The broken on Satellite 3000-100 keyboard

Hello, I have a problem with my laptop satellite keyboard. Some keys are broken and I want to replace them, but it's really hard. Now I want to change the keyboard, but I don't know how to do this.

What I have to call a technician to Toshiba or can I change myself?

I'm sorry for my bad English ;)

Thanks, Luca

Hello

> Do I need to call a technician to Toshiba or can I change myself?
Usually, you should always contact the technicians for laptop for these jobs. I mean there is a small risk that you could damage other parts.

On the other hand if you have a good laptop experience you might also replace the keyboard.
What you need is a compatible keyboard.
It could be ordered in the Toshiba ASP in your country.

The keyboard is closed by 4 screws that are hidden under the plastic cover.
Pull the right side on the cover of the band and lift. But be careful because of the cable on the right side. Then gently release the cable from the connector on the tape cover, then lift the cover of the band on.
Remove the four keyboard screws that attach the keyboard and then slide the keyboard toward the back until the keyboard cable is released under the superior logic.
Disconnect the keyboard connector and second VGA connector, then lift the keyboard up and out.

The procedure is not difficult for someone who has already disassembled a laptop. But once again; If you don t have the necessary experience, then don t go and ask a technician for help.

Good bye

  • Satellite 3000-100: keyboard does not work

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite 3000 100 laptop. It worked without any problem. But suddenly the keyboard did not work! The other keys work always. What can I do?

    Thank you, homer108 (from Germany)

For me, it looks like a keyboard failure.
In this case, you need to replace the old keyboard with a new one.
The replacement is not very difficult. The keyboard is connected to the motherboard with the flat cable. To disconnect the cable from the motherboard, you'll have to open two small latches on the sides of s of connector and cable.

However, first you must order an ASP compatible keyboard which is responsible for your country. And if you have no experience with the replacement procedures, I recommend the portable computer technician, asking for help.

  • Satellite 3000-100: upgrade hard drive

I would like to replace the original HDD 20 GB of my Satellite 3000-100 by a larger, preferably 80 GB.

Is the replacement easy to conduct, or the risk of damaging the laptop?

    Hello

Well, this unit is a little older. As far as I know, the HARD drive is under the keyboard.
In this case, you will have to remove all covers. Unfortunately, I n t find any detailed documents related to this procedure.

But I know that at the bottom of the device, you can find the modular Bay. This allows you to add an additional hard drive. I found some information that you can use a 30.0 GB HDD modular Bay.
In this case, you can use two hard drives of your laptop.

  • Satellite 3000-100: need new HARD drive

    Hello

I am looking for a new HARD drive for my laptop.

I've already tired 3 different (2xHiachi, 1xToshiba MK2023GAS) HARD drives, but the Bios (latest Version 2.40) could not detect them.

Nobody knows that suits HARD drive?

    Thank you

    Hello

As far as I know the Satellite 3000-100 supports an Enhanced IDE Ultra DMA66/100 interface.
Therefore, use this HARD drive interface compatible hard drives.

The 20 GB HARD drive should be compatible due to the fact that this device was equipped with a 20 GB HARD drive too.

I discovered that these drives may be supported:
    PA3100U 15 GB HDD-modular
PA3101U modular HARD 30 GB disk

Try simply google for this part numbers and you should get a few hits.

Hi, I have just a PA3099U-1BRS bought 2nd battery internal bay for Satellite 3000-100, but he remains at 0% and will not load. I read the areas of support of the site and it says I need at least v1.90 BIOS and I 2.40 (otherwise it could have been the cause of the problem), is there anything else I can try? Thanks, Tommy

    Hello

If I remember well enough the Satellite 3000 features of a small reset button must be pressed with a pen. Check it please and if yes put the new battery inside, start the machine and immediately press the reset button and hold for about 15 or 20 seconds.

Looks like the sg page layout keyboard mapping is broken with 7.0.0. ' < ' and ' > ' mapped to ' § ' and '°' and vis versa... Sorry too many bugs! Never had any problems during the upgrade before merger. But this time, everything is just terrible. Broken, broken keyboard suopprt USB support. Guess I have to go back to 6.0.4.

