Text smeared/hazy - hardware acceleration on, page very slow/unresponsive in stop

Other users have reported the same problem, but the solution does not work for me.

The text is blurry/sale - only Facebook, probably because the page is big enough. If I disable hardware acceleration, so the text is blurred, but the page becomes almost insensitive - smooth roll is lost, in fact, there is no scroll at all - the page moves half on the screen at once (by scrolling), or sometimes doesn't scroll at all.

My hardware isn't the newest thing out there but is not so bad either, I guess: AMD Phenom II X 4 945 (4 x 3 GHz) and Sapphire Radeon HD 4670 (1 GB). So, if Firefox is unable to use the graphics card, is not enough powerful processor to him correctly make a page like FB?

Sorry, you can turn off is no longer azure by setting gfx.content.azure.enabled false.

Hey, I had the same problem and I solved it:
    1. - in the Firefox menu, display the Tools/Options.
    2. - unselect the checkbox "use hardware acceleration when available.
This should work better now. Apparently the hardware acceleration makes the problems only when the windows of Firefox appears in a non-primary screen (don't know why). I suppose you know, but if you want to change your primary monitor you can do it from settings (right click on the desktop, then properties).
    Good luck!

Firefox 9.0.1 is so slow it's unusable! I returned and downloaded 3.6.25 and it's incredibly fast compared to the 9.0.1 version. 9.0.1 takes at least 20 seconds to load, crashes when you open a Web page for more than a minute and more than a minute or longer to stop. A big eater of memory while it stops so my computer is dead until it is through. Updater.exe consumes a lot of memory on shutdown. Others say that it works very well for them but 8. Hi @oopsys,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums!

I will do my best to help you. I read your thread on your HP Pavilion g6-2235tx laptop and have slow speeds. Thank you for all the information on what is happening and what you've done so far. Something is slowing down the laptop.

Have you installed some antivirus or firewall? If you disable what are your speeds better?

Here is a document on improving your system.

If these things do not help, I would consider a refresh of Windows 8.  Do not forget to save music films and documents in the case where.

The reset will install the original driver and sometimes to solve the problem of the slow speeds or slow to develop.

  • No matter what internet browser very slow/no work, but other applications such as online games online, torrent works fine.

    Hello world

I have a weird problem, my internet browser is very slow/unresponsive, but associated other online apps work perfectly. I tried chrome and internet explore. It is not the problem with the internet, I passage of Time warner to Comcast cable and both times the problem persists.

I play several games online, such as starcraft and steam games, and it works normally.

I'm running a windows vista 64-bit home premium with service pack 2.

    and 2 Sata hard drives.

    Hello shinji_45,

The performance of Internet Explorer problems are usually caused by defective modules. I suggest that you run Internet Explorer in Mode Add on No and check if you have the same problem.

    To do this,

    a. Click Start, point to programs, point to Accessories, point to system tools.

    b. click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

    c. If this resolves the problem, follow these steps to isolate the browser add-on that is causing the problem:

    a. click Tools and then click Internet Options.

    b. click on the tab programs, then click on Manage Add-ons.

    c. click an add-on in the name list and then click on disable.

    d. Repeat step c until you identify the add-on that is causing the problem.

If this solves the problem, this could be caused by an adware installed as add-on.

If this still does not address the problem, reset the Internet Explorer settings. Reset the Internet Explorer settings.

To use the feature reset the settings of Internet Explorer in the Control Panel, follow these steps:

    a. Quit all programs, including Internet Explorer (if it is running).

    b. Click Start, type the following command in the start search box and press ENTER:

    Inetcpl.cpl

The Internet Options dialog box appears.

    c. click on the Advanced tab.

    d. Under Reset Internet Explorer settings, click Reset. Then click again on reset.

    e. when Internet Explorer finishes reset settings, click close in the reset Internet Explorer settings dialog.

    f. restart Internet Explorer.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/reset-Internet-Explorer-7-settings

Warning: Reset the Internet Explorer settings can reset security settings or privacy settings that you have added to the list of Trusted Sites. Reset the Internet Explorer settings can also reset parental control settings. We recommend that you note these sites before you use the reset Internet Explorer settings.

