A knowledge of any problems with the addition of a Kingston SSDNow V300 240 GB SDD to a D7-1245dx? Its size is 7mm width 69,85 mm x depth 100mm height but not sure of the size of the computer laptop berries/caddy supports

Decide whether to use the laptop for a little longer so to upgrade the system to a Kingston 240 GB SDD drive and move the current drive to the secondary location (already got 2nd coming of caddy). It lets me do a bit more space on the laptop in addition to increasing performance.  Figure between an SSD and get up to 8 GB ram it should last a little longer.

You will have a shopping cart for the SSD, but it looks like you have an and get a second wagon. Dv7-1000 series does not use a cable or connector. the hard disk plug right into SATA ports on the motherboard. 7mm drive has the connectors SATA and the mounting holes exactly in the same place as a 9.5 mm drive. All is just shorter so the reader rides low in the caddy. As a swimming pool with 20% water let out. 7mm SSD works perfectly. Windows 7 or 8/8.1 are preferred; Vista is not configured to treat SSDS as well or easily.

  • The upgrade and the addition of material

    Hello

This is my situation, I'm in music production, and I need to upgrade my PC to fit my needs. I'm looking to upgrade memory and RAM as well as the addition of firewire ports. The firewire port is very important because I need to connect an audio interface I. I know that I can get all these components, it is clear the fact that I don't know what is compatible and it would be better for me.

I know I should be able to get the 16 GB of RAM, which would be much more than the 6 GB it holds. I only NEED 1 firewire port, but having 2 would be nice.

I don't have a lot of money to update everything, so I'm trying to get what I need, and then I can save the rest.

I have not upgraded the PC anyway, it is still stock.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You are welcome.  Thank you for the additional information.

When upgrading memory, you must always match the memory that is already installed.  Otherwise, the new memory may not be compatible.  The motherboard of your computer is the Architecture Dual-Channel.  Therefore, it is better to install matched sets.  This is the memory that is recommended by Crucial.  They make very good memory.  In fact, HP uses their memory in a large number of their computers.

This is a Firewire card that should work for you.  It has 3 external ports; (400 Mbps)-a 1394 and 1394b (800 Mbps).  If you decide not to buy this card, it is a good example of what you need.  You can watch other on Newegg to see what else is available.

  • I need to clean the registry because it has not been done in a long time.

I need to clean the registry because it has not been done in a long time.  I can't find any software cleaner that cleans all teasers just identify errors and clean up maybe 3 things, but you need to buy to do it all.

    What can I do?

Do not.  He didn't need it and even if you deleted 1000 things from him (doubtful) it would make little or no impact on performance.

If you don't understand the registry enough to know what to erase manually or how to add things yourself, etc. - using a tool that almost arbitrarily find the things that are supposed to be orphaned or not necessary and confidence (for some reason any) can lead to a system of death.

If you just * have to * ("it's a moral imperative") and then use that integrated with CCleaner.  I generally recommend not even consider using its registry "cleaning" component - but in the many times I used to analyze and find things and go through them manually before I remove them (at least - I've seen ~ 250 entries, he suggested to get rid of and even in this case, my manual check led me to delete all and there was no adverse) I didn't it go wrong.  If you * MUST * do it, use it and save your changes, so you might be able to roll back.  Before do you all - make sure your backups are in order.

Want generally cleaning XP and maybe actually get a performance gain?

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find.  Reboot when necessary.  (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in.  Look for whatever it is you do not know using Google (or ask here.)  You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory.  This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

  • Problems with WRT54GS and EasyLink after the addition of the Comcast Digital phone.

I had a working network. Cable modem (Comcast), WRT54GS, 2 PCs per (an XP/SP3, a Vista Home Edition SP1), 2 cable PC laptop wireless (an XP/SP3, a Vista Home Edition SP1) and a HP OfficeJet 7210 printer (connected to WRT54GS as a network printer). Everything was going well and worked.

Then, I added the Comcast Digital phone. Obviously, they went for a new modem cable modem cable with the phone service option. Now I can't print to the wired Vista PC OfficeJet and EasyLink displays "initializing" for too long I'll wait (5 minutes).

Finally, I must kill EasyLink from the Task Manager. Any help or ideas appreciated!

I solved the problem. It turns out the new modem cable and problem with EasyLink initialization were 'diversion '.

The problem turns out to be a classic network problem! The Vista PC wired had a wrong IP address. The wireless PC XP has the printer configured with the name of network instead of the network address (IP, for example).

When I deleted the printer on the Vista PC and added to the correct address everything worked fine.

Apparently, the printer got a new IP address of the server on the WRT54GS after installing the new modem. In addition, it seems that Vista doesn't has not report an error of communication to a network printer, but for a direct USB connect.

  • How can I prevent the shutdown task scheduler engine, get the new display detected to work and avoid receiving the message "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and stop"? __

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1520, running Windows Vista Home Edition Premium and Internet Explorer 9.  My extra monitor is a Sharp Aquos LED HD - TV, the model LC-46LE700UN.  I've been using a VGA cable to me onnecter the laptop and TV.

The laptop seems to operate normally when not connect to the TV.

As soon as the VGA cable is connected to the laptop (without being connected to the TV), the following message appears:

'Microsoft Windows - Task Scheduler engine has stopped working.  A problem caused the blocking of the program works correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is found. »

When initially, I connected the laptop to TV, "new display detected" was automatically acti EV.  Soon, it was activated is no longer automatically.  I was able to activate manually using Windows Mobility Center during automatic activation failed initially but now Windows Mobility Center no longer detects the new view.

Using Fn + F8, I can view the image on the laptop or TV, but not both simultaneously.

