Tecra A7 - upgrading to Win7

I have a Tecra A7 (PTA71A-IEU003) and want to upgrade to Windows 7.

On the website of reading I find that my machine is not listed as extensible. I see
Some people did and wished to know if they have had no major problems and machine works ok.

I also tested Win7 on some older portable Satellite and Win7 installation succeeded.
Just try. Everything that can happen is that you will not be able to use certain features specific to Toshiba because of lack of Toshiba tools and utilities, but in general I put t think you should have some big problems.

Let Win7 drivers and search what you can also try is to check if you can use some Vista drivers, tolls or utilities.

There was a discussion here ("Tecra 8100 - upgrade RAM") on the upgrade memory.
He said that for TECRA 8000 - capacity maximum 256 MB memory (2 x 128). (unlike TECRA 8100 - which can be upgraded to 512)

Does anyone know if the BIOS change may allow 512 MB with TECRA 8000?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hello

I don t think that after updating the BIOS on the Tecra 8000, you will be able to use the 512 MB of memory.
Like you said you can use max 256 MB (2 x 128 MB SDRAM)

I just bought a Win7 update to finally get rid of my Vista.  I had automatic updates of Vista from day one and it is completely up to date after the update of Windows.  However, when I go to install the upgrade to Win7, it won't let me because it says I need Service Pack 1 installed on my Vista.  When I return to the WIndows update, it won't let me because he thinks that it is up-to-date.  What can I do?

  • Considering the upgrade to Win7

Since the upgrade to Win7 for my new computer, I bought in Italy, which has Windows Vista installed with Italian language settings. Is there an option during the upgrade to get the English version of Win7?

    Hello

You cannot change your language in Home Premium. It is only possible in Ultimate and Enterprise.

MUIs are exclusive to Ultimate and can be found via the option Update updates Windows.

Run Upgrade Advisor before you begin the installation.

    Good luck!

  • upgrade to win7 ultimate (win7 home pro) I have to disable MSE?

Upgrade to win7 ultimate MSDN Version (OEM win7 home pro) I have to disable MSE?

I expected to get a Yes or no answer (e.g. YES, they are all three from MicroSoft product, that's why they work perfectly without disable MicroSoft Security Essentials; or NOT, they are all three EM produsts then, of course, you must disable MSE!)

It shouldn't be a problem when you upgrade.

In case you are facing any problem after upgrade, uninstall MSE and restart your PC and download and reinstall. However in the case of normal use, it shouldn't be a problem.

  • I upgraded to win7 starter to win7 pro with a clean install

IM missing 3 drivers that the manufacturer of laptops would not give to me the notebook is an Acer ZE7 they told me that they have not recommend an upgrade to win7 pro. sounds really fishy to me I need to level 5 more portable win7 pro.

Please help me with an answer as soon as POSSIBLE

I suggest you to reinstall Windows 7 Starter and use Windows Anytime Upgrade to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional. Personally, I can't find any information on this model. Anytime Upgrade will reduce the headache. Windows 7 Starter and professionals are based on the same kernel, so the same driver will work for 3 lack of pilots. Reinstall Windows 7 Starter using the tools of recovery of manufacturers.

If the license for Windows 7 Professional, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade from Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Professional. First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Professional on demand, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional your files, programs and settings retained.

  • Tecra M11 - 17z - Question about upgrade to Win7 32 bit to 64 bit

    I have a Tecra M11 - 17z with the pre-installed OS 32 - bit Windows 7 Professional.
I want to change the 64-bit operating system.

For this I have to do a 'clean' custom install the 64-bit system.
As this is a new laptop and the software bundle that came with the laptop can be downloaded I don't mind to do this.

Do I have to buy a new Windows 7 Professional to clean install 64-bit?
Where is the best place to go for the software needed?

    Ideas and help very appreciated.

    > Should I buy a new Windows 7 Professional to clean install 64-bit?
I guess the image pre-installed on this laptop contains just 32boit version of Win 7.
So yes, you need to buy a Win 7 64 bit Microsoft Disk in order to install the 64-bit version.

    > Where is the best place to go for the software needed?
You can purchase Win 7 64 bit across most of the stores online like Amazon is a hotel and I think it would be the easiest and fastest way to get to this

    Hello

Never solved this problem, I have the same problem with my Tecra R840. I have windows 10 initial installation when it was first released, however had the freezing issue (System fan would also begin running at 100%, that is very strong but whole machine was locked and would require a hard reset). After a few weeks of this question, that I started Windows 7 and which would be fine.

However, just tonight I thought I would try the anniversary 10 Windows Update to see if that had solved the problem, unfortunately the same problem persists. After you have installed update Windows 10 anniversary (updated to Windows 7), the laptop freezes still. There a simple 3 minutes after connecting the fan turns 100%, and everything froze upwards.

Thoughts/ideas or help here would be appreciated?

    See you soon

  • Tecra A2 - Upgrade 40 GB HARD drive to something bigger

    Here's my laptop specs.

    Tecra A2-104: Intel® Celeron®...
    Part number: PTA20E-07701QEN
    Main features
    Processor Intel® Celeron® M 330 (1.40 GHz)
    Windows XP Professional
    1 GB OF RAM DDR
    40 GB hard drive. Speed - 4200 RPM. Certification - S.M.A.R.T

Could someone advise me as to what type of HDD would be better that the current one is not just big enough. I don't want to go buy one and realize that it does not work.

    Thank you

    Hi duff321,

Upgrade the HARD drive is usually no problem because it s not delicate procedure and if you buy a HARD drive with more RPM (revolutions per minute) and something more grand (120 GB for example) your computer should work a little faster had more high density of data.

Anyway, motherboards with IDE controller have limitation of LBA 28 bits, which means that you can use hard disks up to 128 GB or with other words 120 GB would be the maximum capacity of the HARD drive and it should be ok because he three times as much as on the old HARD drive.
I can recommend for example of hard drives from Western Digital, but all other brands should work correctly.

Just take a look at a few online shops or ask your authorized service provider.

  • Tecra 8100 - upgrade RAM and HARD drive

    Hello
I just got a Toshiba Tecra 8100. I do not have this small a HHD and I wanted to know what size I can get it up to. I know y thread already asked this same question, but the technology continues to go better then perhaps there are HHD I can get.

I am also wanting to upgrade the RAM. I've seen places that sell 144pin PC100 512 MB and I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade this 2 of them or not.

    Any input would be great!
    Thank you
    Doug

    Hello!

The Tecra 8100 was delivered with HARD s up to 20 GB drive. I'm pretty sure that this laptop has a limitation of LBA 28 bits ([www.48bitlba.com]).
I put t know what HARD drive you have at the moment, but a hard HARD 40 GB or 60 GB would work in this good old classic.

In addition, the Tecra 8100 can be upgraded to 512 MB of RAM. So that you can t upgrade your laptop to more RAM.

    Good bye
