Tecra S3: battery fully discharged if it is off for a week

IA´ve got a Tecra S3:
Numtxpackets® Centrino? ¢ Mobiltechnologie Numtxpackets® Pentiuma® M processor 760
XP Pro / 1024 DDR2 / 80 GB/15.0 "TFT / DVD-Super-Multi (DL) / Wi - Fi"

I mainly work with power supply. Sometimes I need the battery.
But when I use the battery, it discharge completely.
Once the battery is recharged during the night.

When my S3 is off for a week,
my battery is completely drained and the S3 needs of current alternative.

Is this normal?
Why my battery is completely discharged
If the S3 is gone for a week only.

Hello

The fact is that the battery loses power also if the laptop is turned off.
I'm not sure about the time and how long it takes.
The same thing on my old Satellite A50.
I thing depends on the performance of the battery and how old is the battery.

  • X 300 dual battery fully discharged battery error critical

I kept my Thinkpad X 300 for two weeks and fully discharged batteries. Now when I plug it in, the charging light lights up for about a minute, then turns off again for five minutes. If I press the power button, I see a "critical battery error' BIOS. The two batteries are installed, and both are Lenovo authentic, recently replaced and in good condition. I'm in Chile, where the power is 220 vold, cycle 50, which was not a problem in the past or for my other laptops. Ten minutes before that happened, it worked well.

I thought about it. The wire just before the power supply was frayed internally and worked intermittently. I got a new CAP welded to the and now all is well again.

    Hello

I have this laptop for a few weeks and his strange behavior. Lets say I use this connected to AC and the battery is charged to 100%. When I disconnect from AC from one day to the next and connect it again in the morning, he begins to charge the battery, even if it is charged to 100%. It charges the battery for 5-10 minutes.
Does anyone have a similar experience?

Other portable wait until the battery level reaches about 95% before loading. Is there a way I can influence this behavior? I guess that this short of frequent charges is not good for the duration of battery life.

    Thanks for your opinions.

As Akuma has suggested, it's a normal question.
Nothing unusual, because the battery loses power even the laptop is turned off.

    Hello

This is definitely not normal. I think you need a new battery. That this be enabled by service. You still have warranty, so it will be free.

  • Portege R200 - battery discharging when it is off

Hi bought a Toshiba R200 in Australia about 2-3 months with the standard battery and long battery life. My problem is that even when I turn the machine off of the battery discharges (i.e. it is not hibernating or it is suspended). For example, I left the computer off for 4 days and he did not. When I came back and used the main battery was down to 60%, and the extended battery also fell to about 60% (both were full when I left). It loses about 10% per day. I have never experienced this before in the 5 notebooks dell/toshiba, that I had before.

It may not be my use of the batteries because I rarely use the machine away from its AC adapter. Most batteries have maybe 10 complete charge/discharge cycles since I got it. Also, if I'm not running on battery I get about 7-8 hours of battery life with the main battery and extended (which is normal) so it doesn't seem like "memory effect" of the battery.

I am trying to disconnect the batteries from the computer for a few days check if it is the battery or the computer, however I just wanted to know if anyone has ideas or experiences with this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Believe me it's normal. In my laptop the same thing happened. During the night, there is deficit of 3 5% of the battery capacity. Don t you worry about it. Only what you can do is to do something to maximize the battery life.

For the Nickel metal hydride batteries (NiMH) battery will be better hold a charge if allowed to meet at least once a week. The chemical reactions that correspond to load and unload a rechargeable battery in case to get the maximum number of cycles of charge/discharge of the battery.

It is not necessary to remove the battery from the computer during the week when it is on current alternative.

Google all over the place. You can find lots of useful information on the laptop battery.

On this forum, you can find similar discussions, and many users have reported on this known issue. I just hope you have charged the battery on track as described in s operating manuals.

    Good bye

  • The release of blackBerry Z10 Z10 battery when the phone is turned off

If I fully charge the battery and leave it on the phone, after a few days the battery shows 100% when I insert and turn it on. If I load completely and let in the phone with the phone turned off, the battery will discharge all night. Battery draining is 100% to 5% in 4-5 hours during the day. Nothing unusual in the monitor of the device.

