Tektronix oscillator mode continuous soul via GPIB-USB-HS

Hello

Time now, I can manage oscil Tektronix TDK784A only 'unique sequence' mode to get a waveform with the configuration specified in VI.

1. it is possible to organize the process of mea - nt in continuous mode, when VI shows a similar thing that appears on oscillator?

2. also, is a far exists to organize the measurement process with the configuration of runner oscil games in oscillator (in a single sequence mode chanell parameters sets launch VI)?

Thanks for help.

  • Place HP 34401 in Local with GPIB-USB-HS Mode

    Hello

    I'm using LabVIEW 2010 SP1 to control the 34401 HP with the NI GPIB-USB-HS device. I use I/O built-in 34401 instrument drivers.

If I plugged in everything, the 34401 will be immediately placed in "Remote" mode when I run my software. However, I would like to be able to use LabVIEW to force the 34401 to 'Local' mode Unfortunately I could not find a way to do this. I tried Close.vi, but has no effect.

Here are my planned operation if it makes things clearer:

    1. Launch the software

    2. Initialize the 34401

    3. Place the 34401 in the 4W resistance measurement mode

    4. Pass the 34401 in "local" mode so that the end user can adjust a knob until the desired resistance is obtained while seeing the value of the resistance to change on the 34401

    5. Re-initialize the 34401 when I need to switch to another measure

If not, is there a way to get the 34401 to permanently display how it is taken in remote mode?

  • GPIB-usb-hs on vmware fusion

I am running Windows 7 64-bit on an iMac with OS X 10.6.5 via VMWare Fusion. I installed the driver NOR-488. 2, but can not see my GPIB-USB-HS device. This post: http://forums.ni.com/t5/Instrument-Control-GPIB-Serial/NI-488-2-does-work-on-Windows-XP-Mode-within-... seems to indicate that someone else has had success; his problem was using XP Mode.

Anyone can shed some light on this? Can I expect the combination of the GPIB-USB-HS with Windows 7-64 on VMWare Fusion on an iMac to work?

I also have a USB-6215 is working well.

    Thank you!

    John-

I moved my virtual machine to an OS X 10.6.6 system and things did not work immediately. The GPIB-USB-HS was not visible to the MAX and in Device Manager it looks good, when when I open the property page, he says that there is no driver loaded.

I was able to get the GPIB-USB-HS working by choosing to update the driver through the Device Manager. The steps to do this are:

    1. right click on the GPIB-USB-HS in Device Manager and select "update driver software...". »

    2. Select "Browse my computer for driver software" and then "Let me pick from a list of drivers for devices on my computer.

    3. you must be exactly a GPIB-USB-HS driver to choose. Select it and click Next.

    4. once it finished, view the properties of the device and make you it is said "this device is working properly."

I did the same test for validating a single request with the device, but it seems to work.

Let us know if this helps,

  • Streaming (record) data of Agilent 6674 interface GPIB-USB powered

    Hello

I would like to save the output in more than 200 HZ to my power supply CC 6674 A Agilent with LabVIEW 8.2. Agilent 82357 A GPIB-USB interface is used to connect the power to the computer. And I used the instrument for Agilent 66XX driver I downloaded from OR.

For reading continuous data, I put the read.vi in a while loop and data saved by writing in the file lvm. (just for the starter, not a good sense, though) Please see the attachment.

The problem I have is that I can only save data in ~ 10 HZ then that what I need is at least 200 HZ.

It's my first time to the instrument control and I just had a little experience in the acquisition of data before. I had some confusion as below: no I have gained a point each time the while loop is executed? If so, I guess that the time for each loop (and therefore my data rate) depends on my operating system and the computer I have.

How many points will be acquired whenever the read.vi is run? That depends on the set 'count bytes' in vi or a single point anything? Are there other ways to get the data more efficiently? (want to write your own driver etc...) Any help would be much appreciated.

    See you soon,.

    Bohan

The rate at which you can run the VI is dependent on the instrument/GPIB bus and use of Scripture on a Measurment file. Yes, you get a voltage reading and a current reading with each iteration and the number of bytes read is so that you can get a complete reading.

I suggest you delete the entry in the file of the measurement of the loop to see how long takes of the instrument. That would be your maximum rate. If it's fast enough, use a different method to save the data. Architecture of producer/consumer if you pass the data to another loop via a queue would be a way.

  • Installation of OS 8.6 or 9.2.1 via the USB port on the new world Mac?