The message "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and stop" appears intermittently, but I can still make internet sites and show the content after the message.

I have download software, myp2p.eu, a site for watching TV programs "streaming", including PPStream, Sopcast, Live, Stream Torrent Sina, a Swarm, TVAnts, UUSee, VGO and Veetle player and canceled downloads for PPL (who failed an integrity check), PPMate (corrupted) and (blocked) TVKoo.

Norton Security quarantined the installer of UUSee, indicating that it was a high risk of program with many users.

To a computer repair shop and using a different additional display flat screen, I could not duplicate the problems yesterday (4 October 2010), when the "new detected display" has been activated automatically, and I could see the photo or the other and both screens.

I tried to restore the system to a date (on the list) before when the problems occurred first - failure of the restoration of the system.  I tried to use scandisk, but received no indication that he had performed and corrected all errors found after restarting Windows.  I looked at responses from forum, the display setting and the new display detected support literature.

How can I avoid these problems?  Help!

    Hello

Restoring the system end up with any error message?

This could also happen if one of the substantive programmes is in conflict with the proper functioning of your computer. To troubleshoot error messages and other issues,
You can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

    Steps-
1 log on to the computer using an account with administrator rights
    2. click on start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue
    3. on the general tab, click Selective startup, and then clear the check box load startup items. (The check box use the file Boot is not available.)
    4. on the Services tab, click to select the skin all the Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all

Note: Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services.
If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use with existing restore points system restore utility

    This should solve your problem.

    Hi abgolf3,

The question may be how the new hard drive has been formatted.  Take a look at the way in which the reader is implemented by clicking Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > double-click on computer management > double-click storage.  Is all the space on the disk are responsible?  If so, take a look at these two documents for your problem:

    Mark a partition as active

  • The user profile service has no connection could not load profile __User

I use Windows 7 ultimate, I can't log on to the computer that shows me that "the user profile service has no connection. Unable to load the user profile.

    So how do I do?

This error can usually be fixed by following the steps below. All this requires a certain level of computer skills. You know better and that take the machine to a competent local computer tech (not a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad place) is the best solution for you.

1 log on to a different user account with administrative privileges. If you neglected to make an account additional administrative steps 2-3. Otherwise, continue to step 4. See also General information on setting up the accounts of users at the end of this post.

2 in Mode safe boot. This, by repeatedly pressing the F8 key as the computer starts. That you will get to the menu on the right where you can use your arrow key to select Mode safe [Enter]. The built-in Administrator account is disabled by default in Windows 7. However, if no other administrative accounts exist on the system it can be activated. If this is the case, you will see an icon for the administrator on the homescreen mode without failure. Login to the administrator.

3 If you don't see the icon for the administrator mode safe account, then the built-in Administrator account is always disabled so you will need to work more. If you have a Windows 7 DVD installation (not a recovery DVDs), you can start the system with it. Select the default language, then select "repair your computer". Then select "Command Prompt". At the command prompt, type:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes [Enter]

[Note: do not enter the brackets!]

If you do not have an installation DVD (only have a recovery disk), the computer mftr. may have given you the option to repair the system Windows 7 (not a system recovery!) in the menu diagnosis. This menu of diagnosis is the same one where you can choose Safe Mode.  Or you can make a bootable DVD of Windows 7 repair of the file on this link:

    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2009/Windows-7-system-repair-discs/

Note: All the Neosmart recovery disk downloads are torrent files. There is a good explanation of the torrent on the site Web of Neosmart files. You will need a torrent asmuTorrent client to get the files. Torrent client will download the .iso file with which to create the bootable DVD. If you create the bootable DVD in an older operating system, you need third-party burning like Nero, Roxio or free ImgBurn software to burn the .iso image image file, not in the form of data. Windows 7 can burn the .isos natively.

Now, remove the rescue DVD you made, restart windows system and log into the built-in Administrator account, you enabled.

    4. try a system restore to when things worked. If you can log in to your user account, you are finished. Otherwise, continue to step 5.

    5. the critical files are under % systemdrive%\users\user-account\ntuser. The ntuser.dat file is actually a registry hive. Run Regedit high and select HKEY_USERS and "load hive" in the menu. Now, go to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

There is a line for each profile. If a profile is bad, check:

    (a) that the name of the key does not stop in ".bak" (remove .bak If it)
    (b) that the RefCount value is 0 (change it if it is different)
    (c) that the State value is 0 (change if different)

Make the necessary changes, close Regedit and try to connect as this user.

    6. If that doesn't solve your profile, it is corrupt. When you do that, you should make a new Standard user account and copy your data to it. Do not delete the old account until you have recovered data you need!

Once everything works, go to the additional administrative account you will be made by the suggestions below and disable the administrator account integrated yet for security reasons:

Start Orb > Search box > type: cmd
When cmd appears in the above results, right-click and choose "Run as Administrator" [OK]. Now, you will get the command prompt. At the command prompt, type:

NET user administrator / active: No. [Enter]

    Exit the command prompt.

General recommendations for creating users in Windows 7

You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. Like XP, Vista and all the other modern operating systems, Windows 7 is a multi-user system with integrated system of accounts as default Administrator and comments. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.

In particular, you do not want account only one user with administrator privileges in Windows 7 because the administrator account integrated (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you use as an administrator for your daily work, and this account is corrupt, things will be difficult. It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but it can be more work you want to do. Better not to put you in a bad situation at first.

The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. As a user Standard is recommended for security reasons and will help protect your computer against infections. After you have created "CompAdmin", connect to it and change your normal user account Standard. Then log on to your regular account.

If you want to go directly to the desktop and ignore the Welcome screen with the icons of the user accounts, you can do this:

Start Orb > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).
