Test if a window is open

Hi all

is it possible to test whether a window is open and then do something and if not something else?

Thank you

> is it possible to test whether a window is open and then do something and if not something else?

What do you mean by 'window '?

If you are referring to a film in the window (MIAW), you can use:
bExists = _player.windowPresent ("windowName")
If bExists then
-code here
on the other
-code here
end if
The windowPresent function will only tell you if a named window exists
in the windowList.
If you want to know if a window is open or closed, you can use:
bExists = _player.windowPresent ("windowName")
If bExists then
bOuvrir = window("windowName").visible
If bOuvrir then
-- ...
on the other
-- ...
end if
end if

If you are referring to a window owned by another application, there are
Xtras that can locate these and the return of the handles.

Got a big window that opens indicating 28 (?) virus/infections found and I need to reconfigure / sign up for XP Home Security and allow him to get rid of these infections. Never recorded this before scan. It doesn't let me go anywhere to check anything, can not access the internet, continues to say that you are infected, danger danger, for example. Turned it all off, the computer restarts. Can't do anything with it... Guess I need to take it to someone who can remove the pop up? Hi mountfordp,
I understand that you ask is why when you address window the 1Password Firefox does not open in another tab?

I found that he was kidnapped and recommended update after version 40 Firefox: https://support.1password.com/v3-extension-firefox/

However for the tab does not open I don't know if it's Firefox or the 1Password.

In the past, a new profile has been recommended to be created with the latest version of 1Password in Firefox. Use the Profile Manager to create and delete profiles Firefox , first try a new profile and see if the new tab opens correctly.

Don't think I've seen what you describe. Can clarify you this?

  • If I click once on an e-mail in the message window while I closed the preview window, I opened that makes e-mail?

If I click once on an e-mail in the message window while I closed the preview window, I opened that makes e-mail? I worry because I don't want to open a message that my bad-ware download on my computer. If the preview window is closed, I noticed that the number of e-mails read does not change when I click once on e-mail. Can I assume that unread means that it has not been opened.

Read the answer! Your question is answered there.

Read / unread is purely an indicator. It has no real meaning. If you go into the menu (alt + T) tools > options > advanced > reading and display, you can change when a mail is marked as read in immediately to 10 seconds (this is what outlook express used) up to 1000 seconds.

The software marked the email read is that this logic can go. It's always "BOLD", the software did not mark the message read.

You open the mail? It is an unquantifiable statement.

In the context of Thunderbird an individual mail is not a discrete element that is stored. It is a part of your data for mail/News. So try to equate open to action just does not fit.

Thunderbird received mail as a series of lines. He collected in an email that he stores in a file with all your other emails for this folder. You open the file in that the mail is stored? Totally irrelevant Thunderbird opens to get mail every time that mail is added to the folder or to view a mail in this folder.

Each time a letter is displayed (any mail) the file all your emails for this folder are saved in the opening and reading.

If clicking on the mail list 'open' the file. Probably not, it was probably already open. The file is opened, read, written to and updated probably half a dozen times since Thunderbird started so if you click on the mail to see won't change anything good at all. If the e-mail file has been closed it will be open to view the contents of the mail, but he is perhaps already open.

The key is that you try to apply assumptions to mail that simply do not apply. That's why I sound as if I'm going in circles.

You also may ask, when I fill the kerosene tank my electric light.

    • The software mark mail as read when you say
    • It opens files underlying storage constantly. Clicking on an entry may or may not cause the opening of the file.
    • Your mail is not in a file on its own, it is in a file that contains all the messages in the folder and the mail deleted until the folder is compacted.
  • When I open a link that opens a new Firefox window, it opens 2 tabs instead of one. How can I stop this?

When I open a link that opens a new Firefox window, it opens 2 tabs instead of one. A tab is the link that I opened and the second tab is just a generic Mozilla tab with links to 12 pages like Facebook, Youtube, etc. This tab opens on top too, so I always have to close to get what I'm looking for. How can I stop this from happening?

Hello. Thanks for all the posts on this topic. I have the same problem, as described by the op. But, while I use Avast, I have NOT the add-on from Astromenda which has been mentioned. However, I have the SB installed toolbar, and it has been recently updated, 29/12. I suspect that it is the culprit, if this problem is in fact not caused by an update of Firefox (my tiles have recently been reset on new tabs, and I suspect that Firefox for this problem).

I am ready to remove the toolbar from the SB, but prefer to keep it (Yes, I admit I'm stupid) If this annoying 'new window = 2 tabs with 'new tab' at the top' would just leave.

Apart from the removal of the toolbar SB... does anyone have suggestions? I don't see that all recently added add-ons/extensions that I don't recognize, apart from the update of the toolbar of SB.

Updated: 5 minutes after this announcement, I disabled the toolbar of SB and restarted Firefox. No change.

  • In Firefox 29 Center by clicking at the top of a tab in a zoomed window will open a closed tab previously instead of close the tab you clicked on

In Firefox 29 Center by clicking at the top of a tab in a zoomed window will open a closed tab previously instead of close the tab that you clicked.

Is this expected behavior? And if so is it possible to turn it off?

    Thank you

Middle-clicking on a tab the farm, any means - by clicking on an empty area of the tab bar opens a new tab.

A different behavior is probably caused by an add-on like Tab Mix Plus tab-based. If you are unsure if you have a such add-on, restart Firefox with disabled modules and check if the problem persists.

  • Why my animated themes work only the first time that I open the window? Everyone I tried stops animate if I close the window and open a new one.

The title pretty much sums up my problem. Basically, I took a few different themes animated to try in the section modules to customize my browser window. I am running Windows XP, MS office Outlook 2007

Is it a link in an e-mail message in Outlook? This problem arises from time to time.

While Firefox can usually set himself as the proper application to open the URL, you click in other programs, settings are sometimes blur or do not take. This article has tips to solve this problem: setting Firefox as the default browser does not work - what to do. Anything there help?

If the problem persists, is there something special about how you start Firefox? For example, you have this launch in a security 'sandbox' or virtual machine? You have all the command-line options set to allow several simultaneous sessions of Firefox, or call the Profile Manager? If none of this sounds familiar to you, the answer is probably not.

  • Can I set up a new window to open without all the tabs in the current window opwning?

I have a new computer at work with what must be a new version of firefox. I use several windows to do my job. When I open a new window, all the tabs in the current window open in a new. I'm wondering how to set up a new window to open a blank page or just my homepage?

I restarted Firefox, and I changed the settings of the homepage one a different choice and return to the page you want and then restarted Firefox again. This eliminated all initial tabs opening to open in the new window. I don't know how all the pages have been cached or what I should have done, but I don't have that problem anymore.

Why do I get restore window when opening firefox since the update. I don't want to restore but it appears every time instead of my homepage as shown

A likely cause is that you first close all Firefox Windows and then close the Firefox application.

Some noted that closing of Firefox (Firefox > Quit) while the browser window is always open works for them.

    • Bug 845681 - close all windows and abandonment of Firefox eventually led to about: sessionrestore to appear the next time you start
