Implementation of best practices

We have a budget tight but would like to be considered for implementation, as many best practices of VMware as possible. We realize that, with our budget, we will not be able to implement many of them but I would like to get the most, most critics made. What do you consider the ABSOLUTE MUST have best practices to an environment that includes the following:

6 hosts ESX3.5 and 1 VC2.5 with the license server Center. Each host has 6 physical network interface cards. We have licenses for vMotion, DRS, and HA. Our current setup is:

vSwitch0 is home to a group of virtual computer and Console of Service ports with 2 network cards

vSwitch1 is home port for VM group

vSwitch3 is home to port VM group

vSwitch4 is a dedicated vMotion network

Physically, our hosts are connected to a single physical Nortel SwitchStack affected ports to the VLAN

We have our virtual machines on different subnets 3

This infrastructure is inside our firewall. We have a demilitarized zone, but it is not virtual.

Looking for candid suggestions.

The vSwitch is an object that exists in the memory of an ESX server.  Therefore, the exchanges on this vSwitch belong within this memory object.  This vSwitch keeps his stats, the mac entity table.  With the help of a 2nd vSwitch creates a 2nd object that does not interact/interface with the first.  Then, it adds another layer of separation between the information.  Gaps are a good thing for this reason.

There is not a general guide outside the configuration guide of product on the support page.

Partners have access to a guide designed for deployments of the value which is fairly comprehensive, but that is not published publicly.

There are some useful tips on recent presentations from Cisco Live in this area, but they are more PowerPoint as the deployment guide.

  • ADF Faces & BC: best practices for project implementation

    Season greetings my fellow JDevelopers!

Our group of software works with ADF for about 5 years and over the years, we have accumulated a good amount of knowledge in collaboration with JDeveloper and ADF. A large part of our current structure of demand was resurrected in the early days of JDeveloper 10 where there are more codes samples floating around, then there was the 'best practices' documentation. I understand that this is a subjective question, and varies from one site to another, but in my view, there is a set of common practices, our group began to identify as essential to the rationalization of a development process (reusable decorated with user interface components, modular common biz logic, the development with svn, continuous integration/build team, etc...). One of our development objectives is to minimize the dependence between each engineer as everyone is responsible for the client and middle tier application without losing the consistency of coding. After speaking with a couple of the ACE to the last openworld, I understand a large part of our planned architectural requirements are filled with JDeveloper 11 (with the introduction of models, declarative elements, bordered of workflow, etc...) but lack of time on the results expected to come, we are still almost a year away before moving to this new version. Here's some of our group/application.

    JDeveloper version: 10.1.3.4
    Number of developers: 7
Responsibilities of the developer: build both faces & collection bc

We currently have two applications in our production environments.
1.A flavor of the dynamic module from Steve Muench jdbc connection credentials
2 core application ADF Faces & BC

In our Core ADF Faces application, we get the following structure:

    OurApplication
    -OurApplicationLib (common framework files)
    -OurApplicationModel (project BC)
    src/org/ourapp/module1
    -src/org/ourapp/module 2

    -OurApplicationView (project faces)
    OurApp/public_html/module1
    OurApp/public_html/module2

    SRC/org/ourapp/support/module1
    SRC/org/ourapp/support/module 2

    SRC/org/ourapp/pageDefs /.

Total number of application Modules: 15 (including a RootApplicationModule that references the specific AMs module)
Display of number objects total: 171
    Total number of entities: 58
Total number of files BC: 1734
Total number of JSP pages: 246
    Total number of pageDefs: 236
Total number of cases of navigation in faces - config.xml: 127
Total number of application files: 4183
    Application size total: 180megs

Are there other ways to divide this application? IE: module specific projects with distinct faces-config files/databindings? If so, how can these files be "hooked" together? A couple of aces has recommended that we must separate all files of the entity in its own project that make sense. In addition, we look at maven builds that must remove the pesky model.jpr files that gets constantly "touched". I would love to hear how other groups organize their application and anything else, they would like to share as a best practice ADF.

    See you soon,.

  • Just improved m tips on best practices for sharing files on a Server 2008 std.