Or y at - it a known solution?

    Stupid me...

Simple solution, just define a mapping manual in Fusion preferences > keys & mouse. Add the mapping for poorly mapped key for the profile that you use for your virtual machine. It seems to work well as a workaround for the moment

I am facing problem with laptop M70-122 key boards. Keys @ and "are interchangeable. Printing on keyboards are same as a normal PC. But when I press the SHIFT + 2 ket I get "instead of @ and vice versa." How can I solve this problem.

    Hello

Believe me, it s not a failure or a problem.
You have bad language keyboard configurations.
I suppose that you have set the US or UK keyboard. Please change these settings

Please see the Control Panel regional and language options languages details. There you can change keyboard settings.

  • What HARD drive max can I use satellite 3000 514

    Hey all,.

What is usable by the 3000-514 maximum capacity hard drive. It comes standard with 20 GB but I can't find anything online that gives this information.

    Kind regards

    Hello

I m not 100% sure but to my knowledge the BIOS of Satellite 3000 supports a limitation of the HARD drive and you can only use the IDE 2.5 ", 9.5 mm HDD s up to 30 GB.
Seems that BIOS will not recognize large s 30 GB HARD drive!

I found this info somewhere in the internet. But you know the guy. These are only suggestions. If you wish, you can try any other disk HARD s i.e. 40 or 60 GB. It would be interesting to know if the HARD disk is running or not. Are you referring to the merchant of HARD drive if it of possible to test some HARD drive sizes!

If you have more information, please report it here! Thank you ;) see you later

The laptop Toshiba Satellite L850/046 - keyboard has stopped working.
Have restarted. In the box of charms, it seems ghost.

Impossible to restore or reset as it asks password and keyboard does not work

    Hello Graham

Sorry, but your problem is not easy to understand. After reading these two sentences, it is not easy to tell if there is a general problem with the keyboard or what.
When you enter the BIOS settings can use keyboard to scroll through the options and tabs of the BIOS?

Since when did you notice this problem?
You have created a recovery media? If Yes, please try to use it and install original recovery image.

I installed Windows XP (SP3) on my Satellite 3000-400, but the Accupoint II trackball does not work. It is not mentioned in the hardware Manager and I can't find a driver.

    Sorry for my bad English.

    Hello

Do you mean that you can not use the touchpad buttons too?
Hmm, sounds a little like hardware delivers what do you think?

Have you tried to install a driver for touchpad?
I didn't find the driver for the touchpad for Satellite 3000-400, but I found a satellite 3000-504 (the drivers are placed in the Archive)

Try to install this driver and check if it helps.

  • Satellite 3000 - X 4: update BIOS

Attempt to upgrade the BIOS on Satellite 3000 - X 4 to help update BIOS downloaded 160 today. Using the method recommended (Windows).

Extract the files in the desktop folder and run the exe file. This runs request a diskette and continues when inserted. At the end of the writing process on diskette, a statement disc error error message and try a different disk. I tried 10 different lots disc every time the same mistake.

Use the method traditional, but cannot find my machine listed.

    Can anyone help.

    Hello

Satellite 3000 - X 4 is a UK machine, so I think that you can find the BIOS update TRANS on-site of the United Kingdom!

As far as I know the 3000 hs - X 4 a special BIOs that also needs a display updated driver at the same time!
I mean the BIOs upgrade was also to implement an update of displaydriver which must be run before a upodate BIOS can be done!

  • Satellite 3000-214: after CPU upgrade no screen and no HARD disk activity

    Hey all,.
    I have a 3000-214 Satellite that comes originally with a PIII-M 933 Mhz. (SL5CG)
    http://videoff7.free.fr/sl5cg.jpg

I ordered on eBay a second hand replacement (1133 Mhz) CPU SL5CK. (same number of pins, the same processor family: RH80530)
When I go in, the laptop starts, but there is nothing on the screen and no HARD disk activity.