    Hallo!

I have submitted a similar question pertaining to the installation of Mac OS X 10.1 - 10.3 via USB drive in the section "Mac OS X 10.3 and more", so if you saw that please also answer here.

Here's the situation: I have an iBook Clamshell G3 233 MHz 265 MB SRAM 16 MB of VRAM with 1xUSB port 1.1. I need an operating system installed and the only alternative for Mac OS 8.6/9.2 or OSX 10.1 - 10.3, who is eligible for this machine is PowerPC Linux, which I can only install a copy CLI (Command Line Interface only) of Ubuntu, I strongly prefer not to use. I tried all the methods of creation of the copy USB Installer, I mentioned in paragraph three of this post:install OS X 10.0 - 10.3 from USB on Mac New World? for Mac OS 8.6 and 9.2 disks as well. I have the installation disk OS 8 detail (8.6 green disk with large 8 and photo inside the loop at the bottom) as well as the installation of retail 9.2.1 universal disc (with the big orange 9 on the label), however the CD - R drive is completely shot, as mentioned in the above linked post it can read the disks, but it cannot initialize a boot drive and takes an hour to recognize / + 20 minutes to read a disk sector so the direct installation of disk option is completely.

While unlike the case in the post above, I can actually get my 9.2.1 installer USB disk copy to start, the copy of 8.6 installer refuses to even be recognized in the boot selection menu (Option at startup) and when I boot the 9.2.1 USB install, I get the notorious "the software of the system at boot drive only functions on the not so copied original media on another drive." message.

Once again using my CD player - R is out of the question. I did so that the image is "locked" before writing the USB disk, set permissions for image for 'r - r - r -' and formatted the drive as 'Mac OS Standard' (HFS) before writing, and I still got the message. Here are the best: I've used "ResEdit" on a separate Mac OS 9 installation to remove the 'xboo' resource that checks for the media type of the program "/ System/system files", copied the contents of the installation CD to a folder, replaced "/ System/system folders ' with the amended version, creates a new. Master image CDR CD size 665, 8 MB , the size of the original drive, moved the folder with the copy of the installation disk for the installation of OS 9 separate existing, blessed the 'File system' directory, moved back, filled with the contents of the disk image (including the program updated the 'system'), disassembled the new image, 'locked', set its permissions to "r - r - r" - and wrote directly to HFS format USB drive using sudo dd if = «» image path"of = / dev / 'USB drive number' fixed permission on the new USB installation disk, and he successfully started the installer to OS 9.2 modified in menu selection of boot HOWEVER, at the start of the poster Installer always the same message:" the software of the system at boot drive only functions on the original media, don't if copied on another drive. " Even if the function to manage this scenario has been removed, and all permissions are set up correctly.

I'm doing something wrong? It is even possible in ANY scenario to install Mac OS 8.6 or 9.2.1 installation disk backup direct, or via a USB disk/Flash Drive? Or do I have to buy a new iBook CD - R drive and a Torx T6 screwdriver to replace it just to reinstall Mac OS? Like I said before, we will find more details on the methods tried in the variation of Mac OS X this post link above, so for more information or overview Setup OS X with a USB drive instead of Mac OS just reply to this post. Any help or suggestions are appreciated, and I need an operating system installed on this machine outside the only command line Linux evil. Thank you!

Mac of this generation will only boot from the internal drive, CD or Firewire.  I just heard rumor a few PPC Macs can boot from USB and it is probably for some OSX version.

I don't know if target disk Mode or it works for OS9 boot: install 10.4/10.5 on a Mac with a broken / or incompatible optical drive - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-1020

  • Connection of an instrument with GPIB-USB connection.

I am trying to use a GPIB-USB adapter to control a unit of Source of LabView. However, I have problems my instrument drivers to recognize the GPIB address specified for the device. I have attached an image below the address specified by IO Keysight connection Expert. I am currently trying to initialized the EMS with the GPIB driver I have attached below. Because of my knowledge limited in LabView instrument control, how should I approach of collecting the correct address of GPIB and recognize it in my VI?

    Hi wyattcurtis824,

Before we dig into the LabVIEW code, I would recommend a Test Panel of max aperture and trying to communicate with. Are you able to send orders via Keysight connection Expert or NI MAX and see the valid data?

In addition, when you run the vi in LabVIEW, is pilot it returns an error in the error on the box? If so, what the error is?

