  I started to notice a new peircing sound really annoying ear on the SL500 I received last week.

  It's a very high-pitched sound that hurt my ears and gives me a headache. I first noticed it in class yesterday.

  The MK2016GAP is a 20 GB HARD drive.

  The only way you could have rusted copper into the connector on the hard drive is if liquid got in there so I am reluctant to try to speculate how much damage has been done. I remove the hard drive and connect it to the outside to another computer and run chkdsk on it to see if the drive itself is bad.   Hard disks have different acoustic characteristics according to the manufacturers (and in overall models from the same manufacturer).  In addition, you went with a 1 TB of HARD drive that probably have a rotational speed of 5400 RPM on a faster drive.  If you are hearing just weak 'rattling', I think it's perfectly normal and given the utility disk HARD sees no problem with the drive, I would say that everything is fine.

  I hope that you use the correct and just HARD drive password because it of necessary to remove and delete the existing HARD disk password.
  If you have forgot the password for HARD drive then the HARD drive should be locked and you would not be able to unlock the HARD drive!
