Hi Chris,

Please find the "Cisco TelePresence Network Systems Design Guide 2.0" document series CTS here:

https://supportforums.Cisco.com/docs/doc-23422

For T3 immersive systems, we have another document, please take a look at this document:

https://supportforums.Cisco.com/docs/doc-23391

Are there specific points of termination/infrastructure you would need more information ready network?

For more information concerning understanding Cisco TelePresence latency Jitter and loss targets and thresholds, please have a look here:

https://supportforums.Cisco.com/docs/doc-23423

The single telepresence network preparation software (AFAIK), is the old tool IPT. This tool will test your network deployment to check configurations appropriate to support the crossing of firewall solutions Cisco Expressway (I can send you this request separately if you wish).

Hope this helps,

Arne

  • Essbase for reporting - is this best practice?

    Hello
We have installed HFM v11 with DRM. We want to be able to plan and produce reports using Smartview. Consultant suggested that we build an Essbase cube in order to get the zoom capability of eliminations and other details. Who is considered "best practice"? Can we not use Smartview to declare and to break into the repository of HFM SQL?
    Thanks in advance

This looks like a lot of work/maintenance.

    (1) you can easily program reports to aid Financial Reporting of Hyperion and batch Scheduler in the workspace.
    (2) you can use Extended Analytics to the largest reporting requirements and query data via an ODBC connection with access, etc.
    (3) you can use the VBA of SmartView feature to auto-refresh reports 'open' and save a copy in a different location - so you can run the macros via the Windows Task Scheduler.

  • for most animating stills for video online. Best aspect ratio?

I'm working on a project using some standard dv footage, but mostly I'm animation pictures prepared in Photoshop, animated and rendered 3d in After Effects, and now, since I have decided its time to abandon the FCP, I'll work in Premiere Pro.

Initially, I started working on all this work - years - with square pixels. (I forget why, but I was told that it was a good idea). I give out of AE in 720 X 534, animation, RGB + alpha.  I started working in DV standard and will continue like this.

I searched the elongation, but simply, I do not understand the explanations.  What I want to really know is what is the best ratio aspect (square or rectangular) and 720 X? to create an online video that must never be shown on something larger than a desktop computer.

Please be nice and just tell me what to do?  I'm not a pro and will clearly never be a pro. I'm am amateur (an amateur is a lover, right?) It is the kind of material that I worked with.  http://straightlife.info/movielinks.html

If your video footage is the same report SD, then I suggest working in this same report, but bigger. If reading is going to be on the computer only, you can make any size you want!

The problem is that if you're uploading to YouTube or some other video sharing service, then you will be forced into their size requirements and, if there is YouTube, they will no doubt be pillar box anyway he (margins on the side of weird).

If you want to keep all your stuff the same size, then 720 x 534 is a resolution of pixels square perfectly reasonable to work. It corresponds to the standard NTSC D1.

  • Code of script to the code for the class paper - best practices

I'm starting to put my code in the document class, instead of on the main timeline, and I have a few questions. When I was using the timeline, everything was linear. It is easy to know what things would begin and end because of the way the playhead moves. With the document class, I noticed for the first time that the functions are performed at the same time, if you call one after the other. What would be the best way to make them run in the order? Let's say I have the functions f1, f2, and f3. I guess at the end of the f1, I could call f2 and at the end of f2 call f3 or use event listeners, but is it the right way to do it? At the time wherever you arrive at f3, are not always 'open' because they did not complete f1 and f2?

do you want some significant time to sweat between execution of the f1, f2 and f3?

If so, use a timer or a timer.  If not, then just call sequentially. with a few exceptions (mainly when loading some outside (flash) file synchronously executes the code):

    F1();

    F2();

    F3();

  • Best Practice Guide for stacked N3024 switches

Is there a guide to BP for the configuration of the 2 N3024s stacked for the connections to the server, or is the same eql iscsi configuration guide.

    I'm trying to:

    1) reduce to a single point of failure for rack.

    (2) make good use of LACP for 2 and 4 nic server connections

    (3) use a 5224 with it's 1 lacp-> n3024s for devices of unique connection point (ie: internet router)

    TIA

    Jim...

Barrett pointed out many of the common practices suggested for stacking. The best practice is to use a loop for stacking and distributing your LAG on multiple switches in the stack, are not specific to any brand or model of the switch. The steps described in the guides of the user or the white papers generally what is the recommended configuration.
    http://Dell.to/20sLnnc

Many of the best practices scenarios will change of network-to-network based around what is currently plugged into the switch, and the independent networks needs / requirements of business. This has created a scenario where the default settings on a switch are pre-programmed for what is optimal for a fresh switch. Then recommended are described in detail in white papers for specific and not centralized scenarios in a single document of best practices that attempts to cover all scenarios.

    Express.ypH N-series switches are:
    -RSTP is enabled by default.
-Green eee-mode is disabled by default.
    -Frother is enabled by default.
-Storm control is disabled by default.

Then these things can change based on the towed gear and needs/desires of the whole of society.