This shoule information help us to the root of the problem.

  • Error of Driver GPIB-USB-HS - 10 possibly after Feb Windows Update Windows

Starting from 17/02/2016, GPIB-USB-HS material (2) is no longer connecting on 10 of Windows using NI488.2 Rev 15 15/8 with the 15.0.1 patch.

Using VMWare player 7.1.3, the VM sees the material, connects, turn lights and then turn off. The virtual machine shows "Driver error" unable to connect to the USB device. This has been tested with two USB devices that have worked with the same setup for a few years now on Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 using VMate 7.x and 12. xs

Possibly this is related to the last update of Windows,

Repair, or a full installation of rev 15 NI488.2 solves this problem.

    VISA still works via TCP/IP.

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

Update: the pilot is still alive.

The latest version of Windows, which has been applied to the host system 05/03/2016, restores the driver under the guest virtual machine feature. Revisions to operating system host and client are now at 10586.122.

  • Synchronization and optimization of keithley-Labview with GPIB-USB

I started an old thread on this subject, but I have some new problems. My vi is to control a Keithley sourceMeter to read measurements every 5 ms for 6 to 10 hours, using GPIB-USB. The vi simply sends the commands under a full script to the instrument and then bed measures (voltage and current) in a loop using the visa and saves the data and displays them in a second loop using a queue. I decided to use a queue and a second loop due to the delay caused by reading data, save them in a file + display, all in a single loop! I want to be able to see all the data with real time axis, so I used a xy chart.

Having a shorter time in the upper loop isn't a bad idea.  Using the wait until the next ms multiple rather than just the Dequeue wait time can cause the occasional time jumps.

I have no LV open now, so I'll try to remember your VI.  I think you picked up 3 data values and a timestamp of each 5 ms.  It is 800 items every second. If you want to save all the data but only write to the file every 5 seconds, you will have to accumulate 4000 items. Because file entries are not always made exactly when you ask them because of the behaviour of the OS, you must allocate a bit more wide open spaces.  You can initialize an array 2D as 1200 X 4 (1200 lines of 4 columns) of NaN. Place this table into a shift register.  Every time you Dequeue data, replace the next line with the data.  When you write to produce, use the subset of the array to get the part that was replaced with real data and write the part in the file.  Return the initialized array of NaN in the registry to offset and continue to replace the data.

  • Connection of GPIB USB HS TWO agilent instrument (power)

    Hello

I'm fighting to control two power supplies (E3631A) Agilent using GPIB USB HS connection.

But they are not detected as TWO different power supplies regardless of STAR or linear connection.

However, when I try to set up a power source and a Tektronix oscilloscope, they are considered TWO different instruments.

Single power supply control is also OK.

So, I'm wondering how to set up TWO power supplies.

I enclose the code VI to not control than a single power supply and want to extend to the version of the two instruments.

you have configured the power to two addresses different gpib?

    This is needed!

  • KEITHLEY 238 / NI GPIB-USB-HS-change delay time

    Hello

I have a keithley 238 meters the current measures such as voltage is swept. It's the GPIB device and connected to my PC via NI GPIB-USB-HS

adapter. I would like to control with Labview 8.6. I used the VI available at your instrument driver network who directed me to the website keithley and is attached below. Keithley said that the VI is unsupported freeware. The VI is located at

    http://www.Keithley.com/products/CurrentVoltage/?path=238/downloads#1

The first "sample program" on this site Web is the VI that I use.

Now the VI works well.  The VI sweeps the tension and shows the current measured as a table and a chart.

I want to just change the scanning time, but I can't increase it beyond 1000 ms. Why is it so?

Scan delay is the time that he made a break after each increment of voltage.

I don't know if there's a change in the VI or NI GPIB-USB-HS adapter settings are a problem. I checked the settings of this device under MAX - time settings are the following

    (1) time I / O-> by default set to 13 (10 sec)

    (2) antipolling - verified

    (3) then there are a few termination settings and advanced settings, there is a setting, bus game calendar to-2 (500nsec)

So are bad parameters GPIB or code needs to be changed? How and where to change the code?

The reason why the VI will not attribute to a value greater than 1000 is simple to understand. Just right click and select data entry and you will see that the maximum value is set to 1000. It is set so that I don't know. Have you looked in the manual to see if 1 s is a limitation of the instrument?

  • GPIB-USB-HS Windows Server 2003 driver available?