The field contains about 15 machines with two domain controllers, one's data is the app files / print etc...  I just upgraded from 2003 to 2008 and want to get advice on best practices for the establishment of a group of file sharing. Basically I want each user to have their their own records, but also a staff; folder. Since I am usually accustomed to using windows Explorer, I would like to know if these actions can be done in the best conditions. Also I noticed on 2008 there is a feature of contacts. How can it be used? I would like to message or send an email to users their file locations. Also, I want to implement an admin at a lower level to handle the actions without making them far in on the server, not sure.

I read a certain bbut I don't like test direct more because it can cause problems. So basically a way short and neat to manage shares using the MMC, as well as the way that I approach their mail from the server of their actions. Maybe what kind of access cintrol or permissions are suitable also for documents. Also how can I have them use office templates without changing the format of the model.

  • Best practices for designing a view in PlayBook

    Hello world

I'm new to BlackBerry PlayBook development and I would like to know how to make a user interface appropriate for playbook, what would be the best practice to do and it will be helpful to me if someone can post sample code here

    Thanks in advance

    A few tips:

    * Views extend Sprite

    * Views should be resizable, IE have a setSize() method

    * views should 'PIN' children at some edges of the screen, from when they are resized it runs correctly.

    * a parent class must listen to the scene for Event.RESIZE and call of resizing on the view.

    * Use the component of QNX, set if possible

    * Implement native controls, like sliding down to the options

  • denying denying interceptor inline best practices

We recently deployed an inline IPS solution using software 5.1 7 E1. We wish to refuse-attacker-victim-pair-Inline for a few signatures on a particular subnet on the network but to destroy the rest.

To implement this correctly, I think that we must use Action SigEvent filters on the sensor and use the commands > for all subnets agree that we want to allow deny actions for.

I have seen that in the configuration of the sensor, you can implement in the section > a > statement. My understanding is that does more for fleeing rather than deny solutions online.

    Am I right about that?

Please could someone on the list post that it is the best practical solution to deny deny attackers inline.

    create 2 event action filters.

The first action event filter will match signatures and subnets you want to deny on and do not subtract all actions. Make sure that you set to "stop the match".

The following will match the same signature but the address 0.0.0.0 - 255.255.255.255. remove the appropriate actions.

The net result is that the filter action first event will apply when it matches and the second when it doesn't.

  • common components of jar, naming, best practices

    11.1.2.1 forms

I added a few components of pot. For example, Directprint.jar

As they have dependencies on other common components, you must download and add in the formsweb.cfg

For example, Directprint must fontbox, pdfbox and commons-logging

This components are alive, so change their versions.

Well, now I have java in 1.6-1.8 guests, so I used it to upgrade some components of the jar.

For example from pdfbox - 1.8.6.jar to pdfbox - 1.8.11.jar

The question is: what is the best practice? The version of the name of band (rename just pdfbox.jar) so I don't have to change formsweb.cfg or preserve the name and line archive file formsweb.cfg?

If you rename the file... you have to do before everything that manifests properties adding and signing a hassle?

I guess it's a matter of taste and requirement. Personally I don't like the version numbers in the file names, because ultimately I don't like what version I am running a certain file... as long at it works. I certainly do not want to change the file name in each config file I do and do not remember to add it.

However; If you want to be able to move forward and backward between the versions I guess it's easier to have a version number in the file name. If you encounter a no - Go in the current version just swap the file name in the configuration files. Of course, if you implement version control, you can update to revision until the problem is introduced, generating the .jar file from scratch and redeployed. If you don't have version control, you can only hope that you have a backup of your file.

By simply adding a version number in the file name, you will need to update the formsweb.cfg whenever you add a new version of your jar file. By not doing this you will not have to do.

Both have their advantages and disadvantages, you will have to decide for yourself what best suits your needs.

If you rename the file... you have to do before everything that manifests properties adding and signing a hassle?

Yes. The manifest must not care about the file name, but the process of signing only.

    see you soon

  • [ADF, JDev12.1.3] Best practices for maintaining a form validation

    Hallo,

in my application, I need to create a registration form which contains fields that must be validated (for example they should follow a format like e-mail, phone number, tax code,...).

