Tecra A9 bios (PTS52E) half visible?

Hello

I have several problems with my laptop Tecra A9.

By pressing F12 will not let me choose a boot device (cd/LAN/usb/ect..) Off the coast of Toshiba helpdesk told me to try pressing 'c' at startup to boot from the cd, but it does not work as well...
In the BIOS I see only half on the first page (I can't switch to other pages with page up/down!) so I can not change the startup for example options...

One?

PS: there is nothing wrong with the F12 key or the boot devices (cd/lan/usb) works (in an operating system such as XP/linux)

Usually the F12 or on the button C should be pressed immediately after turning on.
I have keys always the several times to make sure that the start option has been detected.

But I wonder about this sentence:
+ In the BIOS I see only half on the first page (I can't switch to other pages with page up/down!) so I can not change the boot options for the instance.

I think there must be something wrong with hardware or BIOS and I fear that he needed the help of ASP m!

You can change/clear the password and the policy settings using the password of Toshiba.

  • Problem of Tecra M5 BIOS update

Just tried again and it says "Could not create"C:\TOSHBIOS. " UPD file! "I don't know what is happening more.

    Hello

    The P003Fv370.exe is a package.
Right click on that package and select unpack here.
Now you should see the other folders inside this .exe package.

From my knowledge, it takes a file that starts the BIOS update.

If it won't work, I guess you need the original preinstalled system Toshiba update BIOS.
The other hand I n t think that BSOD appears due to the old version of the BIOS.
I guess that the update does not solve the problem.

Maybe the BSOD appears due to a problem of critical software or hardware issues so would be really interesting to know if the same thing happens with the help of preinstalled Toshiba system

I want to update the bios of my Tecra 8100.
I downloaded the bios, but the pc has no floppy, I cooked up a cd bootable like this

When I start the pc, F2, press c to boot from the CD-ROM, I get in a dos environment. I went to the drive Z, "dir" and see the bios.exe that I've burned to cd. To run it I type bios.exe and continue to be 'command unrecognized file name' when I type dir *.exe, he does not see the file either.

    Hello

Your described method does not apply to Toshiba laptops.
Each computer laptop manufacturers supports various BIOS update procedures

    Toshiba on this page we:
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/downloadDetail.jsp?soID=356848&PF=true
Here you can download the latest version of the BIOS for Tecra 8100

The 4810.25 package must be unpacked everything first.
Then you should check the files available.
There is a readme.txt file that describes how to update BIOS using the ISO to CD.

    I hope I could help

  • Tecra 9100 - BIOS block 1 damaged and the update of the BIOS?

    Hello

I have an old Tecra 9100 with years of quality service, and it is my first problem, but is a great, after a forced restart the display shows the message BIOS 1 damaged block. I tried to fix the BIOS upgrade to the latest version I found, the 1.6 one, but it is a version of Windows (to upgrade a Toshiba computer I think) and when I try to run it in another computer to generate a floppy and upgrade the BIOS drive, I can't, because a common message from modules of Toshiba.

Its there any floppy BIOS image - archive I can download to perform the BIOS update the BIOS?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

All you can find is stuff on the Toshiba support page. I don't know where you live, but try to contact nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer.

  • Re: Tecra M9 bios update without windows

    I have a Tecra M9 runs only [Opensolaris 2009.06 | http://opensolaris.org/os/downloads/] on this subject.
Is it possible to do a Bios Update (acutally I have 1.50)

Is there an ISO image or back - tools so I can create my own ISO image...

    Thank you
    GerryH

    Hello

I doubt you'd be able to update the BIOS on the Opensolaris OS.

The Toshiba page provides only focused on the victory of the BIOS, which means that you need to install windows to update the BIOS.

The traditional BIOS version allowing you to update the BIOS by using the USB disk is not available for download.

I think that only FSA (authorized service providers) availability to perform a BIOS update using the diskette.

  • Tecra M5 - BIOS version 3.5 is a real update?

The 'last' available BIOS is 3.5. Yet, I am currently sub 7.1 downloaded a few months back.
    Is a true 3.5 update?

    Hello

Where did you get the version 7.1 of Bios for Tecra M5?
Have you found on the European driver Toshiba page?

Well, to my knowledge Toshiba provides different BIOS. Some BIOS versions are compatible with XP and others only with Vista. And there is also a BIOS that can handle the XP and Vista together.

The European driver Toshiba page indicates that the BIOS version 3.5 is OS independent.
So I presume he manages two operating systems; XP and Vista.

Unfortunately, I can't say anything about version 7.1 of BIOS because it s I don't not known.
There is no information about it on the page of the Toshiba driver :(

    Best regards

  • Tecra M5 BIOS is not compatible with Windows Vista

Hello, I ran the Vista Upgrade Advisor from Microsoft, and he pointed out that the BIOS on my Tecra M5 was not compatible with Vista and to contact Toshiba. I am running version 1.7 - the most recent available I think. Toshiba will release a version that will be compatible with Vista, or a fix so that I can run Vista on my M5?

I forgot to mention that the machine is a M5 UK (PTM51E)
    Thank you very much

    David

    Hello

I guess Tecra M5 Vista capable label. Am I wrong?

I know for each unit of Vista, laptop manufacturer will offer the proper BIOS version, as well as drivers, tools and utilities.

In short time Vista will be placed on the market and after the official launch, all this kind of stuff should be available on download page.

  • A few questions on the Tecra M7: BIOS, memory, drivers

    1. How will I know how my 1 GB of RAM is set to the device: 2 * 512 or 1 * 1 GB? I want to know that for a possible update.
    2. How can I access BIOS?
    3. I want to upgrade to Windows Vista, and I ask the necessary information on the Web site specified in my documentation. Yet, no sign of them. Other users of Tecra M7 have some sort of experience with this?

    Hello

I m not a Tecra m7 owner but I would like to clear some things:

(1.) I recommend using the diagnostic application of 3rd party like Everest Home edition to see what has been installed or not ;)
(2.) to access the BIOS, please try the ESC button. It s a BIOS Toshiba and then ESC and then F1 should work.
(3.) I don't recommend upgrading the operating system to Vista right now if you want to use the features of all laptop. Why? Its simply-> there are no drivers for Vista. We will have to wait

    Hello

Pilot site Toshiba says that the 1.3 BIOS Tecra S2 was released on 06/19/2006
It seems that it s not a final version of Vista and therefore it s is not compatible with Vista.

Unfortunately, everything that you expect the Vista installation until the new version of the BIOS is available.