For example, Equallogic has several guides that recommendations of configuration detail to different switches.
    http://Dell.to/1ICQhFX

Then on the side server, you would like to look more like the OS/server role. For example a whitepaper VMware that has some network settings proposed when running VMware in an iSCSI environment.
    http://bit.LY/2ach2I7

I suggest making a list of the technology/hardware/software, which is used on the network. Then use this list to acquire white papers for specific areas. Then use these white papers best practices in order to ensure the switch configuration is optimal for the task required by the network.

  • Looking for a best practices guide: complete replacement cluster

    Hello

I was in charge as the complete replacement of our current environment hardware ESXi 5.0 U2 with a new cluster of servers running 5.1.

    Here are the basics:

Currently, HP Blade Server chassis with 6 hypervisors running ESXi 5.0 U2, the company license, about 100 or so virtual running different operating systems - mainly MS 2003 R2 to 2008 R2, stores the data on without connected through ethernet connections 1 GB.

Intended to run 7 independent servers as a cluster with ESXi 5.1, license of the company, connections to SAN be improved to 10 GB ethernet or fiber.  The range of virtual machines in the importance of 'can be restarted after hours' to ' should not be restarted or that will cost us money service interruptions.  (Looking for the options live - migrate if possible although I have my doubts, it will be an option given the cluster plans)

I'm looking for a Guide to best practices (or a combination of the guides) which will help me to determine how best to plan the migration of VM - especially in light of the fact that the new cluster will be not part of the existing.  Given also the fact we upgrade is unable (due to problems on the chassis firmware) 5.1 before this work...

Any pointers in the right direction would be great - look no no not a handout, just people signs

    See you soon.

Welcome to the community - from vCenter 5.1 can manage an ESXi 5.0 host just one at a time do guests 5.0 5.1 and vmotion the VMs to new hosts - environment as the two environment will see the same SAN it will be necessary for storage vmotion.

  • Best practices of ESXi 4.1 installation

Since esxi a sc removed no matter if I create different data stores, one for vkernel and another for virtual machines?

Also for networking is important to create the management network on the separate vswitch from VM network?

    What is best practice?

traffic will pass by vmkernel and distributed. environment like yours, that separates the vmkernel makes no difference because there isn't any iscsi or vmotion traffic.

  • Implementation of best practices

We have a budget tight but would like to be considered for implementation, as many best practices of VMware as possible. We realize that, with our budget, we will not be able to implement many of them but I would like to get the most, most critics made. What do you consider the ABSOLUTE MUST have best practices to an environment that includes the following:

6 hosts ESX3.5 and 1 VC2.5 with the license server Center. Each host has 6 physical network interface cards. We have licenses for vMotion, DRS, and HA. Our current setup is:

vSwitch0 is home to a group of virtual computer and Console of Service ports with 2 network cards

vSwitch1 is home port for VM group

vSwitch3 is home to port VM group

vSwitch4 is a dedicated vMotion network

Physically, our hosts are connected to a single physical Nortel SwitchStack affected ports to the VLAN

We have our virtual machines on different subnets 3

This infrastructure is inside our firewall. We have a demilitarized zone, but it is not virtual.

    Looking for candid suggestions.

The vSwitch is an object that exists in the memory of an ESX server.  Therefore, the exchanges on this vSwitch belong within this memory object.  This vSwitch keeps his stats, the mac entity table.  With the help of a 2nd vSwitch creates a 2nd object that does not interact/interface with the first.  Then, it adds another layer of separation between the information.  Gaps are a good thing for this reason.

  • Best practices Apple ID

I help the family members and others with their Apple products. Probably the problem number one revolves around Apple ID I saw users follow these steps:

    (1) share IDs among the members of the family, but then wonder why messages/contacts/calendar entries etc are all shared.

    (2) have several Apple IDs willy-nilly associated with seemingly random devices. The Apple ID is not used for anything.

    (3) forget passwords. They always forget passwords.

    (4) is that I don't really understand. They use an e-mail from another system (gmail.com, hotmail.com, etc) as their Apple ID. Invariably, they will use a different password for their Apple ID than the one they used for other email, so that they are constantly confused about which account to connect to.

I have looked around for an article on best practices for creating and using Apple ID, but could not find such a position. So I thought I would throw a few suggestions. If anyone knows of a list or wants to suggest changes/additions please feel free. Here are the best practices for normal circumstances, i.e. not cooperate accounts etc.

    1. every person has exactly 1 Apple ID.

    2. do not share Apple ID - share content.

    3. do not use an email address of another counts as your Apple ID.

    4. When you create a new Apple ID, don't forget to complete the secondary information to https://appleid.apple.com/account/manage. It is EXTREMELY important questions your email of relief and security.

    5. the last step is to collect the information that you entered in a document and save to your computer AND print and store it somewhere safe.

    Suggestions?

I agree with no. 3, it is no problem with using a addressed no iCloud as the primary ID, indeed, depending on where you set up your ID, you may have no choice but to.

  • New to ColdFusion - Question about best practices

    Hello.

I've been programming in Java / c# / PHP for the past two years or so, and as of late have really taken taste to ColdFusion.

The question I have is around the effective separation of the code, and if there are any best practices that are preached by using this language. While I was learning Java, I was taught that it is better to have several layers in your code; example: Front end (JSP or ASP)-> Business Objects-> support-> database. All the code I've written using these three languages followed this simple structure, most of the time.

