Tecra M7: Cannot partition the disk with partition magic

Hello

I got my new M7 with one big partition, makes it very difficult to create Drive Image backups.
When I tried to partionate the HD I had an error in the magic of partition, that partition was not properly disassembly.

How can I solve the problem? Urgent, I'm wanting to create a picture of the system of fees before I use more my M7.

Thanks in advance and Shine On, Frank

Hello

I had a similar problem, create a second partition with partition magic.
After a long time of investigation, I found the right solution
The magic of the scores could not create the second partition because the files on the HARD disk are not defragmented.

First I ran chckdsk and after restarting again, I defragmented the HARD drive.
It's a key!

I understand what you say, I have created a disk of asm with 500 MB of size using asmtool, so I can't resize using asm instance.

    1. What is the use of asmtool-added option, we can add an existing using this command drive space?

This isn't for adding space, but it adds the label to the disk partition...
    asmtool - add \Device\Harddisk1\Partition1 ORCLDISKASM0
    >

2 can you please explain this more, * it could be increased if you already held 300 total asm 500 disk space *?

Think like OS, you have created a 10 GB partition for disk D:\ example. And now, you create files/folders with size of hugh (as some movies ;)) to drive D:\, so eventually your drive D:\ will fill. This is the case even with your asm disk, once you have used all your available space of the asm disk (that you created through asmtoll), you can not increase.
By asmtool - create D:\Asm_disks\disk3 500, you assign the total size to 300 from the asm disk. Just as you add 10 GB partition for OS...

You come to the backup from my point of view: it could be increased if you already worked 300 asm disk space total 500

I have created the disk with the following text:
    asmtool - create 500 D:\Asm_disks\disk3 > size is 500

    I create diskgroup with
SQL > create diskgroup DB 'D:\Asm_disks\disk3' size disc 300; > Here I wll use only max 300 size of 500 total. So once I get to the threshold of 300, I can increase the asm disk up to 500.
    As
SQL > alter diskgroup DB resizing disk "D:\Asm_disks\disk3' size 500; > Increasing up to 500

Default if the clause you SIZE omit while creating a diskgroup, asm then disc occupies all the available space of the device that you have created by asmtool

    >

    3. What is meant occupation here, not here where we can control the right of occupancy?

We can control as I explained.

Tecra M5 cannot enter the BIOS to change the setting too boot from cd first

I bought on ebay and the seller sold me a dubious version of xp so I want to format and install my own at the start he said:

The Intel Boot Agent GE v1.2.31 initialization
KE - E05: the LAN adapter's configuration is corrupted or has not been initialized. Boot agent cannot continue

    Hello

The message looks like you tried to boot and install Windows LAN

If you want to change the boot order, I recommend pressing the F12 key, immediately after that the laptop was turned on!

A new start menu should appear, then you can choose the reader of CD/DVD (ODD) and a boot device.

Also by pressing the C button should allow you to boot from the CD inserted, bootable.

  • Tecra A10 - cannot change the settings of the BIOS with supervisor password enabled

    Hello
I activated a supervisor for 1.50 acpi BIOS password.

Since then, I am not able to change the settings (for example etc. - the right of the screen of the BIOS boot order does no more).
I access the bios with pressing ESC on the boot process, then F1 when prompted "" check system, then press [F1] key. Problem is that I don't ask the supervisor password.
There should be a prompt for the supervisor password, but it's not. So I am not able to connect as a supervisor.
I know I can manually change the boot sequence by pressing F12 during startup, but this strict solve my problem.

Have you tried to update the BIOS? On the Toshiba site, I can find a newer version that you have right now. Check it!

Before setting a supervisor password load default settings in the BIOS and then you can set the password and try again. Maybe it works.

  • HP ProLiant DL160 - cannot create the data with local storage (controller, no RAID) store

Hi all. I appreciate your time and comments.

Using VMware ESXi (initially), installation (VMware ESXi 5.5.0, 1331820) will very well (install on USB). Able to enter in the console of the vSphere Client, everything seems normal. Any attempt to use local storage, however, is filled with this error message: http://i.imgur.com/40ySsOS.png

"It was not correct to specified parameters. Vim.Host.DiskPartitionInfo.spec"-" 'HostStorageSystem.ComputerDiskPartitionInfo' call for object 'storage system' on ESXi "< ip address >" failed. "

I tried both the base (from VMware) installation disc and the "Custom" (HP) HP installation disk. Both have the same problem: all facilities, but local disks - as seen while - are not able to serve local storage. It worked very well (previous incarnation was as Server 2003 file server, no reported\noticed questions). It's not under warranty, its going to be used as a laboratory server. All this seems to work well.

    Specifics:

    HP DL160 G6

    Discs: 3 G MDL 500 GB 7200

Can someone point me in the right direction on what to go here? Research on the error messages do not lead to a lot of help. I'll get more pending. I would be grateful.