So I asked the seller if he had tested the CPU, it sent, he said no and sent me 2 CPUs of replacement, another SL5CG and a SL64Z (which does not appear on the Intel site for some strange reason, but which is of the same characteristics as the SL5CG..)
    http://videoff7.free.fr/sl5ck.jpg
    http://videoff7.free.fr/sl64z.jpg

The two processors give the same result with nothing on the screen and no activity of the HARD drive either.
I checked my BIOS, it is the latest version: 2.30.
Some laptops in the series 3000 Satellite (e.g. 3000-601), are delivered with a 1133 Mhz CPU (SL5CK) and also share the same bios exactly like my 3000-214. (upgrades to the bios on Toshiba website for my 214 & 601 are the same exact links and MD5 are equal). Also the 3000-601 & 3000-214 share the same chipset: Intel 830MP.
But for some reason, it does not.

    EC which could I missed?

It is always possible that all 3 processors that I was sent by the seller are dead, but it would be strange at this point, I think.
So my question is, anyone have any idea what I might try to work or have experience with the upgrade a Satellite 3000 CPU?

My warranty is looooong Sub anyway, so if a Toshiba employee could check in the basis of how fast max CPU can be used on the Sat 3000-214, I would be very grateful.

Thanks a bunch for any info.
    Kind regards

    Alcahest

    Hello

I studied a bit in the web and it seems that the Satellite 3000 has been bundled with Intel Mobile PIII 800, 850, 900, 1000 MhZ CPU

I think that this will not work because of the speed of the CPU.
In addition, I found this Toshiba document:
    http://support.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/FAQ5300W5000XR01.htm

It is said that it is not possible to replace the processor in a laptop Tosh because processors are connected to the motherboard using a process called TCP tape carrier package.

  • Satellite 3000 x 4 connector broken, is it easy to fix and how?

Hi, I'm looking for Info for my sister. She has a Satellite 3000 x 4 but the connection is broken and must be replaced.

Initially, I was going to buy him a motherboard to work of second hand to replace the broken Jack but it's still very expensive. However, I have recently purchased a jack for his model similar to that as this http://texas-shopper.com/pcitems/tjack5.jpg because I read that the connector can be solved this way.

The person who will fix my laptop computer sisters has never used something like this before and is not familiar with it. If everyone is familiar or fixing these type of catch up then do it me know how you do it. If you know any good sites with instructions for this task then I will also appreciate if you have linked to them. I also intend to pass this info on the technician who will do the repair work.
    Thank you

    Hello

Unfortunately, I n t found any documents on the change of the framework. But I think that to replace this part you must remove all the covers and the keyboard of the device.
Also I don't know if the part about the photo is compatible with the motherboard and as far as I know it's not easy to replace the electric parts of m.

In my opinion, you should ask the service Toshiba for the right part and education partner exactly. But the best way is to give the unit for service partner. They have more experience.

  • Satellite 3000-214 - Ctrl key keyboard does not

    Hello

I tried to clean the keyboard disassemble all the keys to it and clean the grates, without success.

Can someone tell me where I can get a suitable keyboard: i in Germany.
It must be an original Toshiba keyboard or is it possible from another manufacturer?
How can I remove the keyboard of the laptop? What I have to open the case, or is it possible to get it out with a screwdriver or something?

    Thx for any suspicion!

    Best regards.
    Ting

    Hello

You must use the original Toshiba keyboard that is cared for and compatible with this laptop.
All parts and devices, you can buy the Toshiba authorized partner in your country. The database complete with ASP in the world, you can find on the page of European support of Toshiba.

Usually, if you want to remove the keyboard to remove first the thin cover above the keyboard.
There are two screws holding the keyboard. After the withdrawal of these two screws, you will be able to set the keyboard.
But be careful; the keyboard is connected with the flat cable to the motherboard.

  • Satellite 3000-514: broke the backslash

    Hello

I have a problem with my satellite 3000 514, the backslash key does not register in windows, back or any testing program. I've updated the BIOS, replaced the keyboard and it got me nowhere. I came to the conclusion that there must be something to do with the firmware of the keyboard as all other keys work and I can get a backslash to an external keyboard. It's almost as if he missed us firmware of the keyboard.

You used to be able to get the firmware of the keyboard in the bios, but apparently this is not the case now. Popular utilities or ideas.

    See you soon,.
