Tecra A2 - message "NTLDR is missing".

Hi all.
My Tecra A2 has been left uncharged for about 12 months until yesterday when I fully loaded.
When I turned on I have the Toshiba screen, then Cmos settings should be corrected.
After the time and date setting, he went straight to NTLDR is missing.
Any ideas?

Hey,.

First of all, make sure that your laptop is trying to boot from the HARD drive. Check again the BIOS options and internal HARD drive as first boot device.

If this doesn t it s something wrong with the sector of boot and in this case, you need to reinstall Windows. :(

I have an older system that I have tried to re - load windows XP Home on.  The installation failed, and now when I try to re - install using my drive, it keeps giving me the NTLDR error there lack.  What else do I need to do, the first time this has happened to me.

Go into the BIOS and change the boot option so that the CD-ROM drive is set to be the 1st boot device, the hard drive or the 2nd Boot Device.  To enter the BIOS, you must press a certain button when the computer begins to start and do VALIDATE tests, you should see the information on the screen telling you which key press to enter setup, on those old Dells most common keys were DEL or F2.  See here for typical BIOS options and see here for BOOT options

  • "NTLDR is missing. Press CTRL-ALT-DEL to restart"is the error message I get every time I try to go on my laptop. What can I do to solve this problem, help!

I use a Packard Bell laptop and this happens everytime I try to turn on my computer. When I restart it, the same message so I'm never able to use it. Your help will be very appreciated.

    Hi THOBO90,

    1. When did you start to question?

This problem may occur if the MFT root folder is very fragmented. If the MFT root folder contains many files, the MFT might become fragmented to an additional allocation index is created.

Try the following steps to resolve the problem:

    Step 1:

Boot with the Windows XP CD in Recovery Console.

    b. Copy NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM on C: drive i386 folder.

    c. attempts to boot to the desktop.

If not able, follow these steps.

    Step 2:

In Recovery Console, run 8 following commands (press ENTER after each line):

    a. CD of the

    b. ATTRIB C:\boot.ini h

    c. ATTRIB C:\boot.ini-s

    d. ODILE r C:\boot.ini

    e. del boot.ini

    f. BOOTCFG /Rebuild

    g. Add to the startup folder

    Step 3:

If you can start Windows, but get a message saying that the boot.ini file is not valid.

a.Create a new boot.ini in Notepad and saved on the hard drive.

    EXAMPLE:

    [boot loader]

    timeout = 30 default = multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS

    [operating systems]

"multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Edition family.

  • NTLDR is missing - T61

    Hello

I copied mistalkenly file associated with ntduser and others in my C: / drive in a folder. At the next reboot it made me get this message "NTLDR is missing".

Now that I know to move the file ntuser.dat from my location of folder in C: / location, but how can I do. I don't have the XP CD, nothing like that was given to me when I bought it.

Please let me know if there is a way to open the prompt at boot time so that I can copy the file and restart once again?

    ideas? pls help!

You can start the computer from a linux live CD free and move the files. Try ubuntu.com, burn it to a CD-ROM disc and start with the option to not change anything on your system. It will only run linux from the CD and you will be able to access all your drives and folders.

There is no way to start a command without OS work prompt

Worst case if you need a copy of windows, I may be able to help, if necessary send me a PM and we can discuss it, but as long as you know exactly how to fix a bootdisc linux would be easier. Another option would be a CD WinPE (preinstallation envionment). Similar to a live CD of linux, it will let you use windows on a CD-ROM disc, but a large part of the BONE has been paralyzed for cannot it be used as a complete operating system, Linux however IS a complete operating system and can be run from the cdrom, usb or HDD.

  • HP Deskpro 405 G2: ntldr is missing

Brand new computer. Started A right the first time. I started to do on one of the obtained reboots and updates microsoft error message "NTLDR is missing", press ctrl + alt + delete. I have a Maxtor 500 GB HDD attached and which caused no problems on the first couple of reboots. I plugged in my phone to load and the error message received when you restart. Unplugged phone and began searching for answers and it seems like a number of boot sequence? Now, the only way to avoid this error message is to disconnect the external hard drive.  I need transfer old information as well as the use of this hard drive on the new computer. I would get a good answer, insofar as what is happening instead of trying this and that corrects. Thanks if anyone can help out me.