This could be a problem with the current data on the disk. I suggest clean you the partition info using the DD explained to the KB VMware: Troubleshooting in the add storage Wizard error: cannot read this disk partition information to see if that solves the problem.

  • Cleaning the disk with DiskPart

Recently I came across a problem with Windows 7, which has been resolved, as a temporary solution, by reinstalling Windows without formatting. This was done in order not to lose personal data. Everything works fine now, and I was able to recover and back up my files with success.

This is the thread where I explain and solve my problem: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/software-os/f/3524/t/19628693

Now I find myself with a disk full of junk, and I want to do a clean install of windows, to make a new start.

I read through the tutorials of Philip (he solved my problem in the thread above) on a clean install of Windows 7, but I am concerned about the way DiskPart>own all the will affect my RAID 0 volume. I currently have 2 500 GB Hard Drives in a RAID 0 array using the Intel rapid storage technology configuration (I believe it's called fakeRAID, but I don't really know much about it), in a single volume of 1 TB.

It will clean just the volume, maintaining the partitions and RAID 0 configuration? (there is also a starting Dell Diagnostics partition)

Or it will completely wipe disks, removal of partitions and make the disks separate non-RAID? If so how do I set this up once again, after the failure of the readers? Will I need to perform any additional installation before installing Windows again?

In addition, the Dell Support site lists an update of firmware for my HD model under the SATA menu, but I read somewhere to NOT apply this update to a RAID drive. I want to apply this update if this can help in some way with the performance of the readers, because I had problems with them before: one of them breaks down randomly, with a slight clicking noise, but recovers after a few restart the system without any problem. Yet, I don't know how to do this, and I don't want to ruin it. If this update help, how can I install it and when?

I have a Dell XPS 8300 desktop PC (end of 2010), Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and I want to reinstall the same version.

My HD are the two ST3500413AS Barracuda Seagate 500 GB, records of members of a RAID 0 array controlled by technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology.

  • Tecra S3 - cannot access the configuration of the BIOS 2 Page / can not peripheral chance to start

    Hello!

I just bought a laptop Tecra S3 from ebay.
I turned it on a TI said "NTLDR is missing". Good I thing the guy who sold it has erased its data from the hard drive, no problem I'll install a new Windows XP.
    But... now the problem.
When the laptop iss merchandising, I hold down the 'ESC' key, then press 'F1' for the BIOS.
    Everything is fine.
But I can not go on the Page 2 of the BIOS. PGUP/PGDOWN has failed. I also tried with an external keyboard.
I read that the manual (PDF) that says "Hit F12 to go to the Bootdevice selection."
    But that din't work.
At the start of the laptop it does show that for a second half the Toshiba screen, even when I hit F12.

What can I do to make the laptop CD/DVD boot? Or how can I enter the bootscreen or BIOS Page 2?

    Greetings from the Germany,
    Holger

Start your laptop and press F12 to get into the boot menu.
Has chosen the CD/DVD drive and press ENTER.

Optical drive will serve as first boot device.

You can also try with the C key.

Place the bootable disk in the disk drive, start your laptop and press the C key several times. This will force it's STRANGE to be the first boot device.

  • Tecra A4 cannot read recovery disks

I am trying to rebuild my Tecra A4 software.
When I bought it in 2005, I did the recovery discs as recommended by using Sony CDR 700 MB disks.

Now the CD-DVD do not read them.
The discs are good, that I've explored them before (a while back), I can Explorer on another computer.

The Tecra open commercial discs (e.g., printer put in place of the disks, etc.), but does not open the discs that were burned itself (for example, whether previously on the Tecra or another computer). I tired the Sony recovery discs, I tried CD - RW Fuji disks, I tired Memorex, MB 100 CD - R discs.

None of them will work. Driver is up-to-date.
I cleaned the lens. Still no luck.
    Any suggestions?

Otherwise, how can I get a reconstruction of the initial state of the software as new on the system?
I have an original XP disc that is generic to Microsoft.

However, I don't want to go this route because I'm pretty sure that Toshiba uses all sorts of drivers that are not available from MS, nor readily available on the net without having to pay someone for them.

    > The Tecra open commercial discs (e.g., printer put in place of the disks, etc.), but does not open the discs that were burned self (for example, whether previously on the Tecra or another computer).

In this case, to all CD/DVD players, that I had the same problem, because not all readers are compatible with all the disks that are on the market
I think that is known to you

However, this problem could be related to a hardware malfunction since the reader of the s laptop has been used 5 years long, it s the s drive laser lens can not calibrate correctly because of the stress of use

It must be said that you can try to burn the recovery disk using another computer and then you could try to restore the operating system using the burned recovery disk.