I tried to install the GPIB-USB-HS device on our system of Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard 32 - Bit (German) with the last driver NI488.2 3.0 package.

But the driver seems to be evil. After restarting Windows comes up with an error and event poster of the errors of several Viewer too:

-The "nipxirmk" service failed to start due to the following error: the specified driver is invalid

I think that the latest package isn't compatible Win Server 2003 but that it is announced at ni.com.

Is it possible to install GPIB-USB-HS on a Win 2003 Server machine?

    Thanks for your help

    Kalize

Windows Server 2003 32-bit R2 enables PAE by default ("physical address Extension") mode for addressing memory above the 4 GB limit.  National Instruments supports this operating system, it does not address memory above the 4 GB limit by using EAP setting and many pilots OR will fail to load if this setting is enabled.  (Note that your computer may intuitively put some of your memory above the 4 GB limit, even if you only have 4 GB of RAM).

On Windows Server 2003, you can disable the EAP or prevent Windows to use addresses beyond 4 GB, which allows loading the drivers EITHER.  Please see KB 54D9I6M6: OR software failure when PAE (physical address Extension) is activated on Windows operat... for more information.

  • GPIB-USB-HS driver problem

    Hi all

I am trying to use a GPIB-USB-HS device on my laptop that I used successfully on my desktop.  NOR-488. 2 is installed on the laptop.  The Wizard "new hardware found" appears when I plug in the USB.  I select locate and install and I get a message saying "windows didn't load the installer for the GPIB.  I wait a few seconds and I'm propted to insert the disc that came with the device.  I do (NOR-488. 2) and continue the installation, I get to the point where things should start to arrive and I tells me that the driver is already installed.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck.  I tried to look for the driver to my desktop and put the file on my laptop, not to go as well.  What should I try next?

It is my understanding that the driver for the device is NEITHER-488. 2, at least it's the only drive I had with the unit, and documentation says there is a device for the device support.  It seems in any case, I have solved my problem.  I plugged the camera and went into the Device Manager and I put it on the tab interface NI GPIB driver.  The computer recognizes it from there.  I am running.

Activation of the NI-VISA for Tulip Passport

For software OR recognize the Agilent material, you must activate the Passport NOR VISA for Tulip. It is a software module that is included with NI-VISA for support of Agilent material and is not enabled by default. Use the NI Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX NOR) to activate the passport for Tulip.

In versions 3.0 and later of NEITHER MAX, you can do:

    Beginning NOR MAX
    Click Tools > NI-VISA > VISA Options...
    In the tree, select passports.
Select the passport for the Tulip checkbox.
Click Save to save the settings
Output OR MAX, wait a few seconds and restart NI MAX (you must restart NI MAX for your changes to take effect).

For details specific to your version of MAX to OR see documentation of NOR.

  • Agilent E3640A PSU with GPIB-USB-HS

Hello all, I created an Agilent E3640A power control software standard interface GPIB. It works very well. Now, I want to replace the standard GPIB interface (with GPIB card) with GPIB-USB-HS adapter cable, so that I can send commands via USB connection, eliminating the need for GPIB card. How can I use my existing application to work with GPIB-USB-HS adapter cable? Is this a change? or I completely rewrite the code, and if so, are the drivers available for GPIB-USB-HS adapter cable? Thanks Jeet

    More information please.

Have you removed the PCI interface before you try the USB interface? If this is not the case, your program may still try to access the E3640A on the PCI card.

What is the USB HS recognized in Explorer measurement and automation as GPIB0?

The E3640A knows if scan you for Instruments to MAX?

What (number) error is raised during the execution of your program with USB HS?

It would also help if you could show us NI SPY logs saved when executing your program with PCI and USB-Interface Card

Usually you don't need to install different drivers, because the package NOR-488. 2 installs drivers for all variants of the NI GPIB hardware.

  • MAX does not detect my instrument 488.2 GPIB-USB-HS, but Windows XP Device Manager only

    Hello

I have a problem when you use the 488.2 GPIB-USB-HS, I see the device in Windows XP Device Manager, but it is not visible in the MAX, I do not see even a section for devices GPIB. However, when I try to install a new device, GPIB, the Wizard MAX tells me that it is one of the instruments GPIB installed on the computer which GPIB0 - USB-GPIB-HS. Do you know what is the reason to do this, because I want to use a multimeter in LabVIEW via GPIB, but I can't access it, I don't even see that there is a GPIB connection in the computer (in LabVIEW).