Don't know what could really be the cause Chrome is slow. However, since browsers are slow, you should start solving this problem in the browser.

  • Problem with fonts. If enable hardware acceleration "BOLD" fonts look weird, but if I turn it off, "BOLD" fonts seem good, but normal fonts look weird

    Title.

With hardware acceleration: http://imgur.com/jHRk6Yl words 'empty' look and really weird air instead of being "BOLD". But if I disable it, normal fonts look "weird" in some Web sites (not all) and are difficult to read.
    Any solution?

    Thank you!

Hmm, another user Windows 10 reported this after installing some Helvetica fonts.

In your screenshot, the text 'blue indicated' is the following style rule:

    font-family: "helvetica neue",arial,helvetica,sans-serif;

So I guess you have Helvetica Neue installed locally, which seems to have strange problems in Firefox.

If you don't want to remove this font on your system, you can use custom style rules for Firefox overrides Arial, which is what I see on Windows 7 on this page. I saw the first time that documented in this article (from 2010!):

  • Video freezes for second: hardware acceleration turned off (ff and flash), tired uninstallling (all folders with ff and deleted adobe), still no solution.

Video stops a second time (1 minute to 2), audio custody. Tried to uninstall ff and adobe, by disabling the registry and reinstalling: does not work. Hardware acceleration disabled on adobe et seq. same thing. However, video on chrome and explore works very well. If it will give you more information I would say it started after the upgrade of windows 8 for windows 8.1

  • CPU reaches a maximum 35-40% while loading page - very insensitive

After the 10.0.2 upgrade my browser became very unresponsive during the loading of pages/opening blank tabs.
I've tried all plugins disabled in safe mode and reinstall full.
My plugins are up to date, I do not use custom themes and any type of page I'm loading. It looks like the engine itself.
Running a Win7 x 64 laptop - I did not have this issued before the last update.

It would be interesting to experiment to turn on/off hardware acceleration. If you have enabled HA, but it does not work properly, it is likely to cause problems. (If you use Flash video Player that has its own fixing HA controls on or off). To turn off HA, in normal use of navigation

It's looking like some problems might relate more to the system than Firefox.

  • Disabling hardware acceleration also live up to anti-aliasing of fonts

    As in the title.

First screenshot shows what happens with hardware acceleration enabled, which seems better, second screenshot shows how it looks an alias with disabled acceleration with the race missing in some places on the very light fonts.

However, when hardware acceleration is enabled, if I open very large images or batch of images on line at the same time, the browser window will flash white, all tabs will lose their favicons and you must restart the browser. For this reason, I try to keep disabled hardware acceleration, but use (or method) for the rendering of the fonts only, if such a thing is possible. Also, I want a fix for hardware acceleration, causing such behaviour, although it seems more difficult.

ClearType and font smoothing are both on the channel. Disabling one of them makes the fonts still worse.

    Thanks in advance.

In fact, I've corrected the problem. Gfx.direct2d.force layout compatible true was what it took.

  • Firefox crashes when I restart. I found an answer related to the hardware accelerator but cannot find a way to get to it?

When I close firefox and reopen it, it lights up briefly and then crash. I am able to open it by clicking on a link that requires a password and use it from there, but that takes some time and its very annoying. I have a Blocker to add and I don't want to get rid of using safe mode. I read something about turning off hardware acceleration, but when I go to tools, theres no button options. IM also using a MacBook Pro.

You can try to start Firefox in Mode safe temporarily (hold down the option key while starting Firefox) and disable hardware acceleration (Preferences dialog box > advanced > general, uncheck the "Use hardware acceleration when available"), then exit Firefox and try to run normally.

But if you can extract another thing: crash report IDs which will allow volunteers to see some of the crash reports you have submitted to Mozilla. Please check the last section of the support article "Firefox plant - troubleshoot and prevent assistance fixing crashes" for steps get these IDs crash and then after the most recent here.