If the data inserted by the user are ok, a new record in my custom db table Users will be created.

I would like to know which are the best practices for maintaining the validation, which means the place where the controls must be made and a message to the user who fills out the form when something goes wrong.

The best vo or EO or managed bean? Or some controls should be put in the OS, others in the VO and other in the managed bean?

I would be happy if you could give me some examples.

    Thank you

    Federico

Assuming you want the validation on the value of the field to any screen data can be entered in (and possibly web services that rely on the same BC ADF) then put the validation on the definition of the attribute in the EO.

If you want to add a little more friendliness and eliminate some of the network traffic to the server, you can also implement the validation client in your page - for example by using the regular expression validator.

  • Best practices: linking opportunity data step contact SFDC

Hi - I was hoping someone could give me a best practice to manage and automate the following use cases.

I have tried a number of different things in Eloqua but met a roadblock.

    CASE OF USE/PROBLEM:

I need to remove contacts from a campaign of education that are associated with a designated SFDC opportunity as won.
I realized my first step, which is to remove a contact from a campaign by referencing a custom object.

However, I need updated chance data mapped to a contact to handle all upward.

Thus so, my real problem is updated (every 30 minutes or more) data in the custom about opportunities object table.

What I've tried map data updated to a contact opportunity:

    (1) auto Synch the opportunity table an object custom

I was able to bring opportunities but the email address/contact data is stored on the Contact role table so no e-mail address were brought in Eloqua.

    (2) automatic synchronization on the Contact role opportunity table an object custom

This works if I do an automatic synchronization and automatic synchronization does not work with the updated filter, and the last successful Upload Date.

Is it possible to change the filter to make the data when the opportunity is changed and not the role of Contact?
And if so, can someone give me direction on how to implement that in Eloqua?

If you know of something else to do to manage this entire upward please let me know. I appreciate any assistance.

    Blake Holden

    Hi Kathleen,.

I understand. Below shows you an automatic synch successfully pull data in the role of opportunity Contact SFDC Eloqua. Once a week, I still don't have a full automatic synchronization to ensure that all data from, but most of the time, it is entirely automated.

  • Best practices for network configuration of vSphere with two subnets?

Well, then I'll set up 3 ESXi hosts connected to storage shared with two different subnets. I configured the iSCSI initiator and the iSCSI with his own default gateway - 192.168.1.1 - targets through a Cisco router and did the same with the hosts configured with its own default gateway - 192.168.2.2. I don't know if I should have a router in the middle to route traffic between two subnets since I use iSCSI ports linking and grouping of NETWORK cards. If I shouldn't use a physical router, how do I route the traffic between different subnets and use iSCSI ports binding at the same time. What are the best practices for the implementation of a network with two subnets vSphere (ESX host network: iSCSI network)? Thank you in advance.

Install the most common iSCSI would be traffic between hosts and

the storage is not being routed, because a router it could reduce performance.

If you have VLAN 10(192.168.1.0/24) iSCSI, VLAN 20 (192.168.2.0/24) ESX

MGMT and VLAN 30 (192.168.3.0/24) comments VMs and VLAN 40 (192.168.4.0/24)

vMotion a deployment scenario might be something like:

    NIC1 - vSwitch 0 - active VMK (192.168.1.10) MGMT, vMotion VMK (192.168.4.10)

    standby

    NIC2 - vSwitch 1 - current (VLAN30) guest virtual machine port group

    NIC3 - vSwitch 2 - active VMK1 (192.168.1.10) iSCSI

    NIC4 - vSwitch 2 - active VMK2 (192.168.1.11) iSCSI

    NIC5 - vSwitch 1 - current (VLAN30) guest virtual machine port group

    NIC6 - vSwitch 0 - MGMT VMK (192.168.2.10) standby, vMotion

    VMK (192.168.4.10) active

You would place you on VLAN 10 storage with an IP address of something like target

192.168.1.8 and iSCSI traffic would remain on this VLAN. The default value

gateway configured in ESXi would be the router the VLAN 20 with an ip address of

something like 192.168.2.1. I hope that scenario help set some options.