I reset the phone to factory settings, the same thing is happening. I pulled the battery then connected etc etc, no change. I tried with radio and wireless off.

The sound quality is "tinny" when a call with volume turned up, could there be a hardware failure inside causing the discharge? The proximity of the enclosure of the power button would indicate a problem with the on/off switch button also the speaker?

    Thank you in advance.

The most common problem causing drain the battery of all equipment electronic is a capacitor shorted short, suggests that you send it for repair.

    Hello.. :)

I have a Toshiba Qosmio X 300-158. I just 3 months. I noticed that, after I turn on the laptop the second day, I think that the battery is up to 96 ~ 97%. Usually, I unplug the power cord from the laptop. I also unplug all devices when it is unplugged and off. I don't know why this is happening.

My history of the battery, most of the time when I start to charge the battery, it's about 40 ~ 60% rename. It was just once when he was completely drained. I know it was bad :(

    Any help or advice?

    Thanks :)

    Hello

Don t be to worry about this. It of normal that the battery will discharge between 2 and 4% of the battery for a rear stop/switch on the cycle. In addition, the battery recalibrates whenever it returns stop of sate.
Alternative you can remove the battery and only works on AC/DC adapter.

Can I ask you first what laptop and what system you have exactly?
Despite the fact that most battery problems are hardware related (malfunction of the battery), you should try this workaround:

Go to the Device Manager and remove the compatible control method battery Microsoft ACPI devices list and allow Windows to scan your computer for the hardware and reinstall the drivers necessary to manage the battery power.

Below is a step by step instruction:

    1. in Windows 8, hold down the Windows key and press the 'x' key to open a menu at the bottom left, and then select Device Manager. In Windows 7 or Windows Vista, click Start and type device in the search for field, and then select Device Manager.

    2 expand the batteries category.

    3. under the batteries category, right-click in the list of Microsoft ACPI compatible with battery control method and choose uninstall.
    * Note: * Don t remove the Microsoft AC adapter driver or any other compatible ACPI driver.

    4. on the taskbar from the Device Manager, click Scan for hardware changes.
You can also select Action > search the hardware changes.

In the case of workaround doesn't change anything, try the new battery.

    Hello

    How old is your battery?
Have you changed this in the past?

Also try to calibrate the battery; discharge the battery until it s completely empty. Then plug the AC adapter and wait that the battery could be completely loaded.
Repeat this several times, then check the State of charge.

  • Tecra M2, battery life

Got this lappy a week ago (dothan 1.6, video 512/60/64)
All right, but I am concerned about the life of the battery of the standard package.

Once fully charged, it shows a little less then 3 hours of work.

Then time falls rather quickly. 90% ago 02:24
Manufacturer and several critics claim that the battery life should be at least 4 hours.

I reinstalled Toshiba Power Management. Then XP asked to reinstall common Modules.
However, it did not help much.

Can I have a broken battery or this longevity is good for this machine?

My old laptop had a utility of calibration of the configuration of the BIOS battery.
Is there somewhat similar? It seems that the system reads value battery incorrectly.

To Check first, Toshiba site and Microsoft for any update of the operating system or drivers that can help.

About the battery life, I know on older batteries, they worked as how you mentioned.

They lists only a change of time remaining at certain times of the battery.

For example, it can declare 100% for 30 minutes, but then drop to 50% all of a sudden.

But this has happened on NiCad batteries because they lacked a "smart" sensor in the battery to detect small changes.

The battery you have is a Li-ion, so this problem should not exist.

Depending on what you were doing at the time and what power management settings you put in, this will also play a role in how fast your battery drains.

Have the wireless on when you don't have not wireless configuration will drain more quickly the battery.

Playing a CD / DVD, watching movies & games all drip the battery more quickly.

Power management settings, if the value of 'Always On', it will cause the CPU to run at full speed, even on battery.

This is a BIG drain on the battery, while leaving the brightness of the LCD on MAX.

Check your settings, make sure that it has defined for the laptop and try to get down your glow.

If these suggestions do not help, it is possible that you have a defective battery, if so you may want to get it replaced.

    Good luck!
