Temporary user profile
Be connected with a profile temporary user, most of my stuff, files, music, pictures disappeared, cannot restore my system beyond today? Not an IT expertise and detailed explanation as such and the procedure for resolution of the problems would be more then welcome. TNX
Hello
Your files are still there and are accessible when you troubleshoot your profile or using another
ADMIN account. They are on C:\Users\Your user name folders.
You can try to fix it with Safe Mode - repeatedly press F8 as you bootup. The ADMIN account in trunk
Mode has no default password (unless someone has changed the password so it should be available).

Other methods:
Use the hidden administrator account to lower your user account (to the lowest level) APPLY/OK then go back
and reset it to the Admin APPLY/OK - this clearly allows corruption. Do this several times. Do the same for others
accounts that may be difficult. If necessary you can also reset your password in the accounts.
Do not forget to leave your Admin account and the other to the desired level.
Make another Admin account with your password and use it to fix the others if necessary. (just for

Why Windows Vista does not load user profile?
When logging on it says unable to load the user profile, but the profile is there when I log in Administrator account, how do I recognize my account that I used to use? Everything worked fine until I went to reboot my Dell Vosstro 220, running Vista SP2 with all latest updates... He went to the Startup Repair, and after awhile, I was dirrected to restart the computer. When it restarted, it went to a temporary user profile named after one it starts normally, but there was 3-0 and temp after the profile. So the desktop icon were almost all gone and when you run a temp profile nothing is saved in it when you use... I've logged on to the administrator account and under C:\computer\users my account, I used to use with 2 temporary accounts. One was exactly like my normal account (mountain), but with temp000 after her. I went to Microsoft Answers and he said to go to regedit and find the profiles under machine\software\microsoft \windows NT\profiles and change the name of the supposely accounts 2 so it would not load the Temp account. I followed the instructions to a T and everything is OK except that now it does not load the Temp file, it just says: windows could not load the user profile. I have to hit Control, Alt, delete to bring up the Task Manager and then type Administrator and password that works very well. When I click on administrator, it displays the screen with all that on the computer. MountainMan used to be there under administrator, but he disappeared. If I go down to users in a subcatigory under computer and users it lists all of the accounts that I should be able to access. All the information is there, it doesn't seem right to see as an account profle to load up. I've always had it set to start on MountainMan account without password. Now it takes forever to load the administrator account. It must also be typed in each time instead of remember accounts. How can I get MountainMan load again? The info is there, but he doesn't seem to know the location more. Even when I type in MountainMan it just says unable to load the user profile. I don't know if typing in the name of the account is the same problem or if I have 2 problems. I appriciate any help to correct this situation.
Also just FYI, I deleted temporary files after changing names, in which case they were confusing. Hi James,
1. When you created a new user account, have you configured it as an administrator?
2. When you connect to the old user profile you are able to view your data?

Restart the system created the new user profile
When trying to connect to my laptop (before leaving), I have a blank screen with only a cursor before I could log on to the computer. I got tired of hitting CTRL alt del to get into the Task Manager, but he did not do anything.
Then, I held the power button for five seconds to turn off the computer and restart it. When he started upward, it showed an error that says the computer is not stopped correctly and on this screen, there are several options to reboot windows, I chose the option "restart windows normally" I could connect with my fine existing password, but when the windows actually open, my experience had changed and all my files are gone. After some research, I found that all the old information of my were still there, but a separate user profile had been created and everything has been re-pathed to the new user. The new user profile name was my existing profile name, then my name with a .pc at the end (ie. user name - username.pc).
My questions are twofold: one) what the hell happened? and (b) what is the simplest to make everything re-pathed to my existing user profile.
Thank you
You have been put in a temporary user profile because the original was damaged. You can try the techniques below. If this does not work, let me know and I'll give you another path.
Critical files are under % systemdrive%\users\user-account\ntuser. The ntuser.dat file is actually a registry hive. Run regedit high and select HKEY_USERS and "load hive" in the menu. Now, go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
There is a line for each profile. If a profile is bad, check:
(a) that the name of the key does not stop in ".bak" (remove .bak If it)
(b) that the RefCount value is 0 (change it if it is different)
(c) that the State value is 0 (change if different)If this is not the case, make the changes and try to connect as this user.
More details of MVP Aaron Tiensivu - assume in this example that the user name is "atiensivu", field is "personal" and the user profile is located in % systemdrive%\users\atiensivu. Letter is usually C: on standard Vista installs. Replace each instance of "atiensivu" by the username of the corrupted profile.
1. If you can log in profile, take note of the variable value environment % USERPROFILE. It will probably be "C:\Users\atiensivu" or "C:\Users\atiensivu.staff". Logoff.
2. If you have opened a session with the profile at any time since your last reboot or you think that there are files in use in the profile, reboot. The important part is to ensure that there are no open files in the directory of the profile broke.
3. log in as administrator or another account that has local administrator rights.
4. run "takeown /r /a /d y/f % systemdrive%\users\atiensivu.
5. starting at % systemdrive%\users, rename "atiensivu" to "atiensivu.old".
6. in % systemdrive%\users, create a directory named "atiensivu".
7 run "takeown/r/u staff\atiensivu/f % systemdrive%\users\atiensivu".
8. run regedit and go to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList and remove the SID key to the corrupted profile. Best way to find the correct SID is looking for the 'ProfileList' key to the directory mentioned in %UserProfile% in #1 step.
9. closure of the session.
10 log on the account "atiensivu". A new profile must be created. Copy all the files you can of the old profile directory.
Orders "takeown" might be overkill, but I don't like permission errors.

When my computer is on suddenly power went and my system also closed that crashed without logging my user account. now, I started my computer and I tried to open a session in my account (having only one user account) but he goes to the temporary login account, it displays "could not load the profile user and loading of temporary user account if you make changes to this user account it will be erased when you connect after." What can I do? How can I solve it? I use windows xp.

Hi indhru,
- Did you the latest changes on the computer?
- You have security software installed on the computer?
Try the step after the connection to the temporary account below.
- Click on the Start menu.
- Type Regedit in the Run dialog box, and then press enter
- Access
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList - There is 1 line for each profile. Especially if a profile is bad there are 3 things worth visiting:
- Make sure that the name of the key are not ends in ".bad".
- Make sure the RefCount value is 0
- Ensure that the status value is 0

Last night I shut down my computer like I usually do. Today when I woke up, I turned on the computer, entered my password, it took forever to load and then it was just a blue screen with a few icons. All my documents, pictures, music, etc. have disappeared and it's as if I use my computer for the first time. I immediately thought that I had a virus, ran a scan and nothing came. Then I checked my memory, and it's the same as last night, I felt a little hope that my files have to be somewhere. Did a system restore, but that did not help. I found the files when I clicked on "Start" then "search" then "c: / users I found everything, but don't know how to get back into that account." I am only connected under a temporary account.