    Hello

Disconnect all devices not HP.  Your computer is trying to boot from a non bootable device.  You will probably have to reorganize the default settings of the boot device.

You can always connect external USB devices after startup.

  • When I turn on my computer, I get a black screen that says "NTLDR is missing" or "NTLDR is compressed".

    original title: NTLDR missing/Tablet

I have a Gateway laptop that "turns" Windows XP (512 MB / 80 GB SATA in 2006).  It is slow, but it works--or he did until last night.
While putting 'him' in a simple test, she landed and after salvation 3 fingers (Ctrl, alt, delete) to restart, it refused
to move further beyond the initial blue screen; I could not connect.  Frustration led me out of disk OS reboot of the manufacturer and
had to it.  Not only did the function "backup" first, but if I deleted everything and tried to start again the thought, the system would work.
    No luck.

Now, after I turn it on, all I get is a black screen with the message "NTLDR is missing" or "NTLDR" compressed alternation.
I read a few posts here with "solutions", but my system does not allow me to type anything other than Ctrl/alt/delete.  I can't type a
unique character; the cursor will move to the command prompt. Unfortunately finances prohibiting my taking it for a "workshop" for repairs, so I'm really stuck.
Can someone please tell me how to get the cursor to move, or how I can adjust the system to its old self?  Please?

  • How can I fix "NTLDR is missing" for free

I get the message "NTLDR is missing". Where can I download this fix for free?

If you have a genuine bootable CD install XP, you can get the file from there.

Given that most of the people have a genuine XP bootable installation CD, if you need an idea and a method to replace then drop without the genuine XP bootable installation CD.

If you do not have a genuine XP bootable installation CD, I would locate a replacement on a working system file or download it, copy it to a USB device or a diskette and then just use the Recovery Console to replace the missing file and be on your way.

I would also recommend that you use the Recovery Console to run chkdsk /r on your system.

You can then copy the missing ntldr file from a functional system or download it on my SkyDrive:

    http://CID-6a7e789cab1d6f39.Office.live.com/Browse.aspx/.documents?UC=1

Place the file ntldr on a USB device or the floppy drive, boot your system on a CD from Recovery Console or a Hiren boot CD you can do (no XP media required for either) and simply copy the file missing to your system and still be on your way.

    Everything is free.

Please provide additional information on your system:

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a CD/DVD drive work?

You have a true bootable XP installation CD (it is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

Do, or do not. There is no test.

  • "NTLDR is missing"... do you have I wipe all my father-in-law laptop?

I tried to make a backup in the file of my father-in-law 2006 hp laptop running Windows XP. It would allow me to make the backup file, so I clicked 'OK' and the computer restarted. When he returned, the error message "NTLDR is missing" came. The corrupted backup file does not appear on my external hard drive.

    What should I do?

  • NTLDR is missing. Press CTR + ALT + DELETE to restart?

Hello. I downloaded a patch for Windows XP so that I could access Windows XP's built-in skinner to install themes. I got it here.

    http://www.Softpedia.com/get/desktop-enhancements/themes/UxTheme-patch-for-Windows-XP-SP2-final.shtml/
Instructions for installing it are lower than the description of the file.
After that I restarted my computer as he said, I get an error when you try to start.
"NTLDR is missing. Press CTR + ALT + DEL to restart"
It is in a loop like this. I read online that I need my Windows XP CD to fix it, but I didn't do it, it's a cheap laptop. And also, I read that it could be fixed with a CD/DVD, but I have nothing and my other computer is a Mac, if that makes a difference.
I really want this to be fixed! Thank you!

    Hi Qwedgeonline,

It is important to have a Windows XP CD that this issue should be fixed because the files required to repair the operating system are on the CD.