As I dive deeper into ColdFusion, most of the examples I've seen of vetrans of this language really does incorporate a lot of separation. And I don't mean the simple ' here's what this function only "type of online examples where most of the code is written in a single file. I was able to see the projects that were created with this language.

I work with a few developers who have written in ColdFusion for a few years and put the question to them as well. Their response was something to the effect, ' I don't know if there is any recommended for this, but it really doesn't seem like there is really a problem, make calls like that. "

I searched online for any type of best practices or discussions around that and have not seen much.

I still consider myself a bit of a noobling when it comes to programming, but best practice is important to me for any language that I learn more about.

    Thanks for the help.

You might want to take a look at a number of major frameworks available for

    ColdFusion.

FW/1 II, model glue, CFWheels, ColdBox and Mach.  They do a great job of

giving you a path for the separation of code, best practices, etc.

  • Best practices for network configuration of vSphere with two subnets?

Well, then I'll set up 3 ESXi hosts connected to storage shared with two different subnets. I configured the iSCSI initiator and the iSCSI with his own default gateway - 192.168.1.1 - targets through a Cisco router and did the same with the hosts configured with its own default gateway - 192.168.2.2. I don't know if I should have a router in the middle to route traffic between two subnets since I use iSCSI ports linking and grouping of NETWORK cards. If I shouldn't use a physical router, how do I route the traffic between different subnets and use iSCSI ports binding at the same time. What are the best practices for the implementation of a network with two subnets vSphere (ESX host network: iSCSI network)? Thank you in advance.

Install the most common iSCSI would be traffic between hosts and

the storage is not being routed, because a router it could reduce performance.

If you have VLAN 10(192.168.1.0/24) iSCSI, VLAN 20 (192.168.2.0/24) ESX

MGMT and VLAN 30 (192.168.3.0/24) comments VMs and VLAN 40 (192.168.4.0/24)

vMotion a deployment scenario might be something like:

    NIC1 - vSwitch 0 - active VMK (192.168.1.10) MGMT, vMotion VMK (192.168.4.10)

    standby

    NIC2 - vSwitch 1 - current (VLAN30) guest virtual machine port group

    NIC3 - vSwitch 2 - active VMK1 (192.168.1.10) iSCSI

    NIC4 - vSwitch 2 - active VMK2 (192.168.1.11) iSCSI

    NIC5 - vSwitch 1 - current (VLAN30) guest virtual machine port group

    NIC6 - vSwitch 0 - MGMT VMK (192.168.2.10) standby, vMotion

    VMK (192.168.4.10) active

You would place you on VLAN 10 storage with an IP address of something like target

192.168.1.8 and iSCSI traffic would remain on this VLAN. The default value

gateway configured in ESXi would be the router the VLAN 20 with an ip address of

something like 192.168.2.1. I hope that scenario help set some options.

  • Best practices for vSphere 5 Networking

    Hi all

    Given the following environment:

    (1) 4 physical servers, each server has 16 (Gigabit) network interface cards will install vSphere 5 std.

    (2) 2 switches with SAN storage battery function

    (3) 2 Equallogic PS4000 SAN (two controllers)

    (4) 2 switches for the traffic of the virtual machine

As for networking, I intend create some vSwitches on each physical server as follows

    1 vSwitch0 - used for iSCSI storage

6 network adapters are associated with IP-hash, multitracks with iSCSI Storage consolidation policy. and storage load balancing is round Rodin (vmware)

(vmware suggests to use 2 cards for 1 traget of IP storage, I'm not sure)

2 vSwitch1 - used for the virtual machine

6 Teamed network adapters for the traffic of the virtual machine, with the hash intellectual property policy

    3 vSwitch2 - management

    2 network cards are associated

    4 vSwitch3 - vMotion

    2 network cards are associated

You would like to give me some suggestions?

Alex, the standard set by the storage and VMware is used by dell for their servers and tested sound on their equipment and the publication of the document, it is recommended...

This sound is the best practice for dell server with this model mentioned in the document to use.

  • AF best practices for video

I'm using an EOS 7 d for 1080 p HD video shooting. New to SLR camera and digital video. I have watched several tutorials but do not yet have a good understanding of what the best practices for the development.

If I put the camera in AI Servo it will auto focus if the subject is moving away or toward me with depress me back AF-ON or the shutter button? Or should I press one of these buttons to make the camera continues to focus?

You know tutorials or video lessons that cross using update with the video?

    Thanks in advance!

I don't know any tutorials, but more serious videographers say it is best to use only the manual focus.

Trial and error is a good teacher, when it comes to video DSLR. You'll quickly learn that video Auto Focus is really bad with the 7 d and most of the people do not use it all together.

The method that works for me is to use AF before the filming of the video and then adjust manually if you want to you to shoot the video. With the help of f/8 or f/11 to keep everything in short without having to keep the setting.

More recent Canon DSLR's like the T4i, T5i, 70 d and SL1 have a "hybrid AF" that does a much better job of AF during video, but it is not yet as good as a camcorder
