".

I removed the battery for a while and tried again with no results.

If I can put my laptop by the ore basket is there a possibility to bring it to life

    Thanks in advance, Jos

On this virtual path, it is not easy to offer an accurate diagnosis, but somehow, I feel THAT BIOS is doomed.
Unplug the AC adapter / CC, remove the battery and press the power for 20 seconds. After doing this only connect the power supply and restart your laptop.

I don't have this model of laptop and I'm not sure to get into the BIOS but try also with F2.

  • Tecra M4 - does not start, no image on the monitor

My Tecra M4 will not start.
When I turn it on, all I hear is a quick check of the DVD player, a hum of hard drive and fan.

I tried an external monitor and still see nothing.
I also changed the ram, tried to start with disconnected HARD drive disconnected RTC battery for a while.

I don't see anything on the screen at any time.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi TheXenon,

In your case, I'll try this:
Remove the battery and the AC adapter at least an hour. Then reconnect the two and try to restart your laptop.

But at the moment for me that sounds like a hardware malfunction and you need help from a service allowed in your country. :(

  • Tecra 9100 does not start in windows-black display

    Hi, just found this forum.
I have problems with my old laptop Tecra 9100 that ive had since.
I stopped last night, started this morning and now is no longer boots.
It gets past the Toshiba screen and windows xp scroll bar screen seems in good condition.

But then the screen turns black and does not go to the XP login screen.
But windows does not work because if I press on enter newspapers in my profile (I hear the theme music for connection etc, and the HARD drive light is on, connect to windows...) It's just that I have no display at all?

I also tried an external monitor, always the same, Windows XP, scroll screen still appears, but nothing else appears on the display.

Any ideas? Hardware failure? (But the toshiba screen and 1 XP appears)? , Because the OS (even thought I can connect, although "blind")?

    Thank you

It's strange... I put t think that there is a hardware problem because you can see the Toshiba start screen and like you say the Windows starts.

My first thought was that your display is set to external monitor
Looks like you have tested and nothing appears on the second screen?  :|
    Which is really strange.

In any case after the laptop started try to use the key combination FN + F5 to switch to another screen, maybe it helps.

You can also try booting in safe mode. Press the F8 key at the beginning.
    Then choose Safe mode.

  • Tecra 8100 does not work after upgrading RAM

    Hello
    I bought a kingston KTT-SO815/256 pc100 144 pin, did a 2.50.on of my Tecra 8100 BIOS update
    It still does not.
In my BIOS total ram is ok, so the computer knows that it is in the slot B, but when I try to boot the computer to a blue screen appears necessary a bios update. (Already done) APCI is not good.
    Someone has an idea?
Now there is in the slot A - 64 MB
Tried to put 256 MB in the B slot
    them, that nothing worked changed

    Hello

Well, the blue screen error message usually appears because of the failure of the software matter or material. In case you I guess, apparently because of the new RAM.

The fact is that you can upgrade the memory to the maximum. 512 MB.
    These modules are compatible:
    PC100 256 MB (PA3051U-1NME)
    PC100 128 MB (PA3005U)
    PC100 64 MB (PA3004U)

I recommend that you check you modules and try to use another compatible.

  • Tecra S1 does not start and hangs at the splash screen (boot)

    Tecra S1 model PT831E-107EQ-GR

Problems started a month ago. Randomly, he didn't not started. After some power or off attempts it finally started and worked properly. I bought a new hard drive (Toshiba 40 GB) because it happened more often. I got Acronis True Image and planned to clone a disk to the new disk. The problem is that a cell phone now won't start any more so I can't boot from a CD or hard drive. It stops at the logo 'In Touch... "with text" Press [F12] for boot device selection menu ' and does not react any key. I tried to boot with no CD, no disk hard - the same thing. I also connected internal HD using ATA to USB adapter - even. This means that it is not a disk problem but motherboard, or other components? Is it possible to get into the BIOS before boot selection screen?

    Kind regards
    Jacek

    Hello Jacek

Try to enter the BIOS to ESC settings initially upwards.
The question is strange and I do not think that anyone here can offer the exact diagnosis. The fact is, you can use multiple bootable devices but if there is something wrong with the motherboard HARD drive CD/DVD doesn't work. CD/DVD or HARD disk controller is maybe defective.
